Nicki Minaj’s Fans Have Reportedly Been Harassing Her Husband’s Accuser Ahead Of His Trial

In June, Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty is due to stand trial on federal charges of failing to register as a sex offender upon moving from New York to California in 2019. Now, the victim of his original sexual assault case says she’s being harassed by both the family and fans of Nicki Minaj as they attempt to bully her into recanting the 26-year-old charges. In a lengthy story in The Daily Beast, the victim speaks out.

The charges stem from a 1995 incident when Petty and his victim were both 16; Petty was convicted of one count of attempted rape in the first degree, assault in the second degree, unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon. He served out his sentence — which included a 2006 charge of murder in the second degree that he pleaded down to manslaughter — receiving his release in 2013 and marrying Nicki in 2019. However, he surrendered to US Marshals in LA after a warrant was issued for failing to update his sex offender status after moving.

According to The Daily Beast’s profile the victim — referred to as Jennifer — a campaign of ongoing harassment from people claiming to be associated with the Pettys, from offers of hush money to thinly-veiled threats, prompting her to move no less than three times since Petty’s arrest last year. She says she even received a phone call from Nicki Minaj herself to discuss a non-disclosure agreement, disconnecting the phone number later after Jennifer seemed reluctant to accept the offer.

A man connected to both parties — referred to in the report as “Barry” — continued to reach out to Jennifer to recant her original statements from 1995, offering a $20,000 bribe to sign a letter recanting. The story was mirrored in a post on Facebook from Jennifer’s adult daughter Kenya, who declined to comment for the story. US Marshals eventually reached out to Jennifer after being tipped off by an online acquaintance that she was allegedly being intimidated by the Pettys.

Jennifer moved again after Kenya was approached at a club by another man claiming to be an acquaintance of her mother and Petty’s, making her feel threatened and convincing Jennifer that her daughter was unsafe with her. Others connected with Petty are noted as also making threats on social media, mostly via gossip accounts, which have also been inundated with angry comments from Nicki Minaj fans.

Lil Baby And EST Gee Brag About Their Riches In ‘Real As It Gets’

Lil Baby refuses to take a break after completing the rollout for My Turn, sharing the video for his latest single “Real As It Gets” featuring Louisville rapper EST Gee ahead of his All-Star weekend matchup with their mutual homeboy Jack Harlow. The video is a stripped-down affair, utilizing an empty parking lot, a crowd of people, a few luxury cars, and a whole lot of jewelry to highlight the two rappers’ boastful rhymes.

Despite being an absolute juggernaut through 2020 — even outselling Taylor Swift — Lil Baby has yet to take a break in 2021. Already he’s released a collaboration with Russ, another with collaboration with Lil Durk, and teased a potential joint album with the latter thanks to their working chemistry on songs like “3 Headed Goat.” This is in addition to starring in his first-ever Super Bowl commercial and plotting to open his own restaurant in Atlanta, proving he’s got even bigger plans for the future of his career.

Meanwhile, EST Gee is already looking like he’s about to have a similar year to Lil Baby’s 2018. After appearing on Jack Harlow’s That’s What They All Say single “Route 66” just days ago and now getting a similar co-sign from Lil Baby (who also appeared on Harlow’s debut album), the Kentuckian has been placed in prime position for a big breakout, provided he can capitalize on the additional looks.

LeBron James Shares New “Space Jam” Promotional Photos

When LeBron James went to the Los Angeles Lakers just a few seasons ago, it was pretty well an admission that he wanted to get into the Hollywood lifestyle. LeBron is someone who likes to divide his attention into various different ventures, and it always seemed like movies were something that he wanted to embark on. Eventually, it became public that LeBron James would be starring in a new Space Jam movie which pretty well confirmed all of our suspicions.

LeBron has done a whole lot of filming for the new movie and with the film coming out this summer, it’s understandable why LeBron would be so excited to share new promotional photos. Today, LeBron did just that as he took to Instagram with some new stills from the movie, all while showing a new Entertainment Weekly cover.

