Joe Burrow & Bengals Flex Incredible New Jerseys

Over the last few decades, the Cincinnati Bengals have had their fair share of problems. They have struggled to win playoff games and these last few seasons have seen the team sink to the bottom of the NFL standings. Luckily, the team was able to get Joe Burrow last season, who proved to be quite good in the few games he did play. However, one thing that many fans noticed is the team’s jerseys, which aren’t very good compared to the rest of the league.

The franchise heard all of those comments and they decided to change things up this season as a way to give back to the fans, all while fixing the team’s image. Today, the team unveiled the jerseys on social media, and players like Burrow were front and center as part of the whole reveal.

In fact, the jerseys can be bought right now, so if you’re a Bengals fan, make sure to get yours now.

A$AP Rocky Enters The NFT Game

A$AP Rocky has always been one to embrace the experimental, a quality that has seeped into the creation of his music. One need only look to 2018’s divisive Testing, the last full-length project we’ve received from Rocky, to see his adventurous streak in action. This weekend, Rocky confirmed that he’ll be diving headfirst into the strange and fascinating world of NFTs — non-fungible tokens, a form of cryptocurrency that grants the rights to the exclusive ownership of a specific digital property.

Rocky teased the upcoming endeavor in a stylish teaser video — alongside the appropriate caption of “My Fir$t NFT” — which plays out as follows: “join A$AP Rocky as he releases his debut NFT collection on April 21st. Get your chance to buy some of his select pieces and a snippet of his unreleased song ‘Sandman.’ Every purchase gets raffled off to win one of the vehicles from the Injured Generation tour, or a studio visit to listen to the new album.”

The collection will be made available exclusively on Nifty Gateway’s website, precisely at 7 PM Est, April 21st. It remains unclear as to what the “select pieces” that Rocky is selling will be, nor is it exactly clear what one can do with ownership of a snippet. Still, it’s a new endeavor from the typically elusive Rocky, and it’s likely that many will be tuning in when the collection launches in a few days — if only for the chance to visit Rocky in the studio and catch a glimpse at his upcoming album, presumably titled All $miles.

It feels like an increasing number of artists are gravitating toward NFTs, with Rocky joining the likes of Curren$y, Jeezy, Quavo, Jack Harlow, Azealia Banks, and more. Do you think the NFT has a place in the hip-hop landscape moving forward?

DaniLeigh Sparks DaBaby Pregnancy Rumors With Latest Viral Video

DaniLeigh has been taking a social media hiatus for a few weeks, which became necessary for the artist to protect her mental health. The 26-year-old artist had previously shared a concerning message, stating that she didn’t “wanna be here no more” after getting called out by a Snowfall actor for her take on the show

In the midst of her latest controversies, fans have theorized that DaniLeigh could be pregnant with DaBaby’s child, which neither of the two artists has confirmed. The two had a short-lived relationship, which ended after Dani’s “Yellow Bone” drama. In early March, a video of Dani at a sneaker shop started circulating with fans assuming that she’s knocked up because of how she was walking, as well as an apparent bump in her belly. A new video of Dani at a chow-down with Timbaland and other industry folks is also going viral as people comment on the rapper’s looks, once again speculating that she could be pregnant.

In the video, Dani laughs and says she’s having a sample of everything on the food-filled table. Fans are already guessing that her appetite could be because she’s eating for two. People are also pointing out the bump in her shirt again, believing that she’s got DaBaby’s bun in her oven.

DaniLeigh has not addressed the recent batch of pregnancy rumors. We will keep you posted on her response. Check out what everyone is saying below.

Marvel’s First “Shang-Chi” Trailer Has Arrived

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is easily one of the most lucrative undertakings in film history, not to mention the most ambitious. Bringing a collection of Marvel superheroes into one shared space, the MCU has done justice to beloved icons while breathing renewed life into several fresh faces. And while many of the heavy-hitters have already seen representation, the upcoming fourth phase will launch several new heroes into the spotlight — starting with Shang-Chi.

Today, the first official trailer for the upcoming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings has arrived, ahead of its planned September 3rd release date. Featuring a heavy glimpse at what’s to come — albeit largely by way of action set pieces, as the plotline remains more or less under wraps — much of the focus centers around Simu Liu’s titular Shang-Chi and his stylish penchant for ass-kicking.

In addition to what appears to be a thorough deep dive into Shang-Chi’s mysterious origin story, producer Jonathan Schwarz spoke highly of the action scenes. “It’s the best action [Marvel has] ever done,” he says, as cited by IGN. “Every punch is meaningful, every fighting style is meaningful, and the story is told visually in such a great way.”

In addition to Simu Liu (who marks Marvel’s first lead of Asian descent), Shang-Chi also stars Tony Leung, Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Meng’er Zhang, Fala Chen, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng. The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretten. Check out the first official trailer below, and look for Shang-Chi and the Legend Of The Ten Rings to hit theatres on September 3rd.

