Rory & Mal Make Light Of Their “JBP” Exit With Hilarious Job Hunting Skit

Rory and Mal may not have gotten the most positive sendoff from The Joe Budden Podcast, but it doesn’t look like Joe Budden’s scathing rant earlier this month has deflated their spirits. The two cohosts recently reunited to release a transparent take on their JBP exit, and during their hour-long response, they discussed some of the major issues that they had been having with Budden.

Now that they’ve cleared the air and gotten the serious conversations out of the way, Rory and Mal have apparently shifted their sights onto better things. With rumors of a new podcast brewing, the former JBP cohosts have come through with even more content, and this time, fans of Rory and Mal get to see the music industry insiders test out their acting chops.

On Wednesday, Rory and Mal shared a skit titled “The Job Hunt” to their joint YouTube channel, and the nearly six-minute clip finds the former JBP cohosts on the hunt for a new job. Throughout the skit, Rory and Mal throw in plenty of jokes about themselves, including Mal’s famous “That’s Crazy” one-liner and Rory’s long-running stint as a manager for D’usse Palooza.

Rory and Mal even dig deeper to deliver hilarious moments inspired by Joe Budden‘s now-infamous rant. Towards the beginning of the video, Rory spills his drink on his jeans and asks Mal for detergent. Referencing Joe’s claim that Mal was keeping his detergent in his room when they were living together, Mal stares at Rory silently for a while before finally telling him where it’s located.

Later on in the skit, Rory and Mal are in a job interview, and Rory comically addresses the accounting dispute between him and Joe. “Well, I’m proficient in Microsoft Excel, specifically with accounting,” Rory says. “I don’t really know your policy here, but are you comfortable with me looking into the books?”

If you have six minutes to spare and would love some JBP-related humor, watch Rory and Mal’s “The Job Hunt” skit below.

Ras Kass, Kurupt, Killah Priest & Canibus Reunite For New “HRSMN” Album

In the early two-thousands, four of the game’s elite lyricists united to form The HRSMN, a supergroup consisting of Ras Kass, Kurupt, Canibus, and Killah Priest. Despite the talent involved, the biblically-themed quartet only delivered a single album, 2003’s The Horsemen Project, which arrived as a limited-edition release.

Since then, it’s been relatively quiet on the group front — though like their namesake, the Horseman has officially set the stage for their return. Ras Kass took to Instagram to confirm that The HRSMN would be delivering a brand new album The Last Ride on June 18th, revealing the album artwork in the process. “HRSMN represent Real Rap,” he captions. “Real Hip Hop Culture. Not Watered Down Trap-Pop Bullshit.”

LISTEN: The HRSMN – This Shit Right Here

Aside from Ras Kass’ description, which is to say, a deviation from the contemporary mainstream sound of today, little is known about what’s in store on The Last Ride. Expect plenty of bars throughout — last we heard from The HRSMN, they were putting in work on the Bandcamp exclusive single “Apocalips Now,” which you can check out right here. It will be interesting to see whether The Last Ride is released in a similar fashion, or whether the HRSMN gang opt to bring their upcoming project to streaming platforms.

Check out Ras Kass’ announcement post below, and stay tuned for more updates on the return of the Four Horsemen. Are you excited to see what the lyricists have been cooking up?

Rapper Big Jade Refused To Sign With Offset After He Asked Her To Get Plastic Surgery

Beaumont, Texas-based rapper Big Jade has been building a name for herself in recent years, achieving new heights to her success this year following collaborations with Erica Banks and producer BeatKing. The emcee has impressed the masses with her creative music videos, taking a different approach than most traditional hip-hop visuals. With her name beginning to ring bells, the 26-year-old has been receiving all kinds of different offers to further her career, weighing her options and deciding to sign with Alamo Records. During a recent interview with Houston radio station 97.9 The Box, Big Jade revealed that she was approached by Migos rapper Offset to sign with him, explaining that she took a different route after allegedly being told she would need to get plastic surgery.

