Lecrae & Dee-1 React To Kendrick Lamar’s Surprise Release Shoutouts

Last night, Kendrick Lamar took the internet by storm by surprise releasing a new track on Instagram. The song, which fans have dubbed “Watch the Party Die,” sees him pick apart the music industry and modern culture. At different points, he even namedrops Christian rappers Lecrae and Dee-1, applauding them for their character.

“Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do / F*ck these n***as up or show ’em just what prayer do?” he rhymes towards the end of the song. “I want to be empathetic, my heart like Dee-1 / But I would—,” he spits at another point, omitting an apparent threat. Of course, Dee-1 and Lecrae wasted no time and quickly took to Twitter/X to share their reactions to the shoutout.

Lecrae & Dee-1 Thank Kendrick Lamar

“Love you Dot…. Always here,” Lecrae wrote simply alongside a prayer emoji. Dee-1 shared an old photo of him and Kendrick, thanking him for mentioning him and delivering a hopeful remark about the future. “I appreciate the shoutout brother. @kendricklamar [heart emoji] More than you’ll ever know. A shift is happening. The time is now! [prayer emoji].” As expected, Dee-1 and Lecrae are far from the only ones to share their reactions to Kendrick’s new song recently.

Shortly after it dropped, for example, DJ Akademiks took to his comments section with a brief but telling message. “No no noooo,” he wrote. Some listeners believe that Kendrick took aim at him subliminally on his latest drop, suggesting that he’s been too loyal to Drake over the past few months. “Influencers talk down ’cause I’m not with the basic sh*t,” Lamar raps. “But they don’t hate me, they hate the man that I represent / The type of man that never d*ck ride ’cause I want a favor.” What do you think of Kendrick Lamar’s new track? What about him name-dropping Lecrae and Dee-1? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

TI & Tiny Demand To Dismiss Defamation Lawsuit Over Unpaid Legal Fees

While T.I. and Tiny are encountering some legal wins here and there, they still have to put in more work when it comes to other lawsuits. One of these is a 2021 filing from Sabrina Peterson accusing them of defamation after they denied her accusations of threats and sexual abuse. However, an appeals court dismissed various allegations in June of 2023: trade libel, intentionally inflicted emotional distress, and intentionally negligent tampering with prospective economic advantage. Still, the court did let Peterson continue her pursuit of accountability when it comes to her claims of defamation and false light invasion of privacy.

Now, T.I. and Tiny are asking the judge to dismiss Peterson’s remaining accusations due to how she allegedly disobeyed a court order. Per supposed court documents reportedly obtained by In Touch Weekly, the two posited that she hasn’t paid them around $96,000 in legal fees that she owes them, which they think is on purpose. Sadly, this isn’t the end of the couple’s recent legal battles, although other recent events have seemingly wrapped up with ease. For example, it looks like Tip won’t have to face much further headache over his Atlanta airport arrest in what might’ve been a case of mistaken identity.

Back to this case with T.I., Tiny, and Sabrina Peterson, though: here’s what the duo’s lawyer Andrew Brettler apparently wrote. “She has willfully violated a court order,” the reported court documents supposedly read. “And, while wasting judicial resources, she forced [T.I. and Tiny] to incur significant legal fees defending a litany of claims, most have which have already been thrown out.” “[Peterson] and her attorneys took advantage of the legal system by filing a ‘kitchen sink’ complaint, hoping that the nature of their allegations would attract enough media attention, which would then, in turn, put pressure on [T.I. and Tiny] to settle,” the attorney added. “[Peterson] and her lawyers never had any intention of diligently prosecuting this case.”

Furthermore, this ordered payment comes from an additional October judgement. The judge said that Peterson must cough up around $96,000 after the court dismissed more claims. T.I. and Tiny claim that Peterson boasted on social media about not paying the couple by her due date of January 15. Not only did they argue that their legal battles couldn’t continue until this ordered payment comes through, but they also accused Peterson of abusing the court system by trying to pressure a settlement. They now await a judgement on this motion to dismiss, and continually deny any accusations of defaming Peterson.

Pharrell Admits He And Chad Hugo Aren’t Speaking Amid Neptunes Legal Dispute

Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo have been wrapped up in a legal battle over rights to their production duo The Neptunes for a while now. Hugo took legal action against Pharrell in March, accusing him and his company of attempting to file to register trademarks for the group name without his permission. Sadly, their legal issues also mean they’re no longer on speaking terms, as Pharrell revealed during a recent interview.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he explained that even though he’s not talking to Hugo, he wishes him the best. “No,” Pharrell said when asked if they were still on speaking terms. “But I love him, and I always wish him the absolute best, and I’m very grateful for our time together.” He later confirmed that Hugo’s voice still appears in his Lego biopic Piece By Piece, despite the dispute.

