Rob $tone Reps His Team With “All Nine Innings”

While not quite ubiquitous to merit an entire subgenre — at least, not yet — we’ve certainly been seeing a notable increase in baseball bars. Big K.R.I.T recently delivered “Pick Up The Pace” in honor of MLB: The Show. StreetLife, Method Man, and Havoc’s “Squad Up” became the New York Yankees anthem for the second year in a row. Now, Rob $tone has held it down with “All Nine Innings,” a track that has earned the honor of becoming the official anthem of the San Diego Padres.

Musically, the song is a perfect victory vibe, driven by Richie Louie’s triumphant horns and some braggadocious bars from the former baseball player. “This song is special and was exciting for me to write because I really had to take myself back to when I played baseball as a kid to get the vibe!” reflects $tone, in an official statement. “Connecting with the San Diego Padres for this anthem is a dream come true for me. I’m just happy the organization and all of the fans love the record!”

Check it out yourself, a must not only for $tone fans, but for anyone who holds an appreciation for America’s pastime.

Shelley FKA DRAM Enables Summer Walker On New Song “All Pride Aside”

Shelley (FKA DRAM) has been teasing the release of his next studio album for weeks, announcing his rebrand and sharing music that’s more in tune with his personal taste. Recently, the multi-platinum “Broccoli” hitmaker has taken a slowed-down approach to his creativity, going back to the basics and showing his fanbase who he truly is. We witnessed glimpses of Shelley’s strengths on songs like “Cooking With Grease” and “Exposure.”

With his album coming soon, Shelley just came through with yet another single release, dropping “All Pride Aside” with his LVRN labelmate Summer Walker.

The new song comes following Shelley’s performance as part of NPR’s Tiny Desk concert series. The duet showcases Shelley’s chemistry with Summer Walker, as well as his artistic command over the soft beat.

Listen to “All Pride Aside” below and let us know what you think. His new album comes out at the end of this week.

Quotable Lyrics:

Girl, if I did this song with you, that means I enable you
I’d be forced to get along with you, ’cause I wanna be enabled too
And if you gave me all your love, that means you enable me
But baby girl, I’m far from done, so now I must return to free

Kanye West & Balenciaga Raise $1M For DMX’s Family With Tribute T-Shirt

Kanye West had a rather surprising role in this weekend’s home-going celebrations for DMX. Ahead of the memorial held at Barclays Center, Yeezy Brand and Balenciaga unveiled a tribute t-shirt that was commissioned by ‘Ye. It was released on Saturday while the memorial service began and quickly racked up nearly $1M in profit, sources close to ‘Ye told TMZ.  At $200 a shirt, the DMX t-shirt sold out in 24 hours and Balenciaga already said that the proceeds from the sales will go towards X’s family.

‘Ye’s involvement in the memorial service was deeper than the tribute t-shirt and Sunday Service Choir’s performance. As Swizz suggested on Saturday, Kanye West and the Yeezy tea designed the stage. Kanye enlisted Akeem Smith to help with the design which included an upside-down pyramid-like set. Images of X were displayed on screens surrounding both above and below the stage during the performances from Sunday Service.

X’s casket was driven to the Barclays Center on a Monster Truck with the Ruff Ryders appropriately riding behind. The funeral procession shut down traffic in New York City. NYPD said that road closures would begin at 12. Along with Kanye’s touch on the memorial service, Nas, Ruff Ryders including The LOX and Swizz Beatz, and X’s children all delivered speeches.

Benny The Butcher Recalls First Time Meeting DMX

It’s clear that the late legend DMX respected the Griselda movement, having officially enlisted the talents of Westside Gunn, Conway The Machine, and Benny The Butcher for his upcoming studio album. Now, that project will be a posthumous release, and hip-hop has been left in a continuous state of mourning ever since X passed away at the beginning of April.

Over the weekend, around the same time X’s casket was being taken on a final ride through his home city of New York, Benny The Butcher took to Instagram to reflect on his first time meeting the Ruff Ryder. You may recall last February, when a clip surfaced in which Benny, X, and Zoey Dollaz were vibing out to unreleased music in a parking lot. Evidently, there’s plenty of interesting backstory where that particular meeting is concerned.

“A couple months ago was my first time meeting X,” reflects The Butcher, sharing a picture of he and DMX from that same day. “He was pullin up but was takin forever and I had some important shit to do and a flight to catch. @therealnoreaga was like u gotta miss tht flight this X so I miss that one and whole other one waitin to meet the Dog my boy @zoeydollaz booked a third one for me and I caught tht it was worth it cuz we kicked it played his album & my shit in the Parkin lot for hours eatin caviar smokin and drinking ace and talkin our shit RIP DMX.”

Though the circumstances surrounding DMX’s new album have changed, many fans are still excited to see the project arrive, if only to spend a little more time with one of the greatest rappers to ever do it. In addition to Benny, Gunn, and Conway, X’s untitled project will feature appearances from Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Bono, Pop Smoke, Usher, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, and more.

