Drake Sparks Speculation After Performing With A Live Band

Drake is a very impressive and beloved live performer, as his vocal prowess and versatility can make him float engagingly over any backing track one of his shows, sets, or tour stops throws at him. But we haven’t seen the 6ix God perform much in a live band setting, which pairs very well with his more soulful and lush production choices. Well, it seems like this match made in heaven might become a more frequent reality, as fans jumped to all sorts of conclusions after a clip emerged online of him performing “Pipe Down” with a live band. The Certified Lover Boy cut sounds all the more beautiful with live bass and summery guitar licks, and many fans on Twitter and in the replies of the post below hope that there’s more live instrumentation to come.

Of course, it’s not like this is Drake’s first time performing with a live band, but it’s certainly not the norm nor a common practice across his performance history. What fans really want to know is whether or not this indicates any sort of plans for the future when it comes to either new music or new concerts. For example, his recently teased collab album with PARTYNEXTDOOR might have more live elements to it, and a potential joint tour could have a backing band follow them through. This is all just speculative at the moment, but the assessment still stands: the Toronto superstar sounds great with some killer musicians alongside him.

Drake Performs With A Live Band

Speaking of Drake and performances, some fans also speculated recently that a former friend and close collaborator of Aubrey Graham’s is missing him onstage. Future and Metro Boomin recently kicked off their tour, and his performance of the Drizzy-assisted smash hit “WAIT FOR U” prompted a lot of theories. Some just commented on the performance itself, but others thought that Pluto was particularly emotional during the rendition. While select fans pointed to romantic issues as the reason, others thought that he might’ve been reflecting on how, at least right now, he doesn’t live in a world in which he can perform that song with Drake again because of the rap beef that exploded earlier this year.

Fans React

On that note, we’re sure you don’t need much of a refresher. But the pettiness still lives on in the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, with Mustard attacking The Boy and Gordo for allegedly trying to sabotage the release of his album. That’s all just combative speculation, though, and we doubt that the beef will truly reignite with a burning ire anytime soon. But if it does… a live band would sound pretty good on a diss track, no?

Ice Spice Admits She Gets Jealous Of How Easy Men Have It In A “Misogynistic World”

Ice Spice says we live in a “misogynistic world” and discussed how breaking into the entertainment industry has given her a new perspective on how difficult it is to make it as a woman. Speaking with Rolling Stone, she argued that women have to be “hot” in order to land the necessary opportunities. The conversation began with her discussing her performance of her hit track “Phat Butt,” at the BET Awards.

“I used to judge other artists’ awards show performances,” she confessed. “I’d be like, ‘Oh, that was awkward. Why the f**k would they do that? Why was she looking there?’” She added: “When you’re doing it yourself, you’re like, ‘OK, this is a lot.’ There are like 10 different cameras. There are cues, and everything is just so much, but it’s fun, though. At the end of the day, when it’s over, it’s fun.”

Ice Spice Performs At The BET Awards

From there, Spice discussed the differences between genders in the music industry. “We do live in a misogynistic world where it’s like you have to be breathtakingly hot to get certain opportunities,” she said. “I was born as a woman and raised as a woman, so I only know this lifestyle, but I could just imagine how easy it is for guys.” She added that she even gets jealous of the men on her team from time to time. “I am very jealous when the men on my team get to sleep an extra five f**king hours because they don’t have glam,” she remarked.

Mustard Believes Drake & Gordo Conspired To Ruin His Album Release

Mustard was a key figure in the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Overall, this was due to the fact that he was the producer of “Not Like Us” which has proven to be one of the biggest songs in the world this year. Moreover, the producer appeared in the song’s music video and was even at “The Pop Out.” All of these moves are antagonistic and we’re sure Drake didn’t take too kindly to all of them. Now, however, the famous DJ believes Drake might be out for revenge.

