What We Know About “Reptile” Starring Justin Timberlake & Benicio Del Toro

From the trailer of the upcoming movie Reptile, viewers are in for a thrilling watch. Over time, Netflix has continued to create original offerings. This is the case for Reptile, which is already garnering major buzz. The gritty crime thriller has cast some renowned names in its lineup. The phenomenal Benicio Del Toro will front the movie, while none other than Justin Timberlake will be in a supporting role. The story was written by Benjamin Brewer, Grant Singer, and Del Toro.

A recipient of multiple awards, Del Toro is best known for his roles in The Usual Suspects, Basquiat, Sin City, and more. Although widely known for his music, the Grammy-winning musician Timberlake is also a formidable actor in his own right. The Reptile trailer highlights a chilling storyline of a hardened detective who attempts to uncover the truth of a gruesome murder. The movie is set to premiere this September.

Background

Soon after Netflix acquired the rights to the story from Black Label Media, production on the feature-length began. Grant Taylor Singer, predominantly known as a music video director, is set to make his directorial debut in the film. Singer has previously worked with household-name musicians, including Ariana Grande, Lorde, The Weeknd, and Travis Scott. Among the star-studded cast, as seen in the Reptile trailer, Alicia Silverstone is also set to appear. She and Del Toro previously starred in the 1997 crime romance film Excess Baggage. That film also features other acclaimed actors like Michael Pitt, Sky Ferreira, Ayo Essandoh, and Dominick Lombardozzi, among others.

The Reptile Trailer

According to the Reptile trailer, the crime-thriller’s storyline focuses on a detective set on a trail after an unknown killer. The murder of an estate agent is the driving force of the movie. Also, her murder suspect list is somewhat lengthy, but four people take top priority. Netflix released the trailer on the 21st of August.

Elsewhere, Del Toro expressed that he was drawn to the movie’s unpredictability. In a conversation with Netflix, he shared: “There were a couple of what I like to call ‘Oh, sh*t’ moments that also compelled me to get involved.” This also explains Del Toro’s involvement as one of the movie’s writers. Timberlake, also speaking with Netflix, added, “I liked the idea of playing a character that has to constantly react to the unpredictability of what’s thrown in his direction.”

Release Date

The grim detective movie is set to premiere at the 48th annual Toronto International Film Festival on the 8th of September. Subsequently, the crime thriller would be available for streaming exclusively on Netflix from the 6th of October. Judging by the Reptile trailer, the movie is set on pulling and nudging its viewers psychologically with its highly anticipated plot twists. With Del Toro as a co-writer, one can imagine a film possibly worthy of accolades and acclaim. Above all, the all-round collaboration and star-studded cast looks to be one that will make lasting impressions this fall.

I hope everyone really likes it.” She later previewed the music at a party in Los Angeles, and since then, has been full steam ahead on the album’s promotion, cryptically tweeting lyrics.

Karrueche Tran Says Fans Mistook Her For Either Jhene Aiko Or Coi Leray

Even if someone thinks you’re just as attractive as the people they’re confusing you for, it can still sting. Moreover, that’s what recently happened to actress Karrueche Tran, who recently revealed on social media that a fan asked her for a picture while remarking that they love her music. The half-Vietnamese, half-Black entertainer suspects that they could’ve either been referring to Coi Leray or Jhene Aiko given her recent hairstyle change. Apparently she just walked away from the fan while laughing, which is pretty cold-blooded but perhaps exactly what they deserved in her eyes if they didn’t have their receipts on deck. It’s a small but curious peek into a celebrity’s life that we don’t always get to peep, but always results in entertaining antics.

“Someone asked me for a picture today,” Karrueche Tran wrote on a picture of herself on her Instagram Story recently. “And then said ‘Thank you so much, I love your music!’” “I didn’t ask who they thought I was,” Chris Brown’s 35-year-old ex elaborated on Twitter. “I just laughed and kept walking. But I think it’s either Coi LeRay or Jhene Aiko (I got Jhene a couple weeks ago in the airport, which ok we’re both blasian and petite but now my hair is short?) lol.”

Regardless of who the fan meant to approach excitedly, it’s not hard to see why people would mix up the three. Also, there are plenty of reasons to have Coi Leray and Jhene Aiko on your news feed these days, so maybe it’s just the recency bias talking. For example, the former recently released her new EP, Blue Moon, just this week, and it already stirred up some commotion. After all, you don’t seemingly diss Trippie Redd and Latto and not cause some heads to turn.

Meanwhile, the R&B singer recently released her new single “calm & patient” to much acclaim, hinting at bigger things to come this year. It’s not like Tran disappeared throughout the year, but her doppelgängers built even more of a profile. So now you know: if you think you saw any of them at an airport, take a closer look and think before you fan out. For more news and the latest updates on Karrueche Tran, Coi Leray, and Jhene Aiko, check back in with HNHH.

