Dr. Dre Will Play The 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show With Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, And Snoop Dogg

As the Super Bowl returns to Los Angeles in 2022, some of the city’s brightest stars (and few out-of-town friends) will join forces for a hometown blowout. Dr. Dre has been announced as the performer for the Super Bowl LVI Pepsi Halftime Show — and he’s bringing a squad of his best-known buddies along, including Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Mary J. Blige, and Snoop Dogg. So far, there’s no word on 50 Cent, but you can probably bet that where Dre and Em are, 50 is likely to come strolling out to the propulsive beat of “In Da Club.”

Securing Dr. Dre as halftime performer is a coup for the NFL, which has caught flak in the past over its musical choices. There were even some grumbles about the 2021 selection of The Weeknd despite his near-universal popularity and the incredible show he eventually put on. Two years before, the NFL was criticized for not including iconic Atlanta performers rather than Maroon 5, so it’s nice that the NFL is acknowledging that Dr. Dre basically is LA. It’s also incredible that he’s doing the show just a year after suffering a brain aneurysm.

Pepsi apparently knew as much, as Todd Kaplan, VP of Marketing, said in the press release. “Artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were at the forefront of the West Coast hip hop revolution, so to be able to bring them back to LA, where it all began alongside Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will prove to be an epic, unforgettable celebration of the impact hip-hop has today,” he said. “The Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show has become a landmark cultural moment, bringing about some of the most iconic performances over the years – from JLo and Shakira to Lady Gaga to The Weeknd – and we are thrilled to bring together such an incredible array of talented, record-breaking musicians to put on a performance for the ages.”

Super Bowl LVI will take place on February 13, 2022 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.

Mahalia & AJ Tracey Link Up On “Roadside”

After dropping Whenever You’re Ready earlier this year, Mahalia is back with a vengeance, linking up with fellow U.K. star AJ Tracey for a spicy breakup smash called “Roadside.”

Assisted by visuals which start with some nice text messages and end with Mahalia ruining a car with a baseball bat, Mahalia combines a smooth flow with powerful vocals and sitting atop the same whip for his entire verse, Tracey slides through in the all-green Palm Angels sweat suit and kills his verse, rapping about his affinity for the woman that is so clearly mad at him.

The perfect song to get your groove back after a tough breakup, “Roadside” is a bouncy but poignant record that is sure to get you in your bag, but also might have you texting somebody you shouldn’t.

Quotable Lyrics
I’m impressive from the bedroom to my salary
Let me hit, I’ll make your eyes water like analogy (On God)
I love her temper, temperature of an amber (Ooh)
You hustle like you mean it, December until December (Facts)
I know your love’s exclusive, I’m lookin’ to be a member

Remastered “Grand Theft Auto” Trilogy Gets New Update

During the early 2000s, Rockstar Games came out with three classic video games in a span of just three years. Those games were Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. These games were ahead of their time thanks to expansive maps, open worlds, and sandbox-style gameplay. Fans immediately fell in love with these titles and the various protagonists that came along for the ride.

Since that time, we have continued to receive incredible GTA titles although fans are still nostalgic for the games that made their childhood. Luckily, there have been various rumors that all three of the aforementioned titles will be getting remastered versions this Fall. According to Kotaku, Rockstar continues to avoid the subject, however, Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee has confirmed the existence of an upcoming GTA release called “Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition.”

It is also being said that the trilogy will come to every single console including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC, and even Stadia. The release date has been set for close to October and November, although, once again, Rockstar has yet to confirm any of this information.

Regardless, this is a very exciting prospect for gamers, and we can’t help but be excited to potentially get our hands on a remastered version of some of the best games ever released.

Boosie Says He Left Mo3 Cameo In “My Struggle” To Honor The Late Rapper

Since dropping his new movie My Struggle last Friday, Boosie Badazz has been on one.

After letting everyone know Soulja Boy was the first rapper to buy the movie and begging Drake to promote My Struggle in Canada, Boosie was stripped of yet another Instagram account, called his latest suspension an act of racism and invoked Martin Luther King Jr. in saying that the legendary civil rights leader would be “pissed off” about people pirating the film.

Both T.I. and Bill Cosby have shown Boosie love, however, and according to the “Wipe Me Down” rapper, he pocketed nearly a million dollars on My Struggle‘s release date.

Sitting down to speak with his favorite YouTube channel, VladTV, Boosie has touched on just about everything having to do with his movie and most recently, we got to hear this Baton Rouge rapper’s thoughts on a couple characters seen in My Struggle.

Explaining a little bit about the casting decisions made in choosing the actors to play Pimp C and C-Murder, Boosie got a little emotional in talking about the film’s cameo from Mo3, who was chased and gunned down on a Dallas freeway last November.

“It kinda really hit me with Mo3, especially my first time watching it. I saw the film a month before everybody,” Boosie told Vlad. “It kinda hit me because I was like ‘damn, I don’t really want to put this scene out’ but that was the scene he had.”

Going on to ensure fans that Mo3 would have wanted his cameo left in the movie, Boosie took his time finding the words to describe why he ultimately came to that decision.

“I feel like I had a good relationship with his momma, and his people, so I went through with it. At first I was like ‘man I want to do that scene over’ but I know Mo3. Mo3 would said ‘n**** you better put me on that’ … I know what he would have said so I kept it in there,” he finished.

