“Till” Trailer Relives One Of The Most Tragic Moments In American History

Emmett Till

On August 28th, 1955, the unthinkable happened. Emmett Till, an amiable, innocuous 14-year-old black boy, was killed after being falsely accused of whistling at a female cashier named Carolyn Bryant. On July 25th, 2022, the first trailer for “Till,” a dramatized film based on his life, debuted online. Starring Danielle Deadwyler as Emmett’s mother, Mamie, […]

Meek Mill Says He’s Dropping 10 Mixtapes Without Major Label Support

Meek Mill has been quite forthcoming about his resentment towards the major label system in the past few months. The rapper revealed that he’s had issues with Atlantic Records, specifically with the lack of promotion surrounding Expensive Pain. However, it appears that in the coming weeks, he’ll go back to basics with the release of a slew of new mixtapes.

The rapper hit social media yesterday where he revealed that he has ten mixtapes in the cut that he’ll start rolling out individually beginning in September. Additionally, he’s preparing new music to drop on the anniversary of his father’s death next month. Meek’s upcoming projects will supposedly be released without major label support or traditional release dates.

“10 tapes independently starting September,” he tweeted. “New music dropping August 18 the day my dad died is when I start wylinnnnnnn again! I’m not dropping albums on Friday either!”

He elaborated further on Instagram, inviting sponsors and brands to “take the risk” with him. “Fuck it ima take the risk … a million behind every project! All sponsors connected to me or my brand tap in immediately I need y’all for this riskkkk ima take! #NOMAJORLABELVIBES.”

This shouldn’t be a big surprise to anyone whose followed Meek’s career over the past few weeks. He confirmed reports that he left Roc Nation management, though he made it clear there was no bad blood between himself and the company.

“All I seen today was meek and roc part ways …I’m personally handling my own business so I can take risk and grow ..we came to that agreement together..I have a label deal with roc for my artist and I got reform super tied with them and many other investments wit jigga,” he wrote.

Beyoncé Seemingly Confirms Trilogy On The Way

We’re a little less than 24 hours away from the release of Beyoncé’s first album in six years, Renaissance. Queen Bey unveiled the first single, “Break My Soul” earlier this summer, and it’s continued to have a stronghold on TikTok, DSPs, and radio. However, things took a turn yesterday after the album leaked. Download links began popping up on the timeline, while European fans were reportedly able to get their hands on physical copies two days before it was supposed to drop.

The leaked liner notes of Act 1: Renaissance reveals new information on Beyoncé’s plans for the future following rumors that she had two other projects on the way. In the thank you notes, she writes, “this three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still but also a time I found to be most creative.” Though there isn’t any confirmation on when the other two albums will drop, it looks like Beyoncé will be releasing a trilogy of albums in the near future.

Elsewhere in the liner notes, Beyoncé thanks her three children, Rumi, Sir, and Blue for “allowing me that space, creativity, and inspiration.” She also thanked her “beautiful husband and muse,” Jay-Z, “who held me down during those late nights in the studio.”

Check out the full thank you note below via Hip-Hop-N-More.

This three act project was recorded over three years during the pandemic. A time to be still, but also a time I found to be the most creative.

Creating this album allowed me a place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world. It allowed me to feel free and adventuous in a time when little else was moving. My intention was to create a safe place. A place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking. A place to scream. Release. Feel Freedom. It was a beautiful journey of exploration.

I want to give a special thank you to Rumi, Sir, and Blue for allowing me the space, creativity, and inspiration and a special thanks to my beautiful husband and muse, who held me down during those late nights in the studio. A big thank you to my Uncle Jonny. He was my godmother and thefirst person to expose me to a lot of the music and culture that serve as inspiration for this album. Thank you to all the pioneers who originate culture, to all of the fallen angels whose contributions have gone unrecognized for far too long.  This is a celebration for you. Thank you to my Parkwood crew, my slab, Dream, and all of the talented producers involved. Mama, I luhhhh you. To my father, my O.G., my first teacher, you inspire me in every move that I make. I love you.

To all my fans, I hope you find joy in this music. I hop it inspires you to release the wiggle, ha! And to feel as unique, strong, and sexy as you are.

Love y’all deep,

B.

Are we getting ready to see Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor in the ring again? Multiple reports state a rematch between the two is on the way, punctuated by McGregor sharing a social media post online stating, “I accept.”

Mayweather fought McGregor in an official match to go 50-0. Not as fortunate, McGregor lost three of his last four UFC matches and broke his leg at UFC 264 against Dustin Poirier.

The Sun notes the match would be at 155, and McGregor accepted under the condition of the fight being an official competition with 10 rounds instead of 12.

And here is Dana White’s opinion on getting involved in the fight:

Cara Delevingne Talks Her Controversial Night With Megan Thee Stallion And Doja Cat At The Billboard Awards

Back in May, Cara Delevingne stole the show at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, whether she was taking not-so-great photos of Doja Cat or having enthusiastic interactions with Megan Thee Stallion, which led to accusations of her “fetishizing Black women” and just being a bit too much. Now, Delevingne has spoken about that fateful night on The Tonight Show.

During an interview yesterday, Jimmy Fallon showed a photo of the Only Murders In The Building actor holding the train of Megan’s dress on the BBMAs red carpet and asked for the story there. Delevingne noted Megan invited her to join her at the show and help her memorize an acceptance speech, but Delevingne didn’t think she’d end up being a noticeable part of the proceedings. On the red carpet, Delevingne noticed Megan struggling with her train, so she helped out by moving it around for her.

She then spoke about that aforementioned Doja photo (not directly but seemingly so based on context), saying, “I walked in and I had a seat in the front row. I’m like, ‘I’m not meant to be here.’ So I was like, ‘Hi!’ And then I was getting on the floor, taking pictures. That’s what what I do because I’m like, I don’t know, I was just really excited. I was like, ‘Let me get my angle, guys, I’m a photographer!’”

She added, “I was living my best life, but people found it a bit odd, which… people find me odd, but that’s me. No shame!”

Check out the interview above.

Megan Thee Stallion is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

“Javorious, no way they took you from me like this. I’m sick to my stomach, they wanted this… they wanted to see you like this bro,” Janell wrote alongside photos and videos of herself and her brother.

“I’m so sorry. I love you so much!!! Sister is so hurt. I literally watched you grow from the ground up [with] this rapping shit! You [were] the goat in my eyes, especially from where we come from baby I’m so sorry!!!!! Jay you literally hurt us with this shit!!! Dawg this cannot be life!!! Prior to police confirmation, Janell slammed media outlets for publishing news that he was dead. Though she didn’t deny that there was a shooting, she called the claims that JayDaYoungan passed away “cap.”

JayDaYoungan released his debut studio album, 23 Island in 2020 under Atlantic Records. This year, he released two new projects, Scarred EP and All Is Well EP, which arrived in March.
