Juice WRLD Dives Into His Mental Health Struggles In The Trailer For His Upcoming HBO Max Documentary

This past Thursday marked what would’ve been Juice WRLD’s 23rd birthday. The late rapper died nearly two years ago after a drug overdose at Chicago’s Midway International Airport. Since then, his estate, which includes his mother Ms. Carmella Wallace, has done their best to honor him, releasing new music and conducting philanthropic work in his name. Now HBO Max is preparing to release a documentary about him, entitled Juice WRLD: Into The Abyss, and the platform recently shared a new trailer for the film. The documentary is directed by Tommy Oliver, who previously helmed the 2013 drama 1982 and 2020’s 40 Years A Prisoner, and it’s set to be released on December 16.

In the trailer, Juice WRLD can be seen talking about his struggles with mental health. “When you’re a fan of this sh*t, you look at it from a certain perspective,” he says at one point. “But when you’re in it, you see it for what it really is. I’m still happy I could change the world, but… It’s not what it looks like.” He also says, “If you’ve got anxiety [or] depression, they all look at you like you’re crazy; that’s not how it should be [but] that’s how it is, and that needs to change. And hopefully I’m one of those people that could bring that change.”

The trailer comes after Juice’s estate released a new single, “Wandered To LA,” with Justin Bieber, from his upcoming posthumous album Fighting Demons, which will be released on December 10.

Mach-Hommy Shares New Album “Balens Cho”

Mach-Hommy’s remained one of the most consistent rappers in the underground, though he’s maintained an elusive presence in rap. 2021 has proven to be an extremely fruitful year for the rapper, one where he’s earned co-signs from the biggest rappers in the game (not that he needs it) and released numerous critically acclaimed bodies of work. He reunited with Westside Gunn earlier this year for Pray For Haiti while recently announcing that his back catalog will finally end up on streaming services.

On Friday, the rapper kept the ball rolling with the release of his latest project, Balens Cho (Hot Candles). The 13-song body of work is largely handled by Mach but he brings along a few collaborators for the project. Nicholas Craven holds down several credits as a composer while artists like Tha God Fahim, Fortes, and Sam Gendal also contributed to the project.

Check out the latest from Mach-Hommy below.

GRIP Returns With A Quick-Witted New Single, “Spatula”

On Friday, December 3rd, GRIP unleashed a new track that’s short in length but packs a heavy punch thanks to the Atlanta native’s quick and clever lyricism. The song was produced by Wili Hendrixs, and is the perfect listen to get you amped up before your next workout or on a hyped-up late night drive with your friends.

“Yeah, fiend for the guap, got a key to the lock / And I’m keen, I could spot all the schemes in these plots [ain’t no cream to your crop?] / Clip, got a sixteen piece for a opp’ / They was sleep when I said ‘Meet me at the top’” he spits on the first verse, setting the pace for the rest of the song.

In August, GRIP shared a 17-track project called I Died For This??, including features from Kay Nellz, Kenny Mason, AHYES, Big Rube, Tate 228, Eminem, Dead Casssettes, Wara, Royce Da 5’9”, and Wiley from Atlanta. “Spatula” is his first single since then, and following so many incredible collaborations, it’s easy to see why the “Peaks N Pitfalls” hitmaker wanted to show off his solo skills.

Check out “Spatula” below and leave a quick review in the comments.

Quotable Lyrics:

Got leeches all on my dick, got bitches all on my line
Hoppin’ in my DMs, really divin’ out the deep end
Tryna see if we can be friends, well, that depends
Gotta pretend only for the weekend
And don’t keep tabs on the cash he spend
Smash on the dash while your ass leave him
I know you gotta get laid, but I gotta get paid
I got too many rats on my calendar

LeBron James Criticizes NBA COVID Process: “It Was Just Handled Very Poorly”

The Los Angeles Lakers have been the most compelling team in the NBA thus far this season, and not because of any elite play on the court. Their inconsistency in their first 24 games of the season have led them to a .500 record.

While battling injuries, COVID protocols, chemistry issues and new roster additions, it seems like there is a new issue with the team each week. Their star forward LeBron James has only played in half of the team’s games so far, and they are 7-5 when he is available.

After returning from an abdominal injury that sidelined him for a few weeks, LeBron’s next setback was a positive COVID test on Tuesday (Nov. 30), the day the Lakers were set to play the Sacramento Kings, as the NBA was hoping to curb any COVID outbreak after players came back from being with their families over Thanksgiving. James said, however, the league’s verification process for a positive test was not thorough: “Usually when you have a positive test, they’ll test you right away to make sure. There was not a follow-up test after my positive test. It was straight to isolation and you’ve been put into protocol. That’s the part that kind of angered me. I had to figure out a way to get home from Sacramento by myself. They wouldn’t allow anyone to travel with me, no security, no anything, when I traveled back from Sacramento. And then I had to put my kids in isolation for the time being, the people in my household in isolation for the time being, so it was just a big-time inconvenience. That was the anger part.”

