Artists Share Reactions To The 2021 Year-End Spotify Wrapped Lists

If you’ve been on social media today, you’re probably well aware that Spotify unveiled the annual Spotify Wrapped feature today, where music fans see lists of the songs, artists, genres, and more that they most engaged with on the streaming platform over the past year. While it’s an opportunity for fans to look back on 2021, it’s also a neat chance for artists to see just how music their work was appreciated. So, as Wrapped started making the rounds today, artists shared their reactions.

Bad Bunny’s reaction wasn’t on social media, but in real life. As he was told in-person that he was the year’s most-streamed artist worldwide, he was all smiles. He was asked what fans can look forward to in 2022 and he said, “The same! I don’t go into it to be the No. 1 most streamed artist. I just make music. I just enjoy my ‘work.’ I hope 2022 is going to be great.”

Lil Nas X also took time to answer a bunch of fans who reached out via social media to let him know that he made their lists.

A bunch of artists beyond the aforementioned shared their thoughts about Spotify Wrapped, so check out some other reactions below.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

DaBaby Reflects On The Deaths Of His Father & Brother

If you’re a fan of DaBaby’s music, you would know that he has a lot of love for his father, who passed way in 2019. For his sophomore album Kirk, named after he and his father’s legal last name, he made a photo of his father holding him as a baby the cover art.

The next year, 2020, DaBaby’s brother Glen Johnson took his own life at the age of 34.

Tragedies like these have shaped the mind state of DaBaby for the past few years. He let all of his emotions out early this morning (Dec. 1) o his Instagram story, first detailing how his father’s death impacted him as he was blowing up as an artist: “One month after I signed & dropped my debut album Baby On Baby in 2019, my lil brother hit me & told me my daddy was found dead in his crib. I was the hottest rapper in the world spending my entire breakthrough year hurting behind a fake ass smile, using my hustle to block out how f**ked uo I was bout my daddy dying unexpectedly.”

He explained how he powered through the pain and dedicated his music to his father: “I ran laps round n****s my first year in the game with all types of accolades that I was too numb to enjoy. I held it down & carried the last name as righteously as I could, dropping my 2nd album Kirk dedicated to my daddy later that year. ‘Til this day I still don’t know what happened. Or how my daddy died.”

DaBaby continued to discuss how his popularity peaked in 2020, the same year his brother was the next to pass away: “June 2020 “Rockstar” went #1 on Billboard Hot 100 & stayed the number one song in the world for 7 weeks straight. November 3rd, 2020, my big brother committed suicide. I was the top streaming artists in the world at the time that I lost my big brother.”

He said it is hard to celebrate his achievements and success when he has been dealing with such tough realties: “2 & a half years in the game I done accomplished sh*t that n****s ain’t did who been in this sh*t 10 years+. Whole time I can’t feel NONE of it. ‘Til this day I get targeted, lied on & get my name dragged through the mud everyday for fame & money. 2 things everybody wants that I don’t even care about.”

It’s difficult to know what somebody is going through when you aren’t around to see their low moments. Hopefully DaBaby can continue to stay strong and surround himself with the support he needs.

Goran Dragic Reportedly Aiming To Team Up With Luka Doncic

Goran Dragic came to the Toronto Raptors this past summer as part of the sign and trade for Kyle Lowry. At the time, Dragic had made it clear that he had no interest in playing for the Raptors although eventually he sucked it up and played a few games for the franchise. Now, however, Dragic has stopped his campaign with the Raptors, and it has been made clear that he will no longer play any games for the team.

According to Ira Winderman of the Sun Sentinel, Dragic is actually looking to go to the Dallas Mavericks, who boast the talents of Luka Doncic. Dragic and Doncic are both Slovenian and it appears as though they have had talks about playing together. They would certainly make a great team and at 35 years old, Dragic would inject some maturity and leadership into the roster.

Per Winderman:

“The sense is Goran works his way toward his preferred (and most viable) option of the (Dallas) Mavericks, to close out the season alongside Slovenian compatriot Luka Doncic. But also understand, this is not the equivalent of John Wall insisting he play as a starter in Houston. Goran already has proven amenable to a bench role, something he thrived in with the Heat.”

It remains to be seen what will happen to Dragic, so stay tuned to HNHH as we will be sure to bring you all of the latest updates from the NBA world. In the meantime, let us know which team you think is the best fit for Dragic, moving forward.

Jeffrey Epstein Described As Donald Trump’s “Wingman” By Alleged Victim

As Ghislaine Maxwell heads to trial, more and more information regarding the life of Jeffrey Epstein and his relationship with controversial figures like former President Donald Trump has been coming to light. In a new report shared by The Daily Mail, Jill Harth, a celebrity make-up artist and former pageant organizer comes forward with some harrowing stories.

Harth, who claimed that Trump attempted to sexually assault and harass her several times over a five-year period in a 1997 lawsuit, is speaking for the first time on the “close friendship” between the disgraced politician and the late financier. “’They were both seducing women with their money. Trump really came off like he was hot stuff. They had no trouble,” she recalled.

The make-up artist explained that the alleged abusers were the “big cojones” amongst a group of rich and powerful men who disturbingly fixated over the pageant scene. “It was a game to them to catch the girl and see who they were going to hook up with. They were in competition with each other. They were both girl hounds.”

It’s been reported that Harth and Trump first crossed paths as she was running the American Dream Calendar Girl beauty competition with her former husband, George Houraney. The New York native was “keen” to get involved, offering himself up as a host and promising promotions being shown at his hotels and casinos worldwide.

Prior to Trump showing interest, Epstein was already visiting some of Harth’s smaller events, although she didn’t officially meet him until a dinner party in January of 1993, which the politican insisted she bring “all the calendar girls” to – Daily Mail notes that this is where Harth alleges her sexual assault took place.

According to the former pageant organizer, the two wealthy friends had much different styles when it came to women, with Trump being astutely obnoxious and Epstein laying low, mostly relying on his connections with ex-Victoria’s Secret head, Les Wexner. “I never heard Jeffrey in my world being aggressive. Trump was very pushy and a big foreboding guy. He was very overpowering. Jeffrey wasn’t like that, he wasn’t a flamboyant person, but very low-key and didn’t say much.”

“So it seemed like Jeffrey was like his wingman, but Jeffrey really used the Victoria’s Secret connection. That was his draw. And Donald would also brag, ‘’You know Jeffrey? My friend can get you in Victoria’s Secret.’ He did that with the girls.” Harth also mentioned that, while Epstein was alive and not incarcerated, the two lived just two blocks apart in New York.

“He’s playing it down now because, obviously, Epstein is now considered a pedophile and he doesn’t want to be spoken in the same category,” she told Daily Mail. “They always had women around them. I would even say to the point where the girls were clamoring for their attention. They weren’t all teenagers – I had some teenagers in the event, but they were mostly ages from 18 to 30. There were a few underage, I always had a problem with taking them, because I had to watch them like hawks.”