When it was revealed that Mustard was going to sell 18K units first week for Faith Of A Mustard Seed, Drake fans were quick to celebrate. Many felt like this was a flop for Mustard and that he should be ashamed. Subsequently, the producer went online and said that first-week sales were a tool of white supremacy. He also said that Drake is the Malcolm X of White People, which is a pretty hilarious diss when you think about it. In his most recent stream, DJ Akademiks revealed that the producer believes Drake and Gordo attempted to sabotage him.

Mustard With Some Allegations

Essentially, Mustard allegedly believes that Drake told Gordo to drop his album on the same day as him. Drake had two features on the Gordo album and in Mustard’s view, Drake knew this would take some shine away from his project. However, as Akademiks points out, Gordo sold less than FOAMS. Having said that, it is hard to see how the Gordo project may have affected his sales. Either way, it is clear that the Drake and Kendrick beef continues to go deeper and deeper.

Kanye West’s Official Version Of “LIFESTYLE” Sparks Debate On Whether Or Not The Demo Is Better

It appears that all Kanye West is doing with VULTURES 2 is making fans angry. To be honest, it’s completely fair criticism. After waiting on the sequel to the inaugural VULTURES 1 for months, the album still sounds extremely unfinished. It especially doesn’t help that a lot of the songs were known about for years thanks to the leak community and DONDA 2. Of course, there are a few ride-or-die supporters of Ye trying to defend the project. Ultimately, though, the amount of disappointment far outweighs the love being shown to this debatably even worse LP. Some predicted this would happen, but some were still holding out hope for Kanye West because of songs like “LIFESTYLE”.

Hip-hop Twitter (now X) is having quite the field day picking VULTURES 2 to pieces. “LIFESTYLE” is one of the handful of songs that Kanye West had hype around thanks to a demo that had been floating around the internet. However, when you listen to each version side-by-side, you can see why fans are confused and upset. Instead of having Ty Dolla $ign sing the chorus –who the better singing voice — Ye instead takes the reins, and it sounds like a non-artist singing in the shower. Additionally, the instrumental is mixed much better, which is another big gripe that people have with VULTURES 2.

“LIFESTYLE” Is Just One Of Many Gripes Fans Have With Kanye & VULTURES 2

However, those few Kanye stans we mentioned earlier are trying to contest that the latest version is better. One user says, “Bruh the new one better lol”. Another even sends some shade at Drake, saying, “Demo version is giving Drake energy. Official version is more Ye”. Someone else even calls out the leaking camp for ruining the official album release. “This is prob with leaks and the reason I don’t listen to them more than once, you guys have an idea what something is SUPPOSED TO SOUND like, ruining ur personal experience when the real thing shows up, now y’all mad smh”.

Drake & Lil Yachty Get Approval To Drop “Supersoak,” But There’s A Catch

Drake and Lil Yachty’s leaked and Kai Cenat-premiered collaboration ” S.O.D. (Supersoak)” might just see the light of day… under one condition. The social media creator behind the sample used for the track, Mr. Hotspot, recently spoke on the sample clearance issues that Yachty revealed during a Flagrant podcast appearance, which is what led the Atlanta rapper and pop-psych-rock creative to leak the song in the first place. During a TikTok livestream, Hotspot revealed that he would be down to clear the sample if the duo made a clean and kid-friendly version of the track, as his religious views are what apparently made him refrain from clearing the sample originally.

“It’ll be good for both of their brands,” Mr. Hotspot said of this ultimatum for Lil Yachty and Drake’s latest team-up track, “Supersoak.” “I’m blessed to work with children so we just gotta make it clean for them. We don’t need no children getting whooped cause they said this or that, you understand? It’s the children who really running these views up. So if we make sure both verses clean everybody coming clean, everybody gonna benefit.”

Mr. Hotspot Will Clear Drake & Lil Yachty’s Collab Under One Condition

“I sent a song to Kai to leak,” Lil Yachty had told Andrew Schulz and company on the Flagrant podcast concerning this Drake collab. “We couldn’t get the sample cleared, so I just let Kai play it.” “But it’s everywhere,” he added when speaking of how they might never be able to release it officially. Of course, this new condition opens that avenue up, but considering that Mr. Hotspot only recently sent them a clean version of the sample, it would most likely take a while to come out. “He went down, like, a Christian path,” Yachty said of Hotspot. “I don’t even think we got into money. He was just like, ‘No.’ It was crazy.”

