The WNBA and Delta Air Lines have officially partnered, making Delta the Official Airline Partner of the league. This multiyear agreement builds on Delta’s existing WNBA charter program relationship and underscores the airline’s commitment to supporting women’s athletics.

“We’re proud to partner with the WNBA, where every game is a testament to our shared values of teamwork and perseverance,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian. “We look forward to serving these incredible athletes on their journeys and furthering Delta’s support of women’s athletics.”

“Delta Air Lines shares the league’s commitment to excellence and innovation and is a dedicated partner in the work to uplift and empower women’s sports,” said WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert. “As an airline partner of the WNBA, this partnership not only elevates the travel experience for the players, but also underscores Delta and the WNBA’s shared dedication to enhancing the growth and visibility of women’s sports. With Delta’s support, we are eager to bring the WNBA to new heights and connect with fans in meaningful ways.”

Earlier this season, Delta expanded its charter services to encompass all 12 WNBA teams throughout the regular season and playoffs. This extended partnership will enhance Delta’s role in promoting the league through various media channels, including broadcast, digital, print, and social media.

Delta will also leverage its position to tell travel-related stories about WNBA teams and players, showcasing their journeys both on and off the court. As the Official Airline of Champions, Delta has flown 75 championship teams across numerous sports leagues since 2000, including the 2023 WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces. All eight playoff teams in the recent WNBA postseason traveled with Delta.

This new partnership aligns with Delta’s ongoing focus on elevating women’s sports and enhancing the fan experience through travel.

Flau’jae Joins Forces With BIA And Lakeyah On Culture Jam’s ‘Can’t Get Enough’

Baton Rouge, Louisiana has become one of the hotbeds for the explosion of popularity in women’s basketball, as the LSU Tigers became a national powerhouse, led by stars Angel Reese and Flau’jae Johnson. Part of what made that LSU squad stand out wasn’t just their dominance on the floor, but the larger than life personalities of their top stars, who have ascended to superstardom on and off the court.

Reese has taken her talents to the WNBA, where she’s taken the league by storm as a rookie, setting a WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles and continuing her on-court rivalry with former Iowa and current Indiana Fever star rookie Caitlin Clark at the pro level. Off the court, Reese has dipped a toe into the worlds of music and fashion, and she’s become hip-hop’s favorite WNBA rookie.

Flau’jae, meanwhile, will be returning to LSU this fall but has also seen her star continue to grow this summer, as she dropped her debut rap album, Best of Both Worlds, in late June — with some features from star artists like Lil Wayne. She performed at the ESPYs and was all over WNBA All-Star Weekend in Phoenix, which included dropping a new track “Can’t Get Enough” with Culture Jam alongside BIA and Lakeyah. The music video for the song released on Wednesday, showing the artists making a road trip from L.A. to Phoenix for WNBA All-Star, and the song will be the official track for the WNBA on ESPN.

“Being part of ‘Can’t Get Enough’ with BIA and Lakeyah has been amazing,” Johnson said in a release. “This track is all about celebrating the strength and power of women in sports and music. It’s an honor to work with Culture Jam, the WNBA, and ESPN to bring this anthem to life. We’re bringing the energy, the passion, and the love for the game.”

Antonio Brown Roasts Brittney Griner After Trump’s WNBA Comments

Donald Trump courting controversy is nothing new. The former President has staked his career and public persona on it. Trump hit on the topic of transgender participation in sports during his speech at the RNC, and he took a predictable route. He’s against it. “We will not have men playing in women’s sports,” he declared. “That will end immediately.” The internet was irate, the RNC crowd was pleased, and Antonio Brown decided to troll. The former all-star athlete decided to hop on Twitter to absolutely roast WNBA stalwart Brittney Griner.

Antonio Brown reposted the Donald Trump quote and directed at Griner. He claimed that the athlete would have to retire if Trump gets his way, implying that she was transgender. “Congrats to Brittany Griner on a great career,” he tweeted. He also included the hashtag to his network, #CTESPN. AB’s targeted the WNBA star in the past. Followers don’t even have to scroll that far back on his Twitter to determine the last time Brown mocked her appearance. On June 13, Brown tweeted: “Brittney Griner is definitely a dude.” The comment drew intense backlash from WNBA fans and the LGBTQ community.

Antonio Brown Has Bullied Brittney Griner In The Past

Antonio Brown may have used a politician’s remarks as a launchpad for a diss, but he didn’t need Trump to sound off about the WNBA. The former NFL player has taken repeated shots at both the organization and its athletes. The same day he attacked Griner, he dismissed the WNBA by claiming that people don’t actually watch it. “So when you’re arguing about it,” he tweeted. “You’re not arguing about a professional sport. It’s more of just a charity for lesbians.” For good measure, AB insulted Caitlin Clark during his rant, likening her to actor Mel Gibson in appearance. None of these comments went over well.

