It’s no secret that Eric B. & Rakim have left a lasting mark on hip-hop, and it looks like they could finally be honored for it in a big way. AllHipHop exclusively reports that the iconic duo is in the running for a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame. This also is their second time being nominated, the first being in 2012. Earlier today, Eric B.’s manager Louis “Uncle Louie” Gregory expressed excitement over the news on Twitter/X. “Just in @EricBandRakim are nominated for the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame! Representing @EricB is not just my job, it’s my honor!” he wrote.

Other hip-hop acts that have been inducted include Jay-Z, 2Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Run-DMC, Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five, Public Enemy, LL Cool J, and more. Just last year, Missy Elliot also became the first woman rapper to be inducted.

If inducted, it would be far from the first time Eric B. & Rakim were honored for their work, however. In November of last year, Nas gave Rakim his flowers in his speech at the Grandmaster Hip-Hop Awards, describing how he has inspired his own career. “When I first heard your music… If you had told me that I would be on stage saluting you… Like, this is cr*zy. This is a rapper’s dream. This is a hip-hop artist’s dream,” Nas explained.

“This don’t make no sense,” he also added. “It not regular, this don’t happen. This happen because it was supposed to happen. What you laid down, the foundation… When I first heard your music, they was doing a dance to your music in my neighborhood. Kanye West has dropped an eerie video for his “Vultures” song, which features Bump J and Lil Durk on the title track of his forthcoming collab album with Ty Dolla Sign.

Titled “Vultures (Havoc Version),” the visuals were created by Jon Rafman. Much like the title suggests, there are quite a bit of creepy scenes, including a clown staring out of a car window, a hand on fire, strange figures moving in the night, a Scream-inspired Ghostface holding a gun, and lots of other nightmare-inducing vibes.

As some of the comments pointed out, aspects of it also appear to be AI-generated. And if not, it has some very eerie movements from the characters who appear in the blurred video.

This release comes just after West also shared a video of his daughter, North, starring in a music video for her song, “Talking/Once Again.” He also took to Instagram to announce a listening event for Vultures that will take place in New York tomorrow, February 9 at UBS Arena. It will happen after the Chicago one, which is slated for tonight, just before Vultures Vol. 1 is released.

On the first day of March, Schoolboy Q will release his first new album in five years since 2019’s critically panned Crash Talk. The album is called Blue Lips and he announced it earlier this month. It’s the first release in what many are expecting to be a big year for his label Top Dawg Entertainment. Earlier this year a document leaked from the label claiming that nearly every single artist currently on their label and even a few new ones have music coming this year.

Schoolboy Q has taken primarily to YouTube to promote the album so far. It began earlier this week when he dropped two new tracks from the project each with their own videos. The songs are called “Blueslides” and “Back In Love” and present two very different sounds from Q. In addition to those tracks he’s also shared part one in a Vlog series.
