Silento Requests $25K Bail Following Murder Charge

The artist of Billboard’s no. 3 2015 hit single “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” reemerged into the public spotlight in Februrary, but not for any musical reason. Silento shocked the public after news broke of him being charged for the murder of his cousin, Frederick Rooks. Now awaiting trial, he is focused on exercising his right for bail — starting at the low ball of $25,000.

In documents obtained by TMZ, Silento claims he will not flee if released on bail. He claims he is “not an extraordinary bail risk and will not jeopardize the safety of the community if released on bail.”

The 23-year-old rapper was arrested twice in 2020, once in September for threatening with a hatchet” in an incident involving his girlfriend where he was held on a bond of $250K. Around a month later, he was once again for reckless driving charges. As the murder charge is his third charge in less than a year, the possibility of being granted such a low bail seems unlikely for him.

Silento’s sudden spike in criminal activity can reportedly be attributed to mental health issues according to a statement by his publicist (read our piece on her statement here). The singer has been open and transparent about his problems, detailing his childhood in an interview on the CBS show The Doctors (watch above), stating “depression doesn’t leave you when you become famous, it just adds more pressure.”

The fate of the struggling singer will be determined at his bond hearing set to take place before the end of the month. Stay tuned to HNHH for updates.

Payday has been growing quickly as an artist, recently getting a look from ILOVEMAKONNEN on his latest album. The teenage artist is developing a fanbase with her bubbly and relatable pop songs, which are often inspired by hip-hop adjacent themes. Her biggest song to date has been “Beam,” which was released as part of her 2020 project It’s Just Music. The track continues to rise in popularity and last week, Payday decided to link up with Florida rapper Jackboy to release the second part of the song, building on where it left off.

The new music video for “Beam, Pt. 2” takes place inside of an arcade. Payday and Jackboy chase after each other with play guns in the video, which looks like it was probably a blast to film.

Don’t fall in love ’cause it’s not what it seems
Remember you said that I’m stuck in a dream
You make me bitter, you’re making me mean

Trey Songz Sued For Alleged Bartender Beatdown: Report

Trey Songz just dodged charges related to the alleged assault on a police officer at a Chiefs game but he’s facing a new lawsuit stemming from an alleged assault on a venue’s bar staff. According to TMZ, a man is suing Trey Songs for allegedly punching him in the head at the Hollywood Palladium before casually returning his focus back to the concert.

The lawsuit claims that the man was serving as the bartender around midnight when Trey Songz began hanging around the area. The bartender says Trey Songz jumped on top of the bar where he was watching his show. The problem is that it’s against the venue’s policy. The lawsuit claims the bartender told Trey that it was in violation of their policies but the singer allegedly ignored the call. The bartender said he eventually put his hands on Trey Songz’s back to get his attention when he was met with a punch to the head. Trey Songz allegedly gave the man a blank look before he continued to watch the concert.

TMZ reports that Trey Songz was confirmed to have been at the Hollywood Palladium on the night Cardi B was hosting an event in collaboration with Fashion Nova. The bartender is suing Trey Songz for physical, emotional, and psychological.

We’ll keep you posted on any more updates surrounding the lawsuit.

50 Cent Announces He’s Moved To Houston

50 Cent has officially packed his bags and moved from New York to Houston. The rap legend/television producer announced the move on social media, telling fans that he’ll miss the Big Apple but that he’ll explain his move at a later date.

Back in March, Fiddy expressed an interest in moving to Texas, supporting Gov. Greg Abbott’s decision to lift the mask mandate and opening businesses fully. “I’m headed to Texas f*ck this,” he said. It turns out that he was completely serious because, just a few months later and he’s calling Houston his home.

In the midst of the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election, Fif also claimed that he would leave the country if Joe Biden was elected. Clearly, he’s changed his mind on that. The reasoning for his would-be departure from the country was based on Biden’s proposed tax plan, which raised rates for the ultra-wealthy. “WHAT THE F*CK! (VOTE ForTRUMP) IM OUT,” he wrote in October.

Are you surprised that 50 Cent was serious about moving to Texas? Check out his latest post below and be on the lookout for him on your next trip to Houston.

