50 Cent Gives Massive Updates On “Power Book IV: Force” Season 3 & Franchise’s Future

50 Cent and Power series star Joseph Sikora, who plays Tommy, have some bittersweet but nonetheless exciting news when it comes to the future of the franchise. Moreover, on Thursday (June 13), the G-Unit mogul uploaded a video of Sikora on set of Power Book IV: Force, and his remarks on the television empire are quite interesting. This show’s third season will be its last, but he hinted at there being many more surprises and developments for the franchise’s future, so it seems like die-hard fans and longtime viewers won’t be seeing the end of the Power universe just yet.

“This was the perfect opportunity to stay true to our artistic vision and make this the final chapter in Tommy’s journey in Chicago. But don’t worry, Tommy’s journey is far from over with. We’re just getting warmed up. I can’t wait to show you what we have planned next,” Joseph Sikora said of 50 Cent’s Power Book IV: Force. “Tune in, because ghosts never die, and power never ends,” he added towards the end of the clip below, setting the stage for a lot more room for the franchise to grow despite some current controversies around lawsuits and life-threatening drug kingpins.

Furthermore, this also comes amid the announcement that Power Book II: Ghost will end with its fourth season, so some fans think that there will be a big new spinoff announcement soon. Regardless, 50 Cent is happy and grateful to enjoy the current ride and have a blast while he waits for what’s next, as his caption for this announcement indicated. “Im glad all the fans have been so supportive of FORCE,” he shared on IG. “We have more heat coming, my Power Universe is still expanding… wait till you see what I have up my sleeve, you haven’t seen the last of Tommy.”

Meanwhile, 50 Cent also has projects to look forward to outside of the Power universe, such as the upcoming crime doc TikTok Star Murders. There’s a lot on his plate, but it seems like he’s having a grand old time amid all the chaos, success, and kick-offs. Maybe Power is closer to its end than its beginning, but it’s clear that they have such a rich world to tell stories within. Hopefully fans get the satisfying conclusions that they deserve and get more material to look forward to.

Tems & KAYTRANADA Start The Summer On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

“Less is more” is the motto this time around on our new R&B Season playlist update, because even though we were pretty strict with our selections this time around, they all have so much to offer. Of course, one of the big topics of conversation right now is the brand new KAYTRANADA album TIMELESS, which is a pretty fitting description now that we think about it. After all, the crisp and clean production all over this project, the grooves, the melodic sensibilities, and the vocal performances would stun anyone in any era, and it’s a very praiseworthy feat of engaging songwriting and immersive sonic wizardry. If you want to preview it with a highlight, check out the Childish Gambino collab “Witchy” for some amazing chemistry.

Another massive album from the world of R&B-related musicianship this week is the much-anticipated new record from Tems, Born In The Wild. As opposed to the funky and collab-heavy TIMELESS, this release complements it perfectly if you’re interested in checking both of them out if you haven’t already. This new full-length is a more breezy and tender experience with even more spotlit vocal wonder and a more minimal, atmospheric, but nonetheless immediate approach. Check out the Afrobeat and hip-hop-fusing “Free Fall” with J. Cole to get an idea of the beauty the album holds.

Finally, we wanted to shout out Zacari’s “Destiny” as one of, if not the best R&B-adjacent single that dropped this week. It’s a really sweet and catchy cut, and it plays with a lot of elements like scorching guitar, high-toned vocals, grand synths, and bombastic percussion to make something larger than life. These ingredients don’t sound perfectly mixed, but the progressions and evolutions here make it a much easier pill to swallow. In addition, the flange effects and very dramatic presentation give this track a bit of an ’80s touch that goes over pretty solidly.

With previous singles like “Lonewolf Still” in mind, it looks like Zacari is going to drop something pretty impressive in a more long-form manner soon. But regardless, we want to know which of these R&B Season playlist inclusions was your favorite this week. We know we missed a couple, so let us know what other great drops we should’ve added from this week down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest great releases around the clock.

BIA & Denzel Curry Bar Up On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

This hip-hop summer is heating up fast, and our new Fire Emoji playlist update is here to round up the best of the best rap releases that came out this week. First up is Denzel Curry’s grimy and chemistry-championing teaser track for his upcoming album King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2, “HOT ONE” with TiaCorine and A$AP Ferg. Speaking of fiery collaborations this week, BIA came through with a slightly more measured and atmospheric banger, the JID-assisted and melodically engaging “LIGHTS OUT” from the Bad Boys: Ride Or Die soundtrack. Finally as far as massive link-ups, Latto enlisted Flo Milli and Megan Thee Stallion for the “Sunday Service” remix, which is just as bombastic as it sounds.