After missing the Kings game, LeBron tested several more times for COVID, as all of his results were negative. He said he figured this would be the outcome, considering he never felt ill from COVID: “I knew I was going to get cleared because I never, ever felt sick at all. I just thought it was just handled very poorly.”

James was able to return to the lineup last night (Dec. 3) to play the cross-town rival Clippers, where the Lakers would lose 119-116. It feels like each game, the Lakers have different players missing, which is likely a cause of LeBron’s frustration.

LA looks to stay healthy moving forward and secure a win Tuesday (Dec. 7) as their other rival, the Boston Celtics, come to town.

Travis Scott & Kylie Jenner’s Canceled W Magazine Cover Leaked Following Astroworld Tragedy

It’s been nearly a month since the crowd surge that claimed the lives of 10 people took place at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival, and the rapper is continuing to face the fallout. It seems that the “YOSEMITE” recording artist had a lot of big plans for the weeks following the event, but in the wake of tragedy, many of them have fallen apart or been delayed.

Not long after the event was ended early, it was revealed that Scott and his pregnant girlfriend Kylie Jenner were expected to grace the cover of an upcoming W Magazine issue. As you may have guessed, employees at the publication realized how tasteless it would be to sell the couple’s faces on newsstands at a time like this, and scrambled to stop delivery trucks that would be dropping them off shortly.

editors have cleared any planned coverage of Travis and Kylie from their website, but the magazine was already printed, and now they are trying to stop the delivery trucks,” an insider told Page Six at the time. “In light of what happened at Astroworld, the interview and cover lines seem inappropriate, to say the least.”

Despite the magazine’s best efforts, a video revealing what the cover shot looked like has leaked online, showing Kylie and the pair’s daughter, Stormi, wearing coordinated yellow looks, complete with feathers on the sleeves. The Houston native can be seen sitting near his partner, seemingly listening to their upcoming arrival’s heartbeat.

As Scott began receiving backlash for what had happened at his show, some speculated that Jenner would leave him, but TMZ reports that “they’re still very much together as a couple.”

Check out the leaked footage of Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott, and Stormi Webster’s W Magazine cover that almost was below.

Virgil Abloh’s 10 Best Off-White x Nike Collaborations, Ranked

Virgil Abloh’s seemingly sudden passing (where the general public was concerned) has hit the streetwear, fashion, and sneaker communities very hard. With Off-White and Louis Vuitton, Virgil was able to turn streetwear into a high fashion enterprise that could be respected and recognized by some of the most legendary designers known to mankind. With that being said, it’s clear that Abloh had a huge influence on the world of fashion, and in death, his legacy will forever live on. He inspired designers from marginalized communities to pursue their passions in spaces that had never been open to them before, and that in and of itself is something to be admired and celebrated.

When it comes to his love child, Off-White, Virgil made huge waves in 2017 as it was revealed that he would be making an entire collection with Nike called “The Ten.” This capsule included ten of Nike’s most beloved silhouettes, and immediately upon release, fans fell in love with these shoes. In the years that followed, Virgil continued to create dope Nike shoes, while even dabbling in Air Jordans along the way. All of these shoes immediately sold out upon release, and throughout 2021, fans have been blessed with even more great Virgil x Nike creations.

To honor Virgil and his impact on the sneaker world, we are counting down our favorite Off-White x Nike collabs that have been released since 2021. There is certainly going to be a lot of debate here, although, we can all agree that every single shoe here is a key part of the legacy Abloh left us with.

10. Off-White x Nike React Hyperdunk

 Nike React Hyperdunk 2017 Flyknit Off-White - AJ4578-100

Image via StockX

To kick off the list, we are going with perhaps the most underrated model from “The Ten” collection. The shoe’s lack of popularity can be chalked up to the fact that at its core, it is a basketball shoe that is meant to be worn on the court. This is not the type of sneaker you will be rocking out in the streets, and as a result, it was left behind a little bit. However, you cannot overstate just how fire this shoe is from a basketball perspective. The all-white colorway complements the silhouette perfectly, and the strap that comes over the top of the foot is a nice little detail that works perfectly with the Off-White aesthetics. If you wear these on the court, you will immediately stand out, which is really all the more reason to cop a pair.

9. Off-White x Nike Blazer Mid (OG Colorway)

Nike Blazer Mid Off-White - AA3832-100

Who doesn’t like some Blazers? Sure, it may not be the most popular Nike silhouette of all time, however, if you are a skater, you can certainly appreciate these. The Blazers have always been fire and the Mid silhouette was the perfect canvas for Virgil’s design philosophy. There were plenty of colorways of this shoe to choose from, however, the OG white and black model remains the best of the bunch. The look of the shoe was just incredibly clean and fans couldn’t help but eat them up when they came out. This version of the Blazer remains the most expensive on the resale market, and even without the economics behind the shoe, you have to give it its props.