Like the President he quoted, however, Antonio Brown has built his brand on controversy. He knows this, and continues to lean into it. When asked why he chooses to make bold statements or attack others, the ex-NFL star told CBS News that he was being authentic. “Everything I did, I did it because my heart believed that was what I needed to do,” he explained. “And in life, sometimes you got to listen to your heart because that’s the only way I could go to sleep at night.” Expect AB to catch heat for his latest comment, and then prepare for whatever the next one will be.

A’ja Wilson Roasts Teammates For Wanting Photos With Usher After Loss

Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson poked fun at her teammates for wanting photos with Usher after an upset loss to the Chicago Sky. Usher set up shop in Vegas for two and a half years. His residency reportedly netted him over $1 million per show. The shows were star-studded affairs. Celebrities from Kim Kardashian to Keke Palmer made the trip to see the R&B legend live. Wilson, the two-time WNBA MVP and two-time champion, hoped to see Usher at the parade after the team won their first title in 2022. It did not happen. After two years, Usher finally made it to an Aces game.

Unfortunately, it was not to see an Aces win. The Sky stunned Vegas on their home court, winning 93-85 behind 34 points from Chennedy Carter and another double-double for rookie Angel Reese. After the game, a live mic picked up Wilson’s remarks. “They ain’t did sh*t all day, but they want to take a motherf**king picture with Usher,” she said to teammate Sydney Colson.

At the end of the clip, A’ja Wilson also hugged Usher. She gave him a jersey and finally got the picture she hoped for two years ago. The Aces are one of the best teams in the WNBA, so one loss won’t get them down. Based on their social media antics, morale is high in the Vegas locker room. They can threepeat. If they do, they’d join the Houston Comets as the only teams in WNBA history to win three consecutive championships.

As for Wilson individually, she has had a great year. She’s getting her own signature sneaker with Nike, which is releasing in 2025. Wilson is also playing career-best basketball. She’s been the favorite for both Most Valuable Player and Defensive Player of the Year since the season started. In nine days, she will have the chance to add a second Olympic gold medal to a growing trophy case. After a rocky start, the Aces are 10-2 in their last 12 games and do not look like they’re slowing down any time soon. Now, they can also say they got their long-awaited photos with Usher.

Las Vegas Aces Star A’ja Wilson Was Hilariously Eager To Name Beyoncé As The Artist She Wants To Do A Vegas Residency

Las Vegas isn’t just where artists go to do long-term residencies when they need a break from touring. It’s also the home of several sports teams, including the WNBA’s Aces, who played the Indiana Fever on ESPN last night. Naturally, ESPN anchor Michael Eaves asked the Aces star forward A’ja Wilson after the game if there were any artists she wanted to see perform a residency in Vegas. The WNBA’s best player didn’t even let Eaves get the question out before responding with a relatable, one-word answer: Beyoncé.

“She doesn’t even have to come here for a residency,” she conceded. “She could just come to a game and just say ‘what’s up’ to us, and we’re fine, ’cause I know she got other stuff to do. Beyoncé, girl…”

With the WNBA increasing in popularity lately, it doesn’t sound like a pipe dream (I, personally, am disappointed that Bey hasn’t hit up a game yet, though — maybe she was waiting for the Houston Comets to come back). The Chicago Sky’s rookie forward Angel Reese recently joined Megan Thee Stallion on stage during her tour stop in the Windy City, and the Phoenix Mercury duo of Brittney Griner and Natasha Cloud got Meg’s attention to invite her to a game when her tour reached the Valley of the Sun. Additionally, the W has been making in-roads into the world of music, tapping Kehlani to perform at last year’s All-Star Game and to narrate the launch video for the expansion team, the Golden State Valkyries. If Beyoncé does give the league a co-sign, its skyrocketing popularity would be supercharged, for sure.

Angel Reese Sets New Double-Double Record in WNBA, Named BET Awards Sports Woman of the Year

angel reese

Angel Reese made history despite the Chicago Sky’s 70-62 defeat to the Minnesota Lynx, securing her 10th consecutive double-double of the season. With 10 points and 16 rebounds, Reese broke the WNBA record for consecutive double-doubles in a single season.

Reese, chosen seventh overall by Chicago in the draft after a trade with Minnesota, struggled with her shooting, making just 4-of-16 from the field and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line. However, she managed to reach double digits with a crucial free throw in the final seconds of the game.

Her remarkable achievement adds to her accolades, as Reese was also honored as BET’s 2024 Sports Women of the Year. Despite the loss, Reese’s performance underscores her impact in the WNBA and her growing reputation as a dominant force in women’s basketball.

Angel Reese was spotted riding in a car with G Herbo in Chicago over the weekend after she and the Sky defeated the Indiana Fever 88-87. Neither Reese nor Herbo has confirmed it’s actually them in a video circulating online, but nevertheless, fans have been running with the idea on social media. The video itself was taken by a fan in the next car over on the road and features the caption: “Chicago things.”