When Hugo first took legal action against his collaborator earlier this year, he alleged that Pharrell acted in bad faith by excluding him from the Neptunes trademark applications. “Throughout their over 30-year history, [Hugo] and Williams agreed to, and in fact, have divided all assets,” his lawyer Kenneth D. Freundlich claimed. “By ignoring and excluding [Hugo] from the any and all applications filed by applicant for the mark ‘The Neptunes,’ applicant has committed fraud in securing the trademarks and acted in bad faith.”

A rep for Pharrell responded at the time, insisting that there was no fraudulent intent behind the filings. What do you think of Pharrell Williams revealing that he and Chad Hugo are not on speaking terms? Does this surprise you or not? Kendrick Lamar Declares It’s Time To “Watch The Party Die” On First Single Since “Not Like Us”

In his Super Bowl LIX announcement, Kendrick Lamar declared there’s “no round twos.” However, with the new song he dropped on Wednesday (Sept. 11) — speculatively titled “Watch the Party Die” — it’s hard to believe that. It marked his first release since “Not Like Us,” which took shots at Drake and hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, though this one’s only available on Instagram at the time of reporting.

Kendrick Lamar’s Childhood Friend Drops A Bombshell Following Surprise Release

After months of theorizing and celebrating for pgLang Stans, Kendrick Lamar is apparently (and finally) kicking his rollout into full gear. Whether this is first and foremost a rollout for his Super Bowl LIX halftime show or a potential new album remains a mystery. However, thanks to K.Dot’s longtime friend Euro on Twitter, we have hope that it won’t be long until we find out. “That’s just a teaser watch the next s**t,” he responded to a fan who tagged him in a post about Kendrick’s new untitled song. As such, it seems like we might get a follow-up to this new release sooner rather than later.

However, it’s still anyone’s guess as to what this “next s**t” even means. Is it a new album, a new hot single, a compilation project, another Drake diss, or just more and more hype until the big New Orleans stage on February 9? Either way, it’s clear that it’s Kendrick Lamar season right now, and there are so many ways in which it could develop. Fans are even looking deeply into the eBay listing of some Black Forces that he used as his cover art.

Kendrick Lamar’s Friend Says He’s Just Getting Started

In addition, they also might be reading a bit too deeply into the new song itself, which has some references to Drake throughout. Still, these allusions are more factual and historical than they are straight-up disses, jabs, or re-instigations. It’s more of a track in which Kendrick Lamar vents against the industry and the culture, using his recent victory as a jumping-off point. While some fans out there are criticizing him for seemingly contradicting his promise of “no Round 2s,” it’s also not accurate to call this a second round in the first place.

If this new song proved anything, it’s that this narrative and thematic focus for Kendrick Lamar goes far beyond just Drake. If his friend Euro is right, then we will probably hear a lot more about this in the near future. But it’s also possible that this is just a final vent for the Compton lyricist to speak on his enemies, haters, and problems once and for all before continuing a West Coast celebration, a pgLang/TDE renaissance, or whatever else he has in store. Whatever it is, it feels great to finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel… Or at least, that’s what we hope.

Kendrick Lamar Dug Up An eBay Listing For New Song’s Cover Art

Whenever Kendrick Lamar drops something, you can bet on a whole lot of content in the aftermath that breaks down all the details we didn’t catch on first listen, whether they’re reaches or not. However, sometimes this process can be as simple as tracing back the origins of a certain image. Moreover, Internet sleuths found out that the cover art for his new untitled song, commonly referred to as “Watch The Party Die” online, actually comes from a $70 eBay listing for a pair of black used ’82 Nike Air Force 1s. In fact, the listing sold that very same night that the song came out (Wednesday, September 11).

Furthermore, folks are obviously dissecting a lot of other aspects about this new Kendrick Lamar song and reacting to it appropriately. As you can imagine, the OVO team – including Mr. “Weird Case” Baka Not Nice – isn’t very happy about this song coming out, or thinks it’s not worth anyone’s time. But for pgLang-heads and hip-hop fans at large on any side of the fence, it’s very exciting to see this rollout kick into full-ish gear. Let’s see what that lead single sounds like…

Kendrick Lamar Lurked On eBay For New Song’s Cover Art

Elsewhere, a lot of fans are also breaking down what Kendrick Lamar had to say to Drake on this new track. However, it’s not much. On this new record, there are many reflections on the battle and what happened between these MCs, but nothing in the way of new criticisms, attacks, or specific or subliminal shots. Instead, the criticisms on “Watch The Party Die” are more general towards the industry and state of the culture as a whole, much like K.Dot’s “The Heart” series. As such, calling this “the start of Round 2” after both sides seemed to sidestep it is a mischaracterization on many fans’ behalf.

Still, it doesn’t mean that this new Kendrick Lamar song didn’t light another fire under the game for a minute. DJ Akademiks was one of many who went absolutely wild online with their reactions and assessments. Sometimes, these folks are very critical of these moves, whereas others couldn’t be more praiseful. In any case, we’re all excited to see what happens next, and we’re sure that this eBay buyer and seller still can’t believe that they’re a party of hip-hop history now.
