Alicia Keys’ New Netflix Film Is Getting Roasted On Twitter For Being A Little Too Realistic

Resort To Love, a new Netflix movie coming out this month produced by Alicia Keys, is garnering a lot of attention on Twitter today. Unfortunately for her, the buzz consists less of excitement to see the movie than it does fans trolling it for its premise. The film, which stars Keys’ fellow 2000s pop fixture, Christina Milian, as a singer who gets booked for her ex’s wedding and winds up romancing him away from his new fiancee, is reminding fans of Keys’ own affair with Swizz Beatz, who divorced his wife Mashonda and married Keys the same month in 2010.

Love can be messy, sure, but the film’s plot is hitting a little close to home for some fans, prompting a roast session of trend-worthy proportions. The jokes came flying at breakneck speed to point out the obvious similarities between Keys’ real-life love story and the one that she produced, which apparently asks viewers to sympathize with the would-be homewrecker’s point of view. Granted, the movie still isn’t out yet so we don’t know that this is actually what happens in it, so maybe it deserves the benefit of the doubt.

That, however, would be entirely too reasonable and not what we’re here for today. Today, we are going to get these jokes off. Check out the film’s trailer above and more hilarious reactions below.

OG Parker Tells Us His Secret To Constantly Creating Hits

OG Parker is the producer you can count on. He knows how to create a song that the people will love and he’s done it numerous times for the likes of Migos, PartyNextDoor, and Chris Brown. His latest achievement has been his work on XXL Freshman DDG’s project Die 4 Respect and their TikTok hit “Impatient” with Coi Leray.

The talented multi-instrumentalist (Parker plays the clarinet, piano, and drums) attended Georgia State University in Atlanta to study music and in 2017 decided to put everything into being a producer. From Migos’ Culture hit “Walk It Talk It” featuring Drake to Megan Thee Stallion’s latest single “Thot Shit” and DDG’s “Impatient,” OG Parker has kept up with his own momentum with consistency. The 27-year-old Quality Control beat maker’s next move is to put together his own project, with the release of “Rain” featuring Chris Brown, Layton Greene, Latto, and PnB Rock.

Uproxx got the chance to catch up OG Parker to talk about the year he’s having in music and how he’s able to constantly create hits.

Let’s talk about “Rain” and how you got PnB Rock, Chris Brown, Latto and Layton Greene on that one track.

It was a song that I had already did with Chris. Chris was already on it and PnB was already on it. I had it for about a year and a half now and I knew it was a song that I wanted to do as my single. I had been trying to figure out the right artists I wanted to put on it. I knew I wanted females on it. I went and I got Latto and I got Layton Greene on it and it just took a minute to get it all together, get the mix right, get everything together.

What was the most difficult part about putting the song together?

I think just trying to make it perfect. I’m an overthinker. So I’ve been trying to figure out the order of the artists. I didn’t know who I wanted to go first and everything.

Does that happen often or is that your normal work process of you rearranging things multiple times? Reminds me of Kanye West, how we got all those Life Of Pablo edits in real-time.

Exactly. Usually, I’m not as hands-on because it’s not always my song. Usually, the artist gets to control that more. This is one of the first times where I really get to make the final decision.

So the project as a whole, is it done? When is it coming out? What’s the status?

It’s about 70% to 80% done, I would say and we’re looking for it to come out a little bit after summer.

How many songs are on it so far and what’s the vibe like?

We got a lot of songs, but I wanted it to be around five to eight. I want it to be like an EP. I don’t want it to be too long because I’m just trying to introduce myself right now. I want it to be everything. I want it to be awesome. I want to have a dance hall song on there, a trap joint going on there, and an R&B joint on there.

Can you say who else you’ve collaborated with on this project?

I can’t say who’s going to make the final cut because we have a lot of records, but I’ve been working with Kehlani, PartyNextDoor, Tyga, a lot of people.