As you can see in the series of images above, LeBron can be found amongst some of the most famous Looney Tunes characters, including Tweety Bird, the Tazmanian Devil, and Lola Bunny. Based on the visual effects, there seems to be a ton of surreal elements, and it’s clear that the production value will be much different compared to the original which is fairly dated.

The movie is set for a July release, so stay tuned as we will be sure to bring you any updates related to the movie.

Lil Durk’s “The Voice” Eligible For Gold Status

Lil Durk is one of the game’s notable success stories, having recently built himself up to be one of hip-hop’s latest superstars. Though it’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment where the Chicago rapper’s fortunes began to shift, it’s clear that many have since embraced his latest studio album The Voice, netting Durk the highest-selling first week of his career. Now, only a few short months after its initial release, the project is already eligible to be certified gold by the RIAA.

Chart Data confirms that Durk’s The Voice has officially sold a grand total of five-hundred-thousand album-equivalent units, a milestone likely helped by the recent release of the Deluxe Edition. Released at the end of January, The Voice Deluxe featured an additional twelve tracks including the Lil Baby-assisted “Finesse Out The Gang Way,” as well as a collaboration with 1017 signee Pooh Shiesty “Should’ve Ducked.” At this rate, it’s easily one of the year’s best-selling bodies of work, and will likely hit platinum status before summer rolls around.

While it’s not the first Durk project to have hit gold eligibility, it may very well be his fastest. And what’s wild is the fact that Durk is only getting started. Lest we forget that he’s been sitting on a complete collaboration album with Metro BoominNo Auto Durk, which has the potential to be an even bigger release than its predecessor. All things considered, 2021 may very well end up the year of Lil Durk, should he retain this same pace on a consistent level. Congratulations to The Voice!

Raptors COVID-19 Outbreak Reportedly Caused By Bad Mask Etiquette

COVID-19 has been one of the hardest things to deal with over the past year. The pandemic continues to rage on and while the vaccine continues to be distributed all throughout the United States, there are still fears over new strains and some of the damage that has already been done as a result of the virus. The NBA has certainly dealt with its fair share of issues with the Coronavirus, especially when it comes to the Toronto Raptors, who recently had two games postponed.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, a large chunk of Raptors player tested positive for the virus, and it seems like a clear-cut reason is at fault. As Charania notes, the coaching staff has reportedly been exercising poor mask etiquette, which is what ultimately led to the outbreak.

The issue of wearing masks has been one that continues to be debated, despite the science that suggests it does, indeed, help. Coaches throughout the NBA and NFL have been wearing masks for months and this is a practice we doubt will come to an end anytime soon.

With the Raptors back on the court, it will be imperative that they get their mask-wearing together, moving forward. Not to mention, this is a fair warning to the rest of the league on what can happen if masks aren’t worn properly.

Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Namir Blade, & Solemn Brigham Snap On “Black Rock”

Mello Music Group has officially announced the release of their new compilation album Bushido. Due out for release on April 2nd, the stacked project is set to feature appearances from ApriQuelle Chris, Open Mike Eagle, Solemn Brigham, Oddisee, Homeboy Sandman, Zackey Force Funk, Skyzoo, Namir Blade, Oddisee, James Shahan, Joell Ortiz, Stalley, Dueling Experts, RJ Payne, Murs, Cambatta, Kool Keith, B-Real, and The Perceptionists.

Now, the first single “Black Rock,” featuring Joell Ortiz, Namir Blade, Stalley, and Solemn Brigham, has arrived in a flurry of bars. Over an ice-cold banger, Joell Ortiz whips up a relentless flow, stringing together words with precision as he raises the stakes with his opening verse. “That Brooklyn borough is thorough, over bitches Bengals they through bullets like Burrow, and put you in the ground like you burrowed,” he spits. “Then spin your block again just to make all that murder shit plural / I can’t believe I made it like sperm that’s supposed to be sterile.”

What follows are verses from Blade, Stalley, and Brigham, each of whom fleshes out the posse cut with distinctive style and well-honed lyricism. It’s clear that Mello Music Group values the art of penmanship, and expect Bushido to feature plenty more where that came from.

Will you be tuning in when the compilation lands on April 2nd?

