38 Spesh has a new project in the cut that he’s ready to unload this fall. The Rochester rapper returned this morning with his latest release, “Painful” ft. Freeway and Che Noir off of his upcoming effort 7 Shots. Che Noir sets off the record as she details the pain of a broken home. As the production breeds a sense of urgency, 38 Spesh follows up quickly afterward as he details being trapped in the street lifestyle and the inevitable outcome that follows. With Freeway closing out the record, he delivers a powerful 16 where he ties together the previous verses as he describes dealing with grief.
“This song is pure pain just like the title says” 38 Spesh said in a statement. “Especially for me and Freeway because the track was brought together by a mutual friend of ours who passed away shortly after we made it.”

As she struts her way into the Pop-Rap space with ease, Latto’s reign extends. The Georgia rapper has been a force in the industry as she has elevated from her days as a teen on The Rap Game into an award-winning artist with Mariah Carey features. The Queen of Da Souf icon has been vying for her moment in the Hip Hop sun for years, and now that she has arrived, Latto is reaping her rewards.
The rapper’s track “It’s Givin” has been lighting up social media and today (August 31), Latto rounds out the month by delivering a music video for her standout track. The visual hosts a bevy of ladies that you may recognize: Flo Milli, Ella Mai, Angela Simmons, Tiffany “New York” Pollard, Halley Bailey, Chlöe Bailey, and many more.
This comes on the tail of Latto’s other recent successes, including her controversial single “P*ssy” where she targeted the political upheaval regarding Roe. v. Wade.

Chlöe Bailey is setting the stage for her massive solo debut. Though Chlöe x Halle are still hitting the stage together, the older sister of the duo has unleashed a ton of new music in the past year that has fans both excited and curious to hear where she’ll be heading next.
Today, she came through with some stripped-down singles for Spotify Singles. First, she tackles Anita Howard’s “Freak Like Me” which she initially debuted during her performance at the BET Awards earlier this year. Clearly, she heard the demand for a full version.
The second record released under Spotify Singles is a stripped-down version of Chlöe’s new single, “Surprise.”

Quando Rondo is back in action with the release of a brand new single. The Georgia rapper teams up with NBA Youngboy for their new single, “Give Me A Sign.” The two artists launch into bluesy production as they discuss trauma from the streets and the violence that they’ve witnessed over the years. Quando Rondo and NBA Youngboy’s honesty in their pen digs deep into their psyche. “Real lone, mom, I lost my soul, I like to be alone/ Keep a burner on me but you know just how it is if I don’t make it home,” Youngboy raps on the record. YB also appears to shout out Lul Timm, who is accused of fatally shooting King Von. “Blackball and wanna see us down ’cause Timm get dirty with that iron,” YB raps.
“Give Me A Sign” marks Quando’s first release since being involved in a deadly shooting earlier this month. The rapper was reportedly targeted by three gunmen at a gas station in California who fatally shot Quando’s friend.

Young Thug asked 23-time Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps for advice on swimming back to shore from 100 miles into the ocean on Twitter, Wednesday, prompting jokes about the rapper attempting to break out of prison. Thug is currently awaiting trial on a number of charges related to the recent 56-count RICO indictment of his Young Slime Life label.
“I’m talking with my roommate and we’re wondering if you could swim 100 miles from the middle of the ocean back to shore,” Thug tweeted, tagging Michael Phelps.

“U tryna escape,” one fan wrote in response to the post.
Another joked: “Oh nah they moved him to Alcatraz.”
Phelps has yet to respond to the tweet.
Earlier this month, it was announced that Thug had received a trial date of January 9, 2023. One major controversial factor in the trial will be the prosecution’s use of rap lyrics.
Fulton County District Attorney Fanni Willis recently defended the use of music in court, saying at a press conference, “If you decide to admit your crimes over a beat, I’m gon’ use it… People can continue to be angry about it, [but] I have some legal advice: Don’t confess to crimes on rap lyrics if you do not want them used — or, at least, get out of my county.”
Apparently, things aren’t moving too smoothly between Kanye West and GAP. The retail giant and the hip-hop mogul have been working closely together but it seems like they don’t want to let Ye be Ye. The rapper hit the ‘Gram last night where he revealed that GAP was holding a meeting without him. This morning, he accused the GAP of biting Yeezy x Balenciaga designs.
It seems like Kanye West finally got the attention of the GAP executives. The mogul hit the ‘Gram with a 6-minute video where he appears to be explaining to the executives why the collaboration “isn’t celebrity marketing.” “This is a life mission,” he added. The long-winded speech finds Kanye explaining his passion for fashion and how he intends to use it to transform the world through it. He explained his own desire to establish retail stores for his GAP line.
“You have to really give me the position to be Ye and do what I’m thinking or I’m going to have to do what I’m thinking somewhere else. Because if there’s one thing I learned from Virgil, if something’s killing you, it’s actually killing you,” he said. Kanye West then called out GAP for canceling the pre-orders for the blue jackets before calling them “insane” for only running an advertisement once, even though they saw a huge spike in sales.