Tell us about working on “Thot Shit” for Megan Thee Stallion.

We actually have a whole bunch of songs, we’ve been going crazy, but the first song I made with her was “Thot Shit.” I’m actually really cool with her engineer. So he hit me up like, “Yo. I’m in the studio with Meg, send me some beats.” I sent a couple of beats over and then he was like, “Yo, I’m about to FaceTime you.” He FaceTimed me and Meg took the phone and she was like, “Yo, all these beats you just sent me are mine. I love them all.” Ever since then I just been sending her beats and we just been going crazy. We got in the studio a couple of weeks ago and we were just working on the album.

I also want to talk about your production. I feel it’s really distinct and I’m just curious to know where do you draw your production ideas from to make a hit?

I would say, I don’t think I’m a super-emotional person, but I think that I draw a lot of my beats from the emotions that I’m feeling at the moment. So if I’m sad, I’m probably going to go to the studio and make some R&B beats and if I’m turned up, if I’ve been drinking with the homies and stuff, I’m going to make some turnt trap stuff or a club hit because that’s the vibe I’m feeling.

What would you say is a song that maybe you were very passionate about something and that’s the beat that got created when you pulled from that place?

I would say “Thot Shit.” I actually produced that with Lil Ju who did Body and all those songs for her. When we cooked up that day, I think that we were cooking up for her, we knew she was working on the album. I think that we were mainly focused on making up-tempo club stuff. I think that was the time that we kind of went in with a set plan and then it worked out.

So you guys made this beat together in person?

He actually lives in LA and he came to Atlanta for a couple of days and he hit me up. He was like, “Yo, what you want?” I was like, “Yo, come to my house.” We made like seven beats that night and “Thot Shit “was one of them.

You also worked with DDG who is going crazy this year as well. What made you want to work with him?

So originally it was actually a session that my manager set up. I actually was on his last tape. I had two songs on there and it was a cool vibe. I would say about eight months later, I was like, “Yo, I want to lock back in with DDG.” So I flew to LA and we just started working and then I was like, “Yo, we should just do a whole tape.” We just kept growing and working and then getting features. It was just a crazy vibe. That was kind of my first time ever, just EP-ing somebody’s whole project and it was a great experience and I feel the people are receiving it very well.

I also want to just talk about your influence in Atlanta as a whole. Tell me a little bit about you coming up in Atlanta and the style of music that you make and your influence.

Growing up, you had your Shawty Redd’s and your Zaytoven’s and things like that. The trap drums and stuff I feel is embedded into Atlanta producer’s DNA because we grew up hearing those Gucci songs at every club we went to. It was the trap drums and stuff like that came to me naturally. Then being somebody who plays instruments and having a grandfather that was a professional pianist, I feel that gave me a different melodic edge to my production. My stuff is kind of melodic mixed with the trap stuff.

Once this project comes out, what can everyone expect?

I think that’s going to definitely take my career to the next level. I think it’s something that I’m going to continue to tap into. This definitely wouldn’t be my last project, I would want to keep working and drop a full-length project after this one. Then also just keep working with all the artists that I’ve been working with.

You’ve accomplished quite a bit. How do you want to impact your fans or listeners at the end of the day?

I would say definitely for the producer community, I would want to be looked at as somebody who can make all the genres at a high level for your favorite artists. The goal is to break new artists. I feel that’s something that I heard Timbaland say in an interview. He said that he’s remembered for breaking Aaliyah more than just getting with an artist that’s already famous to give them a hit song because that’s easier than breaking a new artist. That’s something that I definitely want to do.

Naya Rivera Died One Year Ago Today

On July 8, 2020, Niya Rivera went missing at Lake Piru in Southern California after a day boat trip with her then 4-year-old son Josey Hollis Dorsey. A search then ensued for the Glee actress and her son, and although Josey was quickly found, it was unfortunately confirmed five days later that Niya Rivera had drowned in Lake Piru while saving her son and died at the age of 33.

