Kodak Black’s Lawyer Claims That The Oxycodone Pills The Rapper Was Arrested With Were Prescribed To Him

Kodak Black’s legal troubles continued over the weekend when the rapper was arrested on a pair of drug charges in relation to the possession of oxycodone pills. Days after the arrest happened, Kodak Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen is claiming that the rapper is not wrong for possessing the oxycodone pills because they were prescribed to him. During a conversation with TMZ, Cohen claims that the pills were prescribed to Kodak for pain he was dealing with after he was shot during a fight in Los Angeles back in February. Kodak’s lawyer adds that the pills were also to help him cope with injuries from an alleged assault by prison guards.

Cohen notes that he’s given prosecutors proof that the pills were prescribed, which will hopefully resolve the matter quickly. Kodak’s arrest occurred on July 15 and it came after officers pulled him over for an alleged illegal window tint as he rode in a Dodge Durango. Cops approached the car and it was here that they smelled a strong scent of marijuana. As a result, the vehicle was searched and 31 oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash were discovered. Kodak was then hit with two drug charges: possession of a controlled substance without prescription and trafficking with oxycodone. All in all, it was an unfortunate event for Kodak in what’s been a strong year musically for him.

Bun B Says He’s Got An “Album Worth Of Music” With Big K.R.I.T.

Despite just finishing a collaborative album with Cory Mo, Bun B says that he still has more music on the way, including an album’s worth of material recorded with Big K.R.I.T. The UGK rapper discussed the unreleased music during a recent interview with HipHopDX.

“I just put out something very recently with a good friend and longtime collaborator of mine named Cory Mo,” Bun B told the outlet. “The album’s called Mo Trill and that’s out now. That’s my newest release. And I’ve got a couple of things cooking. I’m working on something with Mannie Fresh right now as a full length album and a couple other producers. Cool & Dre, we’ve been sitting on some songs. We started a project before the pandemic and it’s just been really up to us to reconnect.”

He continued: “But I’m trying to get down there for Rolling Loud. I’m going to have my burgers at Rolling Loud as well. Not to talk about Rolling Loud or whatever, but hopefully I’ll see them in Miami and try to get some more recording done with them. I still have another album worth of music that Big K.R.I.T. and I recorded a couple of years ago. I’m just trying to stay active. I know Zaytoven and I have some songs. I’m just trying to tap in with friends.”

Bun B’s album with Cory Mo, Mo Trill, was released back in May. The project features guest appearances from  Benny The Butcher, Talib Kweli, 2 Chainz, and more.

Elsewhere in the interview, Bun B admitted that he hasn’t enjoyed making music since the death of his UGK partner, Pimp C. The late rapper passed away in December 2007 at just 33 years old.

Bun B is scheduled to bring his Trill Mealz Food Court to LL COOL J’s inaugural Rock The Bells Festival in Queens, later this summer.

Maxo Kream Calls On Anderson .Paak For “The Vision”

Even though it’s been over a year since Maxo Kream released his last studio album, Weight Of The World, he isn’t allowing the status quo to rush his creative process. He’s been steadily teasing the release of a deluxe edition for the project over the past few months. He came through with “JIGGA DAME” to kick off the campaign before unveiling the Benny The Butcher-assisted “Football Heads” on Friday.

It seems like Maxo Kream has no intention of slowing down before the deluxe edition arrives. Just days after linking up with Benny The Butcher, he’s joined forces with Anderson .Paak for “The Vision.” The smooth and slow production from Teej oozes nostalgia – a feeling that’s further emphasized by Anderson .Paak’s soulful croons. Though it’s not unfamiliar sonic territory for Maxo Kream, the undeniable synchronicity between the Houston rapper and the California singer makes “The Vision” another promising release ahead of Weight Of The World (Deluxe).

Quotable Lyrics

I’m flossin’ like a snaggle tooth
‘Cause boastin’, braggin’ what I do
