Draymond Green Sounds Off On The Lakers Potentially Firing Darvin Ham

The Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the NBA playoffs by the Denver Nuggets. The Lakers fell 4-1 to the Nuggets in a hard-fought but ultimately futile effort. The Defending champs were just too much for LeBron James and the Lakers. Lakers coach Darvin Ham has been getting the brunt of the blame from fans and the Lakers organization, who are reported to be likely to fire him. There are some who think the criticism of Ham is ridiculous and that the Laker’s failings are more complex. Draymond Green believes it’s foolish to look to fire Darvin Ham despite what the consensus says.

Draymond is an outspoken player on and off the court. Whatever you think of his brash personality, sometimes he speaks the truth. Green has been sitting at home since the Golden State Warriors were eliminated from postseason play and has been focusing on his podcast. Green broke down his position on the Darvin Ham situation, ultimately defending the coach. The NBA champion makes some good points.

Draymond Green Defends Darvin Ham

Draymond Green says he thinks it would be wrong for the Lakers to fire Darvin Ham. “I think it’ll be wrong to fire him… [The Lakers] roster didn’t get better than last year… Everybody will blame [him], like, ‘Oh, it’s his fault.’ Is it really?” What he says makes perfect sense. The Laker’s roster did not get better in the offseason. It was not a better team than last season, and last season, they also were in the play-in tournament. Although They did make the conference finals last season, they failed to replace certain guys. Furthermore, their new signings did not perform well, and those facts ultimately prevented them from improving.

Draymond also adds that he doesn’t see LeBron James leaving LA. He says it’s possible if an interesting situation pops up. Ultimately, outside of that happening, Green says he will probably be back in Purple and Gold. The Lakers have some big decisions to make. They have to improve this roster to maximize the talents of Lebron, who is 39 years old, and Anthony Davis. All in all, it’s going to be a long off-season of decision-making for LA.

Mariah The Scientist Arrested For Alleged March Assault: Details

Mariah The Scientist’s alleged club fight from back in March seems to have caught up to her, as TMZ Hip Hop reports that authorities in Atlanta arrested her on Wednesday night (May 1). Moreover, according to an alleged Fulton County police report obtained by the publication, a woman named Cleopatra Dues told the Zone 2 precinct on March 29 that Mariah attacked her the night before inside Cavo Kitchen and Cocktail. Not only that, but Dues alleged that this was for no apparent reason. The story goes that the artist took hold of her, snatched her wig off, and dragged her across the table and floor, resulting in leg and feet injuries. Eventually, Dues claims she left the scene after being attacked and called 911, relaying to dispatchers that she felt unsafe.

Furthermore, a video of the incident spread quickly on social media shortly after it occurred, with some folks assuming that the victim was Staten Island rapper Cleotrapa. However, given her tweet denying this, it seems like initial reports on a police investigation were probably a factor that caused this assumption, since the MC shares a similar name to the woman that reportedly filed a report. It’s also very hard to identify in the video whether it’s really Mariah The Scientist, plus whether the victim is really Cleotrapa. Regardless, whoever Dues is wants to press charges and to ask Cavo for any additional surveillance footage of what happened.

Still, apparently Dues didn’t have her glasses on at the time of the alleged brawl, so she wasn’t able to fully identify who her supposed assailant was. Reportedly, she went on to identify Mariah The Scientist as the alleged culprit, real name Mariah Buckles. Dues said that she has no idea why Thugger’s boo attacked her, as she claimed she hadn’t interacted with her or any of her friends at all. As such, you can see why this is a bizarre situation.

Finally, full-circling back to this reported arrest, Atlanta police apparently booked Mariah The Scientist yesterday on a battery charge, and she bonded out later in the day. While this is a mysterious legal claim to deal with, it’s also not the only brush-in she had with a legal matter recently. As Young Thug’s partner, the Atlanta native has been very supportive of him amid his RICO trial. There have been some alleged bumps on the way, but they seem pretty stable now as a couple, this arrest notwithstanding.

Beyonce’s Name Added To The 2024 French Dictionary

Beyonce has accomplished about as much as anybody in music. She has more Grammys than anyone else, though she’s notably never won the album of the year award. While she’ll get the chance once again next year with her new album Cowboy Carter, she’s already achieved something significant today. Her name now has an official entry and definition in the newest edition of the French Dictionary. She’s one of 40 names both French and international that were added to the newest version.

Her listing won’t surprise anyone. “Beyonce” is a proper noun that’s defined in the dictionary as “”American singer of R&B and pop.” TMZ reports that a jury selected 150 notable names relevant to the French language to decide whether or not to add to the dictionary. In addition to Bey, this year also saw the addition of LeBron James, Cate Blanchett, and Christopher Nolan. Her addition to the dictionary is revealed just a few weeks after her new album Cowboy Carter hit number one on the Billboard 200 and placed its entire tracklist in the Hot 100. Check out Bey’s full dictionary entry below.

