Chrisean Rock Reunites With Son After Being Released From Prison: Watch

Chrisean Rock has had a difficult 2024. The rapper was arrested while attending a hearing for the father of her child, Blueface. She was subsequently accused of possession of controlled dangerous substances with intent to distribute. According to TMZ, she was also accused of failure to have a tax stamp affixed to the substances in question. The rapper faced up to eight years in prison. There were rumors of her being released soon, but no concrete dates were given. It turns out that September 6 was the fateful day. The rapper was set free, and allowed to reunite with her son.

A video of Chrisean Rock holding and kissing her son was uploaded to Instagram. The rapper also wrote a lengthy, heartfelt message about how much her son means to her. “To be with you today,” Rock wrote. “Set free a couple days from your birthday is a blessing.” The rapper was behind bars when her son had his first birthday, and she admitted that missing out is something she’s going to struggle with for a long time. “Missing a significant event like a first birthday can bring feelings of sadness or regret,” she added. “But it’s also an opportunity to reflect.”

Chrisean Rock Regrets Missing Her Son’s First Birthday

Chrisean Rock was initially hesitant to turn herself in because she didn’t want to miss crucial time with her son. She made this point very clear during an Instagram Live prior to her arrest. “I have my son,” she asserted. “The old me would’ve just turned myself in… Right now I gotta play it cautious because, you know, I don’t plan on being in jail while my son is growing.” The cautious plan did not work out, however, and Chrisean Rock wound up having to miss her son’s birthday regardless.

The charges against Chrisean Rock stem from a 2022 incident. She was pulled over by police for an unpaid traffic toll, and the officers in question smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. A search led to the discovery of roughly one pound of cannabis inside the car. Rock’s next court date is September 27. If convicted on both of the aforementioned counts, the rapper will be behind bars for the better part of a decade.

Lil Durk Teases New Music After Dissing Current State Of Hip Hop

Lil Durk isn’t happy with the way things are going. He may be a Grammy-winning superstar, but he thinks hip hop is in a bad way. He made this clear on September 6. The rapper took to Twitter to vent about the genre and its shortcomings. “Hip hop ain’t what it used to be…,” he wrote. He didn’t get too specific with why or how the genre has let him down, but it has nonetheless. Lil Durk solution? To drop new music of his own. The rapper followed up his hot take with an Instagram announcement that he’s hungry to take over the rest of 2024.

Lil Durk hopped on Instagram and made it clear that he has new music on the way. The rapper recorded himself listening to an unreleased song, while the caption laid out his game plan. “F*ck numbers,” it read. “Feed the streets… Smurk back hungry.” The song in question is “Discontinuing Wockhardt,” the Drake collab that Adin Ross previewed a few days earlier. There’s a bit of hypocrisy in criticizing the rap game and then linking up with Drake for a new single, but Lil Durk stood on business. He thinks something is off, and he feels like he’s the guy to remedy it.

Lil Durk Teased The Release Of His New Drake Collab

Lil Durk has been transparent about his emotions over the years. He’s been outspoken in the past, but he’s also been forthright about his experiences in therapy. He shed light on the latter during an interview with Complex. “I got a therapist so I cope different,” the rapper explained. “You know, it don’t just gotta be I’m finna go take all these drugs, or I’m finna go get my feelings like this. I got my family, I got my girl, I got a therapist, I got my kids and I got the studio.”

Lil Durk’s criticisms about the genre are not wrong, even if they are vague. There’s been a general sense of uncertainty about hip hop in 2024. If your name isn’t Drake, Kendrick Lamar, or Travis Scott, it seems to be very difficult to move units. Mustard and YG fell victim to this in recent months. Big Sean, who just dropped his anticipated comeback album, just had the worst first week sales of his career. Durk is merely voicing what a lot of fans have been feeling. Is he using this feeling to generate hype for his new music? Sure. Such is the nature of the game.

Playboi Carti Confirms Anticipated “All Red” Music Video Is Coming Soon

Playboi Carti is a tough person to pin down. He’s become one of the most elusive artists in hip hop, and it’s very much by design. The rapper realized that there’s strength in keeping fans off balance. And he’s proceeded to do just that since the release of his breakout tape Die Lit. Playboi Carti has kept fans on the edge of their seats with regards to his upcoming album, despite failing to provide anything in the way of info or a concrete release date. That said, it looks like the rollout is finally underway. “All Red” is almost here.

It started out as a rumor. There was social media chatter that a music video for the anticipated Playboi Carti song was being shot. Naturally, there was a decent amount of skepticism. Hitta J3 tweeted that he was bringing Carti to a specific location for the “All Red” video shoot the weekend of September 6. It was a claim that wouldn’t have gotten much traction, were it not for the fact that Carti himself confirmed it. He reposted the Hitta J3 tweet on his Instagram Story with an excited caption. “5 Suuuuwoooo gang, and if u ain’t wit it den u in ah foodchain,” he wrote.