Meanwhile, someone else with some issues with “Supersoak” is Soulja Boy, who thinks he caught some strays on the leaked version. “Drake, you up here talking about some S.O.D. super soak,” he ranted on social media. “Boy, stop playing wit me, boy. That better be a f***ing shout out, n***a. You better keep that s**t light, my boy. This your first and only warning.”

Cardi B Comes Through With Receipts To Shut Down Rumors That She Has Financial Troubles

The Sun recently published a report claiming that Cardi B is millions of dollars behind on mortgage payments and is otherwise in poor financial health. Well, Cardi wasn’t going to just sit there and let those claims go unchecked, so she hopped on X (formerly Twitter) and said her peace.

As HipHopDX notes, in a now-deleted tweet, Cardi wrote:

“First of all, The Sun is posting rumors that y’all are making up and sending blind items about… that’s why it’s NO DOCUMENTS, just word of mouth. Everybody gets a loan to buy a house and I never been behind on any of them.. i bought my house in 2021 and put almost 12 million in it now look how much I got left. I’m very responsible with money, my bills come before luxury and I just spent 400 thousand on jewelry this month because I also still know how to BUDGET… stop playin wit me.”

The tweet also included screenshots of a text conversation with somebody who seems to be Cardi’s manager or publicist, who writes about Cardi’s healthy financial status and their intent to get The Sun to take down their article. The article in question does appear to now be unavailable.

A New Kanye West Song Mentions Taylor Swift And Swifties Think She Responded On ‘The Eras Tour’

Believe it or not, Kanye West and Ty Dolla Sign actually released their long-awaited album Vultures 2. One track that’s generating some attention is “Lifestyle,” which sees Lil Wayne addressing Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

On his opening verse, Wayne raps, “I twist my Taylor spliffs tight at the end like Travis Kelce.”

It didn’t take long for Swift to deliver what some have interpreted as a response to the line. She performed in Warsaw, Poland hours after the song was released, and at one point, she wore a t-shirt that says “I Bet You Think About Me.”

As Page Six notes, it’s a shirt Swift has worn on stage before, but some fans believe her choosing to wear it at that show wasn’t a coincidence.

One fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “She’s so funny for wearing the I bet you think about me shirt after Ka*ye name dropped her and Travis in his song an actual comedian.” Another said, “[When I] saw the k*nye thing a little bit ago and I knew she was gonna wear it lmao.”

In late 2023, Swift addressed her infamous phone call with Ye, calling it a “fully manufactured frame job.” Months later, Ye wrote on social media, “I’m sure I’ve been far more helpful to Taylor Swift’s career than harmful.”

Tory Lanez Graduates From High School While In Prison And Sets His Sights On College

Tory Lanez has revealed that he graduated from high school while behind bars for the shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. He spoke with Adin Ross over the phone for an interview over the weekend to update fans on how he’s doing in prison.

“I’m great,” he said. “I know that a lot of people sometimes when they hear prison or they hear somebody’s down, they think n****’s in the corner somewhere bawling his eyes out.” Instead, Lanez says he’s “in a great space mentally,” and is “bettering myself in every single way.” He explained: “A n***a just graduated high school, enrolled in college. Never thought I’d do that. But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage over everything that’s good. I’m a f*cking high school dropout that just graduated high school. That sh*t matters to me. So, it’s the small things that just have me feeling good about life right now.”

I done cracked the f*cking code, man,” he said in a post on Instagram. “This means that not even these prison walls can stop me from dropping new music. It’s crazy!” In turn, he dropped his first project since the guilty verdict, Prison Tapes, last week. He also confirmed he’s going to be releasing music every week going forward.
