SOCIALizing: Miami Heat Take Stance on “X” Against Hate And Anti Haitian Rhetoric

image

If you have been paying attention lately you’d see that Trump, JD Vance and a bunch of right wing weirdos have been straight up lying about lawful Haitian immigrants, primarily living in Springfield, Ohio. The state JD Vance is a senator. Unreal. But far from the midwest town, in Miami, Florida, where there’s huge Haitian American and immigrant community, the NBA’s Heat franchise has taken a stand against hate. They just tweeted the following:

“The Miami Heat staff, like Miami itself, is a diverse and brilliant mix of vibrant culture, including many members of our Haitian community. The false narrative surround them is hurtful and offensive and had sadly made innocent people targets of hateful speech and physical threats. Our Haitian employees, fans and friends deserve better. Ansanm nou kanpé fo.”

Nicki Minaj Responds To Super Bowl Halftime Show Producer’s Claim That Jay-Z Picks The Artist

Nicki Minaj has arguably been Lil Wayne’s strongest defender amid the Kendrick Lamar Super Bowl halftime show controversy. She blasted Jay-Z for the supposedly hate-fueled decision to not appoint Lil Wayne for the New Orleans stage next year. All of these details and many more are still unclear. But we got a new claim to add to these contradictions. Jesse Collins, a producer for the spectacle since 2021, recently claimed that Hov is the one who has final say in what artists perform, and that the show is largely of his own design.

It’s a decision that Jay makes,” Jesse Collins said of the Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and Kendrick Lamar controversy. “Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!” Nicki Minaj reacted to this by replying to a report on the matter with a laughing emoji on Twitter. Even though we don’t know what she’s exactly laughing at here, we can make a pretty obvious assumption that she still blames him at least partially for what went down.

Also, Nicki Minaj’s disdain for Jay-Z extends to other business dealings, primarily how she allegedly never saw a dime for partnering with his TIDAL streaming service. This is all a bit tragic but also unsurprising to see given the very complicated relationship between Young Money and the Roc, which extends to the rest of the rap world. Regardless of where you fall on that Super Bowl debate, seeing the late 2000s and early 2010s implode among itself in 2024 has been one of the most significant rap moments of the year.

“This too, shall pass,” Nicki Minaj penned to Lil Wayne. “But what you have done for the hip-hop culture will remain. It will stand the TEST of time. Many times our greatest & most dehumanizing test is just a way for God to get the glory. You were simply used in a war of egos. To ppl who are empty inside, all they have is their temporary power.” We’ll see how this ends…

Dame Dash Claims Drake Offered To Buy His “Reasonable Doubt” Share

Like many other of his hip-hop relationships, Drake shares a pretty rocky history with Jay-Z. They’ve sent supposed subliminals at each other, collaborated, and gone back and forth on this dynamic at least twice now. Moreover, many folks think that Kendrick Lamar performing at the Super Bowl halftime show over Lil Wayne is Hov’s way of slighting Young Money (and by extension, the 6ix God) through his NFL partnership. Some folks think that Jay offered it to Drizzy in the past to no avail. But Dame Dash recently threw another wrench into this history, as he claimed that The Boy reached out to him to respond to Dame’s sale offers for his one-third share of Reasonable Doubt.

“As for battle rap, there’s never been a battle rap where, you know, the record becomes a hit, puts another artist in a very uncomfortable position – pause – and then they get to perform it at the Super Bowl,” Dame Dash said of the Toronto superstar’s Kendrick battle and the Super Bowl debate. “I’m thinking, like, what I would do if I was Drake. I’d be like, ‘Well, a big W would be to come to the Super Bowl with one of these Roc-A-Fella chains.’ Drake hollered at me through a DM and made and offer. I’m not quite sure what happened. But I thought that he had got with Jay on something, but I don’t know.

Dame Dash Makes Bold Drake & Jay-Z Claim

“But it would be a good time to close if you got it,” Dame Dash continued. “You know, I wouldn’t do it if you don’t got it. If you want to own Reasonable Doubt, if you want to own a third of it, have a say at the board meeting for at least the next seven years and make money off of it, I would get these chains. Or one, you get one. And I’ma make it even better. I spoke to Alligator Jesus and I was like, ‘Yo, if somebody does buy it for this price, now I got to give some Roc-A-Fella grills.’ So I guess I’ll put up some Roc-A-Fella grills as well if you have the bread.”

Meanwhile, one of the producers for the Super Bowl halftime show, Jesse Collins, recently claimed to Variety that Jay-Z is the one who picks its artists. “It’s a decision that Jay makes,” he remarked regarding the decision-making that goes on behind the scenes. “Since we’ve been on board with that show, he’s made it every year, and it’s been amazing. He’s always picked right!