TDE’s Punch Has The Ultimate Sports Hot Take: “Steph [Curry] Is Better Than Jordan”

There’s a lot that Terrence Louis Henderson Jr. — you may know him better as the TDE exec that goes by ‘Punch’ — knows when it comes to music, particularly hip-hop. However, we’re not too sure the big homie is thinking too straight when it comes to the politics of basketball commentary. Case in point? He literally just claimed that Steph Curry is better than the Michael Jordan.

Save your debates for the comment section, but read along!

TDE Punch Sports Hot Take Steph Curry Better Michael Jordan

Now granted, Curry put up amazing performance stats last night (May 4) in spite of his Warriors losing against the New Orleans Pelicans (seen above) in a close 103 – 108 defeat. Despite the loss, Steph made history yet again by becoming the fastest player in the history of NBA to make 300 three-pointers in a  single season.

According to CBS Sports, it took Curry only 58 games to hit the 300 mark, which he did during last night’s game that we’re sure Punch was watching and might’ve influenced his aforementioned scorching hot take. That game also saw Curry join Ray Allen as the only player in NBA history to hit 2,800 career three-pointers. Allen’s record stands at 2,973, but at this rate Curry will surpass that in no time. Now back to Curry being better than Jordan.

In the history of, well, history, there have been many bold enough to claim almost anyone who shows greater-than-average talent on the court as “The Next Michael Jordan.” Granted, LeBron is otherworldly, and Kobe was every bit of the legend people make him out to be, but there will never be anyone who commands the court and has superseded the game of basketball on all levels quite like His Airness. Granted, that sounds like a hot take in itself, but maybe it’s just something we can all take a stance on and argue it out about.

Sound off with your thoughts below and let us know if you agree with Punch or not:

MF DOOM’s passing still weighs heavy on his substantial fanbase, many of whom have taken solace in the stellar discography he left behind. Being among the game’s prolific emcees, it’s no surprise that DOOM put in work in the studio prior to his death, and today it has been confirmed that his first posthumous release is officially on the way.

Czarface & MF DOOM: “Super What?” was recorded and slated to drop in April of 2020,” reads the post, which arrives alongside the comic-book-inspired cover. “When COVID-19 struck and the world stopped, we chose to pull it, focus on family, and fine-tune a few elements on it. What you’ll be hearing was finalized, mixed & mastered in the summer of 2020, and it’s our honor and privilege to share it with you Friday.”

“I speak for everyone involved when I say we were incredibly fortunate to have collaborated with DOOM,” continues Esoteric. “He was a one-of-a-kind, never-to-be-duplicated emcee, producer, and visionary. We wish peace and healing to his family, friends and everyone touched by the gifts he shared with the planet. MF DOOM FOREVER.”

Meek Mill Buys $50,000 Of Dogecoin As Prices Inflate Due To Increased Media Attention

Crypto mania continues to tighten its hold on hip-hop as more and more jump on the blockchain wave in the hopes of a big payday. Just a week after Eminem reportedly pulled down almost $2 million selling a collection of NFTs and Nas purportedly made out like a bandit thanks to early investment in the cryptocurrency exchange platform Coinbase (prompting him to dub himself the “Cryptocurrency Scarface” on DJ Khaled’s “Sorry Not Sorry”), Meek Mill has joined in the feeding frenzy, buying $50,000 worth of the meme currency Dogecoin as prices rise in the wake of increased media coverage (but not scrutiny).

The rise was precipitated by this year’s flurry of coverage of the Reddit-shorted GameStop stock, as offshoots of the movement turned their focus to Dogecoin (“To the moon!”), like a rabbit hole with enticing lighting strewn up around it. After Elon Musk and his cultis– er, fans — sent the price flying thanks to a tweet from the SpaceX mogul, it looked like Dogecoin might actually be worth something, and noticing this Meek felt a fierce case of FOMO.

“I just grabbed some doge I’m tired of missing out,” he said on Twitter. Meanwhile, on Instagram, he posted a screenshot revealing both his investment — $50,000, or the price of a midsize sedan, or more than many Americans make in a year, depending on how you look at it — and his chronic misunderstanding of investment practices (buy low, sell high, Meek!).

We’ll see if it works out for him but for now, it looks like he’s another person who’s bullish on cryptocurrency and betting he can cash out before the casino closes.
