Freddie Gibbs Is Astounded To Learn That Diddy Has Restaurant In His House

Freddie Gibbs has been around the block in the music industry before blowing up on a greater level last year but that doesn’t mean he’s gotten used to the trappings of fame. While hanging out with Diddy at his home, Gibbs was amused at some of the house’s amenities. Posting a video to Twitter, Gibbs expressed his amazement that, among other things, the man formerly known as Puff Daddy has a full-fledged restaurant in his house.

While recording a selfie video, Gibbs gains Diddy’s attention, calling him a “fly-ass young n****” and prompting Diddy to show off a bottle of his Ciroc vodka and begin singing along to the Marvin Gaye song playing over the P.A. (It’s “I Want You,” by the way).

Freddie, who’s become one of hip-hop’s most celebrated artists over the past year thanks to his joint album with Alchemist, Alfredo, and its Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album, may be experiencing a new level of success, but clearly, he’s still humble enough to crack jokes at his own expense and use fake Instagrams to mock his rivals. His humility is one of the things that makes him so easy to root for — and his amazement at Diddy’s extravagance might just be the most relatable things he’s shared yet.

Freddie Gibbs is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Bobby Shmurda Shuts Down Relationship Rumors: “That Is Not Me”

Over the past 24 hours, Bobby Shmurda has been getting clowned on Twitter for his alleged new boo. After several photos and videos that featured the Brooklyn artist and a mysterious woman surfaced, fans were quick to deem Bobby and the unnamed woman, now known simply as Lilly, Hip-Hop’s newest couple. Shortly after the news spread on social media, however, fans started making fun of the “Hot N*gga” rapper and criticizing his choice of women, with some bothered by his decision to date a white woman and others simply amused by her looks.

The rumor that Bobby Shmurda had found romance with Lilly following his release from prison earlier this year now appears to false, as the rapper himself has come forward to quickly dispel any notion that links him with the gentlemen’s club dancer.

In a brief video clip posted by DJ Akademiks, Bobby addresses the situation and denies that he is romantically involved with Lilly. The video is zoomed into the rapper’s chest and flashy “SHMURDA” chain, so viewers can’t fully get into Bobby’s facial expressions. However, the video does clearly feature the Brooklyn artist’s voice.

“On gang, bro! I did not f*ck her, bro. That is not me, bro. That is the homeboy’s joint, bro,” Bobby Shmurda immediately clarifies as the video starts. “But that sh*t y’all saying tho, yall gotta chill with that sh*t, that social media bashing sh*t.”

“And they bashing her like that’s your girl,” another voice says, “but sh*t, n*ggas don’t even know.”

Bobby replies to the person’s comment, saying, “Even if it was or it wasn’t bruh, that sh*t ain’t cool. Anyways, on gang, that’s not even me.”

Once it’s clarified once and for all that Bobby and Lilly are not an item, the video takes a rather comical turn as the recently freed rapper jokes about how fans are trying to bother him and get him to “wild the f*ck out” on the internet.

“I’m tryna be nice, and I’m tryna stay as a nice guy. I’m on parole, but y’all want me to wild the f*ck out!” Bobby says. “But I ain’t gonna wild the f*ck out yo. Y’all gotta be careful about what y’all say on this ‘gram.”

With Bobby’s statement on the matter, the Hip-Hop community can officially leave the Bobby Shmurda x Lilly romance talk in the past. Stay tuned for more Bobby-related news as the Brooklyn artist is finally dropping music this month.

Trapboy Freddy Drops Off His “Trackstar” Remix

Clicking with the right audience on TikTok can certainly lead to viral fame. Just ask Mooski. The rapper’s single, “Trackstar” became a viral sensation with artists like Keyshia Cole and Coi Leray (who also was the female lead in the music video) shared their own dance videos on IG and other social platforms. However, the virality of the song also turned it into one of those records that everyone wants to hop on.

