Vince Staples’ Dream-Like ‘When Sparks Fly’ Video Depicts A Dangerous Love Affair

Only a few days ago, Vince Staples announced the premiere of a new visual project, Ramona Park Broke My Heart: The Musical, streaming performances from his new album live this week via Moment House. Now that the streams have passed, Vince is sharing snippets for fans in the form of music videos capturing his live performances. The first is “When Sparks Fly,” the standout from Ramona Park Broke My Heart that recounts a doomed love affair between a boy and his gun.

The video sees Vince sprawled on a bus stop bench in front of a flower shop, laying his head in the lap of a woman. Both remain motionless for the duration of the video, while the camera captures them from multiple angles and Vince raps the tragic romance of “When Sparks Fly,” which is told from the perspective of the gun. It’s the perfect antidote to the problem he noted earlier this year. “I think they see the money in the violence,” he said of record labels, decrying the glamorization of violence during an interview with Peter Rosenberg. “When Sparks Fly” depicts the consequences of a life lived on the edge and points out the cyclical nature of that violence, making it sound exactly as devastating as it really is.

During the live show, Vince also performed his entire new album, including “Magic!” and “Rose Street,” as well as tracks from across his catalog.

Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers’ Might Be A Double Album

For the past six months, rap fans have been forced to speculate about Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming final album under his Top Dawg Entertainment contract, with little concrete information about the project (other than its elaborate title) to go on. Today though, Kendrick dropped another cryptic clue about Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, suggesting that it might be a double album. Fans checking in on the website he set up to promote the album, oklama.com, found a new folder to click on, leading to an image of a pair of CDs marked “Morale” and “Steppers” bearing the legend “Master Copy” on each along with a hardcover book bearing the album’s title.

Anyone who’s burned a mix CD in their lifetime (so basically anyone born before the year 1996) knows that CDs contain around 74 minutes of space or around 21 tracks. Obviously, most CDs never used the full capacity, but to go over that time limit (or even inching too close to it) meant separating the songs across two discs. Now, I’m not saying that this means Kendrick’s next album is going to be the length of a Marvel movie, but we should probably expect a longer project. It’s also projected to pull down huge numbers — as befits Kung-Fu Kenny’s swan song for the label that has developed his career for the past decade and a half.

As Kendrick inches closer to its release date (the only other solid bit of information we have right now), more details will undoubtedly be revealed at oklama.com. Until then, the speculation continues.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is due on May 13 on TDE and Interscope.

Cardi B Shuts Down Billie Eilish Met Gala Drama Rumours: “Billie Is My F*cking Baby”

With so many large personalities in one room, there’s bound to be at least a little bit of drama at the Met Gala. Gossip floating around online seemed to suggest that this year’s issues took place between Cardi B and Billie Eilish, although both performers are shutting down those claims.

As you may have heard, the mother of two followed up her luxurious walk down the red carpet in Versace by hosting the Playboy afterparty at The Standard, where cameras caught her making sure that all of her guests were having a good night.

In a clip that was uploaded to @theneighborhoodtalk, Cardi can be heard speaking over the microphone as dozens of cameras shine their lights up at her. “Tonight we’re gonna have fun, make sure everybody’s got a drink, make sure everybody has another little,” she said, trailing off while running a finger under her nose, seemingly hinting at doing a line, which caused some of the crowd to erupt.

Another video shows Cardi in the center of the crowd while Eilish looks in from the outside. Some speculated that she was dissing Cardi and calling her “weird” while talking to the person beside her, but apparently, she was actually bothered by the people “shoving their phones” at the rapper.

Earlier this afternoon the Invasion of Privacy artist dropped off a screen recording of her recent DMs with the young star, shutting down rumours of any bad blood between them. “I hate the internet cause one, how do y’all turn one of the most lit parties into drama?” she wrote.

“Two, ‘Ocean Eyes’ is the song I cater to my daughter. Three, Billie is my f*cking baby. Yesterday, from the Met to the party, everything was drama-free. Why do y’all wanna turn everything into a mess?”

In her first voice note to Cardi, Eilish said, “Oh my God, I was so worried you were gonna see that – I was f*cking calling the people around you weird because everyone was coming up to you and shoving their phones into your ass! I was like, ‘Just look at her, with your eyes!'”

“The internet’s tryna divide us,” the 29-year-old joked. “They don’t understand that you’re my baby.”

Paul Walker’s Brother Warns Of Dangers Of Street Racing In New PSA

Cody Walker, brother of the late Fast and Furious star Paul Walker, stars in a new PSA warning of the dangers of street racing from the Orange County District Attorney’s office. Paul lost his life in 2013 from a single-vehicle collision while speeding.

“Like many of you, I too have lost somebody due to reckless driving,” Cody says in the video.

He continues: “I think a lot of the time when those of us that want to go fast, or we have something to prove, we don’t take into consideration the lives of those around us. It’s not just you that you’re putting in jeopardy it’s everybody else around you. So don’t be dumb, take it to the track. There’s somebody at home that loves you that’s expecting you to return. It’s not worth the risk, I promise.”

Paul passed away prior to finishing filming on Furious 7. After his death, Cody and their other brother, Caleb, filled in to complete the project. The platinum single, “See You Again,” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was commissioned for the film as a tribute.

Just last week, Paul’s Fast & Furious co-star, Tyrese, issued a statement on Instagram opening up about the struggle of losing Paul.

“I need more therapy I’m still not over losing my mom, Paul, John Singleton, and Lashawn Daniels. When people pass on? They just leave us all here to deal with it,” Tyrese captioned a photo of himself and Paul. “That’s really painful stuff pray for me y’all….. lately I’ve e been unraveling, painfully processing this all… This divorce has to end she has dragged this all out for a year and 8 months. I just want peace and to be left alone.”

Juicy J Dubs Himself “James Harden’s Stunt Double” After Sharing New Single

Juicy J seldom takes off his signature sunglasses, but when he does, the Memphis native just may be mistaken for James Harden. Earlier today (May 3rd) the 47-year-old dropped off his new single in collaboration with Duke Deuce, “Step Back,” which finds the two recording artists paying homage to some of the most popular NBA players.

“Swish, hide yo’ ho, we take yo’ bitch (Step back) / You know I’m high as hell like J. R. Smith (Step back) / Walkin’ on the money, it’s a money carpet (Step back) / Thirteen thousand (Yes sir), James Harden,” Juicy raps on the chorus.

For the accompanying music video, the “Bandz A Make Her Dance” hitmaker threw on a jersey and some track shorts to truly embody Harden’s energy, impersonating the Philadelphia 76ers athlete while getting his bars off alongside Deuce for the camera.

Juicy J gave fans a closer look at his outfit on Twitter, sharing a photo that finds him threateningly staring into the camera while seated on a chair, a black basketball in his hand. “I could be James Harden’s stunt double,” he wrote.

“Do I look like James Harden or no?” he asked in a separate upload that found him giving the cameraman the same aggressive glare as before.

While some are saying that the resemblance is uncanny, others think that Juicy J is “too skinny” to compare to the NBA player – check out more reactions below, and share your thoughts down in the comment section.
