Russell Simmons Shuts Down Theories That He’s Hiding In Bali Amid Sexual Assault & Forgery Allegations

Russell Simmons has been going through his fair share of legal woes as of late, but according to him, that has nothing to do with his decision to reside in Bali. Currently, the Def Jam co-founder is being sued for alleged assault by a former employee. The anonymous woman, going by Jane Doe, additionally accuses him of forging her signature on a document.

Earlier this week, AllHipHop reported that Simmons had no plans to leave Bali amid his legal battle, as he’s lived there since 2018. “I am not physically present in New York and I do not have an intention to live in New York in the future,” he told the outlet, “I own no property in the United States. I have been living in Bali since 2018, which is where I intend to remain. For at least nine years before I moved to Bali, I lived in California. As a California resident, I paid California resident taxes in the years immediately prior to moving to Bali. Currently, I pay California non-resident state taxes.”

Russell Simmons Can Return To The U.S.

Unfortunately, it looks like his comments backfired, leading some to believe that he was hiding out in Bali because he was afraid to come back to the U.S. According to him, however, that couldn’t be further from the truth. He clarified with AllHipHop again recently, stating that his decision not to come home doesn’t mean he can’t.

“People saying that I somehow can’t come home when I’m there all the time wears on you,” he explained. “It wears on me after a while to keep hearing the same narrative, which is false. I’m always in L.A., I’m always in New York and Miami. And I’ve never had any reason to feel unsafe in America.” What do you think of Russell Simmons claiming that he’s free to roam the U.S. amid his legal battle? Tyga Looks Unbothered In Cannes After Travis Scott Brawl

This morning, Travis Scott and Tyga went viral due to footage that surfaced online of a huge brawl and reports that the two of them went at it in Cannes. At the time, it was unclear exactly who was involved in the fight, why it started, and how. Luckily, more info about the incident was later uncovered, revealing that it all started when Richie Akiva tried to give them both a shoutout at his party.

“We got T-Raww, AE and Travis in the building,” he said, according to reports. Things went south from there, with Travis smashing the mic and storming out of the DJ booth. Alexander “AE” Edwards, a close friend of Tyga’s, then tried to calm Travis down. His attempt was unsuccessful, however, and Travis left and came back with Southside. This is when things really popped off, as Southside and AE began to fight, with Travis also getting involved and scrapping with AE. Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured, though it’s still uncertain why Travis got so upset.

Tyga Is Unscathed And On A Boat

Reportedly, Tyga stayed behind the DJ booth throughout the scuffle, and he and AE stuck around at the event until the wee hours of the morning. As for Travis and Southside, they’re said to have returned to their cars shortly after the incident. Now, Tyga has provided fans with an update on his current whereabouts on his Instagram Story, making it clear that he’s doing just fine.

In a new clip, he’s seen cruising around on a boat in Cannes, looking unfazed by the viral debacle. Fans are glad that he isn’t hurt, though they’re still demanding additional details of the brawl. Travis Scott And Tyga’s Crews Were Reportedly Involved In A Brawl At A Cannes Event

A party during the Cannes Film Festival was reportedly interrupted by a brawl involving rappers Travis Scott and Tyga as their crews exchanged blows during the event. The melee was confirmed by TMZ after grainy, dark video of the fight emerged online (those darn iPhones, am I right?) alleging that Travis and Tyga were directly involved speculated that they were scrapping over their mutual ex, Kylie Jenner.

According to TMZ, Alexander Edwards — a music executive at Universal who also moonlights as a rapper under the name “AE” and has been dating Cher (yes, that Cher) since 2022 — shouted out the rappers on the DJ’s mic. Travis reportedly snatched the mic from AE and exchanged some heated words with him. After initially leaving the stage, Travis returned with producer Southside, and AE and Southside exchanged blows. At this point, AE and Tyga’s assistants also jumped in, trading blows with Travis. Security eventually broke things up, and Travis and Southside both departed, with AE and Tyga remaining behind and staying until the wee hours of the morning.

One fight Travis Scott won’t have to worry about for the immediate future is the legal one stemming from the wrongful death lawsuits filed against him in the wake of the 2021 Astroworld Festival tragedy. All ten cases have been settled, leaving him with just two hundred or so injury suits set to be argued as one case starting in October.

Nicki Minaj Announces A Second North American Leg Of The “Pink Friday 2” Tour

Once of the biggest tours of 2024 so far has been Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 world tour. It kicked off back in November with a North American run. The shows made nightly news for the various guests she had on stage with her. Rather than opting for a roster of opening acts she instead chose to have different star guests on in nearly every single city. Now the tour has taken off on a European leg which is racking up sold out shows of its own. She’s sold out more than 30 consecutive arena shows. She’s also continually added more shows in more cities to her impressive run.

Now she’s made one of the most significant additions yet. Earlier today Nicki announced that there will be an entire second North American leg of the tour starting later this year when she returns from overseas. It’s a pretty exciting prospect for Nicki fans that weren’t able to catch her the first time around. How many extra shows she will perform as well as the dates and locations of the shows haven’t been announced yet. Fans can sign up for pre-sale right now and Minaj promises that the tickets themselves will go on sale at some point in the next few days. Check out the announcement she shared below.

