Will Smith Gets Emotional While Accepting SAG Award For “King Richard”

Will Smith got emotional during his acceptance speech after winning Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor at the SAG Awards for his role in King Richard. Smith reflected on his growth over the course of his career as well as his relationship with fellow actor Denzel Washington.

“I’m here tonight with Saniyya [Sidney] and Demi [Singleton], the girls who play Venus and Serena, and Aunjanue Ellis, and Venus is here with her sister Isha, who’s an executive producer,” Smith told the audience. “It’s all of these, all of these Black women that I get to protect and shine a light on, you know, across the generations.”

Washington was also nominated for his role in The Tragedy of Macbeth. When Smith was announced as the winner, Washington jumped up from his seat in excitement.

“Me and Denzel have had some moments over the past 15 years. He’s always been a mentor for me, and he’s seen a whole lot of iterations of Will Smith,” Smith explained. “Like, Denzel’s always one of my first calls when stuff’s not going right. He’s given me critical advice at really critical moments.”

“[Tonight], he just hugged me and said, ‘This is your year,’ and he said, ‘I’m so proud of the man you’ve become,’” Smith added. “He grabbed a weight off of [my] shoulders and said, ‘You got it.’”

Dame Dash Reflects On Kanye West’s Meteoric Rise: “I Didn’t Expect It”

Dame Dash reflected on the legendary career of Kanye West during a recent interview with Fox Sports’ Club Shay Shay and host Shannon Sharpe. Dash says that he “never expected” West to reach the level of celebrity that he has back when they first met.

“No, I never expected that in a billion years … I didn’t expect it,” Dash admitted. “I expected other people that were in my crew to be Kanye. I expected someone to do those things, but I didn’t know it would be him. But the reason why it was him is because he had the most respect for me. He’s the only one that listened completely. And still does – on certain levels.”

Dash, who recently labeled West the “new Michael Jackson,” helped bring the Donda 2 rapper over to Roc-a-Fella, early in his career.

Later in his interview with Sharpe, Dash discussed how West’s impact on the fashion industry with his Yeezy brand helped expand his legacy.

“(Michael) Jordan didn’t make music. Jordan was known for playing good basketball. Kanye is known for something completely different,” Dash explained. “If Michael Jackson had sneakers, and they were designed well, he would have made more money than Michael Jordan.”

50 Cent Drops 6 Figures On Wine Bottle At Houston Rodeo Wine Auction

50 Cent is a New Yorker at heart but last year, he announced that he was relocating to Houston, TX. The memes began to circulate while Fif embraced his title as an honorary Texan, especially as he surrounded himself with some big money folk.

Fif recently made his way to the Houston Rodeo Wine Auction where he shook hands, did some major bidding, won big, and also managed to find himself in a bit of trouble. The rapper shared a photo of himself next to a bronze statue of the world’s first registered quarter horse. While he expressed that he had a great time, he explained that it was also a humbling moment as he was surrounded by people with “a lot of money.”

Still, 50 put his money where his mouth is while bidding at the wine auction. The rapper revealed that he copped a bottle of wine during the auction that costs more than a Rolls Royce. ABC 13 reports that Fif spent $125K after winning a bid on a bottle of 2017 red wine from Hye Meadow Winery.

“so i finally won a bid at the wine auction, your a nobody till you win a bid at the wine auction. now i have bottle of wine that cost more then a Rolls Royce,” he wrote alongside a photo of himself with his bidding card.

Despite recently appearing on the Super Bowl halftime stage with Dr. Dre and other revered artists, he apparently found himself getting pressed by individuals who work for the auction to make sure he paid for the bottle.

“so these where the 2 guys they sent over to make sure i paid for it,” he wrote. “i was like what’s wrong with you guys, i can’t change my mind.”

Young Thug Calls On Other Rappers To Help African Students Get Out Of Ukraine After Racism At Border

Young Thug 100 acres

Over the last week, many Ukrainians have fled their country after Russian President Vladimir Putin began a invasion of Ukraine under the guise of a “peacekeeping operation.” You would think that in a crisis like this, people would be decent human beings. Think again.

Over the weekend, video surfaced of African students being denied passage on a train taking citizens out of the country.

The videos spread across social media, and has prompted Young Thug, even though is thousands of miles away from the situation, to do something about it.

The Atlanta artist took to his Instagram Stories where he called upon his fellow rappers to help the thousands of African students get out of the country.

“If some of my rap brothers are in I’m willing to help Africans get out of Ukraine however I can sense they not letting us pass” Thug posted on his IG story. “Who ever holds the info for these movements please contact me ASAP I’m ready.”

Many students that are stranded in Ukraine have taken to social media to let the world know the racism that they are facing as they are trying to leave the country.

One student tweeted how the police threatened to shoot them and refused to let Africans cross into Poland and are allowing only Ukranians to pass.

“Watch how they are threatening to shoot us! We are currently at the Ukraine-Poland border. Their Police and Army refused to let Africans cross they only allow Ukrainian. Some have slept here for 2 days under this scorching cold weather, while many have gone back to Lviv.”
