DDG Is ‘Way Too Petty’ On His Defensive Single As He Clears Up A Few Outstanding Rumors In A New Video

DDG declared that he was in love with a mermaid (that mermaid being his girlfriend, Halle Bailey) back in December. However, despite the Potomac native sharing how the singer served as an inspiration to him to be better, rumors began to circulate that the pair had broken up earlier this month.

For weeks, social media users urged Bailey to leave the rapper as they claimed he was damaging her buddy brand. The calls only grew louder when DDG’s ex-partner, fellow recording artist Rubi Rose, shared a screenshot alleging that he was still attempting to contact her, and weirdly enough gifted Bailey a t-shirt that once belonged to her. On his latest single, “Way Too Petty,” DDG is addressing all of the online chatter and more.

The rapper doesn’t mince his words, rapping, “Hoes screenshotting, that sh*t lame / Keep her on the side, she could never be my main,” and, “She just wanna make it, she be f*cked for the fame / Posting pictures naked, baby, you should be ashamed,” seemingly direct jabs at Rose. He didn’t stop there, rapping, “Tell them n***** do they research / I could fall off and come right back like it’s rebirth / Don’t believe the internet, it’s not that b*tch’s t-shirt.”

DDG then took a moment to respond to critics questioning why Bailey remains with him despite the circulating rumors, to which he answered, “I got a mean d*ck,” a line he’s used on social media in the past.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie Recruited Mariah The Scientist To Make His 2020 Track ‘Secrets’ Even Steamier

In December, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie dropped his new album Me Vs. Myself featuring Roddy Ricch, Lil Durk, and Tory Lanez, after postponing its release to not compete with Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss. Now, he’s back with even more material.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie just shared a new version of “Secrets” featuring Mariah the Scientist. The track comes from his 2020 LP Artist 2.0. Her vocals are a gorgeous addition to an already great song, adding another layer of sensuality: “Meet me in the back, take me through the alley / Know you want a bad girl, know you want a savage,” she sings.

For some reason (likely due to a mistake), A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie uploaded one YouTube video in which the audio for the song was missing. The comments are overflowing with jokes that end with fire emojis. One user wrote, “This Song Is Really A Secret.” Another wrote, “Greatest song I never heard.” One quipped, “This is a certified mute classic.” Luckily, there’s another posting of the video with audio.

Listen to the new version of “Secrets” above.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

India Arie Returns Catalog To Spotify After Calling Them Out Over Joe Rogan

It was around this time last year when India Arie unleashed on Joe Rogan. The famed podcast host and comedian was in the thick of a viral controversy after several clips of him disparaging Black people and using the n-word went viral. His supporters, including Black entertainers, refused to label their friend racist. Rogan returned to say he was being targeted while also noting that the n-word wasn’t for him to use.

During that time, there was also a call from a faction of critics for Spotify to remove Rogan’s podcast from its platform. The streaming giant quickly responded by saying that wouldn’t happen, and many noted it was because Rogan’s podcast was one of its most popular shows. Arie didn’t appreciate the response, so she said her catalog would no longer be available on Spotify.

“I have decided to pull my music and podcast from Spotify,” she wrote. “Neil Young opened a door that I MUST walk through. I believe in freedom of speech. However, I find Joe Rogan problematic for reasons OTHER than his Covid interviews… FOR ME ITS ALSO HIS language around race. What I am talking about is RESPECT – who gets it and who doesn’t.”

“Paying musicians a Fraction of a penny? and HIM $100?” Arie questioned. “This shows the type of company they are and the company that they keep. I’m tired.” However, it seems that she has had a change of heart because she announced on Instagram that her catalog made a triumphant return to Spotify. “After a successful protest!” she wrote before urging her followers to view previous posts to understand the context.

India Arie Has A Message For Naysayers

“Also I must say. All the media outlets and even ‘friends’ who talked sh*t about me lets see if you care NOW that my stance impacted change,” Arie further stated. “I WISH we had a ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY AROUND THE USE OF THE N WORD. Sadly we let people get away with it. I can’t change that. But the way MY DIGNITY is set up! I STOOD FOR ME. AND IT WORKED.” She added that she’s all about protecting her peace throughout the year. DJ Envy Says Irv Gotti Owes Him $10,000 For A Record He Produced Years Ago

It seems like artists and producers are recently trying to get back what they’re owed. DJ Envy said Irv Gotti never paid him $10,000 for a record he produced years ago. Moreover, he told the story while Jess Hilarious spoke of her contract and payment issues with Master P. Furthermore, the Breakfast Club hosts and Hilarious broke down their individual situations and spoke on their circumstances.

“I produced a record … [Gotti] definitely owe me $10,000,” Envy said on the popular radio show on Thursday (February 23). “Me and [DJ] Mono produced a record for Murder Inc. back in the day. I got my front end and I never got the back end. They was just like ‘keep it moving.’ So I kept it moving.” According to TMZ, Envy and Mono split the original payment between themselves, since Gotti never paid them the owed $10K. Also, continuing on that lane, Jess Hilarious spoke about her own contract issues with Master P.

DJ Envy Addresses The Irv Gotti Situation

“Basically, it all boils down to this,” she began, taking the time to explain another one of P’s contract issues. “Fat Trel said that he was promised by Master P that he would be put in a Menace II Society sequel that never came to fruition. I do believe him because that man will talk a good game to you. Even with me, I Got the Hook Up. I’m still owed [$15,000] for that. I’m not gon’ lie. I ain’t gon’ lie.”

However, the No Limit boss refuted these claims via various Instagram and interview statements. “For the cowards hiding behind their computers enforcing fake news, I do have @jesshilarious_official contract from 5 years ago for I Got The Hook Up 2 and the copy of the check that was cashed and paid,” he wrote on social media. “She was joking about a second check that was never in her contract. That’s the narrative they ran with for clickbait and fake headlines. Thank God for receipts!” Regardless of your take, check back in with HNHH for the latest on DJ Envy, Irv Gotti, and updates in these business stories.

He used to think I hated him and that was never the case. I was waiting for him to reach his potential before I could support him. I didn’t want to support when he was just a [young guy]. He and Kobe got together and changed everybody’s idea of what he was possible of doing.”
