USC sophomore standout JuJu Watkins has secured a lucrative multiyear contract extension with Nike, making it one of the most significant shoe endorsement deals in women’s basketball, according to ESPN.

Nike officials concluded discussions on the deal, with negotiations led by Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul and Watkins’ team, which includes agent Jade-Li English, head of marketing Eric Eways, and vice president of basketball marketing Brittany McCallum.

Watkins initially signed with Nike in October 2022 while still in high school, and this extension cements her place as a rising star in women’s sports, both on and off the court.

Drakeo The Ruler Wrongful Death Lawsuit Receives Frustrating Update

The West Coast and the hip-hop world in general lost a true legend in Drakeo the Ruler back in 2021. If you remember, he was tragically stabbed backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. event. Specifically, the festival took place at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, very close to the Los Angeles Coliseum. That’s where the USC Trojans play. So, because of their proximity to that 2021 show, they were included in the wrongful death lawsuit.

Live Nation and others were also included in the paperwork, and the former tried to file a motion to dismiss their involvement in 2023. However, the entertainment company is not out of the woods, as the judge ruled against that. Now, according to AllHipHop, USC is also trying to wiggle their way out of the suit as of August 29. The judge overlooking this case, Judge Kerry Bensinger, is already lined up to consider the motion at a hearing on November 18.

Drakeo The Ruler’s Case Remains Unsolved

The university had a few statements trying to prove that they aren’t culpable in any way. “The backstage area where [Drakeo] was attacked was not a part of the Coliseum property, the Sports Arena property or any property leased or controlled by USC”. Later, university lawyers added, “USC was not involved in the production of the music festival itself. It was not involved in selecting the performers, setting the performance schedule or determining how many all-access passes any artist would be allocated”.

Overall, it’s extremely saddening to discover yet another setback. Hopefully, Drakeo’s family will get some sort of justice sooner than later. In a groundbreaking move, Reggie Bush is set to reclaim his 2005 Heisman Trophy, according to ESPN sources. The Heisman Trust is expected to formally announce the “reinstatement” of the trophy to Bush, citing “enormous changes in the college football landscape.”

Bush was ousted from Heisman status in 2010 for receiving improper benefits during his tenure with USC. The college also was subject to sanctions.

Bronny James is easily one of the most hyped up players in college basketball, even if his stats aren’t reflective of the media coverage. Overall, his first season with USC was a difficult one. While he was solid on defense, he didn’t do much offensively. However, he did have a difficult road to get in the lineup considering he had a cardiac arrest in the offseason. Either way, fans have been a bit concerned about his development. Even LeBron had to step back at one point and tell people to cut his kid some slack.

Recently, a rumor circulated that Bronny would be entering the transfer portal and leaving USC. Today, Bronny revealed that he was actually making a much more crucial decision. The son of LeBron James is now entering the NBA Draft. Furthermore, he is going to maintain his college eligibility, just in case no one wants to take him. Lastly, he will also enter the transfer portal for good measure. No matter what, he has played his final game for the Trojans.

JuJu Watkins is just 24 games into her college career, but she has already taken the game by storm. An electric shooter, Watkins has 675 points to her name already and pundits are already wondering if she will go on to break the record Caitlin Clark hasn’t finished setting. But now, fans are clamoring for something else from the USC freshman – a signature shoe. “JuJu Watkins should be the first college hooper to have a signature shoe. Get it done now,” Nate Jones wrote on X.

However, not everyone was on board with the idea. “Not when she hasn’t won any thing compared to women of Troy and Cheryl Miller Cynthia Cooper she’s great but we need to see them cutting down the ribbon first and she’s a freshman come on man,” one person wrote in response to Jones. The records might be hers, but Clark is far from done. Iowa is third in the Big Ten standings with a 12-3 conference record. Barring a complete collapse from Ohio State, the regular season title is likely out of reach for Iowa. After that comes the Big Ten Tournament and March Madness. With Clark expected to become the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, it would be only fitting for her to end her college career by avenging last year’s National Championship defeat.

However, while Bronny’s diehard supporters claimed that Bronny was proving his god-like hype, other hoop fans weren’t as impressed. Bronny would go on to make just one other basket during the game, finishing with 5 points and 5 rebounds as USC lost 83-77. LeBron James, Bronny’s father, was in attendance for the game and happily embraced his song after the OT loss. Bronny played 28 minutes but continued to be a non-factor for the Trojans as they dropped to 3-9 in conference play and dead last in the Pac-12. USC was projected to finish 2nd in the preseason media poll.

While the life-changing circumstances of Bronny’s cardiac arrest last July must be considered, the son of one of basketball’s greatest players is simply not living up to the hype. He is currently averaging 5.8/3.0/2.5 a game and has completely fallen out of most NBA mock drafts. However, Bronny still commands a rabid fanbase who believe that he is poised to take over from his father in the NBA, despite the subpar basketball that he is playing.

Austin Rivers And Stephen Jackson Feud About Bronny James

Meanwhile, the topic of Bronny recently sparked a feud between Austin Rivers and Stephen Jackson. Jackson called Rivers “trash” and “a scrub” after Rivers spoke about Bronny on ESPN. Lebron James Watches Bronny’s USC Game While Doing Media Interviews

Despite how he plays, Bronny can be secure in the knowledge that his dad will always be watching. LeBron James was a little more distracted than usual during his post-game media interviews on January 17 as he tried to watch his son Bronny take on Arizona at the same time. The first indication that James was not giving the media his full attention was when he rebuffed scrum reporters in the tunnel saying he had to go watch Bronny. While James did fulfill his media obligations, he would often look past the reporters to focus on the screen showing the USC game.

However, he focused a little more when one reporter asked him whether it was tougher to lose with the Lakers or watch Bronny and USC struggle. “Watching college basketball alone is tough. Then you add my son in there, it’s even … yeah, yeah, cause I’m … it’s hard to watch. It’s hard to watch. Yeah, I’m a dad, but also, love the game of basketball and college basketball, just, it’s like ten people in the paint at the same time. It’s very hard at times to watch. But USC’s a great program, Arizona’s a great program, you get a good opportunity to watch some good basketball in this game,” James said.
