Megan Thee Stallion Hit With Legal Threat By Megan’s Law Victim’s Father, Moniece Slaugher Takes A Victory Lap

Megan Thee Stallion is currently on a high following the release of her song “Hiss.” Although it has led to a feud with Nicki Minaj, Meg seems to be winning right now. The consensus is that her song is a lot better than “Big Foot.” Moreover, from a moral standpoint, it would appear as though Meg has the upper hand, and probably will for quite some time. However, that does not mean controversy has avoided her. Now, she is catching heat from Richard Kanka, the father of Megan Kanka who inspired “Megan’s Law.”

According to TMZ, Kanka feels as though the use of his daughter’s case in the song was simply offensive. One of his children brought the song to his attention, and he has been upset about it ever since. It is important to note that Kanka, a MAGA Republican, hates rap music. Based on this fact alone, it seems like his distaste for the lyrics may just be due to the source, and not the actual content. Regardless, he thinks he might be able to pursue legal action, although as TMZ notes, there is not much of a case there.

Moniece Slaughter Comments Again On Megan Thee Stallion Situation

When the song came out, Moniece Slaughter chimed in on the Megan’s Law mention and said the family should sue Meg. “Your wound is reopened because a b-tch used it as a bar in a diss track. Smh. I would take every red cent from those singles sales,” she said in a tweet-and-delete. Fans came after her for the take, however, she is now doing a victory lap after the news about Richard Kanka’s feelings about the song. “It’s called EMOTIONAL DAMAGES AND I SAID IT YESTERDAY NOW IM SCREAMING IT TODAY I TOLD YA’LL D*MMIES.” As one fan pointed out, Nicki should also be sued, in that case, as she rhymed “Megan’s Law” with “Megan Raw.”

No matter what, this is a very sensitive subject and it’s easy to see why people are upset. Regardless, Meg is doing her own thing, and in a few weeks from now, the controversy will have subsided. Let us know your thoughts on this situation, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for all of the latest news and updates from around the music world.

If you’re a fan of the original Ghostbusters movie, Sony and Columbia Pictures just dropped the new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, and the familiar faces in this one may be up your alley as it revs up to hit theaters this March.

As reported by Deadline, the new film is directed by Gil Kenan and penned by Kenan and Jason Reitman and shows the next generation of Spenglers, based on the descendants of the character played by the late Harold Ramis as they continue the good ol’ ghostbusting and paranormal investigation family business but wait, this time they will be teaming with the original Ghostbusters. That’s right, the gang is back – Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and even Annie Potts will be back in action. Apparently, they have created “a top-secret research lab to take busting ghosts to the next level.” Now “the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old join forces to save the world from a second Ice Age.”

All are coming back from the 2021 reboot Ghostbusters: Afterlife is Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, and Finn Wolfhard, alongside Patton Oswald, Kumail Nanjiani, and William Atherton back as baddie bureaucrat Walter Peck.

From Deadline: “In the continuing story of Egon Spengler’s kin –his daughter Callie (Carrie Coon) and two grandkids, Phoebe (Mckenna Grace) and Trever (Finn Wolfhard)– the hottest New York City on record is experiencing a “death chill” after an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force. It’s up to the Spenglers have to team up with the original Ghostbusters Peter Venkman (Bill Murray), Ray Stanz (Dan Aykroyd) and Winston Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson) to thaw the Big Apple out. Along for the ride is Patton Oswalt and Kumail Nanjiani with Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson returning.” Expect to see Celeste O’Connor, Logan Kim, and the original Ghostbuster’s quirky but sassy receptionist Annie Potts.

Writer from Ghostbusters: Afterlife Gil Kenan, who also executive produced the reboot, is hopping into the directing chair while Reitman is co-writer with Kenan. Reitman also serves as a producer with Jason Blumenfield. Expect Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire in theaters, thankfully, on March 29, 2024.

As exclusively first reported by Blavity’s Shadow and Act, BET+ just dropped the trailer for Kemba, a new upcoming film directed by Kelley Kali and starring Nesta Cooper, Michelle Hurd, Siddiq Saunderson, and Sean Patrick Thomas.

The true story and career of Kemba Smith, a criminal justice reform advocate inspires Kemba. The film is set to debut Feb. 22 on BET+

Here’s the official synopsis:

Based on the true story of Kemba Smith, “Kemba” follows the journey of a sheltered college student who falls in love with a man, only to find out he isn’t who he seems. When Kemba learns of her boyfriend Khalif’s true identity as a drug kingpin, he turns abusive—grooming straight-laced Kemba to overlook his illicit dealings. Though she never dealt or handled drugs, in a tragic turn of events, Kemba receives an outrageous sentence for her boyfriend’s crimes—placing her in the middle of the government’s “war on drugs.” Never losing hope, her parents, Gus and Odessa Smith, along with an attorney with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund launch a campaign for appeal and later clemency, harnessing the power of Black civic organizations, sororities, celebrities, and lawmakers to help free Kemba.

Christine Swanson penned the Kemba script. Producers include Rob Pfaltzgraff, Lana Link, and Stacey Parks. Nick Reid, Kemba Smith, Constance Orlando, and Maureen Guthman serve as executive producers.

Doja Cat’s Brother Served With Legal Papers Amid Allegations of Abuse

Doja Cat 5

Recording artist Doja Cat’s family drama continues to unfold as her brother, Raman Dlamini, has been served with legal paperwork related to a temporary restraining order filed by their mother, Deborah Sawyer. The legal action comes after Sawyer accused Raman of horrific acts of violence, causing her to seek protection for herself and her famous daughter.

According to documents obtained by Radar Online, Raman Dalithando Dlamini, 30, was formally served with the temporary restraining order by a deputy sheriff last week after multiple failed attempts to locate him. The paperwork is intended to keep him away from their mother, who alleges both physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her son.

Deborah Sawyer’s petition for the restraining order highlights the gravity of the situation, detailing instances of alleged physical and verbal abuse perpetrated by Raman. She sought protection not only for herself but also for her daughter, Doja Cat, a renowned recording artist in the music industry.

However, the judge overseeing the case only partially granted the temporary restraining order, citing “insufficient good cause shown” to extend protection to Doja Cat herself. The judge advised that if Doja wishes to seek protection from her brother, she should file for her own temporary restraining order.

The legal documents, filed on January 25 in the Los Angeles Superior Court, confirm that Raman was successfully served with the temporary restraining order related to his mother on January 23. A deputy sheriff located Doja’s older brother at his Studio City, CA, apartment early in the morning at 7:30 AM.
