Katy Perry is still riding high from the 2024 VMAs (where she received the coveted Video Vanguard Award).

While her 143 album has received a mountain of pushback, most notably around its professional affiliation with Dr. Luke, there is one collaboration fans are digging: During the VMAs, Katy Perry debuted her track “I’m His, He’s Mine” with Doechii.

Now, the unapologetically possessive record, which samples Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless),” has an official music video to match. Throughout the video directed by Torso, Katy Perry and Doechii demonstrate just how they mark their romantic territory.

“I’m his queen, I’m his freak / I’m every woman he wants and needs / I’m his dream, I’m his drug / I’m every woman he wants, so what? / I’m his boss, I’m that b*tch / I’m every woman he knows exists / I’m his main, I’m his side / I’m every woman that’s in his mind,” sings the pair.

From daredevil like stunts to full-on PDA, Katy Perry and Doechii hold nothing back. In interviews, Katy Perry discloses intimate details of her relationship with Orlando Bloom, but “I’m His, He’s Mine” takes it to another level.

The piece in question is a diamond-encrusted Ruff Ryders chain with a single ruby link. Celebrity jeweler Elliot Eliantte first flaunted the shimmering piece in a video on Instagram. It quickly caught the attention of countless fans. “The Legendary DoubleR [three diamond emojis] Made For @therealswizzz [three fire emojis, shocked face emoji] #ShouldaWentToElliot,” Eliantte captioned the post.

Jadakiss even took to his comments section to weigh in on the stunning piece. He revealed that it made him consider getting something like it for himself. “@therealswizzz i need something similar lol,” he wrote alongside a series of fire emojis.

Swizz Beatz then went on to post a clip of the Ruff Ryders chain on his own Instagram Story, sharing that it was a gift to himself. According to him, he purchased it in honor of his own 46th birthday. “I had to 2025 the RR piece for my bday [prayer hands emoji] thx @eliantte all pointers if you know you know [sighing face emoji],” he said. While most can agree that the piece is impressive, the same can’t be said for Swizz Beatz’s new Verzuz deal with Elon Musk.

The duo announced that they’d be distributing Verzuz through Musk’s platform X in June, prompting a great deal of backlash from fans. Many accused them of “selling out,” and called attention to some questionable Tweets Musk had recently supported. LL COOL J Leads Def Jam Tribute At VMAs Alongside Public Enemy

As Def Jam’s first artist and the MC behind their first single, it’s only natural that LL COOL J would lead the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards’ tribute to the label’s 40th anniversary at Wednesday’s ceremony (September 11). He kicked things off with “Headsprung” and “The G.O.A.T.,” and Public Enemy swftly followed as Chuck D and Flavor Flav performed “Bring The Noise.” Then, LL came back for renditions of “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “Rock The Bells,” “Around The Way Girl,” and “Goin’ Back To Cali.” In fact, he also performed some cuts off of his new album THE FORCE, namely “Passion” and “Proclivities” with Saweetie (who did not perform).

Finally, LL COOL J performed “Doin’ It” and closed off a pretty awesome performance to celebrate Def Jam and its impact. Beforehand, Busta Rhymes introduced him as “true trailblazer… also my hero. He’s not only a hip-hop innovator, he’s not only a godfather, big homie and a mentor. He was the first artist to release an album on Def Jam and a force to be reckoned with.” It all rings true.

LL COOL J & Public Enemy’s Def Jam Tribute At 2024 VMAs

Elsewhere, LL COOL J kept up a bit of a nostalgic streak through his “Murdergram Deux” music video with Eminem. In it, they recreate a variety of classic hip-hop album covers such as LL’s 1987 record Bigger And Deffer and include plenty of other cheeky visual references and moments. It’s been a great year for the New York native, whether it’s looking back on his storied career or continuing his legacy and artistry with new releases. As controversial as Def Jam’s history has been up to this point, it’s fitting that he’s the one to sum up its best parts.

Meanwhile, the VMAs this year also held other very notable moments, such as Eminem’s opening performance of “Houdini” and Megan Thee Stallion’s various pop star homages. It feels like everyone is in the spirit of celebration these days following hip-hop’s 50th anniversary last year, so this Def Jam tribute continues that party. Someone wants it to die, but that’s another story… In the meantime, LL COOL J will continue to rock the stage and represent the culture.