This week, Trapboy Freddy came through with a freestyle over Mooski’s hit record. With the cover art depicting Ricky’s death in Boyz N The Hood, Freddy mirrors the film’s theme in many ways as he details the vicious nature of the streets.

Sleepy Hallow Puts One In The Sky On “2055”

It looks like Brooklyn’s Sleepy Hallow is aiming to outwork his peers this year. The rapper’s coming with back-to-back hits, first releasing “2 Sauce” and now, arriving with his latest record, “2055.” The tone is set on the rapper’s melancholic anthem by bluesy guitar tones and heavy drums. Hallow shares his woes through monotone sing-rap delivery as he details loneliness and mistrust. Despite the gloomy tone to the single, the infectious hook makes it as anthemic as any of his more adrenaline-fueled records.

Sleepy is nearly a year removed from the release of his last project, Sleepy Hallow Presents: Sleepy For President which featured the single, “Deep End.” Following the release of the project, the rapper unveiled “Tip Toe” ft. Sheff G which reached nearly 6M views on YouTube since its August release.

Came from dirt, can’t go back
You can see it in my eyes

Rich The Kid Inks Deal With Rostrum Records

Rich The Kid has constantly preached about being a boss, even when he was signed under a major label. 2020 was a turning point, in that sense. He announced that he coughed up nearly $1M to buy himself out of his record contract following complaints about the “bloodsucking mothaf*ckas” in the music industry.

Per Billboard, the rapper’s taking his independent run to another level with his freshly signed deal with Rostrum Records, the label responsible for the careers of Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa. The multi-million dollar deal is in partnership with Rostrum Records and BMG. “I’m excited to work with Rostrum in this next chapter of life and music,” Rich The Kid said in a statement. “This is a partnership that will be vital to showing artists that they can be independent and still win on a mainstream level. With the help of Benjy, Jae, and the Rostrum team, we will take over the summer and everything after.”

Benjy Grinberg, founder and president of Rostrum, said the partnership deal with BMG will help usher in a new era of his career and cement him as “a leader in hip-hop.” “Rich The Kid is a key voice of this generation, and we’re very excited that he chose Rostrum as his new home,” he said. “We look forward to amplifying his artistic vision and supporting his entrepreneurial ambitions. This is the beginning of a new chapter for us at Rostrum as we continue to break barriers in the independent label landscape. “

Jay-Z, Nas, Diddy & More Endorse Ray McGuire For NYC Mayor

New York City’s mayoral race is underway with a few questionable candidates and even fewer who are qualified for the job. As the devastating effects of COVID-19 still run rampant throughout the city, the candidate to get elected will have a major task at hand. Naturally, some of the most recognizable voices in NYC have connected with Ray McGuire for a glowing endorsement for Mayor.

Jay-Z, Nas, and Diddy were among the hip-hop legends sitting at a virtual round table to endorse Ray McGuire, a former chairman for Citigroup who stepped down to run for mayor. In a video shared to McGuire’s YouTube page, the trifecta of NYC’s most influential cultural figures were joined by the likes of Angie Martinez and Steve Stoute. McGuire revealed that he knew Jay-Z, Diddy, and Nas for nearly 30 years before the Bad Boy founder explained how the mayoral hopeful has always been accessible to them, and the community at large.

Though Diddy, Stoute, nor Hov appeared interested in ever running for office themselves, Jay-Z recounted the moment he found out McGuire was running for mayor. “Recently, I was thinking about starting a fund and I reached out to Ray, and I was like, ‘Man, I want to start this fund for Black and Brown people. I would love for you to come and run the whole thing. Then, he told me about his plans for running for mayor,” he recalled. Angie pressed Hov for his reaction to which he said, “I was, like, ‘Man, there goes that.”

“I understood where he was coming from. By the way, it’s New York. I love New York, as well. It was just about how many people can we reach, and what’s more urgent right now,” he said.