Next up on Fire Emoji, KAYTRANADA has finally made his studio album return with TIMELESS, and it’s unsurprisingly bouncy, vibrant, and crisp as a full body of work. If you want a solid taster, look no further than “Call U Up” with Lou Phelps. The West Coast and company also had some groovy vibes to offer this week thanks to JasonMartin’s new single with Jay Worthy, Curren$y, Bun B, and DJ Quik, “SINCE I WAS LIL.” On a similar note, Tyga’s trademark Cali production, flow, and demeanor mix well with grand strings and round bass on his new cut “Hello B*tch.”

Elsewhere, folks like Lupe Fiasco are ensuring that our Fire Emoji playlist has proof that you don’t need to turn the skill down to make a beloved banger. His new Samurai single, “Cake,” rolls through intricate rhyme schemes and topical areas with a catchy chorus and an easy-going instrumental. But Moneybagg Yo’s latest track “PLAY DA FOOL” is anything but easy-going thanks to menacing piano chords, overblown percussion, and rapid flows. “Rump Punch” by Cash Cobain takes this speed to a more mellow place with more ethereal synths, minimal and sharp drums, and more relaxed but nonetheless relentless cadences.

Larry June rounds this list’s wavier and more upbeat cuts out with the G-funk-inspired “Dreams,” over which his deadpan delivery works quite charismatically. Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Smino’s new song “Polynesian,” because its vocal dynamism and instrumental lushness are some of the best listening experiences you’ll have with a cut this week. On that note, let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest amazing music drops around the clock.

Young Thug Trial: Prosecutors Reveal Whether Or Not YFN Lucci Will Testify

Yesterday was the 84th day of Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO trial and saw the judge question whether or not another famous rapper would be taking the stand. In a clip from the courtroom, he asks the prosecution if YFN Lucci will testify. This prompted her to confirm that he won’t. “At this juncture, we do not believe he will be testifying,” she explained. Lucci is still on the state’s witness list, however, though he previously refused to testify.

“Any party can announce, for example, that Abraham Lincoln is on their witness list, but those words alone are meaningless,” his attorney Drew Findling told TMZ in late 2022. “So, to be 100 percent clear, Rayshawn Bennett (YFN Lucci) will not be a witness in the YSL case.” He also took to Instagram from prison to double down last year. “Even in a earthquake we wouldnt break n***a know we solid #Free650, he wrote at the time.

Prosecutors “Do Not Believe” YFN Lucci Will Take The Stand

YFN Lucci was first looked at as a potential witness after Young Thug was accused of ordering a hit on him. In 2022, Lucci was stabbed while behind bars, and two YSL affiliates were allegedly behind it. He’s not the only fellow artist whose testimony has been up in the air either. Back in April, Lil Wayne was removed from prosecutors’ long list of potential witnesses. The following month, they tried to introduce clips of Weezy talking about Young Thug as evidence, but the judge refused to accept them unless Lil Wayne testified.

Fans were also curious whether or not Gunna would be taking the stand, particularly amid “snitching” allegations. The state confirmed in April that he will not be testifying. What do you think of prosecutors confirming that YFN Lucci will not be testifying in Young Thug’s ongoing YSL RICO trial? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Kehlani & Lucky Daye Are As Sweet As Ever On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to June, a month that not only kicks off our 2024 summer but has also brought us some killer tracks from the R&B world which we’ve compiled on our latest R&B Season playlist update. Up first is the new Kehlani single “Next 2 U,” whose music video advocates for folks suffering in Palestine in a powerful way. Moreover, the track mixes industrial distortion, heavenly vocals, a crisp percussive treatment, and wavy synths to craft a really unique and engaging cut. Whatever they’ve got cooking up on the upcoming CRASH, it’s sure to be another hit, as everything so far this year has been impressive on all fronts.

Next up is another R&B-rooted, but genre-fusing single, this time from Lucky Daye’s charismatic croons and lovestruck lyrics. “Soft” is anything but, as its energy really comes through thanks to driving guitars, spotlit vocal passion, a funky bassline, and drums that shift between hard grooves and more subtle approaches with ease. As far as the vocal melodies and the syncopation on display here, this is what brings the song its soul and personality to the fullest. Add on top of that a dynamic midway point and some soaring solos at the end, and you’ve got a full plate.

Another R&B Season highlight this week is Jessie Reyez and Big Sean’s “SHUT UP,” whose heavy bass and instantly boisterous flows combine its atmosphere with hip-hop. Still, the vocal delivery from Reyez is as sultry as you might expect from a more soulful cut, so there’s still a lot of stylistic overlap here. As for the Sean Don, he speeds up the cadence and flow a little bit and also rides some extra instrumental embellishments well. Some ethereal background croons give the song a little more room to spread out, but it works in its simplicity.