QUOTABLE LYRICS

That Brooklyn borough is thorough
Over bitches Bengals they through bullets like Burrow
And put you in the ground like you burrowed
Then spin your block again just to make all that murder shit plural
I can’t believe I made it like sperm that’s supposed to be sterile

“SpongeBob SquarePants” Spinoff “The Patrick Star Show” Will Debut This Summer

As previously reported last summer, Patrick Star, one of the fan-favorite characters from Nickelodeon’s insanely successful cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants has been destined to receive his own spin-off for a while now, and today, the Viacom television channel has announced that it has officially given The Patrick Star Show the green light. According to Complex, The Patrick Star Show is set to premiere later this summer, and it will focus on a young Patrick as he lives with his family and proceeds to host his own makeshift TV show with the help of his loved ones.

The WandaVision-esque concept will mark the second SpongeBob SquarePants spinoff, following the recently debuted Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years. As expected Bill Fagerbakke, who has voiced the character of Patrick since 1999, is set to voice young Patrick over the series’ inaugural 13 episodes. Other voice actors appearing in The Patrick Star Show include Tom Wilson, Cree Summer, Jill Talley, and Dana Snyder.

One of the most significant critiques of Hollywood as of late is its tendency to focus too much on sequels, spin-offs, and reboots. Skeptics are likely to say the same thing about the SpongeBob SquarePants universe, but The Patrick Show will debut later this summer nevertheless.

Let’s Enjoy Some Of The Most Adorable Pets In The Music Industry

Lady Gaga recently had to endure a pet owner’s worst nightmare: Her dog walker was shot and two of her beloved dogs were kidnapped. Fortunately, in a matter of days, the dogs were recovered and everything was in its right place. Gaga offered a $500,000 reward for whoever brought the dogs back, which just goes to show how much some people care about their pets. That got us thinking about other famous artists and their four-legged friends who we see pop up from time to time on social media and whatnot.

We’ve rounded up a handful of my favorites below, but this is by no means a comprehensive list of celebrity pets, so our sincerest apologies if your preferred artist’s furry/scaly/otherwise textured friend isn’t included. Now, if you’re recently found yourself asking, ‘Who’s a good boy,’ you can find some answers to that question below.

Coco, Toulouse, Cinnamon, Strauss, Lafayette, Pignoli, Myron, Snape, Lily, and Piggy Smallz (owned by Ariana Grande)

Grande’s dogs make social media appearances pretty often, but fans may not realize just how many puppers she actually has: According to Ariana Grande Wiki (which is surely the authoritative source on such matters), she currently owns nine dogs. That’s enough for 5-on-5 basketball if they let Grande’s pig Piggy Smallz play. As if that wasn’t enough, Grande is also working on an animal rescue center in Los Angeles, which indicates that she is perhaps the best friend to animals in the biz.

Lavender (owned by Dylan Baldi of Cloud Nothings and Sadie Dupuis of Speedy Ortiz and Sad13)

Towards the end of last year, indie-rock power couple Baldi and Dupuis decided to adopt Lavender, a pitbull with atypical facial features. In a recent interview with MTV News, Baldi said of Lavender, “She’s a one-of-a-kind dog. People will just stop and be like, ‘Look at this dog,’ and want to be with this dog in a way like no other dog I’ve seen. It’s like having a rare Pokémon.” He doubled down on his admiration of the unique pet with a Twitter follow-up: “if we did a tour, charged $50 for tickets, and all that happened was this dog came out onstage and walked around for a bit? you would still feel like you spent $50 correctly. incredible dog.”

Trappy S. Goyard (owned by 2 Chainz)

Like other famous pets, Trappy S. Goyard (which is easily the best name on this list) has his own Instagram account. Goyard probably also has a SAG card by now based on all the appearances they’d made. In addition to popping up on 2 Chainz’s Most Expensivest, Goyard also co-starred in the “Grey Area” video from earlier this year, in which Goyard and their human swapped heads.

