Jayson Tatum Delivers Definitive Stance On Jaylen Brown Trade Rumor

Over the last week or so, the Boston Celtics have had to deal with a very interesting report. This report actually has to do with Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. Everyone knows that Durant wants to be traded from the Nets, although nothing has materialized so far. With that said, it was recently revealed that the Celtics offered the Nets a package for Durant that included franchise cornerstone, Jaylen Brown.

Celtics fans were pretty shocked by this report especially since the Celtics made it to the NBA Finals this year with their current core. Brown is an exceptional young player, and it just wouldn’t make sense for the Celtics to part ways with him, especially for a player that is aging and on a rival team.

Jayson Tatum remains the best player on the Celtics roster, and recently, he was asked about the rumors and whether or not he wants everyone on the roster to be back this year. Tatum was very matter-of-fact in his answer noting that due to everyone’s contract status, they really have no choice.

“Yeah, we don’t have any free agents on the team. So everybody has to come back,” Tatum said. He also made sure to note that he has been in contact with his teammates and that he wants them in Boston for the long haul.

The Brown reports are certainly concerning, but when KD is available, it only makes sense that some teams would get a little crazy.

Kodak Black Does A Fit Check And Shows Off Ankle Monitor

With so many impressive fits, it’s hard to even think of the cost of what a rapper might be wearing on any given day. Kodak Black’s clearly a big flexer in this area, as the Florida rapper talked to Chris Too Smoove via TikTok and detailed the cost of his fit. He even cheekily included his ankle monitor while on house arrest.

The “Super Gremlin” artist revealed he spent a million dollars for his grill, and around $3 million on his collection of chains that hung from his neck. Understandably, Kodak also proved that it gets hard to keep track of so much drip. When asked about his jacket, he simply responded with “it depends.” As far as pants, the 25-year-old said he spent 50 racks on his yellow shorts. Chris also asked Kodak about his ring, which he just said was “expensive” and that he made it himself with diamonds from Haiti.

It’s not the only way in which Kodak’s fit paid homage to his heritage, as he said his custom Nikes were from Haiti, as well. But he didn’t end at the kicks. He also had to shout out his “expensive” ankle bracelet and the previously mentioned ankle monitor, which he said costs $250,000.

Kodak’s spoke out recently about his unhappiness with his sentence following his recent arrest, citing character assassination after he’s made important contributions to his community. Lil Uzi Vert recently spoke out to support his fellow 2016 XXL Freshman. The arrest also hasn’t stopped Kodak from performing, as he had a wild set at Rolling Loud Miami 2022 and a surprise appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s headlining slot.

Kodak’s not slowing down, and neither is his fit game.

Chaka Khan Is Still Upset With Kanye West’s “Through The Wire” Sample

This is an opinion that Chaka Khan has previously shared, but she is rehashing her feelings over Kanye West sampling her track. The music mogul famously borrowed Khan’s “Through The Fire” for his hit “Through The Wire,” but after it was released, Khan claimed that she was unhappy with his version. Earlier on in his career, West was famously known for his “Chipmunk Soul” or “Chipmunk Hip Hop” productions, and he did this with “Through The Fire,” speeding things up to make voices high-pitched.

Khan recently sat down with Good Day DC and was asked if she has since heard from West after voicing her disapproval all these years later. She said no.

“I’m not looking to hear from Kanye, either,” said Khan. “No, I’ve not heard from him and I’m not looking to hear from him. That’s what he did. That’s what he did with his music. I was upset about sounding like a chipmunk, ’cause he didn’t put that when he asked [if] he could use my, sample my song. He didn’t mention that he was gonna speed it up three times its normal speed.”

Khan added that had West told her of his plans, she may have rejected his request. Because of West, the singer added that she now has people specify exactly how they intend to use her music. She previously called West’s sample “insulting” and “stupid.”

Lizzo’s ‘About Damn Time’ Keeps The No. 1 Spot On The Hot 100 Chart For A Second Week

Lizzo had a major career moment last week when “About Damn Time” climbed to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Now, on the new Hot 100 chart dated August 6, we have a repeat on our hands as “About Damn Time” is on top for a second straight week. This makes “About Damn Time” Lizzo’s second song to spend multiple weeks at No. 1, after “Truth Hurts” had seven weeks on top in 2019.

Meanwhile, the next four spots on the chart are also all the same as last week: Harry Styles’ “As It Was” is No. 2, Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)” is No. 3, Jack Harlow’s “First Class” is No. 4, and Future, Drake, and Tems’ “Wait For U” is No. 5.

We have a couple noteworthy changes in the bottom half of the top 10, though. Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” rises to No. 6, a new peak for the Renaissance single. Post Malone and Doja Cat’s “I Like You (A Happier Song)” also re-enters the top 10 at its previous high of No. 9, following the recent release of a fun new video for the track.

Peloton Is Being Sued For Using Unlicensed Cypress Hill Songs

You’d think Peloton would have figured out their music licensing rights deals by now. Considering the company has partnered with Beyoncé, Eminem, and David Bowie’s estate in the recent past, streaming music to play alongside their cycling workout programs ought to be a fairly straightforward setup, just as it is with any streaming service: The music gets used and royalty payment gets paid out to the copyright owners. Well, according to a lawsuit filed on behalf of DJ Muggs of Cypress Hill and his company Soul Assassins Inc., Peloton has been using Cypress Hill’s music and not paying for the rights to do so.

“Peloton’s use of [the songs] in its work-out videos without a license from Soul Assassins is an outrageous, willful infringement because Peloton was sued by a group of music publishers in March of 2019 for doing the exact same thing,” DJ Muggs’ lawyers wrote, in a court document obtained by Billboard. “Clearly […] Peloton knew unequivocally that it had no right to use any musical composition in its exercise videos without first obtaining a license for one hundred percent of the song.”

The 2019 claim cited above, is in reference to a $150 million suit filed by the NMPA, claiming that Peloton was using music by artists like Drake, Rihanna, Bruno Mars, Ed Sheeran, and more, without securing the exclusive rights to do so. Now, Muggs claims that Peloton has used Cypress Hill tracks including “Insane In The Brain” and “Rap (Superstar)” without permission.

How Peloton is not locked into licensing deals the way TikTok or even Spotify are, is a bit mind-boggling. This feels similar to when podcasts were (and still regularly do) receiving takedown notices en masse for using songs without permission. Spotify as a podcast platform found a way to pay out royalties to those rights holders via their existing streaming agreements. It would serve Peloton well to enter into a partnership with a streaming service who can clear the usage rights for them so they don’t have to keep going on the defensive for what are very pricey lawsuits. Until then, Muggs and Soul Assassins Inc. are having none of it.

“Peloton is a textbook willful infringer,” the claim states. “Peloton fully understood what the copyright law required, having entered into sync licenses with certain other copyright holders, while trampling the rights of Plaintiffs by using their musical works for free and without permission.”

Eminem, Dr. Dre & 50 Cent Share “Crack A Bottle” Music Video

Ahead of the release of his highly-anticipated second great hits collection, Eminem has unearthed a music video for his 2009 hit, “Crack a Bottle.” The Relapse song features two of the Detroit rapper’s frequent collaborators, 50 Cent and Dr. Dre.

“Unlocked from the Shady vault,” Eminem captioned a clip from the video on Twitter, Monday, announcing the previously unreleased video.

“Crack a Bottle” remains one of the most successful singles of Eminem’s storied career, having set a record at the time for first-week digital sales with 418,000 downloads. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group in 2010.
