This week, The Rocket Foundation once again partnered with The White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention (OGVP) for the Fortune Impact Initiative at the St. Regis in Atlanta, GA. The event featured Turning Pain Into Purpose: A Conversation On Gun Violence, moderated by Fortune Magazine’s Executive Editor Kristin Stoller. The panel included OGVP Deputy Director Greg Jackson, the late Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport, and his grandmother Edna Maddox.
The conversation focused on the devastating loss of loved ones to gun violence and the ongoing mission to prevent others from facing similar tragedies. Davenport reflected on the pain of losing her son, Migos member Kirsnick Khari Ball, known as Takeoff, who was fatally shot on November 1, 2022. She emphasized the need to “grow and go” by turning grief into action.
The panel discussed the disparities between urban and rural approaches to gun violence prevention, particularly in the South, and called for a nationwide response to the crisis.
This marks the third collaboration between The Rocket Foundation and the White House OGVP, following their inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit on June 18th. Held at Atlanta’s Carter Center, the summit honored Takeoff’s legacy on his 30th birthday, bringing together 300 attendees, including gun violence prevention organizations, survivors, and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, to discuss solutions to gun violence across the country.
For some reason, the White House seemingly played Travis Scott and Playboi Carti’s “FE!N,” which rang all around the surrounding area of Lafayette Square, or at least, from what a recently surfaced video can gather. Given that you can hear a lot of commotion and what sounds like chants in the background, plus the “Free Gaza” message that is displayed in the video, conspiracy theories emerged that officials played music to quell protestors calling for the United States to advocate for a ceasefire in the Israel and Palestine conflict. Thousands gathered around the government building, and since this clip is from the nighttime, it’s unclear what the status of these protests were at the time.
In addition, it’s important to consider that the city of Washington, D.C. celebrated its annual Capital Pride events this weekend as well, so there was a lot going on in the city both indifferent to and against government action. We can’t confirm whether or not this was actually the case for Travis Scott and Playboi Carti’s “FE!N,” so take this interpretation with a grain of salt. What we do know is that the duo will both probably perform this song either together or separately at Chicago’s Summer Smash festival from Lyrical Lemonade next week. As one of the most explosive mainstream rap hits of the past year, it should make for a pretty cool moment.
Elsewhere, we’re sure that Travis Scott and Playboi Carti will continue to stretch “FE!N” out to its maximum potential and replay value. They’ve played it over and over again at concerts, gave SNL a nice rendition, performed it at the Grammys, and so much more. Hopefully this White House cameo is all a big misunderstanding. Using that track as a way to silence protestors would be an ugly evolution for it.

Elsewhere, Damian Lillard refused to be baited by TMZ when asked about any potential relationship links to Glo. When asked if he was aware that the rapper had shot her shot with him, Lillard simply smiled and offered a “no comment”. Glo put her claim down on Lillard at the All-Star Game, posting up with the MVP and getting thirsty on main about her desire for him.
Of course, Lillard is currently a free agent in the dating realm. In October, Lillard filed for divorce from his wife Kay’La. Lillard filed the motion in Clackamas County Circuit Court and the news was first reported by the Willamette Week. However, Lillard’s filing cites “irreconcilable differences” and suggests that the couple has been living apart since December 2022. The couple have three children together – a five-year-old and two-year-old twin daughters.

At the reception, Biden signed a new executive order to improve research on women’s health and pledge $200 million over the next year to better understand sexual and reproductive conditions and more. “I’m going to make sure women’s health is prioritized across the government,” Biden told the room.
