DMX’s “Know What I Am” Posthumous Single Reportedly A “Fake”

Earlier this weekend, a posthumous DMX single called “Know What I Am” was released, but according to HipHopDX, it’s allegedly a “fake.” The publication spoke with veteran A&R Matthew “M80” Markoff about the track and he shared that the vocals used “were never intended” to reach the public’s ears.

“XRay Records took vocals that were never intended to be released from The Redemption of the Beast sessions circa 2014,” he explained. “[Then they] repurposed the production to some ridiculous shit rock soundscape.”

Morrison added that label owner Brian Perrera “even had the nerve to give himself a writer’s credit on this feeble attempt to sway loyal DMX fans who would kill to have and hear some authorized quality posthumous DMX music at their disposal.”

Instead, what he feels listeners are actually getting is “trash wrapped inside shit topped with a nice ‘f*ck you’ bow on top so these assholes can make a few dollars while the family and estate of DMX see no fruitful gain.”

“These are the same people (Cleopatra / XRay Records) who pushed a fake DMX track with Bootsy Collins and fake ass DMX Greatest Hits album to confuse fans from the real greatest hits released by Universal Music Group after X had unfortunately passed.”

Morrison told HipHopDX that the behaviour “makes [him] sick to [his] stomach.” Prior to the “Know What I Am” single, X’s estate delivered his posthumous Exodus project last May to much acclaim

Elsewhere in the news, Irv Gotti revealed that he’s on the hunt for “a new DMX” after listening to Drake’s Honestly, Nevermindread more about that here, and tap back in with HNHH later for more hip-hop news updates.

Russia Resumes Bombardment Of Ukranian Capital Kyiv For The First Time In Weeks

The Russian invasion of Ukraine continues to march on. While Biden has repeatedly said that the United States would not engage in a direct war with Russia, the US has been delivering billions of dollars in aid to Ukraine in order to bolster its defenses. This aid seems to have slowed Russia’s advance, but now it seems Russia is escalating the conflict once more.

According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Russia has resumed its attacks on Ukraine’s capital. In the early hours of Sunday morning, Russia struck at least two residential buildings in Kyiv, all while Russian troops consolidated their gains in the east of the country.

A member of the Ukrainian parliament, Oleksiy Goncharenko, said that “according to prelim data 14 missiles were launched against Kyiv region and Kyiv.” Members of the Associated Press watched as emergency services rescued civilians and attempted to put out fires. The mayor of the city said that one of the missile strikes had hit a nine-story apartment building, and that “there are people under the rubble.”

The details in regards to casualties remain murky. At first, Mayor Klitschko said that two people had been hospitalized. Later, however, Deputy Mayor Mykola Povoroznyk said that one person had been killed and at least six other people were wounded.

The attacks this morning mark the first bombardment of Kyiv by Russia since June 5. There have also been reported explosions in the Ukranian city of Cherkasy. No further details have been given, but an attack on the city would be the first since Russia’s initial invasion in February.

YK Osiris Tells Man Selling Candy To “Get A Job”

By now, everyone on the internet is aware of YK Osiris’ finances. The 23-year-old has been exposed on social media numerous times for failing to pay the debt owed to his celebrity friends. From artists like Drake to Lil Baby, the “Worth It” artist has taken out his fair share of loans. Nonetheless, he’s claimed to have paid everyone back, and now he’s urging other people to get a bigger bag themselves.

Earlier this month, the Florida native took to Instagram to encourage women to shy away from men who make them pay bills. “If you’re still paying for hair and nails– any bills– and you’ve got a man… goodnight,” he said as he ate his fruit.

After giving the ladies a little tip, he’s now trying to aid men in the financial department. Video footage captured the artist outside of an establishment surrounded by a group of people. In the clip, a man can be seen trying to sell him candy. Not amused by the young guy’s hustle, YK put on an irked expression before saying, “You need a job. You selling candy, man? How old [are you]?”

Seemingly unbothered, the seller told the rapper that he was 21 years of age. Before walking away, YK asked him what his hobbies included, to which he responded, “I like boxing… I like rapping.” Not satisfied with that answer, YK reiterated, “You’ve got to get you a job though, bruh. Get you a job.”

“I tried to do security, but they don’t be f*cking with me,” the man chuckled. Watch the entire clip below.

The Winklevoss Twins Laid Off Dozens Of Staff At Their Crypto Company, But That Hasn’t Stopped Them From Touring With Their Much-Mocked Cover Band

The cryptocurrency market is not doing so hot right now, with prices plummeting so low that people are once again remembering that notorious Matt Damon Super Bowl crypto ad. It’s gotten so bad that Gemini, the exchange company run by Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss — aka the Winklevii, made famous by their lawsuit against Mark Zuckerberg and portrayal in the film The Social Network — had to law off 10 percent of their staff. But that hasn’t stopped them from touring with their much-mocked cover band.

In a new report by The Daily Beast, current and former Gemini employees spilled the dirt on the company’s attempts to deal with the floundering crypto market, as well as multiple lawsuits. They’ve responded in two ways: with layoffs and by putting more weight on Mars Junction, their touring cover band in which they do renditions of “Don’t Stop Believin’” and The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Suck My Kiss.”

The twins have gone so far as to remove references to crypto from their Twitter bios and replaced a link to Gemini with one for Mars Junction, which is described on their Twitter bio as a “hard-hitting rock band.”

“They laid off 10 percent of their staff,” one former staffer told The Daily Beast, “and then they went on tour with their rock band.”

The Winklevii launched Gemini in 2014, in the early days of the cryptocurrency craze, when bitcoin was only worth a few hundred dollars. Today, one current employee describes it as a “sinking ship.” Meanwhile, Mars Junction spent Saturday night playing in Brooklyn.

Coi Leray & Lil Kim Show Support For Pride Month In New Thirst Traps

For years, June has been recognized as a month where members of the LGBTQ community are commemorated and uplifted across the nation. From parades to festivals, members and advocates gather to acknowledge everyone’s equal rights to love who they choose. This year, pride month has seen the faces of many celebrities who admire the group of bold men and women.

For example, Ray J admitted, publicly, that he thinks more straight men should support their gay friends. Artists like JT of the City Girls, Iggy Azaela, and Janelle Monáe have been promoting the month through their appearances. Now, two more female musicians are displaying their admiration for the LGBTQ+ community.

Lil Kim, one of hip-hop’s most influential women of all time, showed off her curves during the first day of the Pride Island event– which was held on Governors Island in New York Harbor. She wore a see-through tiger print bodysuit and a black corset– which made her chest the main attraction. She accessorized her outfit, in true Pride fashion, by sporting a long hairstyle equipped with rainbow highlights.

Not too far from her was Coi Leray. The 25-year-old rap star took to Instagram to show her six million followers how she represented pride. She wore a crop top that stopped right above the crease of her chest that read, “I went to pride and all I got was this gay a** shirt.” To complete the look, the “No More Parties” artist added a pair of rainbow string underwear.

Coi wore the outfit while performing at a Pride event in Houston, Texas. She also posted a video on IG of her experience, check it out below.
