Nelly Walks Through Ja Rule & Fat Joe To Secure A Hug From Ashanti
Hip-hop fans really want Ashanti and Nelly to give things another try following Tuesday night’s Verzuz between Fat Joe and Ja Rule. The two former lovebirds were both on stage during the performance and, at one point, Nelly walked past all of the performers to seemingly ask his ex-girlfriend for a hug.
People are commenting on one moment during the Verzuz battle last night when Nelly seemingly parted the seas to get a hug from Ashanti. Ja Rule was in the midst of an intense performance, and Fat Joe was hyping up the crowd, but Nelly made sure to respectfully walk across the stage, angling his way around both of them on his way to Ashanti, who he hugged.

“Man walked through a whole performance to get that hug,” said one fan about the viral embrace. “He want that old thing back,” said another. “Mans traveled for that hug,” joked a third fan.
While the cameraman didn’t show much of their connection, a different angle shows Nelly before the hug, seemingly telling somebody that he was thinking of going to greet Ashanti after her performance of “What’s Luv.”

With the way that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck recently got back together, fans of Ashanti and Nelly are wishing that the former couple pulls a Bennifer and ends up back in each other’s arms. Last night was a start.

Tems Shines Bright On Melodic “Replay”
Riding the momentum of an impressive interlude on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy, Tems has come through to deliver her new EP If Orange Was A Place. Though short enough to be enjoyed in one cohesive sitting, “Replay” feels like an early standout, an uptempo melodic vibe that highlights her confident vocal presence and playful, intimate lyricism.
“Even on days, when they tried to arrest me, but if you live a lie, there’s no way you could get me,” she sings, her vocals blending beautifully with the lush production — even more so when she slides effortlessly into a lovely falsetto. “Pissed em off, they locked up in a celly / Then shock dem when they see me on the telly.” It’s certainly worth checking out, and if you like what you’re hearing, be sure to show Tems some love by checking out her brand new EP right here.

Lil Durk Wishes His Fallen Brother OTF DThang A Happy Birthday
In the months since Lil Durk’s brother, OTF DThang, was fatally shot outside of a Chicago club, Durk has made sure to honor his name. Today, on what would have been DThang’s 32nd birthday, Durk took to Instagram with a message for his late brother.
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY DTHANG,” Durk wrote. “I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU DEEPLY.”
Durk, who has recently ascended into the upper echelons of hip-hop, featuring on two Drake tracks, “Laugh Now, Cry Later” and Certified Lover Boy‘s “In the Bible” as well as dropping The Voice of the Heroes, a collaboration project with Lil Baby, has also been faced with multiple notable tragedies over the past year. Including the death of DThang, Durk lost King Von last November he was fatally shot in Atlanta, Georgia and in July, he and India Royale were caught in a shootout when armed intruders attempted to break into their home.
Through it all, comments about Durk “sacrificing” those around him have arisen and seemingly at every turn, 6ix9ine is waiting to riddle Durk with insane comments about the friends and family members he has lost. In fact, after DJ Akademiks re-posted Durk’s stories for DThang, the comment section was abuzz, waiting for the “Gummo” rapper to come out of the woodwork and say something.
Despite his musical successes, it’s clear that Durk is dealing with a whole lot more than what fans and followers can see on the surface. Recently saying he wants people to love him now and not later, Durk has been taking to Twitter to air out his emotions. Last week, Durk tweeted that he is “acting like I’m happy but I’m really sad inside,” and based on today’s IG posts in honor of his late brother, it’s clear that as Durk gets older and more established in the rap game, he is struggling with losing those around him.
What do you think about Durk’s recent social media posts? Let us know in the comments.
Caitlyn Jenner Loses California Recall Election By Insurmountable Margin
On Tuesday, Californians hit the voting booths to vote on whether current California Governor Gavin Newsom should be removed from office. According to CNN, the push to remove Newsom from office was started last year by conservative Californians critical of the governor’s record on multiple issues, most notably regarding his decisions during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With the potential of Newsom’s gubernatorial office being vacated, several stepped up to run for governor of California should the recall election be successful, and of those nearly four dozen candidates, Caitlyn Jenner was perhaps one of the most well-known candidates. However, as results from the recall election trickled in on Tuesday, it was revealed that the retired Olympian and polarizing popular culture figure performed horribly in the critical election.

According to CNN, Jenner has reportedly garnered 55,891 votes, which is just 1.1% of the total statewide vote, in the “replace” section of the recall ballot. Despite the vast amount of publicity that her campaign used, Caitlyn Jenner lost by an insurmountable margin, as Larry Elder earned the most votes for the “replace” nomination with 2,373,571 votes, almost 47% of the total statewide vote.
However, like Caitlyn Jenner‘s nearly 56k votes, Elder’s 2.3 million votes were still not enough for him to become California’s next governor because over 63% of Californians who voted agreed that Newsom should not be recalled. In response to the unsuccessful recall, Caitlyn Jenner offered a scathing critique of Newsom as well as his constituents.
“He didn’t campaign to do this recall on not one of his successes because he doesn’t have any,” Jenner remarked in her concession speech. “And I can’t believe that this many people actually voted to keep him in office. It’s a shame. Honestly, it’s a shame. You kind of get the government you deserve.”
Given the results of the recall election, Governor Gavin Newsom will remain in office, and although the call for Newsom’s removal was ultimately unsuccessful, Tuesday’s election did reveal that conservative talk radio host Larry Elder has a potential future in California politics.