Lil Baby Artist Dirty Tay Gets 17-Year Sentence For Allegedly Shooting Toddler In The Head

Back in August of 2022, Dirty Tay was arrested for the alleged shooting of a three-year-old boy and his father. The Atlanta-based rapper, born Kentavious Wright, is signed to Lil Baby’s 4PF record label. At the time, he was reportedly booked into Fulton County Jail after a traffic stop on numerous counts. The counts included alleged attempted murder, aggravated assault, first-degree cruelty to children, violating Georgia’s Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and more. His girlfriend, who was with him during the traffic stop, was also taken into custody at the time. Reportedly, authorities found a gun on her person which allegedly belonged to Dirty Tay.

Allegedly, the boy and his father were leaving a barbershop when a Kia pulled up next to them, and someone in the car opened fire. The toddler was reportedly shot in the head, though the bullet was later removed and he’s since recovered. Further details of the alleged crime have not been revealed at the time of writing, but the Atlanta Police Department claimed it was likely gang-related and that the three-year-old’s father was the target. PartyNextDoor “P4” Review

There comes a time in everyone’s life when change is inevitable, even if it’s not something they truly want to embrace. It’s a commonality within the creative process. Every artist should take a leap of faith toward what may feel like a new chapter, no matter how ambitious it might seem. For PartyNextDoor, his efforts have been at the forefront of R&B for the last decade. The imprint he left on Nothing Was The Same might be minimal on paper but it became the foundation of what he’d accomplish on his first mixtape. He’s the connective tissue in the lineage of Toronto’s sound. Drake and The Weeknd undoubtedly helped shape that foundation, but Party expanded it further, especially as the artists mentioned above began exploring their sonic palettes to a globally appealing level. In fact, one could even argue that Party has remained the only artist out of the three who remains rooted in the regional sound they spearheaded.

Whereas previous efforts, such as PartyMobile and PartyNextDoor 3, showcased his evolution as a producer and a writer, it only slightly displayed his pop sensibilities without deviating from the cloudy Toronto soundscape he helped develop and refine over the years. That said, P4 marks a shift in PartyNextDoor’s career. He finally embraces a cleaner and crisp sound — taking the bedroom R&B production and toying with it for an all-encompassing project that captures his evolution as both an artist and a person. Ironically, that wasn’t the initial reaction when he dropped the NSFW album cover last month. Paired with early singles like “r e a l w o m a n” and “h e r o l d f r i e n d s,” it felt as though we’d be getting even more toxic relationship advice from an individual who has historically failed to maintain one. However, the hedonism has toned down significantly while the Mississauga-born artist faces a fork-in-the-road dilemma. Coming into his 30s, there’s an urge to settle down and find an anchor to his chaotic life but also a reluctance to enter this specific phase.

The first lyrics heard on the album’s intro “c o n t r o l” are on-brand for Party. “Take your clothes off,” he sings seductively, prefacing the explosion of sexual tension that follows. The airy, euphoric production contrasts the typical PND intro song — glitchy and moody tributes to after-hours, Instagram Models, paranoia, and graphic descriptions of his bedroom activity. His ability to disguise his carnal urges as romance becomes even more effective when combined with the lush layers of production, including accents of opulent violins. It feels as though love is on his mind until the outro when a woman, a recurring voice across the album skits, divulges that PartyNextDoor proposed a ménage á trois. And just like that, we’re back to square one.

However, that intro only opens the floodgates to the moral quandary he faces across the album: is romance a fleeting concept, especially when weighed against temptation? Songs like “s t u c k i n m y w a y s” and “n o c h i l l” provide classic PND vibes on all fronts, down to the detailed materialistic displays of affection to the melancholic production that embodies the nocturnal side of Toronto. On the former, PND contemplates this newfound love and confronts his commitment issues. “Lettin’ all my h*es go,” he sings, “Love doin’ somethin’ to me, to make me stay.” But just as quickly, he retreats, singing, “Baby, don’t you be offended/ ‘Cause I’m so stuck in my ways, I never wanna change.”

The entire album provides a mixed bag of everything that has turned PartyNextDoor into a generational talent, albeit understated. During an interview with Billboard this year, he explained how he treated many songs on his last two albums as demos. Though the dim and hazy sound helped distinguish him from his peers and also contributed to the overall allure, it didn’t necessarily translate to commercial success. But after crafting hits for everyone from Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Drake, and Ye, to name a few, he said that P4 finds him “using everything I learned as a producer, as a writer, as an engineer.”

As a result, the rawness of his sound has vanished in his latest album. Part of it is due to the intentional decision to ditch the gritty auto-tune-friendly melodies to allow his passionate vocal prowess to take center stage, fueling his fiery delivery. It’s a minor change and not one that he hasn’t explored in the past. However, it’s what helps make songs like “c h e e r s” and “f o r c e r t a i n” clear contenders for summer anthems. While “c h e e r s” feels like a blatant radio-friendly record (one that works, by the way), it can feel a bit like a forced effort that plays up to the algorithm of DSPs and social media. Meanwhile, “f o r c e r t a i n” fuses dancehall with tinges of Latin flare — it almost has the essence of “Wild Thoughts,” which comes as no surprise since that’s yet another hit record that his pen was behind.