Playboi Carti Confirmed The Rumors On His IG Story

This is huge. Playboi Carti has been working on his upcoming album for years, but the last week or so has provided some encouraging signs. The rapper did a cover story with Billboard in which he talked about his nontraditional recording process. It was the sort of story that someone does when they have new music on the way, and it provided a glimmer of hope. Then there was the recent Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players Awards.

The rapper was given the first award of his career, somehow, on September 5. His acceptance speech was brief, but he did take time out to pay respect to the late Rich Homie Quan. Playboi Carti has yet to provide a release date or even a proper title for his new album, but the fact that he’s shooting a music video for a lead single has fans understandably excited. It truly feels as though the long wait is coming to a close. I Am Music, or whatever the album will be called, is getting closer to release every day. We can’t wait to see what the “All Red” music video looks like.

Big Sean Reveals Plans To Reunite With Jhene Aiko For New TWENTY88 Album

Big Sean is on a creative roll. The rapper has finally dropped his anticipated comeback album, Better Me Than You, and he has even more music on the way. He previously alluded to new music during an IG Live session, but he confirmed it during a recent interview with Complex. Not only is Sean working on another full length project, but he’s doing so with the mother of his child, Jhene Aiko. The two artists have a long history of working together, and they’ve may be considering a sequel to their 2016 joint album.

Big Sean has not slowed down one bit since the release of the aforementioned Better Me Than You. If anything, the rapper has hit the gas and decided to put even more work in. He told Complex that he has plans to reunite TWENTY88 for a new album in the near future. “I’ve been looking at [the album] as a living, breathing being because I decided to put it out this week,” he told the outlet. “I was going to keep holding onto it.”

Big Sean Has Been Working With Alchemist For Years

Big Sean’s recording process has been somewhat scattered. Still, he told the outlet that he wants to make sure they end up in the right place. For example, he pointed to a Nicki Minaj collab as a track that would fit better on a TWENTY88 album. “One of the Twenty88 songs,” the rapper noted. “I was like, ‘Oh, it kind of fits better on the album,’ but it wasn’t all the way done yet.” The album sales for Better Me Than You have not been spectacular. That said, we’re excited to see what Sean has in store regardless.

Big Sean also has plans for a joint album with The Alchemist. They worked together on a standout cut for Larry June’s The Great Escape, and Alc produced the song “Together Forever” on the new Sean album. Fans may have anticipated more Alchemist beats on Better Me Than You, but it seems Big Sean was saving them. “That’s part of a side quest I’m doing with Alchemist that me and him been locked in on,” the rapper revealed. “So, excited about that.” He then confirmed that a full length album between him and The Alchemist is in the works. “That’s a project that me and Alchemist are working on together,” he explained. “So that’s why that part is not on the album.”

Future And Travis Scott Teases New “Mixtape Pluto” Song “South Of France”

Future is locked in. The rapper has been teasing Mixtape Pluto for months, but the last few weeks have made it a reality. He put the album up for presale, unveiled the artwork, and dropped a snippet. It would be more than enough to generate interest for an album fans have wanted for what feels like forever. He didn’t stop there, though. Future decided to bless fans with another snippet on September 6. This time, the snippet came with a music video clip and a roster of A-list cameos. Oh, did we mention Travis Scott is on the song, too?

The new snippet is titled “South of France.” And true to its title, the music video appears to be set in the South of France. Future and Travis Scott can be seen recording the song, while cameos from artists who are rumored to be working on Mixtape Pluto get intercut. The snippet only lasts 45 seconds, but fans get to see Lil Baby, Southside and Wheezy pop up during the sessions. “South of France” sounds unfinished in its current. The mix is a little hollow, and the bass that drives so many Future bangers is a blown out. We can only assume the song will get cleaned up ahead of its official release.

Future Teased Some Of His Other Album Collaborators

Even in its rough form, though, “South of France” sounds promising. The beat knocks, Future sounds as reckless and cavalier as you’d want him to for an album called Mixtape Pluto. The snippet doesn’t include any vocals from Travis Scott. That said, the Houston rapper can be seen dancing to the beat and getting ready to record his vocals. He’s going to sound great over the beat that Future has provided him with. In tandem with “Lil Demon,” Future’s other snippet, Mixtape Pluto is going to be exactly what the fans have been hoping for.

Future isn’t the only one in album mode. Travis Scott recently confirmed that he was back in the studio during an interview with Cultured. “I’m back in album mode,” he revealed. “I’ve been working on music and sh*t every day on tour. When I’m doing the stadiums, because they’re sold out, I can see the music for what it is. I’m f**king amped.” Between Future’s impending release and whatever Travis Scott has in store, the rest of 2024 is looking pretty good for hip hop fans.
