Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Becomes L.A. Dodgers’ Anthem For World Series Win

Kendrick Lamar took over the rap world for a couple of months this year thanks to his battle with Drake, and “Not Like Us” is the anthem that we will remember the beef through… for better or worse. No matter your thoughts on the showdown or on the song itself, you can’t deny that the track took on a new life of its own for not only Los Angeles hip-hop, but for the city of L.A. in all of its many facets. For example, the Dodgers recently used the song to celebrate their World Series win after it soundtracked their post-season. “They not like us” is certainly a phrase worthy of competitive sports, and they backed up their bravado with a dub.

However, when Kendrick Lamar explained the track’s meaning in his eyes during a conversation with SZA for Harper’s BAZAAR, fans raised their eyebrows. “Not like us? Not like us is the energy of who I am, the type of man I represent,” he stated. “Now, if you identify with the man that I represent… This man has morals, he has values, he believes in something, he stands on something. He’s not pandering. He’s a man who can recognize his mistakes and not be afraid to share the mistakes and can dig deep down into fear-based ideologies or experiences to be able to express them without feeling like he’s less of a man. If I’m thinking of ‘Not Like Us,’ I’m thinking of me and whoever identifies with that.”

L.A. Dodgers Claim World Series Victory To The Tune Of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us”

Regardless of what you think of that breakdown, Kendrick Lamar’s spirit is not a new one in hip-hop, nor will it be an old one in the distant future. Ice Cube recently explained why he lyrically compared himself to K.Dot on his new song, explaining that they are both “provocative” artists.

Meanwhile, a lot of folks are excited or at least curious about Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show next year in New Orleans. Cash Money alums Juvenile and Mannie Fresh recently expressed they’d be down to join if Kendrick invites them. Maybe Lil Wayne will have a different answer considering his relationship with Drake, but in any case, fans hope that it won’t be a complete ego fest and that he pays homage to other MCs and art forms, particularly from Louisiana.

Ashanti Delivers Impressive National Anthem Performance At The World Series In New York

It’s been an incredibly busy year for Ashanti. The songstress welcomed her first child in July with Nelly and revealed that the two of them got married last December. She’s also been hard at work performing, hitting the gym, and more. Yesterday, she even performed the national anthem ahead of Game 4 of the World Series.

Unsurprisingly and per usual, her vocals were extremely impressive and earned big reactions from fans in attendance. This included her husband Nelly, who was quick to commend her afterwards. In a sweet clip he shared on his Instagram Story, he couldn’t contain his pride. “You did a great job!” he repeated before kissing her. “That’s how we do it! That’s how them Haynes do it, baby!

Fans Cheer For Ashanti As She Performs National Anthem

Ashanti’s performance took place after Fat Joe’s the day prior. He provided fans with a medley of hits like “Lean Back” and “All The Way Up.” Unfortunately, many social media users felt like he failed to live up to Ice Cube’s performance ahead of Game 1, which received universal praise. Ashanti’s national anthem performance isn’t the only thing she’s celebrating as of late, however. Earlier this month, she turned 44 and celebrated alongside loved ones at a birthday bash.

Of course, Nelly hopped online at the time to share a sweet montage from the party and to wish her a happy birthday with a heartfelt message. “Happy Bday To the most beautiful woman in the world,” he wrote. “Putting Smiles on your face is something i wake thinking about and the thing I love doing the most… grateful to have someone who loves and appreciate me as much as I do them … love you mama.” What do you think of Ashanti performing the national anthem ahead of Game 4 of the World Series? How did she do? What about Nelly’s reaction to the impressive performance? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Fat Joe Gets Ruthlessly Clowned For His Performance At Yankees Game

The 2024 MLB season is almost over already and it’s looking like the Los Angeles Dodgers are going to be crowned the champions. After a stunning win in Game 1 of the World Series in L.A. thanks to Freddie Freeman’s walk-off grand slam, they would take care of business a day later in Game 2. With things shifting to New York last night, fans and the players especially were feeling the pressure down 0-2. However, they also had to be pretty excited as it was the first World Series game at Yankee Stadium in 15 years.

Helping get everyone ready for the most important game of their season was Bronx native and rapper, Fat Joe. If you know anything about him, he’s a Yankees and Knicks die hard so there really wasn’t anyone better for the occasion. Unfortunately, there seemed to be some pretty harsh technical difficulties throughout his pre-game performance. Joe performed a medley of hits, including “All The Way Up” and “Lean Back.” Fans and even some of the players seemed to be into the show, but there has been an even larger camp that’s ripping it to pieces.

The Internet Trolls Are Having A Field Day With Fat Joe

“Yankees already lost before Game 3 with this one. 🤣” “This was terrible, my daughter cried,” another jokes in the YouTube comments section. “He really set the tone last night,” someone else added. A few were also pointing out how Joe seemed to have a hard time with breath control and not being able to keep up with his verses anymore. But some people were getting straight up disrespectful, by attributing his health and age as reasons for the inconsistent performance. Hopefully, Fat Joe ignores the backlash and continues to do what he loves.