Sha’Carri Richardson Adds Another 100M Title To 2023 Haul

A week after being crowned world champion, Sha’Carri Richardson has continued her winning ways. The 23-year-old dominated the 100m event at the Diamond League meet in Zurich. While she wasn’t as dominant as she was in Budapest, she still recorded a winning time of 10.88. Jamaica earned a silver-bronze tandem behind Richardson thanks to Natasha Morrison and Elaine Thompson-Herah. While Thompson-Herah did not participate in the event at the World Championships, Zurich was a bounce back for Morrison. The 30-year-old finished 12th, failing to qualify for the medal race.

“I am feeling really good being able to finish this season as fast as I can,” Richardson said after the race. “I am definitely grateful, and I am excited with the way this season is going. Honestly, just knowing that my training has gotten me here – physically training, mentally training, emotionally training myself – to understand what it takes to finish an entire season and beyond the World Championships.” Furthermore, the 0.12-second win once again cements Richardson’s status as the gold medal favorite for Paris next summer.

Can Anyone Catch Sha’Carri Richardson?

The win in Switzerland marked Richardson’s third Diamond League title of the season, following wins in Doha and Silesia. However, the tight schedule eases up somewhat for Richardson. After Worlds and Zurich 10 days apart, Richardson won’t have a 100m race until the final meet in Oregon in mid-September. A lot can happen between now and the Olympics next summer. However, Richardson has set herself up as the fastest woman in the world this year and the person to beat next summer.

However, she wasn’t the only American taking gold in Zurich. Noah Lyles, who earned a sprint treble in Budapest, also came away with a 200m gold in Switzerland. Of course, Lyles is now better known after making statements in which he mocked the US’ liberal use of “world champions” when discussing regional sporting titles. “It is business as usual,” Lyles said. “Everybody wants to beat me and everybody wants the cake and the crown, but I am not giving it to them.”

Playboi Carti Updates Website Hinting At New Music

Playboi Carti fans have been waiting a long time for new music. His last studio album Whole Lotta Red dropped back in 2020. The rapper is often quite reclusive and doesn’t often make public announcements. Instead of the conventional methods of rolling out an album, many fans are expecting a surprise. Given that Carti is heading out on tour with his entire Opium label later this year, it stands to reason that he might release some new songs to play.

Now Playboi Carti is once again giving fans reasons to suspect new music is on the way. He made a simple update to his website, but one that has fans’ imaginations spinning. The addition of a “Music” tab on his site led many to believe that it will soon be filled with new material. Earlier this year he appeared on “Popular” alongside The Weeknd and Madonna. The track was released as a part of The Idol HBO series. Check out the changes to Carti’s website below.

Playboi Carti’s Website Includes Music Tab

Hints about new Playboi Carti music haven’t been hard to come by recently. DJ Scheme released a short video that featured a snippet of new music from the rapper. In the video, he’s doing a “deep voice” on the song which he’s done often recently. That included his performance on Travis Scott’s “FE!N,” from his smash hit new album Utopia. The song itself has been a pretty big hit as well. It debuted at number 5 on the Hot 100 and has stuck around on the chart ever since landing at number 44 this week.

Last month, snippets leaked that featured even more of Carti deploying his deep voice. The song hit the internet through an unknown source but gave fans a taste of what the rapper could be cooking up for his new album. What do you think of Playboi Carti teasing new music with an update to his website? Let us know in the comment section below.

Freebandz Tray Tray Reportedly Murdered In Chicago

According to reports, Future’s Freebandz artist Tray Tray passed away earlier this week. Though the circumstances surrounding his alleged death remain unclear, chatter online suggests that he was shot, and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. The up-and-coming rapper is said to have died in his hometown of Chicago. The tragic news comes as a major disappointment to fans, who have given their condolences across social media.

Tray Tray previously worked alongside notable artists like Young Thug, Tory Lanez, Doe Boy, and more. Countless social media users are weighing in on his passing, noting that he was likely yet another victim of gang violence. Many find it unfortunate that his life was taken before his music blew up. “Condolences to his Family,” one commenter writes. Most recently, Tray Tray dropped a music video for his track “What They On” in January.

Tray Tray Tragically Passes Away

In November of last year, he unveiled a couple of new music videos for “Opp Music” and “Free The Opps.” His crew ended up getting shot at while recording the “Opp Music” video. He later took to social media to share the clip. He discussed the turn of events in an interview with DJUTV that same month, calling it “just another day in the neighborhood.” Luckily, nobody was hit that day.

As for Future, the performer recently got his copyright lawsuit thrown out by a judge, after a man sued him for allegedly using elements from his song. The suit concerned Future’s 2018 Beast Mode 2 track “WHEN I THINK ABOUT IT.” The man, Daquan Robinson, claimed that he had ripped off his own song, “When U Think About It.” In the lawsuit, the man noted thematic similarities between the two songs, like money, guns, and jewelry. The judge, however, cited a few classic hip hop tracks, proving her point that those are common themes within the genre as a whole. Keep an eye on HNHH for more news.
