In case you missed it, Vince McMahon is gone from the WWE. The man who built the company into the titan it is today retired. The news of his retirement comes after weeks of headlines and left a hole to be filled in WWE creative. That hole will be filled by his son-in-law and WWE Hall of Fame Paul “Triple H” Levesque.

The reveal comes in a memo to shareholders, announcing Stephanie McMahon and Nick Khan as co-CEOs. In addition, Levesque will continue his role as EVP of talent relations.

In a separate statement, Triple H, who recently battled a heart scare, said “I’m healthy, fired up, and ready to take charge.”

Last September, Paul “Triple H” Levesque had a “cardiac event” leading to the legendary wrestler and WWE executive missing time from the company. At this year’s Wrestlemania, Triple H made a public WWE appearance, leaving his wrestling boots in the middle of the ring, an action traditionally done to signal a retirement.

“I just wanted to come out here, to say thank you,” Triple H opened. “And to show you my love in the best way I know how. Welcome to Wrestlemania.”

Triple H would also visit Stephen A. Smith to formally announce his retirement.

Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido and More Announced as Headliners for Lost in Riddim Festival

Lost In Riddim 2022 Music Lineup 1

The renowned R&B/hip-hop/soul music festival Sol Blume’s organizers have announced their afrobeats music festival, Lost In Riddim, which will take place this fall on October 1-2.

Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Davido, three of Nigeria’s top performers, will coheadline the event with other international performers like Ella Mai, Skepta, Kizz Daniel, Sean Paul, Tems, and others in honor of Nigerian Independence Day Weekend the exact same weekend.

The festival is moving to Lake Cunningham Park in San Jose, California, just southwest of its previous home in Sacramento after a successful first event last fall. The outdoor festival will have a significantly wider footprint, two main stages with non-overlapping performances for audiences, a third, much smaller tent stage, and all-day DJ sets.

This year’s festivities will be more accessible to attendees than ever thanks to the new venue in San Jose, which also provides more activations, immersive art, vendors, and space for dancing with other music lovers inside the festival, as well as more transportation and lodging options for out-of-town visitors.

“As proud children of immigrant parents, we created Lost In Riddim because we wanted to offer a festival experience more authentic to ourselves and our culture. Something that speaks to us not only as music fans, but who we are as people,” said Fornati Kumeh, festival co-founder and talent buyer. “With a new and larger location, not to mention this incredible lineup of international artists locked in to perform, I’m expecting this to be a weekend for the record books. We really hope fans worldwide will come show out at Lost In Riddim this October.”

The festival, like its predecessor, will also feature popular forms of African, Caribbean, and Black American music, such as reggae, dancehall, afro-fusion, hip-hop, R&B, and others. International superstars like Ella Mai and Skepta, both from the United Kingdom, are notable performers outside of the afrobeats genre. A number of Jamaican artists, such Sean Paul and Koffee, have also been added to the lineup, along with hip-hop artists like the Grammy Award-winning rapper Wale, who is from Washington, D.C.

Balenciaga Creative Director, Demna, Says The Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga collaboration is Over

Kanye West Gap Delay Launch Of Balenciaga Line

Over the weekend, Kanye heads flooded Gap stores around the country after it was announced that the Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga collection would be making its way into stores. Gap’s flagship store in New York City was the first to offer the collection, followed by the rest of the country on Saturday, July 23rd. Vans carrying the merch even popped up in Miami, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

The release of this collection has Kanye fans wondering what the future looks like for the Yeezy Gap partnership. According to Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna, the future of Yeezy Gap will continue without Balenciaga. The designer announced on Monday, July 25, that the Yeezy Gap x Balenciaga partnership is over.

In a statement to eh New York Times, Demna said that the partnership was just step #1 of Ye’s plan for the brand. “This was just step No. 1. He needed a starting point, and that was my challenge: to give him the starting point. But he is still miles and miles away from where he wants this to go,” Demna said.

Ye’s partnership with Gap is a part of his plan to make egalitarian clothing. Ever since his Adidas deal, and even as recent as his now legendary Drink Champs interview, Kanye has stated multiple times that he is against exclusivity and wants everybody who wants a pair of Yeezys or an article of his clothing to be able to have it.

In regards to how successful the Yeezy Gap partnership has been, Kanye took to Instagram where he revealed that he has set the two biggest sales days in Gap history with the release of the “Perfect Hoodie.”

“We’ve had 2 of the biggest sales day in Gap history since I’ve been there. We sold 14 million dollars worth of the perfect black hoodie at 80 dollars a hoodie off of a television commercial that was ran one time. I came to Gap to bring good quality products to the people at all times. Bob I need to meet with you as soon as possible,” Ye said on IG.

On this day in Hip Hop history in 1988, one of the culture’s most prolific duo’s Eric B. & Rakim released their sophomore LP Follow the Leader. Coming shortly after their game-changing debut Paid in Full, their second album showed that not only did the two find a formula of success but that they had yet to hit a ceiling. The refinement of both Rakim’s lyrical prowess and Eric B’s beat-making ability is evident in large part on this album. Follow the Leader had everything one could ask of an album from the Golden Era of Hip Hop.

Selling 500,000 within the year of its release, the album received gold certification as well as the #22 spot on the Billboard Pop Albums chart. Two of the four singles from the project, “Follow the Leader” and “Microphone Fiend” also made appearances on multiple Billboard music charts. Critically, this album received praise across the board being praised as more consistent and cohesive than the duo’s debut. Critics from numerous publications noted the growth of Eric B and Rakim as both rappers and pop icons. Although it may not have sold as many copies or made as much noise, Follow the Leader is in more ways than one a more polished project than Paid in Full and is in large part the reason for the duo’s longevity and status.

According to reports, U.S. health officials are considering declaring monkeypox a public health emergency.  With nearly three-thousand confirmed cases in 45 states, the Department of Health and Human Services is considering doing that, just like the World Health Organization did over the weekend.

Dr. Ashish Jha, the White House COVID response coordinator, says that could happen if the U.S. doesn’t get the virus under control with testing and vaccines.

While the virus is not connected to any deaths, the strain of monkeypox implicated in the current outbreak is tied to fever, lesions and severe pain that may last for weeks. In addition, vulnerable individuals, such as pregnant women, and children can have other complications.

As of today, New York is the epicenter of America’s outbreak with more than 900 cases. The virus is spread through physical contact. They recommend to wash clothes and fabrics that you purchase before wearing.