Calippo and Dorito (owned by Ed Sheeran)

Sheeran stayed mostly out of the public eye during 2020 as he decided to take a break. What he didn’t stop doing, though, was posting about his cats on their dedicated Instagram page, which boasts over 300,000 followers. Calippo and Dorito are doing well, although Dorito could apparently stand to lose a bit of weight: In October, Sheeran shared a photo of the cats accompanied by a note that reads, “Don’t feed the cats!!! Even if Dorito gives you ‘the eyes’… She has a bad tum… naughty puss…”

Shark (owned by Billie Eilish)

About a month ago, Eilish celebrated the first birthday of Shark, the rescue dog she adopted in April. She wrote in a now-unavailable Instagram post, “My sweet rescue baby boy was born a year ago today. You have made my life 1000x better happy birfday little shark.” While the two share a special bond, the journey to today wasn’t without (expensive) complications: In August, Eilish shared that Shark left some unwanted presents in and around some pricey sneakers.

Foe Thee Frenchie (owned by Megan Thee Stallion)

Not many pets win awards, but Megan Thee Stallion’s has: Foe Thee Frenchie (who has nearly half a million Instagram followers and is coming after Trappy S. Goyard’s best-name-of-this-feature crown) was Paper‘s Celebrity Pet Of The Year for 2019. Meg recently shared a progress pic showing off how much Foe has grown over the course of five months, and understandably, in the more recent photo, Meg has a hard time carrying her increasingly large pet.

Alf (owned by Hayley Williams)

Hayley Williams’ dog Alf has been an important figure in her life and has helped her through some difficult times. She told EW, “I got Alf when he was, like, 11 weeks old. I raised him, but I feel like he raised me. I was 23 or 24 when I got him. He keeps me present because he’s present all the time: He’s so happy and very in tune with me when I’ve gone through life-altering changes or moments.”

On “Cinnamon,” from the 2020 album Petals For Armor, Williams sings, “On the walls of my home / There are signs that I’m alone / I keep on every light / Talk to my dog, he don’t mind.” She explained that lyric to Pitchfork, saying, “He was my first therapist. And he’s still my favorite therapist.” Around this time last year, she also told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, “My dog is the reason I’m alive, because he would’ve been waiting on me to get home, no matter what. You know how little sweet little puppies sit and they wait? I couldn’t think about it.”

Georgia (owned by Tegan Quin of Tegan And Sara)

Dogs dominated Tegan And Sara’s “100x” video from 2016, and recently, Tegan got a pup of her own, named Georgia. Since then, she has documented the joys and struggles of raising a dog and there have been plenty of both. In November 2020, she tweeted, “Is there an umbrella for people who have a new puppy and have to take it out to pee 700 times a day and need both hands to pick up poo? *must cover human and dog.” While a lot of her Georgia tweets are scatological, there’s clearly a ton of love there and Georgia has essentially become Tegan’s everything. She tweeted in December, “All I dream about is my dog. She’s literally taken over every inch of my life including all dream real estate. It will make ZERO sense that she is in a dream situation, but inevitably she appears regardless. Is this normal?”

Kane Songz (owned by Trey Songz)

Trey Songz goes full method while running his dog’s Instagram account, which is presented entirely from the Frenchton’s perspective. On Father’s Day in 2018, for example, “Kane” posted a photo of him and his father playing basketball and “wrote,” “Happy Father’s day Pops!! Thanks for showing me how to break canine ankles out here in these streets!!” He even did what many others have failed to do when he saw John Cena one time.

Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button (owned by Taylor Swift)

Yes, of course Taylor Swift is on this list. After all, Swift has proven to be perhaps the biggest cat person out there (heck, she portrayed a literal cat person in Cats). Thousands of words could be written about Swift’s cats and her love for them, so for this space, let’s just focus on Benjamin Button, the latest addition to the Swift family. Swift actually decided to adopt the cat on the set of her “Me!” video and described how that came to be, saying on Instagram Live in 2019, “[A cat handler handed me this tiny cat and he just starts purring and […] he looks at me like, ‘You’re my mom, and we’re going to live together.’ I fell in love. I looked at Brendon [Urie] and he’s like, ‘You’re going to get the cat aren’t you?’”

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