What are your thoughts on Fat Joe’s performance at Game 3 of the World Series? Is it really that bad, or where there just technical issues? Do the Los Angeles Dodgers close out the Yankees in Game 4? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Fat Joe. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the worlds of sports and music.

Fat Joe And The New York Yankees Get Near-Universally Roasted For The Rapper’s World Series Performance

Before the second game of the World Series this past weekend, Ice Cube stood before the Dodger Stadium crowd in Los Angeles and performed his classic hit “It Was A Good Day.” So, when Game 3 of the series between the LA Dodgers and the New York Yankees shifted back to NYC yesterday (October 28), the Yankees had an answer.

As the New York Post notes, Joe Torre, CC Sabathia, Gary Sheffield, Dave Winfield, and Derek Jeter, the latter of whom threw out the ceremonial first pitch, participated in pre-game festivities. Then there was Bronx native Fat Joe, who delivered renditions of “Lean Back” and “All The Way Up.”

However, the consensus appears to be that Joe’s part didn’t go so well: Following the performance, Joe was one of the top-trending topics on X (formerly Twitter), and not because people were flooding the platform with praise.

One user wrote, “I’m not a hater, BUT Fat Joe opening up for the Yankees might be one of the worst things I’ve ever seen. I think they got him on SALE 50% OFF.” Somebody else said, “Fire whoever from the Yankees thought that was a good idea to have Fat Joe do whatever that was. I’m literally speechless at wtf I just watched. We don’t even deserve to win after that performance. George Steinbrenner would ban Fat Joe from Yankee Stadium after that.”

Another user wrote, “Me checking Twitter to make sure I’m not the only one who thought that Fat Joe intro was a miss.”

The Yankees would go on to lose the game 4-2, falling to 0-3 in the best-of-7 series.

The 2024 World Series is off to an impressive start, with Fox reporting record-breaking viewership for Saturday Game 2 of the Yankees-Dodgers matchup. The game drew 13.4 million viewers, marking the best Game 2 ratings since 2018, despite a slight dip from Game 1’s 15.2 million viewers.

Game 1, a nail-biting extra-innings win for the Dodgers, sparked excitement that continued into Game 2 as the Dodgers secured another victory. The series now averages 14.5 million viewers across networks, the strongest World Series start in seven years.

Expectations are high, with the Dodgers aiming for a Game 3 win despite a shoulder injury to star hitter Shohei Ohtani. Game 3 is on Monday from The Bronx.

Texas Rangers Win First World Series In Franchise History

The Texas Rangers are World Series champions after a 5-0 Game 5 shutout against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A pitching gem from Nathan Eovaldi and some clutch top-of-the-order hitting helped make history for the 62-year-old franchise. Shortstop Corey Seager was named World Series MVP, becoming just the second position player after Reggie Jackson to win the award multiple times. Seager was previously named World Series MVP with the Dodgers in 2020. Furthermore, Game 5 came exactly 13 years after the Rangers lost the 2010 World Series to the Giants. In a twist of fate, then-Giants manager Bruce Bochy was the one to lead the Rangers to this year’s title.

Beyond a 9-1 drubbing in Game 2, the Rangers were in firm control of the World Series from start to finish. Arizona was never able to find a consistent answer to the Rangers, especially the team’s penchant for late-inning heroics. Furthermore, the Rangers were unstoppable on the road throughout the playoffs. They went a perfect 11-0 away from Globe Life Field.

Rangers Make History

“We’ve just got a group of winners. When the bus driver’s driving slow, we tell him, `Hey man, you know you’re driving a group of winners,’ so we believed it through and through. Maybe we struggled at home, but we got it done on the road, and we’ve got a special group,” first baseman Nathaniel Lowe said after the shutout win. Meanwhile, starter Nathan Eovaldi, 5-0 on the postseason, praised the team effort. “I kind of joked around: I don’t know how many rabbits I have in my hat. I didn’t really do a great job tonight in attacking the zone. But our defense, incredible again.”

With the Rangers’ win, just five MLB teams remain without a World Series title. The Rockies, Brewers, Mariners, Padres, and Rays are all without a Fall Classic trophy. Furthermore, the Mariners remain the only team in the league without a World Series appearance. However, with the World Series decided, the league turns to an equally historic offseason. Leading the free agency class is Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani, who is widely expected to leave the Angels and pursue a winning culture.

During the game, Kelce was featured on the big screen at Globe Life Field stadium while Swift’s 2014 song played. He jammed along in his seat in the stands. While Swift wasn’t in attendance at Friday’s game, she has traveled to watch plenty of Kelce’s games with the Kansas City Chiefs in recent weeks. In doing so, she’s watched on from the family suite. Kelce’s dad, Ed, recently spoke with PEOPLE about what it’s been like having her with them. “We’re sitting in the suite, she gets up and in the front room, she gets up to go get a drink or something and she starts picking up empty bottles, cans, plates that are scattered around. Because in the suites everybody gets stuff and you empty it down wherever you can. And I’m just thinking, I don’t think she got the diva memo. She didn’t get the spoiled musician. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really to me said a whole lot,” Ed told the outlet.
