Victor Oladipo Might Miss All Of Next Season: Report

Victor Oladipo has dealt with numerous injury issues over the years and they were certainly prominent last season with the Indiana Pacers. This year, Oladipo got to play with the Houston Rockets before going to the Miami Heat, who were his dream team for a few years now. Unfortunately, Oladipo got injured again and then had to get surgery on his right quad tendon which has been bothering him over the last few years. Since the surgery, Oladipo has yet to return.

Now, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, it seems like Oladipo’s prospects aren’t optimistic heading into next season. He was supposed to be a free agent this summer which meant he could go wherever he wanted. However, as Windhorst reports, it seems like Oladipo could miss the entire season which puts his free agency into question.

“They haven’t announced it, but there’s a good chance Oladipo is going to miss all of next season,” Windhorst proclaimed. The ESPN analyst has been known to break news like this before although considering Oladipo’s status, it’s surprising that this has yet to become a bigger story. If Windhorst proves to be correct, then it will be interesting to see if a team offers Oladipo a contract, even with his injury status in mind.

My father never stepped in
When his wife would rage at me
So I ended up awkward but sweet

Later than hospitals and still on my feet

Twitter Confirms Its Picture Cropping Algorithm Is Biased & Promises Manual Crop Update

It’s impossible to please everyone, and perhaps no one knows that better than the beloved social media platform Twitter. With every major update, Twitter users are often split about the application’s continued development, with some users longing for “the old Twitter” and others thoroughly enjoying the app’s latest features.

As seen with its newly incorporated features like Fleets and Spaces, the veteran social media platform typically stands its grounds, but after catching flack from users who called out the app’s seemingly biased image cropping algorithm, Twitter acknowledged the situation and went back to the drawing board.

Last fall, Twitter user @bascule exposed the potentially faulty algorithm by showing that the app favored Mitch McConnell over Barack Obama in two separate images, which soon prompted a response from Twitter, who said, “We tested for bias before shipping the model & didn’t find evidence of racial or gender bias in our testing. But it’s clear that we’ve got more analysis to do.”

Eight months later, Twitter has confirmed via an official post on its website that their in-depth analysis concluded that Twitter users were right. According to Complex, Twitter’s study tested for racial bias, gender bias, and the “male gaze,” and it eventually concluded that there’s around an 8 percent demographic parity favoring women, and 4 percent favoring white people. In order to rectify the situation, the social media platform has decided to remove machine learning from the image cropping function on Twitter and put power into users’ hands.

“One of our conclusions is that not everything on Twitter is a good candidate for an algorithm, and in this case, how to crop an image is a decision best made by people,” Twitter reveals in its statement. “In March, we began testing a new way to display standard aspect ratio photos in full on iOS and Android — meaning without the saliency algorithm crop.”

The Twitter logo is displayed on a banner outside the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on November 7, 2013 in New York City. Twitter goes public on the NYSE today and is expected to open at USD 26 per share, making the company worth an estimated USD 18 billion.

“The goal of this was to give people more control over how their images appear while also improving the experience of people seeing the images in their timeline,” the statement continues. “This update also includes a true preview of the image in the Tweet composer field, so Tweet authors know how their Tweets will look before they publish.”

Stay tuned for more updates as Twitter rolls out its new manual image cropping feature.

Best-Selling Author Logic Has A New Memoir, ‘This Bright Future,’ Coming Out This Year

Around this time in 2019, Logic pulled off something no rapper before him had ever done: He became the first rapper to ever land a novel (Supermarket) on top of a New York Times Best Sellers list. Now he’s adding to his bibliography with another new book, but this time, it’s a memoir.

The book is titled This Bright Future and it’s set for release on September 7. He wrote of the book on social media, “This is the story of everything I’ve gone through and it’s been a beautiful and difficult journey to relive. There’s honestly so much that I’ve never been able to express in my music and the interviews that followed. I’m so happy and proud to finally give my fans and the rest of the world my entire story. The way I never could with my music!”

The official site for the book offers a lengthier description:

This Bright Future is a raw and unfiltered journey into the life and mind of Bobby Hall, who emerged from the wreckage of a horrifically abusive childhood to become an era-defining artist of our tumultuous age.

A self-described orphan with parents, Bobby Hall began life as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, the only child of an alcoholic, mentally ill mother on welfare and an absent, crack-addicted father. After enduring seventeen years of abuse and neglect, Bobby ran away from home and — with nothing more than a discarded laptop and a ninth-grade education — he found his voice in the world of hip-hop and a new home in a place he never expected: the untamed and uncharted wilderness of the social media age.

In the message boards and livestreams of this brave new world, Bobby became Logic, transforming a childhood of violence, anger, and trauma into music that spread a resilient message of peace, love, and positivity. His songs would touch the lives of millions, taking him to dizzying heights of success, where the wounds of his childhood and the perils of Internet fame would nearly be his undoing.

A landmark achievement in an already remarkable career, This Bright Future looks back on Bobby’s extraordinary life with lacerating humor and fearless honesty. Heart-wrenching yet ultimately uplifting, this book completes the incredible true story and transformation of a human being who, against all odds, refused to be broken.”

Soulja Boy Explains Why He’s Always Going At Drake

There are a few things that Soulja Boy will go down for in the history books but his screeching “DRAAAAKE?!” call-out on the Breakfast Club has been cemented in the pantheon of great viral internet antics. The two have collaborated in the past but it seems like whenever Soulja is back in the headlines, there’s a concerted effort to drag Drake into his shenanigans.

HNHH recently chopped it up with Big Draco who explained that Bow Wow has forever had his back, even after calling out  Drake, again.

“My peers give me my credit, man,” he said. “That’s my boy in real life, you know what I’m sayin’? I’m gonna say it like this — I just have fun. People know — look, shout out to all them folks but they know what’s up. I’m the one, you know what I’m sayin’? I’m the one. C’mon man. I’m the one. It need be to Soulja. Soulja this, Soulja that.”

When it came down to calling out Drake specifically, Soulja explained that it was all in good fun, adding that there wasn’t “any pressure.”

“I was just poking a little fun. Having a little fun, like, ‘C’mon, man. You know what’s going on Drake. Stop playing with me, boy.’ But it’s all love. Shout out to Drake and to Bow Wow.”

The news was reported by Brazilian newspaper Extra Globo, which was later translated by the Daily Mail. Police have reportedly taken the phones of model Bianca Domingues and Kevin’s friend Victor Elias Fontenelle, who were both reportedly inside the hotel room at the time of the incident. The three are said to have “maintained sexual relations” before Kevin jumped from the balcony in fear of his wife finding them. He was rushed to the hospital and pronounced dead when he arrived.