Nicki Minaj Extends Her “Pink Friday 2” Tour

The European leg of the “Pink Friday 2” tour kicked off earlier this week. It got started in Amsterdam with yet another sold out show. Minaj will return to the Netherlands next month after a stint in the UK before bouncing all the way across Europe. That leg of the tour will conclude in Belgium in mid-July. Earlier this month Nicki took a break from touring to appear at this year’s MET Gala. She wore a dress that leaned into the events garden theme.

What do you think of Nicki Minaj extended her already massive “Pink Friday 2” tour with even more North American dates? Do you plan on seeing her again or for the first time at any of the newly announced dates? Let us know in the comment section below.

Jake Paul Says He Is Not Going To Hold Back Against Mike Tyson: “The Legend Must Fall”

Even though Mike Tyson is thirty years Jake Paul’s senior, he will not back down from a challenge if it arises on July 20. He told TMZ Sports that he would not be taking the boxing icon lightly in their next match. Folks are divided on who will prevail in the Paul vs. Tyson fight. While Paul is far less experienced than Tyson, he is still at his peak age. Tyson is undoubtedly one of the greatest to have ever competed, but he is decades removed from his supremacy. Paul was asked whether there was any aspect of him that would be reluctant because his opponent is almost considered a senior citizen. He replied, “Absolutely not.” Paul explained that if Tyson gets an opportunity to knock him out, he’ll do the exact same.

He said Mike would do the same “in embarrassing fashion.” Paul went on to say, “So, I have to reciprocate that same energy.” He continued, “But Mike Tyson is a killer. He’s ruthless. He’s the most vicious champion ever. So, I have to channel that Mike Tyson energy to finish him. And the legend must fall.” Paul stated that he believes Netflix may draw hundreds of millions of people and that AT&T Stadium would be packed due to the fight’s hype.

Jake Paul Will Not Hesitate To Knock Out Mike Tyson

Despite the age gap between them, Jake Paul said that he will “absolutely” not hesitate to take a straight shot at Tyson since Iron Mike will do the same. One of the key draws for this fight is the intrigue of seeing Tyson in a boxing ring once more. Three weeks before to the bout, on June 30, he will turn 58 years old. On November 28, 2020, Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. squared off in an exhibition match that resulted in a split draw. Tyson’s fight against Paul will be his first professional encounter since he was defeated by Kevin McBride in June 2005.

In February 2003, Tyson defeated Clifford Etienne in the opening frame of a professional or exhibition bout, marking his last victory in that regard. Paul, a 27-year-old, is 9-1 in his ten professional fights. Most of his battles have been against opponents from other sports or against competitors who were long past their peak. Overall, Mike Tyson Vs. Jake Paul will hopefully be an entertaining bout. Let’s hope no one gets seriously damaged.

Baybe Tone, Luh CEO, Jawnino, & Eddy P: Four Artists You Need To Listen To Right Now

Every single month, the staff at HotNewHipHop gets together to discuss artists that we have yet to cover on the website. Overall, it is an effort to get us all engaged with various different subgenres or movements within the culture. Furthermore, it helps us expand our horizons beyond just the mainstream artists that always dominate the conversation. It’s a fun exercise, especially since we get to share some of our favorite finds with you, the audience. So without further ado, here are four artists and songs we believe you should listen to right now.

Baybe Tone – “Racks”

Baybe Tone is a young artist from Florida who has been making waves in the scene. Overall, he is known for some hard-hitting production and menacing flows that will immediately capture your attention. With his song “Racks,” you are going to want to run through a brick wall. This is one of those tracks that is just oozing with energy. It makes for a fun listen, and it will be hard not to do some headbanging while giving this a spin.

Luh CEO – “Who Is You”

Luh CEO is a Mississippi artist who is just 18 years old. Interestingly enough, he is signed to 1501 Certified Entertainment which shows you he is already making some massive connections. In his track “Who is You,” Luh CEO gives us smooth yet energetic flows that are perfect for the southern trap production. For an 18-year-old, his songwriting chops are truly impressive. With a bit of artist development, we can only imagine where he will be in five years from now.

Jawnino – “Lose My Brain”

Jawnino is a UK artist known for embracing the grime and jungle sound. Although Grime is mostly known for its energetic flows, Jawnino brings a more laid back approach to the subgenre. The song “Lose My Brain” is a perfect example of this. Throughout the track, he delivers some buttery smooth flows over uptempo production that will immediately situate you into a UK club. It’s a great take on UK Grime, and we cannot wait to hear more from the artist. His most recent project 40 has some bangers, so be sure to check that out.

Eddy P – “It Ain’t Glitter”

Eddy P is an artist who sits at about 1,700 monthly listeners on Spotify. However, don’t let that number fool you. He certainly deserves a whole lot more. The song we’ve been gravitating towards is “It Ain’t Glitter.” The song has some gorgeous vocal samples and pianos that will have you daydreaming. As for the rapping itself, Eddy P’s flows are focused and crisp in a way that will maintain your attention. He does the heavy-lifting, which is saying a lot given the incredible production. Once again, an artist with lots of talent who deserves the recognition.

Let us know which of these artists was your favorite, in the comments section down below.