Boosie also touched on YFN Lucci and Quando Rondo’s cameos in My Struggle and as always, made sure to promote the film throughout.

Check out Boosie’s interview with VladTV below and let us know in the comments what you think of the decision to keep Mo3 in his movie.

For one, there’s a vast collection of classic records and collaborations between the five legendary performers. And two, it all but guarantees that the majority of the artists involved will have delivered a new album before, during, or after the big show.

At the very least, Dre, Em, Kendrick, Snoop, and Mary are all believed to be delivering new music before the end of the year, with the latter two both confirmed for a November release. In Dre’s case, however, perhaps there are other plans in play. “I’m extremely excited to share the stage with my friends for the #PepsiHalftime Show,” writes Dre. “This will introduce the next saga of my career…Bigger and Better than Ever!!!”

If the Super Bowl performance is the catalyst for a new chapter, could the Doc plan to drop his anticipated new album that same night? His words certainly suggest the possibility. As for Kendrick and Em, both camps have already been teasing an autumn release, though nothing concrete has been confirmed. In any case, the lineup reveal is already starting to garner interest from social media, and it will be exciting to see how the collection of legendary artists approaches the setlist.

Speaking on the lineup, Pepsi Marketing VP had this to say: “Artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were at the forefront of the West Coast hip hop revolution, so to be able to bring them back to LA, where it all began alongside Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will prove to be an epic, unforgettable celebration of the impact hip hop has today.”

Paul Wall Talks “Hall of Fame Hustler” & The Importance of Grill Hygiene

Earlier this summer, Paul Wall and Bubba Sparx’s respective legacies were called into question after Twitter users debated whether the renowned white rappers would survive and succeed in the current Hip-Hop climate. Paul Wall addressed his critics by acknowledging the conversation with an open mind. Afterward, the Houston artist went back to doing what he does best, and several weeks later, he returned with his first album of 2021, an 11-track project titled Hall Of Fame Hustler.

In the wake of Hall Of Fame Hustler‘s release, Paul Wall recently chopped it up with Ebro Darden for Apple Music 1, and during his interview, he discussed his new album, the importance grill hygiene, and how rising artists should approach the music industry.

After quickly clarifying that he does indeed shower daily, Paul Wall discussed his love for underground Hip-Hop and offered details about Hall Of Fame Hustler, which was sequenced with the help of T Farris.

“I been releasing music non-stop, but I took a step back away from the mainstream, back to the underground where I love it, where I’m comfortable, where I fell In love with hip-hop, what gave me the passion to make music,” Paul Wall told Ebro. “What made me fall in love with all of this was listening and watching Lil’ Keke, Slim Thug, Z-Ro, watching them do they thing. So for me to be able to do that now, this is literally my dream come true.”

The Subculture artist then proceeded to offer some great advice to aspiring artists, especially those who look at music the music industry as a means of getting rich.

“A lot of people look at it like it’s a lick, like they just here to run they mouth and make some sales and do something and then they onto something else,” Paul Wall explained. “They don’t really treat it like it’s a profession, or treat it with the delicacy of like ‘It can all be gone like this (snaps fingers).'”

“You gotta know that going into it,” he continued, “because it can change who you are as an artist, and then you’ll forget who you are. Then, the fans who fell in love with you, especially if you came from the underground, gonna be like, ”Man, what is this new artist, this is not who we fell in love with.”

On a more comical note, Paul Wall also warns people against wearing grills without proper cleaning them.

“If you got bad hygiene, you going to have it with or without the grills,” he explained. “Gettin grills is not a replacement for brushing your teeth, using mouthwash, flossing multiple times a day. People would have their grills in, they’ll smoke with them, drink coffee with them, drink soda, drink alcohol with them, eat all kinda foods with them and never brush em, never brush they teeth.”

“Go for a few weeks, and then be like, ‘Yeah man, them grills got my breath stinking,'” the Houston legend continued. “Nah man, clean your teeth!”

Stephen A. Smith Explains What Concerns Him About Anthony Davis

Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the league when he’s healthy. Unfortunately, he has had his fair share of injuries over the last few years, and it has put a damper on his ability to play at the highest level possible. His injury status ultimately hurt the Lakers in the playoffs last year, and fans are hoping for him to bounce back in 2021 and 2022.

Recently, Russell Westbrook stated that his job this season would be to help Davis stay motivated all the way throughout the season. These comments were a bit surprising, as one would think AD doesn’t need any sort of extra motivation. Stephen A. Smith saw these comments and opened up about it on First Take as he expressed some concerns regarding the Lakers big man.

“You won the title, what were you doing in the offseason?” Smith asked. “At moments like this, as critical of LeBron James we can be from time to time, we need to take a step back and pay homage. This is why he’s on the Mount Rushmore. To the LeBron’s to the Kobes to the MJs or whatever. They’re the marquee. They’re the headline. And there is an innate and internal responsibility that they feel to answer the call. So it’s not just about my ability. It’s about making sure I’m in shape.”

Smith went on to say that he doesn’t understand why Davis won’t embody this mentality, especially when you consider how he plays with a guy like LeBron. Smith firmly believes this is a concerning trend that the Lakers need to keep tabs on.

Perhaps Smith is simply blowing these words out of proportion, especially since AD had made it clear that he is healthy heading into the season. Regardless, all eyes are on the Lakers right now and AD will need to be in the best shape possible if the team wants to make it far.
