Kodak Black Won’t Collab With Drake Because Released “Her Loss” With 21 Savage

They have collaborated in the past and regularly praise one another’s efforts, but Kodak Black has a bone to pick with Drake. The Florida rapper isn’t afraid of sharing his thoughts on social media, which was the case during a recent Livestream. In a clip, Kodak shares a screen with someone who tells him that they’re waiting on a new collaboration with Drake. It isn’t something that will materialize soon, suggests Kodak, because of a joint project that has yet to materialize.

“I had told Drake I don’t wanna do no collab,” said Kodak. “No songs or no album. ‘Cause we supposed to done did a whole album before him a lil’ buddy.” This was seemingly a reference to Drake and 21 Savage’s hit album, Her Loss. “Before him and lil’ buddy did that sh*t. I had told him I wanted to wait [until] like, 2023. Like, after February.”

A joint project isn’t that far-fetched, considering Kodak suggested an album was on the horizon last summer. “Me and Drake, we got some more music,” he said at the time. “It’s really on like whenever bruh might feel like he ready and stuff. They be like, ‘Is we gon’ drop the album? We gon’ do this?’ It’s really on him. We got a lot of songs, though.”

In 2020, Kodak even commented under one of Drake’s social media posts about partnering on a record. “I Am Your Biggest Fan Sir. … If We Can’t Do A Whole Album Together, I Never Want To Do A Song With You Sir.” Drake, in turn, further teased the collaboration after “Haitian Boy Kodak” arrived. “Man you always give me that inspiration…Real POET…Oracle. … Man let’s do some music for sure. But for real you really on another level.”

Drake Showers Kodak With Praise

Fans aren’t so sure that Kodak and Drizzy won’t collide in the studio once again. As formerly mentioned, they’ve publicly praised one another’s work and found success in previous collaborations. When Kodak went on Livestream in January 2022, fans quickly noted “Champagne Papi” was in the comment section. “You really all that for this generation and the next one if we being honest,” he wrote.

Pooh Shiesty Posts From Jail, Boasts About Status, Money: “Jay-Z Can’t Even Relate”

He was an artist climbing the Rap ranks when Pooh Shiesty was indicted in 2021. It stemmed from a shooting in October 2020, but in June 2021, Shiesty was arrested for a separate incident. The rapper faced several charges, but in the end, he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess a firearm in furtherance of violent and drug-trafficking crimes. Pooh was sentenced to five years behind bars, and he’s remained relatively quiet—that is, until now.

On Tuesday evening (February 21), Shiesty emerged on Instagram with a lengthy post. Unsurprisingly, the message was also quickly shared, and it looked as if the rapper was talking that talk from behind bars. He seemed more concerned with his street cred and Google’s listing of his net worth. “King Shiesty tappin in from the middle of the pennititary aka Hell where they say i cant go , jailing no telling !!” he began. “I still remain Untouched , Millions still in double digits ! tell google fix my networth we can verify that sh*t right now.”

Pooh Shiesty Boasts About His Status

He continued: “Yeah im locked up not f*cked up. i was 21 up 8 figures jayZ cant even relate my money tripple my followers.” Additionally, it seemed that Shiesty was upset with how certain people were speaking about him. “Stop playing with my name before i buy one of you for sale ass n*ggas you n*ggas ANYTHING! I put on for this Choppa Gang sh*t everyday. Twice on Sundays im on the same sh*t from Tokio to Tennesse.”

After a bit more bragging, Shiesty had a message for those who have stood in his corner. “For my fans , supporters , love ones holding me down everyday,” he said. “Keep keeping it solid i promise it dont get unnoticed i see everything and got some special for all word is law.” However, he also had a scathing note for his foes.

Shiesty Has Words For His Enemies

“The rest of you pussies dead ! keep hating , false advertising , back biting , and counting me out, it up and stuck like a tree house,” he further stated. “Im touching down to terrorize i gotta dorito on my shoulder im going 100% flamboyant on you f*cking clowns ! its all bad for you wild ass n*ggas ‘ ALL EYES ON SHIEST ‘ #NeverCheckedIn #SnitchK #No5k1 #Norule35 #Mr.Omerta.” Read the post in its entirety above.

Ariana Grande Might Be Deep In Her ‘Wicked’ Era, But She Was Willing To Hit The Studio For One Particular Friend

Music Twitter is in a frenzy after The Weeknd teased what appeared to be a remix of his Starboy standout “Die For You” featuring the return of a long-absent pop diva.

The Toronto singer shared a TikTok video from none other than Ariana Grande, who apparently filmed herself recording vocals for the updated track. “Wrote and recorded a verse for my friend after a 14-hour day on set,” she wrote. “This certain exception had to be made…”

The exception, of course, was to record outside music while working on the film adaptation of Wicked, which is currently eating up the bulk of the 29-year-old singer’s schedule. However, she beat the “not a singer anymore” allegations with a glimmering “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” rendition for her TikTok followers.

Obviously, she’ll be doing a bit of singing in Wicked as Glinda (the “good witch”), but for now, she won’t be working on new music of her own until Wicked wraps and releases.

It’s very interesting that The Weeknd is choosing to remix a now-seven-year-old song, but it shows his awareness of trends; thanks to fans on TikTok, the song broke the Billboard Hot 100’s top ten in January, and has remained there ever since. It’s symbolic of the new era of music in which decades-old songs can crack the Hot 100 for the first time thanks to sci-fi shows and TikTok trends, and The Weeknd might just be showing his peers how best to capitalize on old tracks that become new hits.

We’ll see if the actual remix drops in the near future, but for now, this teaser offers just enough of a glimpse at what it could be to get fans excited.

