J. Cole Is Prepared For The Journey On “The Off-Season”

It’s about that time. J. Cole has been a heavy topic of conversation ever since he shared the release date for The Off-Season, and following his “Interlude” single and his fire freestyle on L.A. Leakers, fans have been waiting on his latest record to hit streaming services. The 12-track project unsurprisingly hosts no features, and the usually quiet Cole shared with SLAM magazine the inspiration and theme of his anticipated project.

“The Off-Season symbolizes the work that it takes to get to the highest height. The Off-Season represents the many hours and months and years it took to get to top form,” he told the publication. “Just like in basketball, what you see him do in the court, that sh*t was worked on in the summertime. So for an athlete, if they take their career seriously and if they really got high goals and want to chase them, the off-season is where the magic really happens; where the ugly sh*t really happens, where the pain happens — the pushing yourself to uncomfortable limits.”

Producers on The Off-Season include Timbaland, Boi-1da, T-Minus, Tommy Parker, Jake One, DJ Dahi, and many more. J. Cole has also spoken about making peace with retiring and it has been reported that he’s set to play basketball for the Rwanda Patriots in the Africa League. Stream The Off-Season and let us know what you think.

Lil Scrappy Talks Pitfalls Of Maintaining A Rap Career While On Reality TV

Nearly 10 years ago, Lil Scrappy joined the cast of Love & Hip Hop Atlanta and has been a staple on the series ever since. The ATL native released his Tha Gru$tle album back in 2012, the same year he kicked off his reality television career with VH1, but he hasn’t really dished out new music at the same rate as his fellow rappers. He has shared a few mixtapes and another record, but within the last nine years, fans have primarily seen Lil Scrappy on the Love & Hip Hop franchise and its spin-off series.

The rapper sat down with Big Facts Podcast where he spoke openly about his career, including his longrunning stint on VH1. The hosts wanted to know if a rapper moving to reality television is “signing a death certificate” to their career in music. “Yeah, I’ve seen it happen,” said Scrap. “Before I even got into it, I was looking at [it], I was like, ‘Damn.'”

“But I thought about, I was like, ‘Sh*t, I ain’t even got a Rap career right now, so, you know what I’m saying, I don’t even give a f*ck,'” he added with a laugh. “I didn’t even give a f*ck. And then for real, like, when I say I’m connected with the god that created me, like, he put something in me. He was just—like Bank said man—‘Just keep that sh*t gangster, be yourself, my n*gga.’”

He added that he was told early on that production wouldn’t be following him around all day, every day because they initially only wanted to highlight the ups and downs of his love life. “Even if that, if you not careful, it’ll f*ck your whole love life up. And it done f*cked every last one of mine up. Just destroyed it.”

He was once engaged to Erica Dixon, who is also the mother of his daughter Emani. He moved on to Shay, his longtime friend, who he was secretly seeing and reportedly cheating on Erica. Then, after those relationships imploded, Scrappy dated Bambi, his current wife and mother of his two youngest children. There has been conflict between Erica and Bambi as well, and on VH1’s recent family reunion series, Scrappy wouldn’t even be in the same room as his ex.

Megan Thee Stallion Fans React To Pardison Fontaine Asking About “Wedding Season”

A simple question posed by Pardison Fontaine has Megan Thee Stallion fans in a tizzy. Pardison and the Houston Hottie have been hot and heavy on social media since they revealed their romance months ago. They’ve both shared just how deep their affections have grown for one another, and after Megan Thee Stallion recently announced that she would be taking some time off, people naturally assumed that her music career would be taking a backseat as she enjoys some personal time with her loved ones, including her new man.

With Megan’s hiatus has also come a pause in the photos and videos shared showing her with her artist boyfriend, but he resurfaced with a question.

“When is wedding season?” Pardi asked over on Twitter. Swiftly, fans of both artists jumped online to give their answers. Some took his inquiry seriously and gave their take on when “I dos” are usually exchanged, but others were not keen on entertaining the idea of the leader of Hot Girl Summer settling down for good.