50 Cent trolled Desiigner on Instagram on Monday amid his ongoing feud with the rapper. I was like, ‘Yo, let me hear the other records you got.’ And he’s like… ‘That’s it,’” he recalled. “And the sh*t was so hot that he had, I was struggling. Trump Introduces Latin Music Star Nicky Jam At Rally But Says “She’s Hot” In Weird Gaffe

image

Before the chaos in Florida, you might have caught what happened at a recent Las Vegas rally, where Donald Trump misgendered reggaeton star Nicky Jam while introducing him.

Look, let’s call it what it is. Trump probably had no clue who Nicky Jam was and calling him a woman and proceeding to call him (thinking he was a she) hot, is just his typical misogyny towards women in plain sight.

Specifically, Trump said, “Latin music superstar Nicky Jam. Do you know Nicky? She’s hot.” The incident occurred during a Friday event at The Expo at World Market Center.

Trump weirdly and quickly corrected himself once Nicky Jam, whose real name is Nick Rivera Caminero, approached the stage. “Oh, look, I’m glad he came up,” Trump remarked. Wearing a red “Make America Great Again” cap, Nicky Jam expressed his gratitude, telling Trump, “People that come from where I come from, they don’t meet the president. So, I’m lucky. We need you. We need you back, right? We need you to be the president.”

Weird. Just plain, weird.

Nicky Jam, originally from Massachusetts and raised in Puerto Rico, is one of several reggaeton stars, including Anuel AA and Justin Quiles, who have shown support for Trump’s presidential candidacy. Despite the misgendering, Nicky Jam seemed to brush off the incident, posting a photo with Trump on Instagram with the caption, “Nicky jam la potra la bichota,” along with laughing emojis. The phrase translates loosely to “the filly, the big shot,” a Latin slang term popularized by Colombian singer Karol G in her 2020 song, “Bichota.”

Anyways not everyone was happy about Jam’s endorsement and he’s receiving plenty of fallout over the appearance at the rally.

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS 26, CINCINNATI BENGALS 25

The Chiefs narrowly defeated the Bengals 26-25, with Harrison Butker’s 51-yard field goal sealing the win. Despite two interceptions of Patrick Mahomes, the Bengals couldn’t overcome the defending champions.

PITTSBURGH STEELERS 13, DENVER BRONCOS 6

The Steelers defeated the Broncos 13-6, as Denver rookie QB Bo Nix struggled, throwing his third interception of the season. Pittsburgh’s backup QB Justin Fields led the team to a 2-0 start.

HOUSTON TEXANS 19, CHICAGO BEARS 13

The Texans beat the Bears 19-13, with C.J. Stroud passing for 260 yards and a touchdown. Houston’s defense dominated, sacking Bears QB Caleb Williams seven times and intercepting him twice.

Former Laker Coach Byron Scott Changes His Tune On JJ Redick Head Coach Hiring

image

Great thing about opinions, you can change them. Apparently, that’s the case with Byron Scott, former Lakers player and coach, who just revised his opinion on the Los Angeles Lakers’ decision to hire JJ Redick as their new head coach.

ICYMI, initially, Scott was critical of the move, expressing doubts about Redick’s lack of professional coaching experience.

While speaking with our friends at TMZ Sports, Scott said, “I got a lot of respect for him because of what he’s done in the league, but when it comes to coaching, people wanted an experienced coach.” His perspective changed after learning about the seasoned coaching staff Redick assembled, including veteran coaches Nate McMillan and Scott Brooks. McMillan has coached teams like the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks, while Brooks led the Oklahoma City Thunder to the NBA Finals.

Get this, Scott acknowledged the impact of these additions, saying, “You got some guys who have head coaching experience, who’ve been on that bench before, who’ve won championships on that bench.” With this experienced support, Scott now feels more confident in Redick’s potential to succeed with the Lakers.

“I’m excited. I think JJ’s going to do well with the staff that he has and the players that he has,” Scott went on to add. He also emphasized the importance of LeBron James and Anthony Davis staying healthy for the team’s success under Redick’s leadership. According to Scott, the Lakers’ ability to thrive this season will largely depend on keeping their star players available.

Check this, although initially skeptical, Scott has grown optimistic about Redick’s prospects as head coach. He also hinted at future coaching plans of his own, suggesting something significant might be on the horizon for his career. For now, Scott is focused on watching how Redick and his new coaching staff navigate the upcoming NBA season.

At the end of the day, he can watch all day long but JJ Redick is the coach. Period.