Will Smith Jokes About What His Oscar Thinks Of Him

Prepare to rehash one of the biggest moments in The Academy Awards show history as the ceremony approaches. In just a few weeks, Hollywood’s elite will gather together again to praise one another’s creative efforts. Smith won’t be in attendance after last year’s scandal, as The Academy banned him from the ceremony for ten years. We remember when the Oscar winner became upset with Chris Rock, stormed the stage, and slapped his former friend. The fallout was heavy, and Smith found his blemish-free reputation muddled.

After taking some time away from the spotlight, Smith returned to promote his acclaimed film, Emancipation. The press tour was difficult, but Smith persevered through the jeers. Now, it looks as if he can joke about his snafu somewhat, and he used a viral video to do so. On Instagram, Smith uploaded a clip of himself taking advice from a social media user.

What Would Will Smith’s Oscars Say?

The woman said, “This is literally—it sounds insane, but it will change your life. And by ‘change your life,’ I mean it will make your life so much more interesting and fun. Did you know that you can pick any object, look at it, and ask it what it thinks of you? So, for example, you can pick up a pen and ask it how it sees you or what it thinks of you. And you will get an answer in your mind from your intuition.”

She goes on to list objects like cars and money before Smith has a thoughtful look on his face. Then, he reaches off-camera and brings his Oscar to the forefront. As it seems he’s about to ask the loaded question, the camera cuts out. Smith’s comment section was quickly flooded with playful takes, and because Instagram now has gifs, it was a sight to see.

Will Smith Apologized About Unfortunate Oscars Moment

Following “The Slap,” Smith formally apologized to The Academy, Chris Rock, and fans. Rock has continued to perform comedy acts across the globe and reportedly touched on being assaulted at the Oscars. It is unclear if Rock will make a return to The Academy Awards on March 12, but viewers will be searching for references to last year’s controversy.

Vybz Kartel Loses Bid To Introduce New Evidence In Murder Appeal

Vybz Kartel remains the reigning champion of dancehall, even throughout his incarceration. Police arrested and charged the dancehall star in 2011 in relation to the murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. A few years later, the court convicted the “Romping Shop” singer and sentenced him to life in prison. Throughout his time behind bars, he remained one of the most consistent artists in the dancehall scene. At the same time of releasing an abundance of music, he attempted to appeal his conviction. Unfortunately, his attempts haven’t proven to be successful.

Most recently, Vybz Kartel took his appeal to the United Kingdom’s Privy Council where he tried to have “fresh evidence” introduced to his appeal. Kartel’s attorneys want to bring forth new evidence relating to the singer’s phone, which contained incriminating text messages and voice messages surrounding the murder of Williams. However, his attorney argued that there are signs of tampering with the phone during its time in police custody. Throughout the numerous attempts, Kartel’s chances of release became slim. Still, he remains hopeful that he could overturn his conviction in the future.

Privy Council Denies Vybz Kartel’s “Fresh Evidence” But Appeal Isn’t Over

Per Dancehall Mag, the UK-based Privy Council, Jamaica’s final court, denied Vybz Kartel’s motion to introduce this “fresh evidence” of tampering. This came after they refused permission to appeal “additional grounds” brought forth by his legal team. Additionally, the court refused his co-defendants, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John on similar grounds. “Having considered written submissions from the Appellants and the Respondent, we have agreed to report to Your Majesty as our opinion that permission to appeal to be refused in the application dated 20 November 2020,” the committee reported.

However, not all hope is lost in this case. Though his efforts to introduce new evidence have been denied, his actual appeal still stands and is outstanding. As Kartel continues to fight the case, it seems as though he will still have a chance to make an argument in front of Jamaica’s final court. Still, his attorney, Isat Buchanan, didn’t share any new information with the media. “The matter is sub judice,” Buchanan said, which is Latin for “under a judge.” We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding Vybz Kartel’s trial.

Ice-T Says Lil Wayne Was Supposed To Perform For Grammy’s Hip Hop 50th Tribute

There were dozens of our favorite Hip Hop acts on stage at this year’s Grammy Awards, and Ice-T claims Lil Wayne should have been one of them. Missy Elliott, Public Enemy, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Grandmaster Flash, Scarface, Lil Uzi Vert, and more came together to celebrate Hip Hop’s 50th Anniversary. It was a show unlike any other as generations of the culture banded together, and Weezy was close to adding his name to the list.

“When we did the show, Lil Wayne was in the show, but then he didn’t actually do the performance,” Ice-T shared while on the Holdin’ Court podcast. “Something happened on the red carpet. Future was sitting at my table. He was supposed to perform, he didn’t perform. So, a lot of—” The host interrupted to suggest it was “a little bit of a mess.” Ice replied, “It’s live TV.”

Ice-T Almost Didn’t Perform At the Grammys

Several artists were asked to perform but didn’t make the show. Ice-T recently said that his scheduling conflicts with Law & Order almost kept him from making an appearance. “I get a call from Questlove and he says, ‘We’re doing a thing in L.A. this weekend. I say, ‘I can’t make it,’” the Rap icon told PEOPLE. “He says, ‘The Grammys.’ And I go, ‘Eh.’ And he goes, ‘You don’t wanna be sitting home Ice, watching it—all your homies—and saying I was invited but I didn’t go. And I got my Black ass on the plane. He put it in perspective. The Grammys didn’t even respect hip-hop for so long. And now, to be here and to be honored like this, we’ll take it.”

Questlove also fired off tweets about the difficulties in rallying these hitmakers. Fans complained in droves, questioning why this or that artist didn’t perform. According to The Roots icon, many were already booked, some simply didn’t want to, and for the third group, Quest didn’t detail those responses. He did suggest there was an August taping that others agreed to, but not the Grammys. Quest was the co-curator for the performance and suggested he struggled with the team to create a full line-up. In the end, most fans seemed more than thrilled, regardless.