In the year since Rivera’s tragic death in Southern California, her ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit, Naya has made her final television appearance on Netflix’s Sugar Rush, and her family has dealt with internal drama while trying to move on. Today, however, they are solely concerned with honoring Naya Rivera on the one-year anniversary of the day she passed away.

While speaking with Good Morning America, Rivera’s mother, Yolanda Previtire, spoke candidly about how hard it has been for her and her family to cope with the tragic loss of Naya last year.

“Sometimes we’re afraid of the sorrow being so heavy that we’re afraid for our own self, ’cause this is hard,” Previtire said. “There are no words to describe what we’re going through. All we know is we have each other. I feel Naya’s energy constantly telling me, ‘Mom, be happy. Don’t cry. I’m OK. Go get Josey. Have fun.’ And I feel that it’s coming from her. I literally wake up every morning, and it’s almost like a restart button, and I have to shake it off … one foot at a time. And here we are.”

Naya’s other family members also got a chance to reflect on her passing while speaking to Good Morning America as well, as seen in the clips below.

In addition to her family, several fans have come forward to express their love for Rivera as well. Check out some of the most heartfelt tributes to the Glee actress on Twitter. Rest in peace, Naya Rivera.

Drake “Certified Lover Boy” Release Date May Have Been Leaked By Dana White

Drake has been confirmed to be appearing in Las Vegas for Fight Night this weekend, possibly walking out Conor McGregor for his match against Dustin Poirier. UFC President Dana White has been hyping up the upcoming battle, running press interviews, and seemingly revealing some secrets about this weekend’s events.

After previously hinting that Drake has “big plans” for this weekend, Dana White may have leaked the news that Certified Lover Boy is dropping in a matter of hours, telling an interviewer that he “thinks” that’s what’s happening.

“This weekend is going to be nuts,” said White. “In a nutshell, you’ve got the T-Mobile sold out with the McGregor-Poirier fight. You got the stadium sold out with Garth Brooks. Bieber is doing a concert here this weekend. I think Drake’s dropping his album here this weekend.” Wait… what?

Drake… dropping his album… this weekend?!? Ever since the beginning of this year, Drake has been teasing his upcoming album Certified Lover Boy. It was indefinitely delayed because of the rapper’s knee surgery, but he has started teasing the new music again, possibly getting ready to begin his rollout. The album was originally supposed to drop back in January.

Dana White didn’t seem sure about Drake’s album plans, and other people have been wrong about his drop date in the past, but maybe he knows something that we don’t. Cue the excitement in 3, 2, 1. Who’s ready for Certified Lover Boy?

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Returns With “Nevada”

Despite having contended with no shortage of personal and legal hardship, YoungBoy Never Broke Again has established himself as an innovator of his hip-hop generation. So much so that even veteran artists like Soulja Boy have reserved a spot for him in their top ten rankings. And while he currently sits incarcerated on federal charges, YoungBoy continues to drop music at a prolific rate, coming through with his new single “Nevada.”

Musically, we’re looking at another melodic offering from NBA, who lays his heart on the line over an electric-guitar driven instrumental. “Don’t know who I want, you the one I want,” he sing-raps. “Never said I don’t, that’s that money talk / Drunker than a skunk, it go down in the room / Choppas in the trunk, baby, this that slime tone.”

Check out YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s new single right now, and sound off if you’ll be keeping this on steady rotation.

NBA Shows Off 75th Anniversary Logo For Next Season

Gearing up to celebrate 75 years as a league has forced the National Basketball Association to turn its predominantly rectangular logo into a diamond, in celebration of their diamond anniversary. Living with the pressure of fluctuating ratings thanks to the game’s biggest star not playing basketball is likely enough to turn anything into a jewel.

While the new logo doesn’t feature Kobe Bryant’s silhouette, with players and internet users having begged far too long for this not to be the case, Jerry West remains the mascot of the league and that will ensue going forward into these three-quarters of life garnering a celebration.

