J. Cole Reveals “The Off-Season” Cover & Release Date

J. Cole’s The Off-Season album will officially be arriving on Friday, May 14th. Shortly after the date was teased by his Dreamville labelmate Bas, Cole himself took to Twitter to confirm the release date, sharing the album cover in the process.

“Just know this was years in the making,” he writes. “My new album The Off-Season available everywhere 5/14.” Check out the majestic and slightly foreboding album cover, which finds Cole standing in the foreground as a basketball net burns behind him, below.

The rapper officially made the big reveal after yet another hype-inducing tweet, catching attention with a tone-setting: “Is this thing on.” It’s as of yet unclear as to whether or not The Off-Season will follow the expected tradition of “no features,” but many are certainly eager to find out. Generally, Cole tends to tackle the bulk of the production himself, but it’s feeling like his frequent collaborator T-Minus is destined to be involved to some degree. Expect further details on the tracklist to surface in the coming days, provided Cole maintains this streak of generosity.

Suffice it to say, it’s starting to feel like an exciting time in hip-hop, especially given that Kendrick Lamar and Drake are both due for releases in the near future as well. Share your thoughts on J. Cole’s latest Off-Season reveal now, and sound off if you’re excited to see this one arriving in full on Friday, May 14th.

Benny The Butcher & Uncle Murda Link Up With ItzBizkit For “Straight Cap”

ItsBizkit has gone from playing a heavy role behind the scenes to now, establishing himself as a rapper in his own right. The self-proclaimed ‘Biggest Blogger In The World’ has been releasing some straight heat over the past year. He connected with DreamDoll and Jadakiss on “Outside”  in October and now, he’s teamed up with two of New York’s grittiest wordsmiths for a brand new cut called, “Straight Cap.”

With New York getting ready to open back up, ItsBizkit connects with Benny The Butcher and Uncle Murda for a brand new banger. With ItzBizkit on hook duties, Murda holds down the first verse with an assertion of being the most disrespectful in the game before Benny swoops in with top-tier coke bars and an excellent reference to the Quavo & Saweetie Bentley debacle.

Check the record out below.

Quotable Lyrics
Life’s a bitch, I count a quarter up while she sit on my lap
A plug from San Diego was all I had for a label
For breakfast, he had two 8Balls of coke and a bagel
She want every new bag but don’t bring shit to the table
So when I leave, bitch, the whips comin’ with me like I’m Quavo

Adam Sandler Responds To Viral TikTok Of Himself Leaving IHOPs

A hostess at IHOP revealed that she had unknowingly turned Adam Sandler and his daughter away in a viral TikTok that has garnered upwards of 11M views so far. A hostess at Manhasset International House of Pancakes shared a TikTok explaining that a masked Sandler walked in and was informed that there would be a 30-minute wait.

“Not realizing its Adam Sandler and telling him it’s a 30min wait and him ofc leaving bc he’s not going to wait 30mins for IHOP,” hostess Dayanna Rodas captioned the TikTok. Sandler’s publicist later confirmed to HuffPost that it was the actor.

Sandler took to Twitter with a comedic take on the clip. Apparently, it wasn’t the 30-minute wait that turned him off. “For the record, I only left the IHOP because the nice woman told me the all-you-can-eat deal didn’t apply to the milkshakes,” he wrote on Twitter.

Rodas told the New York Post that it was only after Sandler and his daughter left that she found out who he was. “It wasn’t until a customer walked in about 15 minutes later saying, ‘Adam Sandler was outside,’ when I realized I spoke to Adam Sandler!” she said.

Drake Cracks Up After Learning Moneybagg Yo’s Government Name

After attaining his first No. 1 album with A Gangsta’s Pain, Moneybagg Yo is well on his way to becoming a household name. However, when it comes to names, the Memphis rapper was surprised to find his government name used as trivia during a Music Choice stream of his album’s defiant single “Time Today.” Catching a video of the moment, Yo zoomed in on the “Did You Know?” section of the screen informing viewers that “Moneybagg Yo’s real name is Demario Dewayne White Jr.,” declaring Music Choice to be “police as hell.”

“Appreciate the love but damn!” he exclaims in the video. “Talking about, ‘Did y’all know his real name?’”