Saweetie Reps For The Independent Women On ‘Pretty Summer Playlist: Vol. 1’

It’s been three years since Saweetie’s Icy regime began. Blowing up with her breakout hit “ICY GRL” and car raps in 2018, the slick talker born Diamonté Harper has stuck to her pretty girl code. As first heard on previous offerings, like 2018’s High Maintenance and 2019’s ICY, and sticky smashes like “Tap In” and “My Type,” the Bay Area rapper steps out of a public breakup and heads back to the streets — and booth — to do what she knows best: rapping about being fine and the finer things in life on her latest project Pretty Summer Playlist: Vol. 1.

Breakup aside, Saweetie has been the people’s champion all pandemic. While most of us Slacked, Zoomed, or Netflixed our way through quarantine, the Bay Area rapper took “working from home” to new levels. She stuck on her lengthiest press-on nails and swapped wigs and ‘fits to pose for glamorous pictorials on Instagram and magazine covers. From the studio, she served up the single ladies’ PSA “Back To The Streets” featuring Jhené Aiko, the TikTok-able BFF bop “Best Friend” alongside Doja Cat, and then hopped on the remix to Gwen Stefani’s spirited single “Slow Clap,” among other features.

Also adding to her resume during lockdown: a plethora of eye-popping visuals, cameos on Grown-ish, highly debated concoctions (a la ranch sauce on spaghetti), and three seasons of the quirky yet intimate YouTube reality series called “The Icy Life.” Like her Birkin bag vignettes, Saweetie is juggling multiple bags (checks from Quay and Tesla included) and paying it forward with new fire for her fans to heat up the summer.

On Pretty Summer Playlist: Vol. 1, Saweetie celebrates her singledom with a soundtrack made for sinning and spending. Setting off the pretty party is “Risky,” a collaboration with Drakeo the Ruler sure to activate the kind of shot contest that doesn’t involve a basketball. She also shares the spotlight with other women such as Bbyafricka on the latter’s kitty-loving single “Baby Mama Coochie” and Lourdiz on “Back Seat,” a sexy entry best paired with a string of purple grinning devil emojis.

On “Pretty & Rich,” Saweetie flips a manicured finger to the haters wishing for her downfall. And if curious minds were expecting a statement from Saweetie on her latest split, “See Saw” is the closest thing to it. As she and singer Kendra Jae trade lines about chucking the deuces to an old flame who fumbled the relationship, Saweetie spits: “How you figure, ain’t the woman that you thought?/ You was humpin’ thots / F*ckin’ narcissist, you just mad you got caught.” Oop.

No Saweetie project would be complete without nostalgia. As the subject of a trending topic or three, she’s drawn criticism on timelines for constantly rapping over throwback beats and dedicating bars to bagging fellas with eight figures, but that doesn’t stop her from reviving old favorites here. For “Talkin’ Bout,” she brings back Cali Swag District’s “Teach Me How To Dougie” for her take on Loui’s “Put Yo Back Into It.”

However, Saweetie also keeps her ear to the tweets and offers a direct response to the feedback on the final track and Freaknik-ready twerk-off anthem, “Sweat Check”: “I know y’all tired of me talkin’ about a rich n****,” she allows. “But you are who you f*ck and I’m a big spender.” There’s no need to enroll in her Icy University sessions online to recognize that Saweetie’s affirmations are a masterclass in owning the narrative.

While the formula for her songs feels familiar, Saweetie knows how to amplify her brand across algorithms. Pumping out thirst traps and signing business deals is just daily routine for the University of Southern California graduate, who has experience in balancing a heavy workload. The same goes for her catalog of ear candy. She knows her saweet spots and delivers fun in different flavors — and everyone wants a taste.

Pretty Summer Playlist: Vol. 1 is out now via ICY/Warner Records. Get it here.

Saweetie is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Nas’ “Illmatic” Turns 27 Today

When one is given the unenviable task of naming the greatest hip-hop album of all time, it’s not entirely uncommon to see Nas’ Illmatic named as one of the go-to picks. Originally released on this day, twenty-seven years ago in 1994, it’s fair to say that the rap landscape has shifted rather drastically. Even in Nas’ own home city of New York, where the current crop of rising stars is exploring the rising drill movement to great effect.

At the time of Illmatic’s release, however, the era was strictly golden in nature. Production, which was handled by names like Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Erick Sermon, RZA, Havoc, Large Professor, and more, featured heavy use of sampling. The aesthetic was, more often than not, rugged and raw — qualities that reflected the lifestyle and surroundings of the emcees. When Nas ultimately stepped up to deliver his own debut album, he was only twenty years old. Illmatic’s release was only two years removed from the death of Nas’ friend and collaborator Ill Will, who was murdered in a Queensbridge shooting.

Having lived through tragedy and experienced a rise on the competitive and cutthroat rap scene, Nas entered the game with wisdom beyond his years. His reflections remain poignant to this day, his penmanship a key element behind the album’s infinite replay value. In fact, Illmatic was recently inducted into the Library of Congress’ National Recording Registry, a testament to its role in shaping American musical culture as we know it.

Though Illmatic’s reputation casts a large shadow, occasionally shrouding some of Nas’ other excellent bodies of work from the spotlight, it remains impressive to see an album that remains so revered twenty-seven years removed from its release. In honor of the album’s birthday, consider sharing your favorite songs from Illmatic in the comments below. Congratulations, Nas — and many thanks for delivering a timeless project to the game.