“I could have signed with Offset and he was willing to give me double what Alamo [Records] gave me,” revealed Big Jade during the interview. “I love Offset to death, I love him and Cardi B to death. I didn’t sign with Offset because of a statement that he made about [me having to] start from scratch and get my body done. You ain’t talked to me about getting my body done. I probably would have wanted to get my body done but the fact that you ain’t talked to me about it first– if you would have gotten to know me and talked to me, you would have seen that’s not even what I’m pushing. I feel like hip-hop died when titties and ass started becoming more important than the music. I’m not gone do that. Even if I’m not happy with something in myself, I’m still not gone do it. That’s something that I battle with every day. Like, should I get this [procedure] done, should I get that done? I’m still learning how to love myself so that’s what I wanna push. I wanna show people that they can love themselves.”

You’ve got to respect Big Jade for taking less money to be more authentic to her values. What do you think about what she had to say about nearly signing with Offset?

Polo G’s Mom Follows In Nicki Minaj’s Footsteps With Her Own “Backyard Challenge”

Mother and mom-ager of “Pop Out” rapper, Polo G,  decided to join Nicki Minaj in hopping on the latest Instagram trend in hip hop.

In her video, Stacia Mac chooses to pay homage to Nicki Minaj’s post instead of making her own bars. She quotes Nicki in saying: “Attention, this is how bad bitches go on vacation but really still be at home,” while also adding her own flair. After echoing the Nicki’s lines, she throws on her sunglasses, and then the video pans out to her breathtaking pool and home.

Friends and fans showed her love in the comments. Asian Doll commented, “Let’s gooooo,” while a friend jokingly said, “Yeah when I’m back in ATL me & the kids coming over lol!!!,” to which Stacia sweetly responded, “come on boo.”

Nicki Minaj was the first video response to Yo Gotti’s challenge, to which the “Rake it Up” rapper responded “The Queen !!

Yo Gotti’s original still remains the most extravagant, as he literally was drowning in money, jumping into a pool in his backyard cave full of 100 dollar bills.

Stacia Mac is sure to be a name you hear again, because, in addition to Polo G, Asian Doll just announced that Stacia is her new manager earlier this week. Asian Doll has had a rough couple of months after the death of her ex-boyfriend “Took Her to the O” rapper King Von. If Stacia is able to turn around Asian’s career, it could incidentally elevate both to new heights.

Which celebrity would you like to see do the #backyardchallenge next?

Conway’s Shady Debut Features Lil Wayne, Rick Ross & More

Conway The Machine’s upcoming Shady Records album God Don’t Make Mistakes is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. We recently had the honor of chopping it up with The Machine a while back, and the lyricist took a moment to provide an update on the album’s status — teasing a few intriguing guest appearances in the process.

“It’s in their hands now,” confirms Conway, when asked about a potential release window. “It’s finished. We’re happy with everything on our end, but it should be coming out this summer, God willing. I’m excited for the release, I know the fans been waiting. I want my fans to hear it and love it as much as they wanna listen to it and enjoy it and appreciate it and value it. So it’s coming. Some things need to be ironed out and tinkered with, but it’s coming. All systems go. So hopefully this summer we gonna get that.”

“Probably just the transparency on some of the records, with some of the stuff that goes on behind the scenes,” he reveals, teasing some of the content to be expected. “I got Wayne on there, I got Rick Ross, West, Benny, the usuals. Daringer produced a lot of it. It’s a classic Conway album. It’s giving you that feeling that I provide. I’m just super excited for fans to own this piece of art in their possession.”

Keep an eye out for more news on Conway’s God Don’t Make Mistakes, with confirmed features from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Westside Gunn, and Benny The Butcher. With the project in Shady’s hands, we can only hope that Eminem and Paul Rosenberg come through for Griselda sooner than later. After all, Machine is set to hit the road this autumn, and it would be mighty nice to hear some of those GDMM tracks on the big stage.