Playboi Carti Hypes Up Kanye West Collab On Upcoming Album

Playboi Carti is back… For now. Of course, it’s entirely possible that this whole rollout hype ends up being a false flag, but we’d rather keep our optimism while we can. As such, many fans are more excited than ever for the confirmed release of his new album, I AM MUSIC (or just MUSIC? We’ll see…). This became especially true after the Atlanta rage star hinted at more Kanye West collabs on this next project. “@ye KANT WAIT 2 SHOW THE WORLD WHAT WE BEEN WORKING ON WIT DIS ALBUM WE DA REAL 5L NO DOUBT,” he shared on his Instagram Story on Friday (September 13), which is coincidentally Carti’s birthday. Happy trip around the sun!

However, just as many fans are skeptical due to Ye’s shoddy releases as of late. But the two have a relatively extensive collaborative history dating back to the Chicago artist’s executive production on Playboi Carti’s Whole Lotta Red and feature on its track “Go2DaMoon.” Almost everything else has been on Kanye West albums: “Off The Grid” and “Junya” off Donda, “Mr. Miyagi” off Donda 2, “FUK SUMN” and “CARNIVAL” off VULTURES 1, “FIELD TRIP” off VULTURES 2, and Ye’s production on Carti’s “2024.” Another reason for skepticism, though, concerns Carti’s new single “ALL RED.”

Furthermore, many fans think that Playboi Carti emulated Future too much on this new song, even if they’re grateful that he finally seems to be kicking his next era into full gear. We’ll see what the next step is in this process. Elsewhere, he also put up pre-orders for box sets of the new album, which you can pair with a hoodie, a T-shirt, or a hat. As far as a release date or anything like that, everyone is still in the dark.

According to the Opium boss’ website, these pre-orders will ship no later than six months after September 12, so that’s at least one indication suggesting that the latest we could get the LP is around March or April of next year. Hopefully, it’s sooner… Regardless of all this, there is one other Playboi Carti collab on the horizon that definitely has fans more excited. He recently was a special guest at The Weeknd’s São Paulo show to debut a new song together.

Last weekend, Kendrick Lamar announced that he’ll be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show. The announcement has since prompted mixed reactions from social media users and peers. Many are outraged that the Compton-born performer was chosen over Lil Wayne, as the game will take place in his hometown of New Orleans. Others see it as the cherry on top of an already huge year for Kendrick, who came out victorious in his lyrical battle with Drake.

During a recent episode of New Rory & Mal, however, Mal claimed that Drake has been asked to headline the Super Bowl various times. His revelation left his co-hosts, and most viewers, incredibly skeptical. After all, turning an opportunity like that down on multiple occasions seems odd, as does the fact that this is the first the public is hearing of this.

Mal Claims Drake Turned Down Super Bowl Multiple Times

“I don’t know why he would turn it down,” Mal added. “That’s up to the artist.” According to Bloomberg, however, sources have now shut this rumor down. “It’s a blatant lie,” one of them told the outlet. Reportedly, Drake hasn’t been offered the opportunity a single time in the five years since Jay-Z’s Roc Nation partnered with the NFL. With that being said, Mal also claimed that he spoke to Drake earlier this week. He said that the topic of Kendrick headlining the Super Bowl happened to come up.

Mal didn’t share too many details of what Drake allegedly had to say about it. He did suggest, however, that the Toronto rapper was unfazed by the announcement. “A lot of it was just laughing, man,” Mal said. “It’s just like ‘word this is what y’all want to see? Victoria Monét Announced The ‘Jaguar II’ Deluxe Album’s Release Date, Now Fans Are Clawing For More Clues

Victoria Monét isn’t abandoning with her multiple Grammy Award-winning album, Jaguar II just yet. Today (September 13), the “Alright” singer announced the long-awaited deluxe version of the project is finally on the way.

Over on X (formerly Twitter), Victoria revealed the forthcoming album’s release date, writing: “🐆 JAGUAR II DELUXE is otw!! 🐆🤎 10/4! It’s available for pre-order right now. ✨🎉 go do that please 😌.”

Back in February during an appearance on iHeart Radio’s The New Hit List, Victoria confirmed she begun working on the project but was hesitant to share any further details. Now, supporters have a better understanding of what’s to come thanks to a sit down with Apple Music’s New Music Daily, we know Jaguar II will feature several new tracks within the parameters of the Jaguar musical universe.

So far, Victoria has released one new track, “SOS (Sex On Sight)” with Usher, which is slated to appear on the upcoming body of work. Over on the Apple Music pre-save page, eight unnamed tracks will join “SOS (Sex On Sight),” and Victoria’s Bryson Tiller duet “We Might Even Be Falling In Love” to make up the Jaguar II Deluxe‘s official tracklist.

But this project is bittersweet moment for Victoria’s superfans. Victoria has made it clear that Jaguar II Deluxe marks the end of this era sonically. However, there’s still more to come.