Last month, Megan tweeted about her new relationship. “Pardi really showed me what it’s like to respect your partner … bc i used to be talking to people CRAZYYYY [crying laughing emoji],” she tweeted. “My boyfriend let’s me be me bc he confident I ain’t going no where … I like that.” Check out a few responses to Fontaine’s tweet below.

Laverne Cox Gets Apology From Universal For Dubbing Voice With Male Actor

Universal Pictures International is in hot water after it was revealed that Laverne Cox’s voice was dubbed to sound more manly. Trans actress Laverne Cox, who gained popularity as a star on Orange Is the New Black, stars in the revenge thriller Promising Young Woman alongside Carey Mulligan. The film is slated for release in Italy on May 13, but in an effort to promote the movie, Universal Pictures Italy shared a clip last week. It didn’t go over well with the international LGBTQIA+ community.

In it, Cox’s voice is dubbed over in Italian by voice actor Roberto Pedicini, and it was noted by The Guardian that the actress was given a deep-voiced tone. After an outcry from the public on social media, Universal Pictures International has issued a formal apology.

“We are deeply grateful to Laverne and the transgender community for opening our eyes to a bias that neither we nor many in our industry had recognised,” a statement to The Guardian reads. “While there was no malicious intent behind this mistake, we are working diligently to fix it. We have begun redubbing Ms Cox’s voice with female actors in our international territories and are pushing back release dates to ensure the correct version is available.”

They continued. “We are sorry for the pain caused but are thankful that we can address the situation on this film and prevent similar mistakes from happening again on future projects.” It has also been reported that Spain, a country that released the film last month, would be redubbing Cox’s voice, as well.

Teyana Taylor & Iman Shumpert Ink Deal For New E! Reality Series

She may be taking a step back from her music career after feeling underappreciated by her label, but that doesn’t mean those checks aren’t still coming in for Teyana Taylor. The applauded singer has often collaborated with NBA husband Iman Shumpert in the studio, and it looks as if fans are going to get an intimate look at their home life—again—but this time on E!.

The network announced the series today (May 13) by reporting, “Couple Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert will give an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look at their lives juggling music, fashion, business and family with E!’s ‘We Got Love Iman & Teyana.'” However, this isn’t the first time that the famed couple has allowed reality television cameras to document their lives.

Back in 2018, VH1 aired Teyana & Iman, a series that showcased their “unconventional romance defined by an unbreakable bond.” It only lasted for one season, but in January 2020, The JasmineBrand claimed that the couple inked a reality TV deal with BET. Yet, there wasn’t any more information regarding the development of the potential series until E!’s announcement.

Teyana is also rumored to be working with Dionne Warwick on a biopic and Lil Kim has repeatedly shared that she wants the singer to star as her in a movie about her life. Pop Smoke Case: Teen Murder Suspect Disrespects Rapper, Calls Out Detective

Three people were arrested in connection to the murder of Pop Smoke. Two haven’t been named publicly because they’re minors, but 20-year-old Corey Walker has been discussed quite a bit in recent reports. We previously shared information regarding Walker’s preliminary hearing where Los Angeles Police Detective Carlos Camacho revealed the tragic details of Pop Smoke’s final moments. It’s reported that the rapper was in the shower when the suspects allegedly broke into the Airbnb where he was staying and shot him to death in front of witnesses.

Later, news surfaced that a 15-year-old suspect confessed to being the person who pulled the trigger. An Instagram account attributed to one of the minor suspects reportedly made a post where he called out the detective involved in the case and disrespected the slain rapper.

“F*ck Carlos Camacho I’ll take the 7yrs,” the alleged suspect wrote. “Free da homies I’ll [be] home soon 5yrs at da most #F*CKPOPSMOKE.” He continued his rant in another Instagram Story post. “N*ggas talking bout some nonsense trynna smutt my name [thinking emoji],” the message read. “Whaa names did I mention??? None. I’ll tell on myself before I tell on anybody else DHS speak the real we kno da truth.”

Walker’s attorneys argue that he wasn’t the person to take Pop’s life. Check out a few posts below.
