Irv Gotti’s supposed fight in the courtroom is just heating up. But, the mogul’s battle to conquer his health appears to be under control. On August 28, TMZ reported that the Murder Inc boss suffered a stroke at the top of the year.

After taking time to recovery, Irv Gotti is ready to get back to work. According to The Shade Room, his first post-stroke project includes a biopic about his late dear friend, DMX.

Since the “X Moves” rapper’s tragic death in 2021, DMX’s estate and collaborators including Swizz Beatz have kept his legacy alive with posthumous verses, albums, tribute performances, and more.

Not much is known (expected release date, casting information, format, etc.) about the forthcoming project. However, DMX’s meteoric rise to fame and subsequent struggles with all were well-documented. So, there are plenty of things (documentaries, autobiography, etc.) to pull from.

As for Irv Gotti’s health update, a representative for the executive shared a statement. “Irv is not in a rehab facility,” said the rep. “He is at home with his family, enjoying life. Irv has been struggling with diabetes for years, which caused him to have a minor stroke over six months ago. He has since changed his diet to eating more healthy. He’s been successful in making a full recovery.”

Meanwhile, Irv laughed it, saying, “I’m getting older. That’s all. Only thing worse than getting old is not getting old.”

Sydney Sweeney’s Boxing Movie: Everything To Know About The ‘Female Rocky’ Biopic With A Telltale Working Title (August 2024 Update)

Sydney Sweeney’s fast-moving career has been chaotic for the past few years, but lately, she has purposefully been taking a breather another busy stretch. That time off has included posting a “thirst trap” and, presumably, hitting the gym hard (to get jacked, obviously) for upcoming filming on her boxing movie. This film will be a biopic of prizefighter Christy Martin, the pop-culturally dubbed “Female Rocky” boxer who ruled the 1990s welterweight circuit, and a clue indicates that the movie will arrive before Euphoria‘s third season, which will be filming at a later date. Sorry, Syd’s upcoming projects do not include that rumored Glen Powell re-teaming for The Running Man remake.

Sweeney also insists that her Barbarella reboot will surface, but before that happens, she will be getting into the ring in fighting shape, so let’s get down with what we can expect.

Plot

Christy Martin’s story will not be a straightforward trajectory to victory. A casting notice reveals the film’s working title, Apopka, which suggests that her personal life will be a significant part of the story. Indeed, Apopka is the Florida city where Martin was shot in 2010 by her then-husband and manager, Jim Martin, who shot and maimed his wife after she informed him that their marriage was over. Despite being a champ in the ring and Don King’s first female signee, Christy endured years of emotional and physical abuse by Jim, who was convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to 25 years.

Filming will reportedly take place in late September through mid November, and the film will be directed by David Michôd (Animal Kingdom, War Machine, Hesher), who cast Sweeney after seeing her true-crime turn in HBO’s Reality. For her part, Sweeney has years of experience in kickboxing and is “itching” to “transform my body.” She also called this role “physically and emotionally demanding, there’s a lot of weight to carry. But I love challenging myself.”

Martin has spoken about her domestic abuse ordeal, and both CBS News and The Guardian have reported at length about her physical injuries, as has ESPN, which has (you were warned) an incredibly graphic description along with an account by Christy’s mother about her arrival at the hospital:

Joyce says that when she was at last able to lay eyes on her daughter, it took her breath away. “She had tubes running everywhere, stitches all over her head, on her face. It’s something you never forget.”

Joyce was relieved when she learned Martin was able to speak. The first thing her daughter said to her? “I told you he was crazy, Mom.”

Earlier in their marriage, Jim had punched Martin in the mouth so hard her tooth pierced through her lip. The day it happened, Martin went to the bathroom to clean herself up. As she blotted her face, a few spots of blood dripped onto an obscured section of the wall. Martin decided to leave them there. For years, she’d carefully clean around the bloodstains, taking care not to erase them. Proof of life.

For the upcoming Black Bear and Anonymous Content film, Mirrah Foulkes and Michôd co-wrote the script, and Michôd summarized his approach to the film:

“The film is about Christy as a young gay woman in small-town West Virginia in the 1990s. She came from a relatively conservative family and wasn’t allowed to be who she was so she used boxing as a vehicle to express herself and her rage. She had to make some dangerous and fundamental compromises in her life, the most important of which was marrying an incredibly dangerous man.”

Cast

Sweeney as Martin is the only role that has been publicly confirmed. The actor who will portray Jim Martin hasn’t been disclosed, and ideally, we’ll also see a Don King portrayal.

Release Date

With filming scheduled to be complete before the end of 2024, we can bet on a 2025 arrival, likely with festival premieres leading up to the main event. Should we guess fall-winter 2025? Sure.

Trailer

Since filming is around the corner, we will make do with two interviews, including Sweeney telling Women’s Health that it’s important to stay fit because it’s “really fun to be able to kick a guy’s ass.”

The second interview includes Sweeney’s statements on overcoming her past body dysmorphia, and (whether or not she realizes it), there’s some serious role-model-ing going on here.