8. Off-White x Nike Dunk Low (50-Piece Collection)

Nike Dunk Low Off-White Lot 32 - DJ0950-104

This is one of the harder models to rank here when you consider how there were 50 different colorways of this shoe. For those who don’t remember, this model came out in 2021 and 49 of the 50 variations had the same white and grey color scheme. The big difference was each pair came with a different color of laces. There was this sense of randomness with the collection and it’s something that really excited fans as they had no clue which kind of pair they would get upon delivery. It was a truly unique idea that spoke to Virgil’s creativity as someone who likes to customize. While the colorway of the shoe was nothing special, the story behind it all was perfect, and at the end of the day, you cannot go wrong with a Nike Dunk.

7. Off-White x Air Jordan 2 Low “Red”

Abloh’s final collaboration with Nike was on the Air Jordan 2 Low. The Jordan 2 let alone the Jordan 2 Low, is often a forgotten silhouette amongst sneakerheads. Everyone knows that the Jordan 2 is the shoe that almost forced Michael Jordan to leave Nike. Regardless, Abloh decided to take a chance and in the end, it paid off as he created two very dope colorways. For the purposes of this list, we have chosen the white and red colorway as the better of the two because it has that classy vintage look that also pays homage to Michael Jordan’s days with the Chicago Bulls. With his DIY aesthetics, Virgil was able to make the Air Jordan 2 Low interesting and it got a generation of sneakerheads into an otherwise understated model. Having said that, you have to include the shoe on this list.

6. Off-White x Nike Air Force 1 Low “MCA”

What kind of list would be complete without an Air Force 1 Low somewhere to be found? Virgil Abloh has worked on a few Nike Air Force 1 Lows, however, the one that stands out the most is the “MCA” offering which was released to commemorate Virgil’s exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Contemporary Art. Virgil had a deep love for the arts and it culminated in an all-blue Air Force 1 Low that came with a silver swoosh on the sides. This model immediately drew looks from fans who saw pairs get gifted to big stars like Serena Williams. It remains one of the more limited Off-White releases of all time, and to this day, fans are still trying to get their hands on a pair. In 2019, Virgil was experimenting with louder colors and this shoe was a manifestation of that.

5. Off-White x Air Jordan 5 “Black”

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Air Jordan 5, Jordan Brand released a ton of new colorways and even some dope retros. One of the models they brought out was an Off-White x Air Jordan 5 collab, just in time for All-Star weekend. This shoe was unique thanks to its transparent black colorway and yellow-tinted midsole. Not to mention, the shoe had little windows in the side and even the back heel, which added some personality to the sneaker. It certainly wasn’t the flashiest shoe that Virgil had come out with, but it was still exceptionally clean and drew overwhelmingly positive responses from fans. In fact, this shoe was so good that we got a second colorway called “Sail.”

4. Off-White x Air Jordan 4 “Sail”

Jordan 4 Retro Off-White Sail (W) - CV9388-100

Speaking of “Sail,” we now have the only women’s exclusive shoe on our list. The Off-White x Air Jordan 4 seen above was an immediate hit that even had the men reaching for their wallets. After releasing in 1989, the Air Jordan 4 immediately became an iconic silhouette, and there was no doubt in anyone’s mind that an Off-White version of the shoe would be fire. Instead of going with a classic colorway, however, Virgil threw a curveball at everyone and with a much subtler creamy shade of “Sail” that works exceptionally well with any outfit. Once again, not flashy by any means, but it doesn’t need to be. This was a dope colorway and hopefully, Jordan Brand comes through with some similar models, in the future.

3. Off-White x Nike Air Max 97 “Black”

This might be a bit of a curveball on the list, however, the Air Max 97 is simply one of the best Air Max silhouettes of all time. It is a shoe that fans have always loved, and when it was included as part of “The Ten,” fans were overwhelmed with joy. While the OG colorway certainly has its merits, the all-black model is simply a bit better. With the all-black upper, silver Nike swoosh, and Off-White aesthetics interspersed throughout, this is one of those shoes that is a must-own, if not for the price tag. We can appreciate the regular old Air Max 97s that come out on a weekly basis, although, these are a special breed.

2. Off-White x Nike Air Presto

Nike Air Presto Off-White - AA3830-001

Image via StockX

In the eyes of many, this is the greatest Off-White x Nike collab. When “The Ten” came out in 2017, there were many who argued that these were better than the number one entry on this list. The debates were polarizing, but they were simply done for the love of all things sneakers. The Presto is a beloved model from the 90s and for some reason, it fit Virgil’s vision perfectly. The black and off-white color scheme found above resonated with fans, and the different lace combinations also gave people something to cheer about. To this day, fans are still wondering why we never got a second Presto colorway, however, maybe it’s better that we didn’t. After all, why mess with such obvious magic?