24kGoldn & Future Get Treated Like Royalty In “Company” Music Video

Following the release of his debut album El Dorado, 24kGoldn is no longer just an artist with a viral, chart-topping song. His freshman outing scored him a #22 debut on the Billboard 200, and the project has also spawned several impressive tracks, including “3, 2, 1,” “Love or Lust,” and the Future-assisted “Company.”

As it has quickly separated itself from the other songs on El Dorado, “Company” has recently received a stunning visual treatment, and the video features both 24kGoldn and Future Hendrix being treated like royalty.

Taking major cues from Eddie Murphy’s classic 1988 film Coming to America, 24kGoldn and Future are escorted by several beautiful women, Prince of Zamunda-style. The “Company” music video also features some stunning visual effects, most notably in one recurring shot which features the artists reciting their lyrics on a plush red couch while a sped-up party rages on around them.

The final stretch of the “Compay” video then switches things up with even more eye-catching visuals, as 24kGoldn and an assortment of dancers are adorned in neon body paint. The warm sepia tone filter that covers the rest of the video is swapped out for a dark and empty void that offers a striking contrast against the naked body-painted dancers. While visually stunning, this last section is definitely NSFW, so proceed with caution.

Head back to the top to see the Daps-directed music video for 24kGoldn and Future’s latest collaboration “Company.”

Brockhampton Performs ‘Don’t Shoot Up The Party’ On ‘The Late Show’

If Roadrunner: New Light, New Machine really is Brockhampton’s penultimate album as a group, they’re going out with a bang. The group appeared on last night’s episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to perform the album’s pensive but electrifying cut “Don’t Shoot Up The Party.”

Wearing matching jumpsuits — as per usual for the extremely coordinated, self-professed “boy band” — the group performs from a tiered platform surrounded by massive LED screens projecting their performance back at them. The effect is suitably trippy for the glitched-out, magnetized VHS look they’re fond of embracing, and as always, their energy is unmatched, despite being sort of constrained by the small set.

Kevin Abstract, the group’s de facto leader, informed fans ahead of Roadrunner‘s release that their next two projects would be their last. With Roadrunner out now, that leaves one album to go — although Abstract later offered a glimmer of hope in explaining the band’s oncoming dissolution. Writing, “we all love each other and we wanna continue making the best music we can everybody just getting a lil older and got a lot to say outside of group projects,” Kevin revealed that the band may have a bonus project on the docket — the previously postponed Technical Difficulties, which he says has “hella samples to clear.”

“The Masked Singer” Runner Up JoJo Drops New Single “Creature Of Habit”

Award-winning singer-songwriter and actress JoJo is back with “Creature of Habit,” her third single of the year.

“Creature of Habit” finds itself as a follow-up to a wildly successful past two years for the R&B singer. In 2020, her latest full-length release Good to Know debuted at #1 on the Billboard R&B Albums Chart and was followed by a string of successful singles. More recently, JoJo secured a spot as runner-up on the newest season of Fox’s The Masked Singer.

According to JoJo, her participation in the show was a defining moment as she progresses through her music career: “It allowed me to reclaim my passion for singing, writing, and even interpreting other people’s songs. The Masked Singer is an experience I’ll always be grateful for.” However, the singer is now refocusing on new music and “Creature of Habit,” written by Grammy-nominated Justin Tranter and Sasha Sloan, marks her return to pop-infused R&B.

JoJo’s powerful melodies, backed by atmospheric production from highly regarded Mano and Russi, detail her struggle with holding onto toxic relationships for the sake of habit and comfort: “Sometimes it just feels more comfortable to stay in the habit, rather than allowing yourself the discomfort of letting it go. Essentially, it’s the fear of the unknown that keeps us in the habit.” The music video for the new single, featuring JoJo with a brand new blonde look, premieres Thursday at 12:45 PM EST. Fans will certainly be tuning in to the music video’s livestream and should look forward to new JoJo music very soon.

Let us know if you can jam to this one, and follow our R&B SEASON playlist for more, and check out our Next Generation of R&B list.

Quotable Lyrics

I’m a creature
I don’t even really need ya
It’s like I’m kinda scared to leave ya
It’s not a feature I’m proud of