GloRilla Flaunts Her Singing Abilities In New Muni Long Track

Muni Long just dropped her new album Revenge, which arrived today boasting a lone feature from GloRilla. The Memphis-born performer is known for her rapping skills, though on “Leave My Baby Tonight,” she broadens her horizons. GloRilla shows off her singing abilities on the lively track, and her fans are here for it.

GloRilla’s longtime supporters know that she started off singing in her church’s choir, but later switched to rapping after losing her voice. Nowadays, it’s not often that she goes back to her roots as a vocalist, but most fans appreciate it when she does. “Glo can do NO wrong!” one Instagram user writes in The Neighborhood Talk‘s comments section. “Love to see it,” another says.

GloRilla Shows Off Her Versatility On “Leave My Baby Tonight”

Unfortunately, not everyone is sold. Some commenters are urging Glo to stick to rapping, insisting that it’s simply what she does best. “No shade! But not every rap girl can pull off what Nicki & Doja can,” one argues. “Versatility isn’t for everyone,” someone else claims. This is far from the only debate GloRilla’s found herself at the center of lately, however. Recently, she promoted her single with Rob49 and Skilla Baby with a risqué dancing video, which prompted some backlash from followers.

Some even speculated that her label was encouraging her to sexualize herself, though she quickly shut these rumors down. “Don’t worry about what me and my titties doing. B*tch, I bought them,” she explained on Instagram Live. “Y’all just be swearing muthaf*ckas make muthaf*ckas do sh*t. Like everything I do I be wanting to do it. Y’all just got to learn to mind your business sometimes.” What do you think of GloRilla’s new track with Muni Long? Do you think she should sing more, or stick to rapping? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Killer Mike Enlists El-P & Rock D The Legend For “Black Ops 6” Track “Detonator”

Whether you like it or not, Killer Mike has been having one of his most successful years in his storied career. Since the release of MICHAEL and its deluxe last summer, he’s been on one heck of a tear. The solo sophomore album went onto take multiple categories at this year’s GRAMMY Awards, upsetting one fan base in particular along the way. Those incredible achievements didn’t make him complacent, though. He went on to drop Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival, Songs For Sinners And Saints on August 2, a continuation of that rap/gospel mixture. Now, Killer Mike is working with video game giant Activision for a new single called “Detonator”. The record is essentially the theme song for the upcoming Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 which drops on October 25.

Hip-hop and this iconic video game series have been linked together for quite a while. Eminem did a similar thing for Call Of Duty: Ghosts with “Survival” back in 2013. Now, its Killer Mike’s turn and he’s recruiting some close friends to help him. Rapper Rock D The Legend and MC/producer El-P are here to bring this thing to life, and it’s always a blast to see the Run The Jewels reconnect. It’s been quite a bit since we’ve gotten a new project from the duo. If you remember, 2020 was the year when they put out the fourth RTJ tape. El-P did contribute to MICHAEL, but hearing Mike over his good buddy’s production is always a treat. “Detonator” comes with a music video, which you can view below, and the song is also out now on DSPs.

Fivio Foreign Explains His Controversial Rick Ross Mention On New Song “Blacc Out”

Fivio Foreign and Rick Ross have a tight rap relationship, which is why so many folks expressed confusion at the former’s new song, “Blacc Out.” Moreover, the track contains the following bar: “When I go overseas, I’m a big dog / N***as never gon’ treat me like Rick Ross.” A lot of fans thought that this was actually a shot at the Maybach Music Group mogul, but the New York drill artist quickly took to Twitter on Thursday (August 29) to clear the air. “And that was deff not a shot at Ricc Ross. Smh Yall take everything outta context,” he expressed.

Furthermore, the specific bar refers to an incident that Rick Ross faced in Vancouver, where a group of Drake fans fought him and his crew for playing “Not Like Us.” This was a big enough moment that no one really doubted what Fivio Foreign was referring to, even if the intent behind it came under fire. After all, why would you make light of how folks treated one of your colleagues, especially in a way that makes a distinction between how he reacted and how you would? Even if this wasn’t meant as a diss, it doesn’t paint Rozay in the best light, either.

Fivio Foreign Denies Dissing Rick Ross

Speaking of Rick Ross’ rap beef, he recently explained why he launched a diss track this year against Drake, but not against The Game. “”On some rap s**t, it was no conspiracies,” he told Shannon Sharpe during his Nightcap Summer Sessions in Houston. “Rozay name was said, Rozay, I’ma jump off the porch. That’s what I do… I’ma jump off the porch and I’ma have some fun, and that’s what I did, I had some fun.” “Not responding is a response when you a boss,” The Biggest Boss said of the Los Angeles MC.

Meanwhile, Fivio Foreign faces much more harsh criticism for other matters. One of these is his vocal support of Donald Trump, which rubs many fans the wrong way. Another concerns a video on Fivio’s social media page that shows a drug user shooting up. Many found this insensitive, so they might have stuck to their preconceived notions and made up a Rick Ross diss in their heads.
