Latto Performs With TLC, Social Media Shares Mixed Reactions

Beyonce was the starlet many were most excited to see at the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards as she took home the Innovator Prize from fellow icon Stevie Wonder. Still, the show had countless other pop culture crossovers, including a performance from TLC who surprised some viewers with the femcee they recruited to stand in for the late Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes. In the past, Lil Mama has been a top contender for the part after playing the fallen member in the 2013 biopic, Crazy Sexy Cool, about their come-up. However, this year, it was Latto who joined Chilli and T-Boz for renditions of the girl group’s biggest hits, “Waterfalls” and “No Scrubs.”

Big winners at the awards ceremony on Monday (April 1) include Taylor Swift (Best Artist), Morgan Wallen (Country Artist), SZA (R&B Artist, Album, and Song), Joshua Halling (Tour Photographer), Selena Gomez and Rema (Best Collaboration), and Latto took home Best Music Video for her work with Jungkook on “Seven.” As for performances, Justin Timberlake, Tate McRae, Green Day, and the evening’s host, Ludacris, were all on the roster. As per usual, viewers are sharing all of their thoughts on social media, and we’re seeing a lot of mixed reactions to the 777 hitmaker’s appearance.

in an excerpt from the interview, the So So Def founder talk about Luke inventing the idea of a “Black strip club”, saying, “The story goes so deep that in Atlanta, all I know is strip clubs, right? And I don’t know Atlanta to not be a place where we don’t have a strip club.” Dupri continued, “[Uncle Luke] was going to strip clubs before Black people. He actually invented Black people going to the strip club, and I don’t think in hip hop we ever talked about this, ever. He invented Black people going to the strip club in Miami. Clark and Iowa Wins Rematch Against Reese and LSU, Bueckers Bests JuJu in Elite 8

Caitlin Clark got her get back. In the Elite 8, Clark and her Iowa Hawkeyes basketball team got the rematch of last year’s national championship matchup with Angel Reese and the LSU Tigers.

This time, the Hawkeyes were on the winning end, advancing to the Final Four 94-87. Clark had a dazzling performance of 41 points, 12 assists, and seven rebounds, including long bombs from three-point range to create distance in the third quarter.

On the other hand, Angel Reese scored 17 points and 20 rebounds, which could be her last performance in an LSU jersey.

In the other Elite 8 matchup of the night, Paige Buckers and UCONN were too much for JuJu Watkins and the resurgent USC basketball program.

Bueckers reminded the NCAA basketball world who she is after missing the 2023 tournament. She scored 28 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists on her way to an 80- 73-point victory.

Bueckers, named the national player of the year in 2021 and recognized as the standout player in this regional, has now achieved the highest number of 25-point, 10-rebound, 5-assist games in a single NCAA tournament over the past 25 years, totaling three. This surpasses the previous record held by Candice Wiggins from 2008.

Watkins dropped 29 points and ten rebounds in the game, cutting her season short of the Final Four.

We will now have a clash of Paige Bueckers and Caitlin Clark on Friday.

Devin Booker Drops 50 for Third Straight Time Against Pelicans

Devin Booker poured in 52 points in a dominant performance, with 37 coming in the first half, guiding the Phoenix Suns to a 124-111 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. Booker’s career-high eight 3-pointers and nine assists fueled the Suns’ commanding lead, supported by Kevin Durant’s 20 points and Jusuf Nurkic’s impressive 19-point, 19-rebound performance.

This marks Booker’s third consecutive game, scoring 50+ points against the Pelicans, joining Wilt Chamberlain as the only player to achieve such a feat against the same opponent. The Pelicans, led by Zion Williamson’s 30 points, struggled to contain Booker’s offensive onslaught.

Despite the loss, the Pelicans maintain their sixth position in the Western Conference, while the Suns climb to seventh, just one game behind New Orleans. Additionally, the Phoenix Suns secured the head-to-head tiebreaker with Monday’s win, positioning themselves favorably in the playoff race.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves secured a playoff berth with the Pelicans’ defeat, further intensifying the competition in the Western Conference playoff and play-in races.

Drake Seemingly Agrees With DJ Akademiks That Metro Boomin, Kendrick Lamar, And Future Used His Name For Clout

Drake is currently at war with what feels like the entire rap world. Overall, it started when Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake on the song “Like That.” This track appears on the new Future and Metro Boomin album, We Don’t Trust You. Throughout that album, there are also some disses from Future himself. Not to mention, Rick Ross is on the project and he quickly unfollowed Drizzy once the album was released. At this point, the man has very few friends left in the industry. Thankfully, there truly is a Drake song for every situation (see Certified Lover Boy).

Recently, it was revealed that We Don’t Trust You topped the charts. Furthermore, Metro Boomin and Future had numerous songs appear in the Billboard Top 10. This subsequently led to a subtle shot from DJ Akademiks. On his Instagram page, Akademiks made the claim that the artists used Drake’s name for clout, and that he deserves an assist for the streaming numbers. “Congrats to Metro Future Kendrick and the reason for the song Drake. On a #1 song. Here’s the billboard top 10 this week,” Akademiks wrote.

Drake With A Slick Like

In a showing of solidarity for the take, Drake ended up liking Ak’s post. Clearly, he enjoyed the caption and felt there was some sort of truth in it. Of course, the fact that he was dissed on the song certainly helped its position on the charts. However, it is a damn good song and even if Kendrick had delivered a normal verse, it probably would have been a success. After all, Metro and Future know how to crank out the hits. Either way, a like might not seem like a lot, but it shows where Drizzy stands in all of this.

Let us know what you think of the feud between Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Metro Boomin, and Future, in the comments section down below. Who do you think is going to end up coming out on top here? Are you expecting Drake to drop a track? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will continue to keep you informed on all of your favorite artists and their upcoming projects.

Pusha T Labels Pharrell & Chad Hugo’s Neptunes Dispute “Stupidity”

Pusha T has spoken out on the legal dispute between Neptunes members Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo. Taking to his Instagram Story on Monday, he claimed that Hugo’s lawyer is just looking for a paycheck and labeled the situation “stupidity.” Hugo’s lawyer previously complained about Pharrell “fraudulently” filing to trademark the Neptunes’ name.

“There’s not a dollar involved in this stupidity. Just a lawyer looking to drain Chad’s pockets. Unreal,” he wrote. When a fan brought up Ralph Tresvant buying the trademark to New Edition, Pusha responded: “Smh… nothing more, nothing less.”

Hugo’s attorney, Kenneth D. Freundlich, wrote in a legal filing: “Throughout their over thirty year history, [Hugo] and Williams agreed to, and in fact, have divided all assets. By ignoring and excluding [Hugo] from the any and all applications filed by applicant for the mark ‘The Neptunes,’ applicant has committed fraud in securing the trademarks and acted in bad faith.” Check out Pusha’s response to the drama below.

A representative for Pharrell also responded to the situation in a statement to Billboard on Monday. They argued he only filed a trademark for the name to protect them from third parties. “Pharrell is surprised by this,” they wrote. “We have reached out on multiple occasions to share in the ownership and administration of the trademark and will continue to make that offer. The goal here was to make sure a third party doesn’t get a hold of the trademark and to guarantee Chad and Pharrell share in ownership and administration.” Be on the lookout for further updates on Pusha T as well as Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo on HotNewHipHop.