The beauty behind P4 is that it’s an excellent depiction of PND’s artistry and personality. Though he often comes across as a guarded individual who would prefer to succumb to his toxic traits as a defense mechanism, P4 allows his vulnerability to grow on both paper and in the booth. It’s evident in the skits across the album where he lets us eavesdrop on heated arguments. Then, on songs like “f a m i l y,” he peers at the past through a rearview with reluctance to move forward, though an understanding that he has to. While lead singles like, “r e a l w o m a n,” and the DMX-sampling, “l o s e m y m i n d” were infectious enough to keep us hooked, it’s how these pieces fit into P4 that makes the album such a gratifying listen.

Metro Boomin Thinks Hip-Hop Is “Alive & Well” As Drake & Kendrick Lamar Beef Heats Up

Do you folks remember last year, right around this time, when the hip-hop community was debating whether the genre was dead or not? We hadn’t seen a No. 1 rap song or album in a long time as of May 2023, and it was a conversation that permeated through a lot of those 365 days. Well, nowadays that conversation looks very different, and it’s thanks to the biggest rap beef we’ve seen in at least a couple of years: Drake versus Kendrick Lamar. Right now, that’s the main event, but just a few weeks ago, there were many more players directly involved, namely Future and Metro Boomin.

Speaking of which, the St. Louis producer recently posted a picture of him in the studio (making some drums, as Drake requested) with the following caption: “HIP-HOP IS ALIVE AND WELL.” Of course, there are multiple different ways in which fans could be interpreting this message right now. The first is that Metro Boomin is teasing an upcoming project, song, or other related release on the way, and that this means that he will keep contributing to rap music’s canon very soon. The other and much more likely explanation is that he’s celebrating the success of his and Future’s collab album series, WE [STILL] DON’T TRUST YOU, and gassing up the release of Kendrick Lamar’s response track to Drake, “euphoria.”

Metro Boomin Comments On The State Of Rap Today

Furthermore, their Kendrick Lamar collaboration “Like That” on the series’ first installment is what really ignited the explosion of this whole beef, roping in Rick Ross, A$AP Rocky, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and more against Drake. Also, Metro Boomin had previous rumored issues with Drizzy, and these releases and disses exposed a lot of shifting relationships and bonds in the OVO camp and beyond. Right now, Aubrey Graham is probably hard at work on a response to K.Dot, and they’ve both teased nuclear weapons in their arsenal that they haven’t revealed yet. Only time will tell whether their bluffs will become bombs.

Meanwhile, even though Drake kind of shooed away everyone in this fight expect Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin is right to make this assessment of hip-hop, which has always been true since its birth over 50 years ago. Even though he didn’t come out as an explicit victor in this beef, his “Like That” track, its aftermath, and all his work this year has kept rap at a commercial and artistic high, plus previous chart-toppers in 2024 such as 21 Savage and others. Whether it’s reigning over Billboard charts or causing more interest in verse writing and bar work, it’s a stimulating, chaotic, but pretty fun time to be a hip-hop fan. But we need to acknowledge how to handle that attention responsibly, because the numbers are temporary, but the art is forever.

Xzibit Teases Potential “Pimp My Ride” Reboot

Xzibit has teased a reboot of the classic MTV show Pimp My Ride. Fans on social media are all excited about the series’ potential return. Pimp My Ride aired from 2004 to 2007 with Xzibit as its host. Xzibit would take people busted down cars and pimp them out at West Coast Customs garage. They would go wild on these cars, putting anything from fishtanks to video gems to fully functioning BBQ grills in this vehicle. The series is from a bygone era on MTV, and fans are nostalgic about it.

Xzibit posted a picture on Instagram on Wednesday, which sparked excitement among fans. Fans immediately suspected that a reboot of Pimp My Ride is in the works. The post, which features a top-down view of a tricked-out muscle car, was accompanied by the caption, “It’s Time To Get Back To Customizing Cars.” The post also features a cryptic date, which might indicate when the news will be officially announced. Fans hope it is real and an announcement will be made next week.

Xzibit Gets Fans Excited For Pimp My Rides Return

Fans are wondering if the show will indeed come back and how wild the customizations will be. Back in the day, Xzibit’s car customizations were out of control. Some were even so wild that they would seem impossible to drive. The show’s popularity and nostalgia come form the customizations but also Xzibit’s hosting capabilities. He was entertaining as a host and had some very memorable and hilarious moments. If it comes back, hopefully, X will be back as its host.

Rapper Xzibit was a well-known and accomplished rapper before the sereis, but it took his fame to a new level. With Xzibit and the program both so successful, viewers were taken aback when Pimp My Ride was canceled after just six seasons. X hasn’t always had a good relationship with the show’s creators, despite him hinting at the show’s comeback if there was any time to bring the show back, it’s now. Overall, it will be an exciting and nostalgic sensation if the Pimp My Ride Reboot is real. What wild pimped-out customizations can you make with 2024 car technology?
