Elon Musk & Twitter’s Legal Battle Will Go To Trial By October, Judge Rules

Twitter’s legal battle with Elon Musk is off to a strong start in the social media company’s favour, CBC reports. Earlier today (July 19) the Delaware Court of Chancery declared that the impending trial will take place by October, despite the billionaire and his legal team’s attempt to have it pushed until 2023.

Presiding Judge Kathaleen St. Jude McCormick shared the ruling, noting that the 10th month of this year would be “the latest” we’ll see things unfold.

Initially, Twitter requested that the trial begin as soon as September with no more than four days to argue. Musk’s lawyers, on the other hand,  pushed for February or even later, also asking for the court to grant each side a number of weeks to present their cases; it was argued that an expedited trial wouldn’t allow for the truth of the “spam bot issue” on Twitter to truly be discussed.

Ultimately, though, Judge McCormick decided that only five days will be needed for arguments – a timeframe much closer to the one that the app asked for.

As you likely already know, Twitter and Musk are going to court over their $44B deal in which the Tesla CEO was set to become the new owner of the platform, though he eventually lost interest.

The father of 10 shared that he walked away due to the seller’s failure to provide accurate information about fake account statistics, also claiming that they “breached obligations under the deal by firing top managers and laying off a significant number of employees.”

For their part, Twitter believes that Musk has acted insincerely from the start, and may have even only shown interest in the massive purchase as part of a publicity stunt. “It’s attempted sabotage. He’s doing his best to run Twitter down,” attorney William Savitt informed the judge.

The 51-year-old’s lawyer, Andrew Rossman, says these claims are “preposterous” as his client is the second largest shareholder, meaning he owns even more than the company’s board does. “He has no interest in damaging the company,” Rossman confirmed.

When forming their original deal, both Musk and Twitter agreed to pay a $1B breaker fee to the other should anyone decide to pull out, but that seems irrelevant now as they’re suing one another for far more than that.

As CBC notes, Twitter’s request for a quick trial has to do with the company’s stock price, which is being impacted by the uncertainty and messiness of the deal.

“The reality is, delay threatens irreparable harm to the sellers,” the judge said; tap back in with HNHH later for any updates.

Lizzo Discusses Messaging With Rihanna: “It’s All Play With Me”

Lizzo says that she occasionally will playfully DM with Rihanna, referring to her as “Mommihanna.” The Special singer discussed her interactions with Rihanna during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.

Taking a call from a fan, Lizzo was asked if they could ever expect a collaboration with Rihanna.

“Okay, did the army send you?” Lizzo replied. “Rihanna was like, ‘Yeah, I’ll be a Lizzbian for a day.’”

She went on to say that she and Rihanna will playfully flirt and occasionally even talk about sex; however, this has stopped since Rihanna and A$AP Rocky have been together.

Lizzo added: “We don’t talk about sex a lot, but we’re just always giving it to each other. We don’t talk about work, it’s all play with me. But not since she’s been, you know, mommy. ‘Mommihanna.’ So congratulations to her and ASAP Rocky.”

While not naming names, Lizzo added that many high-profile celebrities have slid into her DMs over the years.

“You know, they’ll always be like, ‘Man, you playin’.’ ‘Hey, what’s up, Lizzo?’ Like, I always see that, and I see their name. I’ll be like, ‘Not today,’” she explained.

The interview with Andy Cohen comes just days after the release of Lizzo’s long-awaited fourth studio album, Special. She will be embarking on a full arena tour in support of the album this fall.

Joe Rogan Under Fire For Encouraging Comments About Shooting Homeless People

The latest topic that’s landed podcast host Joe Rogan in a pool of hot water? His controversial comments on homeless people.

During the July 14th episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, the 54-year-old sat down with comedian Tom Segura for a rousing three-hour discussion during which they touched on everything from Canada’s Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, who was described as a “dictator,” to the former U.S. President Donald Trump, who the host accused of being on Adderall during his time in office.

Those remarks have also caused a stir online, but it was what Segura and Rogan said about the community of people who are houseless in Los Angeles that has really rubbed social media users the wrong way.

“When you see stuff like that on the streets, at least in Los Angeles or California, that’s protected property. Like by law. That’s that person’s property by law,” the Instant Family actor explained.

Rogan responded, “Oh, a homeless person’s property is protected?” to which Segura said, “Absolutely. If you were to try to move that or take that –.”

The Fear Factor alum cut him off, saying, “You’d get arrested. Hilarious. But they wouldn’t arrest you if you shot somebody. Maybe you should just go shoot the homeless people.”

“I like your ideas,” Segura said. “And if nobody claims it… I mean, nobody does anything about violent crime in L.A. anymore.”

In response to the troubling conversation, several advocates have begun speaking out. “It’s repulsive,” Theo Henderson shared during a chat with Variety. “It’s infuriating because it’s not only out of touch, but the reality is that unhoused people are targeted by housed people.”

“To advocate trying to shoot at unhoused people or just giving these dog whistles to people that do not see unhoused people as human beings — I can’t believe you’d advocate for it.”

DJ Premier Claims Dr. Dre Once Blocked Him From Working With 50 Cent: ‘You Still Owe Me That Track’

DJ Premier is undoubtedly a legend in hip-hop who rose to fame as one-half of the rap duo Gang Starr in the early ’90s. Since then, Premier has worked with a plethora of artists that include The Game, J. Cole, Janet Jackson, Jay-Z, Joey Badass, Kanye West, The LOX, Ludacris, Mac Miller, Eminem, Nas, The Notorious B.I.G., and many many more. Another artist that Premier has worked with is 50 Cent, but that 2011 collaboration, “Shut Ur Bloodclot Mouth,” came years after 50’s peak in rap. During a recent interview on The Breakfast Club, Premier revealed that Dr. Dre is to blame for the collaboration with 50 taking so long to happen.

“This was when everybody wasn’t really messing with 50 to the fullest because he was having too much drama after doing ‘How To Rob,’ and me and Fif hit it off right away and clicked when I got on the phone with him,” Premier said after explaining plans to drop a solo album with 50 on its lead single. “He said he would do the record, and right when it’s about time to do the record, we get a call that Fif can’t do it.”

Premier continued, “I’m like, ‘Why not?’ and they like he’s about to sign to Eminem and Dr. Dre, and I’m like, ‘Noooo,’ because we already committed to us and I talked to Dre and Dre was like ‘Preem, I love you, but he’s not doing any more recording until he does his debut album.” While Premier and 50 eventually got together for 2011’s “Shut Ur Bloodclot Mouth,” Premier still hasn’t forgotten about that initial denial. “I always tell 50, you still owe me that track,” Premier added.