Tyrese Shaves His Girlfriend’s Pubic Hair On Instagram

Certain things are just meant to be kept off of social media, and this is very much one of those things. While Tyrese Gibson and his girlfriend Zelie Timothy likely intended to show off their love for one another by sharing this video on social media, the strategy was just too cringe-worthy for the world to ignore how strange it all was.

Over the weekend, Tyrese and his girlfriend Zelie spent some quality time together… and we’re talking QUALITY time. On Zelie’s Instagram story, she posted a video of herself with her legs up in the air as Tyrese grabbed a razor and shaved her pubic hair. “I will never ever let go of my King,” she wrote on the video. “But does your man shave you though?”

During the clip, Tyrese unknowingly sticks his tongue out at parts and Zelie admits she had her mind on something else as she was getting shaved. She also clarified that she generally gets waxed down there but she won’t turn down her man when he wants to take care of the job. “I get sugar waxed guys LOL,” she explained after people started sending her messages about the video. “But I also have a man that loves to shave me. I don’t get any razor bumps. My coochie is okay LOL. Thanks for wondering if it’s ok.”

Of all the things we didn’t need to see this morning, this might be at the top of the list. Why do you think they posted this for the world to see? See what people are saying below.

Drake Links With UK’s Finest For Meeting Of The Bosses

Drake has been on the move this past weekend, having absolutely stacked his itinerary with notable link-ups. Between checking out a Coi Leray concert and bestowing his esteemed co-sign upon the young “Big Prrrd” artist, as well as joining forces with Dreamville lyricist J.I.D, it’s looking like the 6ix God has been campaigning ahead of his big Certified Lover Boy release.

In addition to the aforementioned, Drake also took a moment to hold it down for a veritable meeting of the bosses, connecting with some of the U.K’s finest for a luxurious dinner. “You know that’s the hideaway,” captions Drizzy, citing his “Slide” lyric “Find me somewhere out in London, you know that’s the hideaway.” And while he did tag the photo in Beverly Hills, London is certainly present and accounted for, represented by Giggs, Dave Santan, Not3s, and actor Damson Idris.

That’s not to imply that there will be a heavy U.K. presence on Drake’s upcoming Certified Lover Boy, but it certainly indicates that he has remained on solid terms with his friends and collaborators overseas. Fans surely remember several of Giggs’ standout performances on More Life, a project that drew heavy inspiration from the British rap scene. He also previously connected with Dave Santan on “Wanna Know,” a track that played a major role in bringing North American eyes to the talented young lyricist’s work.

Shelley Debuts A New Song In His Return To NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts

In his return to Tiny Desk Concerts, the newly rechristened and slimmed-down Shelley invites viewers into a softly-lit study for a simmering performance of songs from his upcoming album, Shelley FKA DRAM. Thanks to Tiny Desk’s “(At-Home)” designation, the Virginia native gets extra comfy, donning a set of food-patterned PJs that works just as well as an eye-popping suit, packing his band into the smaller confines, and delivering soulful renditions of songs like “Exposure,” “The Lay Down,” “Cooking With Grease,” and the debut of “Rich & Famous.”

The last time Shelley played Tiny Desk — way back in 2017 — he was promoting the lighthearted, melodic hip-hop debut album Big Baby DRAM. He makes note of the change during his return performance, reintroducing himself as Shelley — his government name — and calls the moment “a new beginning. Full circle.”

Shelley first showed glimpses of the shift in 2018 with his That’s A Girl’s Name EP, shifting to groovy but still swaggering R&B. Then, in 2019, he shared “The Lay Down” with HER (who’s now an Oscar and Grammy winner), presaging the new, grown-and-sexy direction he’s adopted for his next project, which releases April 29 in honor of his mom’s birthday.

Young Thug And Gunna Paid Bail For 30 Fulton County Jail Inmates

While riding high on the streaming success of their recently released compilation album Slime Language 2 and collaborative single “Ski,” Young Stoner Life Records rappers Gunna and Young Thug performed a little community service over the weekend, paying bond for 30 inmates of the Fulton County Jail according to Atlanta local news. The two Atlanta natives shared a video of former inmates being reunited with family members as they were released; most were being held on minor charges but didn’t have enough to post bond.

As Thug explained, “This is where we are from. We just woke up and went to the jail with the lawyer and DA’s and the prosecutors, the bonding companies, and just got as many people as we can out.” Gunna echoed, “You never know what somebody been through. There was people sitting out three or four years and couldn’t get out on a bond. If they did the crime, then they can do the time, then it’s all right. But it’s like you’re giving them a bond higher than what they stole.”

According to WSBTV, the jail was 400 inmates over its 2,500 inmate capacity just two months ago — during a global pandemic(!) — and a city councilman described the conditions as the worst he’d ever seen. And although the rappers didn’t know how much money they spent on this photo opportunity — yes, the scenes will be part of an upcoming music video — they also promise it’s not going to be a one-time event, encouraging their peers to follow their lead.

Other music videos from the compilation — which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week — include Thug and Unfoonk’s “Real.”