Moneybagg Yo must not have Googled himself recently because it isn’t that hard to find this information in the public sphere. For what it’s worth though, the whole point of a trivia section is to reveal things to a reader that they might not have been aware of before. One person who did seem amused by Moneybagg’s real name — or at least, his reaction to it — was Drake, who commented on DJ Akademiks’ post about Yo’s discovery. “DD White mayne,” he wrote, accompanying his post with several laughing emojis.

Ultimately, Moneybagg Yo is likely to be the one to get the last laugh. He’s been too busy celebrating his wins to worry about internet commenters throwing shade, laughing off one critic’s assertion on TikTok that one of his recent performances was “boring.”

The clip stems from his pre-Khaled Khaled album teasers, in which he was slowly rolling out the list of high-profile features he had lined up for the album.

Back when the album was only about 98% complete, DJ Khaled shared the video, which became an instant hit with the meme community. Almost immediately, people began using different captions to describe the video, joking that Khaled had remembered to cancel his free Amazon Prime trial in the middle of lunch. Now that the world has had time to sit with his latest album, which is on pace to sell 100,000 copies and debut at #1 on the charts, DJ Khaled is becoming a global meme.

Meechy Darko Teases Upcoming Solo Album

The Flatbush Zombies have earned praise as one of the game’s most consistent crews, having made strong impressions on projects like Vacation In Hell, Beast Coast’s Escape From NY, and their latest release Now, More Than Ever. And while many have been anticipating another full-length drop from the collective, it would appear that Erick Arc Elliott, Zombie Juice, and Meechy Darko have been taking the time to work on their respective solo careers.

While we recently saw a new release from Elliott, who showcased a different side of his artistry with Future Proof, there has been a heavy demand for a full-length release from the explosive and dynamic Meechy Darko. Evidently, it would appear that the time is indeed coming, as Meechy has been steadily crafting his own upcoming solo album. In fact, the gravelly-voiced emcee took a moment to share a status update on his Twitter page, writing a concise but telling “Album almost done.”

Though he neglected to share any additional details surrounding the project, he doesn’t exactly need to as the hype speaks for itself. Many Flatbush Zombies fans have long wanted a substantial project from Darko, who has frequently stolen the show on no shortage of tracks. It will certainly be interesting to see how he approaches crafting his solo debut, and whether or not he reaches out to his Beast Coast collaborators for assistance.

He might very well have to, considering that many of his peers may very well be afraid to hop on board. “Im starting to think ni**as scared to rap with MEech,” he tweets. “I don’t even wanna just say that to say it but i really feel that everytime I play a song or ask a Ni*ga to jump on the album it get awkward.”

Check out his recent album-centric tweets below, and stay tuned for more news on Meechy Darko’s upcoming project.

Lamar Odom Mourns His Dad: “We Had Our Differences But He Still Loved Me”

Lamar Odom has been dealing with the loss of his father, Joe Odom, for the past two weeks. Initially revealing his father’s passing on April 20th, the former pro athlete took time on Monday (May 3) to thank those who reached out and to mourn his death. The 41-year-old ex-NBA star explained in the tribute to his late father that while they often clashed, they ultimately had lots of love for each other.

Sharing a photo on Instagram of a gorgeous portrait Odom’s rumored girlfriend Karlie Redd had commissioned of him and his father, he began, “Thank you to everyone who extended love and prayers to me during my time of bereavement. I appreciate every single one of you for sending me good energy.”

Continuing, he addressed the differences he and his father had, declaring that ultimately, it was still all love. “Life is not promised. My pops and I had our differences but at the end of the day I knew he loved me and I loved him and that’s really all that matters,” Odom said.

He continued, “I encourage you to take some time and make amends with family and friends, tell someone you love them, smile a little more, laugh out loud, give your heart to those that deserve it because NOTHING is promised but death. That’s it.”

Joe and Lamar had a notoriously rocky relationship for years. Back in 2013, Lamar discontinued paying his father’s rent after he criticized the Kardashian family. In 2015, when Lamar suffered a drug overdose and had to be hospitalized, Joe claimed his wife at the time Khloe Kardashian was blocking him from visiting his son.

As explained in Lamar’s tribute, the two seemed to have reconciled over the years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lamar as he continues to grieve.
