Four Charged In Oklahoma State Longhorn Stunt
Four people have been charged with misdemeanor unlawful disposal of a carcass after a mutilated longhorn cow was found outside a fraternity house on the campus of Oklahoma State University last month. Bennet Fady, 20, Luke Ackerley, 19, Andrew King, 19, and Brody Shelby, 19. The four men are believed to be members of the Alpha Rho Gamma fraternity, whose house was searched soon after the incident. It is believed, according to fraternity sources that FarmHouse and Alpha Rho Gamma are engaged in a “prank war”. The four men will arraigned in Payne County next week.
Oklahoma State University is based in Stillwater. Its FarmHouse chapter was established in 1928. Meanwhile, the Alpha Rho Gamma chapter was founded in 1921. Animal cruelty, a felony in Oklahoma, is described as if a person were to “willfully or maliciously torture, destroy or kill, or cruelly beat or injure, maim or mutilate any animal in subjugation or captivity, whether wild or tame, and whether belonging to the person or to another, or deprive any such animal of necessary food, drink, shelter, or veterinary care to prevent suffering.”

Police were alerted to the house of FarmHouse Fraternity around 6:30am on December 1. “F-ck FH” had been carved into the animal’s side and its stomach had been cut open, per the campus newspaper. “It’s a very cruel crime to be committed, especially right before the Big 12 Championship. Nothing is worth doing that kind of crap,” a campus police officer told The Oklahoman. “[We are] appalled at the disturbing display of animal cruelty at an off-campus location near a fraternity house. Appropriate action will be taken based on the outcome of the investigation,” the university said in a statement.
Furthermore, the stunt took place the morning of the Big 12 Championship Game between OSU and Texas. Texas’ athletic nickname is the Longhorns. However, Texas would easily win the game, earning a spot in the College Football Playoffs, where they would lose a shootout to Washington in the National Semifinals. The Longhorns are expected to be title contenders next season, especially after star QB Quinn Ewers declared his intention to return for this final season.

During the interview, Cudi tells a story about Lupe Fiasco, who he’s publicly had a beef with for years now. The new story was about a time that Lupe came into the Bape story Cudi was working at before he was famous. “I was in the back and they were like, ‘Yo, Lupe’s here.’ I was like, ‘Oh, sh*t.’ Stayed down the stairs, waited until he left. They were like, ‘What you down here for?’” Cudi detailed. “”I explained it to my dude the same way I explained it to you. I was like, ‘Yo, bro, if I get famous one day, I don’t ever want this n*gga saying like, ‘He sold me clothes. You my son.’”
Clearly, Lupe Fiasco caught wind of his comments pretty quickly and they didn’t sit right with him. Lupe didn’t hold anything back in his first tweet responding to the situation. “Kid Cudi is a b*tch. And continues to be a b*tch. It’s believing the cops don’t care about you. It’s learning how not to doubt yourself because when you’re born everyone else already does.”
—Poet Prentice Powell,There is a long way to go in addressing the mental health issues that perpetually plague Black men. While Black Americans experience similar rates of mental illness as other Americans in general, there are contextual differences, especially when it pertains to Black men. And, Black men are not receiving the help they need for these problems. For example, only 26.4% of Black and Hispanic men ages 18 to 44 who experienced daily feelings of anxiety or depression were likely to have used mental health services, compared with 45.4% of non-Hispanic White men with the same feelings. The Black Men’s Mental Health Conference was Sold Out in Houston as part of a national tour presented by justUs, MH Foundation.
A recent tour stop in Houston included The Council on Recovery, The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, Houston Texas, Health and Human Services, The Alice Collective, The African American Male Wellness, Rverzealous Mindset LLC, and The State of Texas Aids Awareness Commission. The Office of CommissionerRodney Ellis honored and presented Camillia Harris, justUs, MH Foundation, and the Black Men’s Mental Health Conference with a resolution. Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard presented Camillia Harris, justUs, MH Foundation, and the Black Men’s Mental Health Conference with a certificate of recognition due to her hard work in the mental health space. The Keynote Speaker of the event provided dynamic poetry with life stories of how he overcame depression, anger, and the struggles faced by Black and Latino men.
As a survivor, Camillia Harris could no longer stand by and not help the voiceless or those in need and took action. The Black Men’s Mental Health Conference is a multi-city tour bringing awareness and education to mental health care for black men. On this tour, they will share stories, provide access to resources, and equip communities with the necessary tools to create systems of support to ensure that Black men have the best access to mental healthcare. The tour featured events aimed at better understanding the social determinants of mental health and the specific psychological issues facing Black men through panel discussions, mental health experts, resources, and more. This tour empowers and inspires attendees to prioritize their mental well-being and take steps to heal and improve their overall mental health.