1. Off-White x Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago”

Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White Chicago - AA3834-101

Image via StockX

It might be a cliche at this point, but we don’t care, the Air Jordan 1 High “Chicago” is easily the best shoe Virgil ever produced with Nike. When “The Ten” came out, this was the shoe everyone wanted. The Air Jordan 1 is good enough as it is, but when you combine the shoe’s most iconic colorway with Virgil’s aesthetic, you get a memorable sneaker that needs to be lauded among some of the best shoes to ever hit the market. From the “Air” on the midsole so the writing on the sides and even the flaps near the cuff, this was a sneaker you had to own. Unfortunately, scalpers have made these a holy grail that requires a lot of dough to add to your collection. Regardless, this is one of those shoes that is on par with Kanye West’s infamous Red Octobers. Even if you hated the Air Jordan 1, you have to respect these to some capacity.

Let us know which of these shoes are your favorite, in the comments below.

Brittany Renner & PJ Washington Trade Shots On Twitter

Things have been rocky for Brittany Renner and PJ Washington in the past few months. The two share a child together, which some have accused Renner of using as her come-up.

 Jesse Grant/Getty Images

Renner already established her name in Internet circles but it’s now helped her secure a gig as a college speaker, apparently. Deion Sanders had Renner speak to his team about the potential risks involved with dealing with women on the Internet. “You’re trying to make it to the NFL, you do understand there’s a lot that comes with that right? To be able to decipher who really loves you for you, I think that’s the billion-dollar question we’re all wanting to know,” she said.

Shortly after, it appeared that PJ Washington responded to Renner’s appearance at Jackson State University. Washington let off a slew of vague tweets, calling for an unnamed individual to “stop the cap” and claiming that people are living “fake lives” out here.

Renner quickly fired back on Twitter, calling out Washington for his passive-aggressiveness. “MY @ BUTTON WORKS,” she wrote in one tweet. In another, she said that she had a slew of recordings and screenshots available to unleash at any given moment. “I have 127 screenshots and 30 videos… what you wanna do?” she tweeted.

Washington has yet to respond to her publicly but we’ll keep you posted if he does.

Check out the back-and-forth below.

Get Into An “Empire State Of Mind” In Honour Of JAY-Z’s 52nd Birthday

It’s December 4th, which means that today, hip-hop icon JAY-Z turns 52. The rapper has had a huge year, so to celebrate with him we’ll be streaming classic throwback hits all day, including 2009’s  “Empire State Of Mind,” featuring Alicia Keys.

Whether you’re a New Yorker or not, you have to admit that there’s something about the four minute and 36-second long song that gets you excited for and inspired by the bright lights of the Big Apple. As a Brooklyn native, remembering and paying tribute to where he came from remains an incredibly important theme throughout Jay’s discography.

Seeing as he only lasted about a day on Instagram, we likely won’t be getting too many sneak peeks into how the father of three chooses to celebrate this year – we can only speculate that he’ll do it big, in true Hova style.

Which JAY-Z track do you have on repeat today? Drop a comment and let us know.

Sittin’ courtside, Knicks and Nets give me high five
N*gga I be Spike’d out, I could trip a referee (come on, come on, come on)

Roddy Ricch Thanks His Fans Ahead Of New Album

We are now less than two weeks away from Roddy Ricch’s sophomore studio album LiveLifeFast. The Compton melodic sensation dropped his most recent project Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial in December 2019, and has been preparing for his new release all of 2021.

On Friday (Dec. 3), a few days after revealing the album’s cover and release date, Roddy posted a message for his fans, thanking them for continuing to support him in his hiatus: “I wanna take time out to appreciate all my fans that stayed down with my even though I’ve always been the artists to take my time with the pictures I paint through this music sh*t. I appreciate every DM, every ticket bought, every stream, every album bought, every piece of love the world has shown me in the time I’ve been known in this light.”

He continues to build up his fanbase, explaining how they changed his life for the better: “I appreciate every supporter who been down wit Roddy since DAY 1. Y’all forever changed my life and my family’s life and I’m forever grateful.”

While creating LiveLifeFast, Roddy told his fans he refused for there to be any skips on the album, which was the reason it took so long for him to finish the project. To close his statement, he explains how difficult life was at times while he was out of the spotlight: “These few years I’ve been out the way weren’t the easiest but I always try to stay optimistic in all situations and keep a focused brain. Coming into the amounts of success and monetary gain while young is challenging but KINGS and QUEENS can be any age and still have to fight their battles. I LOVE U ALL. Live Life Fast – RR”

It appears Roddy is in a great headspace ahead of his forthcoming album, and fans cannot wait to hear what he’s been cooking up over the past two years.