According to the NBA itself, their new gem will be displayed “on courts and official NBA merchandise, inside arenas, and in original broadcast, digital and social media content.”  That being said, going forward, expect to have this thrown in your face a whole lot come the new season.

With neither LeBron James nor Kevin Durant appearing in this year’s last round of the playoffs, the league’s search for a new face could be coming to a close sooner than we think. While Devin Booker may not be that exactly, Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Phoenix Suns tips off tonight at 6 PM, with the Suns having a 1-0 series lead.

MF Doom To Have Street Named After Him In Long Beach, New York

Halfway through 2021, it’s still shocking to know that MF Doom is no longer with us. The legendary emcee sadly passed away at the age of 49 last October, but it wasn’t until New Year’s Eve that his family revealed the news. With subsequent reports of nearly finished projects and insane collaborations in the works, MF Doom’s passing was even harder to stomach, but it has been great to see the beloved Hip-Hop artist’s legacy continue to live on.

After earning a posthumous UK album certification and bringing his augmented reality masks to the NFT space, more great Doom news has just rolled in. As previously reported in February, a petition was launched that called for a street in New York to be renamed in MF Doom’s memory, and several months later, it turns out that the petition was ultimately successful.

According to Complex, the East Hudson Street block between Riverside Boulevard and Long Beach Road in Long Beach, New York has been approved to be renamed “KMD-MF DOOM Way.”

“I had several community members contact me to see if I could get engaged with it,” Dr. Patrick C. Graham, who went to high school with Doom and initiated the petition, said. “I used to run the Martin Luther King Center there, so I still have a close connection to the community. I was born and raised there, went to high school with Dumile. So I said give me a minute and I’ll craft a letter to the City Council based on how I see it and then converted that letter into a petition. The group said they loved it and we moved forward.”

“I’m just happy this is happening,” Dr. Graham continued. “Because it’s not only a victory for Dumile’s legacy, but it’s also about showing that community our generation. It is a way for people to see a symbol of our generation and our impact, particularly in a community that’s gentrifying pretty fast.”

According to Complex, Long Beach City Manager Donna M. Gayden is also excited for the opportunity to rename the street after MF Doom, and she says that the city “is proud to bestow this honor in his memory and proud that he called our City home.”

For those who stay in New York, will you be paying a trip to “KMD-MF DOOM Way” once the change is officially made?

DMX Official Cause Of Death Revealed

DMX passed away on April 9, 2021 following a weeklong battle in the hospital, fighting to stay alive after suffering a heart attack. During his hospital stay in White Plains, New York, there was a lot of misinformation shared regarding the legendary rapper’s condition — including how he landed himself in medical care. Some reports suggested that he contracted COVID-19, which was later disproved by his management, and other sources claimed that he had passed before that information was actually confirmed

It took a few months but DMX’s official cause of death has been reported by Vulture, confirming that he died following a cocaine-induced heart attack that caused a lack of blood circulation to his brain. Vulture received the information from the Westchester County medical examiner’s office. “It was cardiac arrest for a period of time, so there was no circulation to the brain,” they said, explaining that cocaine intoxication caused this chain of events.

It was previously reported that DMX had suffered a drug overdose and a heart attack, but the specifics were not widely known. An analysis was done of the rapper’s urine, which showed the presence of cocaine. An autopsy was not performed by the medical examiner’s office as the cause of death was determined beforehand by police and medical professionals.

“His death literally happened immediately because the brain was dead,” explained the source. “So obviously, there were a number of days where he was on ventilatory support and so forth in the hospital. However, he was diagnosed brain-dead early on … He never woke up from [a] coma.”

The report also clarifies DMX’s attorney’s statement about the rapper never being diagnosed with COVID-19 or receiving the vaccine, saying that the “Persons who made that statement had no basis to formulate a belief.”