“This is the moment. There will never be an opportunity with a guy like me that cares this much about specifically this brand and has done this until this point. We are like Tom Brady waking people up at 2 am during COVID but he went back and got that ring,” he said. “We are the football team. This is our football team. And I’m actually the Tom Brady because Demna charge $4000 for a shirt. I’m saying… how do we go Costco, how do we go Old Navy prices?”
Ye continued to explain that he’s hands-on at the factories before giving GAP an ultimatum. “This is bigger than us. We shouldn’t argue amongst ourselves. But I’m saying I have to go pull that sword out the stone,” he added. “You either believe me or I’m going to show you. I can either show you facing this way [back facing the executives] or facing this way [frontward],” he said.
At the tail end of the video, Kanye shuts down the laughter among the executives and swears on Virgil and his mom. Watch the video below.

Save Your Soul, (Sept. 2 on Peacock), which premieres in theaters this weekend. The 51-year-old comedian, plays Trinitie Childs, the first lady of a megachurch, who’s husband is Sterling K. Brown, who plays pastor Lee-Curtis Childs. Hall’s character supports her husband and the church as they rebrand after being involved in a scandal that upsets their congregation.
The famed actor and director who is known for her roles in Black Monday, Girls Trip, the Best Man and cult classic Scary Movie franchise recently partnered with CÎROC for #CIROCStands for Black Businesses at the 20th annual Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival. A mission that highlights effort and ongoing commitment to celebrate the powerful voices and people within the Black community that are depicting excellence and igniting change.
The DC native and Me Time (Aug. 26 on Netflix), cast member who also stars in the limited series, The Best Man: The Final Chapters (Dec. 22 on Peacock), spoke with Kim SoMajor of The Source and dished on her new partnership with #CIROCStands, having ownership in Hollywood, starting her production company Rh Negative and more.
What sparked you to take on your latest film project, “Honk for Jesus. Save YourSoul.”
I really enjoyed the script when I read it and then I met with Adamma and Adanne and although they were young, I had seen their short film and knew they had a vision for what they had in mind. I hadn’t worked with Sterling before so when he joined, I was excited to work with him and couldn’t imagine creating these characters with anyone else.
What’s your role and intention set to accomplish with your partnership with CÎROC?
As a Black woman, I of course support female, Black owned businesses which is part of why I appreciate what #CIROCStands is accomplishing for the community. It’s that shared mission that drew me to them. Being at Martha’s Vineyard and being on a panel with such amazing women was truly inspiring. There’s such a rich history and roots in the culture there and I loved celebrating that!
How does the association align with everything that you’re doing as a businesswoman?
Like #CIROCStands, I believe it’s important to highlight people of different backgrounds. There are smart, talented people from varied pasts and to find them and give them a space to create and tell really good stories is part of why I was inspired to start producing.
As a business owner, starting Rh Negative production company- What has been adefinitive moment for you that reaffirmed that you made the right move in launching?
Producing is a process that involves many people and I love the sense of collaboration involved in developing a project from beginning to end. It brings me joy every time I’m able to facilitate the success of a project and enable other people’s dreams coming true.
With your production company, you are providing an opportunity for many creatives. How important is it for black women to have ownership in Hollywood or entertainment ingeneral?
We live in a diverse world and it’s important that diversity be seen on screen, which means it must exist behind the scenes. Everyone has different life experiences, and that varied history creates well-informed decisions that positively influence each project and inherently the industry as a whole.
How did you know that was the next move for you?
I’ve wanted to produce for several years. I felt like I had worked and gotten to a place where I had enough knowledge to be able to produce. It wasn’t an overnight thing, despite what people think, it took years, hard work, and a will for it to happen.
Can you share 5 tips on balancing asuccessful entrepreneurial lifestyle and home life of wellness?
More of a balance is always the goal, although it’s not always easy. I would say what helps me is good friends, an incredible team, fun, rest, and a quiet place where my imagination can roam.
What’s in store for you in the last quarter of 2022?
We’re of course excited for Honk for Jesus to be released and then we have TheBest Man coming out just in time for the holidays! Then a few other things that are soon to be announced. I work with two organizations called Scleroderma Research Foundation and Solutions Project and hope to partner with them on a few things too.
