Fugees Canceled Reunion Tour Due To Pras Michel’s Legal Trouble: Report

The cancelation of Fugees’ reunion tour was reportedly due to Pras Michel’s alleged involvement in a $4.5 billion money laundering scheme. The group had originally claimed that their decision to cancel the concerts was in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The report comes from Puck News, which claims that Pras was unable to get permission to leave the country to perform at the Fugees’ scheduled overseas dates.

“The continued COVID pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe,” Fugees said in a statement when they announced the tour’s cancelation.

The slate of reunion shows was scheduled in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the group’s classic album, The Score.

Back in 2019, Pras was charged with campaign finance violations including “one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States government and for making foreign and conduit campaign contributions,” after allegedly making contributions to Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign on behalf of Malaysian businessman, Jho Low. Low is accused of stealing $4.5 billion Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, 1 Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB). The US Department of Justice has called the 1MDB scandal as a whole the “largest kleptocracy case to date.”

Pras’ trial is set for November 4 in Washington, D.C., where he will be defended by David Kenner, who famously represented Snoop Dogg for a murder charge in 1996. Pras could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Diddy Shares Photo Of Him And Dr. Dre In The Studio, “One Of My Biggest Dreams Finally Came True…”

dre and diddy

Diddy and Dr. Dre are two of the greatest producers of all time, and its unfortunate that throughout both of their 3 decade long careers, they have never collaborated together. However, Diddy recently took to Instagram where he shared pictures of himself and Dr. Dre working in the studio.

“Yesterday, one of my biggest dreams finally came true. I remember the first time I heard @DrDre’s production,” Diddy wrote in the caption. “It gave me clear direction on the level of Producer that I wanted to be. Last night, I got the chance to work with this man and to see his genius as he coached me through vocals.’

“He reminded me of myself, but with a different style and way more focused. I gotta step my focus up lol !” Diddy added. “But it was a great experience and I thank God for it. I hope one day ya’ll get to have the same experience with someone that you always looked up to as a hero.”

According to HipHopDX, who received an email from Diddy’s team, the two super producers were in the studio working on Dre’s highly anticipated album with Snoop Dogg.

“The two music moguls came together to collaborate for Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated upcoming album with Snoop Dogg, who was also in attendance. Producing with Dr. Dre has been a long-time dream for Mr. [Sean] Combs and the night was made even more special as he coached him through vocals.”

It seems as if Dre is really bringing hip hop production royalty on his next album. Earlier this week, Conway the machine shared a picture of himself on IG in the studio with Dr. Dre and Kanye. He captioned the photo “Spooky!…”

Logic Unveils His First-Ever Beat Tape “Peanuts”

Despite claims of retirement, it feels like Logic is releasing just as much music now as he did during his come-up. The rapper is just a few months removed from the release of his latest body of work, Vinyl Days, which has received some serious praise. The album’s title was apparently an indication of where he was heading next. Earlier today, the rapper got into his producer bag for his latest release, Peanuts, his first ever instrumental tape. The project boasts 20 records in total without any features. It’s also credited as “Peanuts” on bandcamp, rather than Logic. However, he did promote the record on his official Instagram page once it dropped.

Check out Logic’s new project below and sound off on your thoughts on his production.

NY Stores Could Begin Checking IDs For The Purchase Of Whipped Cream

New York stores may begin checking IDs for the purchase of whipped cream as the canisters have been banned for anyone under 21. The bill was passed last year in an effort to stop teenagers from inhaling the nitrous oxide used as a propellant in the cans.

While inhaling nitrous oxide can bring about feelings of euphoria, relaxation, and calmness, it can also cause loss of blood pressure, fainting, heart attack, and sudden death.

Democratic state Sen. Joseph Addabbo sponsored the bill banning the sale of the whipped cream cannisters to those under 21, last year.

“This new law is an important step in [combating] a significant problem for many neighborhoods throughout my district,” Addabbo said last fall. “The need to limit the access and sale of [whippets] first became apparent [to me] after [I had been] receiving constituent complaints about empty canisters on neighborhood streets. Used [whippets] piling up in our communities are not only an eyesore but also indicative of a significant nitrous oxide abuse problem.”

Kent Sopris, the president of the New York Association of Convenience Stores, voiced his displeasure with the bill in a statement, according to NBC News: “Requiring age verification when purchasing whipped cream is another classic compliance burden placed on convenience stores in New York State. We hear constantly how important small businesses are to New York politicians but quite frankly laws like this prove otherwise.”

Addabbo has responded to the backlash to the announcement, clarifying to The New York Times that the bill is not intended as an outright ban on the sale of whipped cream, but instead, the sale of the chargers used to dispense the topping.

“Are you kidding me?” he said. “What elected official would do that? It’s so silly.”

“I thought the language was clear,” Addabbo added.

A spokesperson for the supermarket chain, Price Chopper, told the Times Union that the stores will begin checking IDs for the purchase of whipped cream on September 1.