Normani also continues her 2024 run with “Candy Paint,” a more peppy and minimal single. Finally, we wanted to shout out Muni Long’s “Make Me Forget” for its classic feel and gorgeous vocal runs. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, check back in with HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Eminem & Cardi B Make Magic On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to summer, which will hopefully be 2024’s best season yet thanks to the best of the best hip-hop releases of the first week of June rounded up right here on our new Fire Emoji playlist update. First off, there are two obvious big drops to cover, starting with Eminem’s new single “Houdini.” Not only does this zany track see him paying homage to his career, but also playing with its perception with some of that old comical fire. The other unmissable track to drop this week was the remix of Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla’s “Wanna Be” with Cardi B. As expected, the chemistry here is off the charts, and Bardi’s appearance makes the cut even more confident.

Elsewhere on Fire Emoji, we also have a short but sweet new Palestine-dedicated album from Belly titled 96 Miles From Bethlehem. One of the highlights on it is certainly “Blue Bags,” whose shots of distortion, industrial influences, and eerily looped vocal samples craft an engaging journey. On a more woozy and ethereal note, we have new two-pack single from LUCKI, 2 Faced, Pt. 2, which contains “Heavy On My Heart” and “Courtesy Of.” The latter has a particularly melancholy piano line paired with a peppy drum pattern that’s particularly pleasing to the ear.

Moving forward with our next new single, JasonMartin enlisted Jay Worthy, DJ Quik, and Larry June for the soulful “GURBS & YOUNGS.” The bass definitely carries the track’s funky demeanor, and some light chimes and xylophones really invoke that West Coast spirit. But Fire Emoji also has some classic gritty East Coast raps this week thanks to Meek Mill’s new song “5AM IN PHILLY.” Its main draw is definitely his energetic and passionate rapping, but the minimal beat carries it well.

Also, we wanted to shout out Roddy Ricch’s tender but still hard-hitting cut “Survivor’s Remorse.” Finally, as far as one of the best new releases of the week, Action Bronson came to impress with his bombastic record “Nourish A Thug.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Zacari & Muni Long Take Risks On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Summer is right around the corner, but you don’t need to get right into party mode: our new R&B Season playlist update is here to take you through the best tracks the R&B world had to offer this week to chill you out a little bit before June hits. Leading the pack in that regard is the smoky new single from Zacari, “Lonewolf Still,” which is about as dramatic and moody as the title suggests. Thanks to a slow and minimal trap beat, whirling synths, and a relaxed but still engaging vocal performance, this song really puts you in a zone.

Elsewhere on our R&B Season playlist update is a hot collaboration between two captivating singers in classic and contemporary soul. Moreover, Muni Long and Mariah Carey teamed up for the “Made For Me” remix, which throws it all the way back to the sultry and crisp rhythm and blues bangers from the 2000s. Their vocal performances aren’t soaring here, but their strong melodic control and harmonic chemistry definitely carries the sensual vibes here. Of course, that’s not to say they don’t eventually belt alongside wavy synth patches, but they save those fireworks for fitting moments.

Speaking of collaborations, we also wanted to shout out Offset’s reach into the R&B bag for his feature on Blxst’s latest record, “Risk Taker.” This time around, he’s playing with a dance-inspired sonic pallet that is closer to Afrobeat or reggaetón than it is to R&B, soul, or rap as the artists in charge would have you assume. It’s bright and breezy, and the former Migo comes through with a locked-in flow and luxury-themed lyrics to make this a more potent impression. While it’s not instrumentally idiosyncratic compared to similar sounds, it does showcase both of these artists’ versatility.

Finally, we have two more releases to praise, one being Liza’s new EP The Alternate Ending and the woozy guitars and crisp percussion on “Gasoline.” Our list rounds out with Dirty Danger’s bubbly and dreamy remix of Jorja Smith’s “Backwards,” complete with manipulated sample pitching and quirky electronic embellishments. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season pick was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check out the playlist above and, as always, stick around on HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Island Boys’ Kodiyakredd Insists He Was Taken To Jail For “No Reason”

Over the weekend, it was reported that Island Boys member Franky Venegas, who also goes by Kodiyakredd, was arrested in Fort Lauderdale Friday night for various driving-related offenses. He’s accused of reckless driving, false ID, and operating a vehicle without a valid license. His twin brother and the other half of the musical duo, Flyysoulja, was quick to show him support on social media. “Free him. Flysoulja x kodiyakredd real brother got you,” he wrote on TikTok.

It appears as though the 22-year-old has since been released from police custody after getting booked into the Broward County Jail. In a new clip obtained by Daily Mail, he’s seemingly back at home as he provides fans with an update. According to him, he’s completely unbothered by the arrest. Moreover, he believes he was taken to jail for no reason.

Kodiyakredd Looks Unbothered Following Recent Arrest

“Yo, I’m going to jail for no reason bro,” he said in one clip, which was followed by his update. “I’m out by the way,” he began. “I came out early as f*ck in the morning, y’all know what time it is.” Kodiyakredd continued, lighting up and insisting he doesn’t care at all about his latest legal issues. “I’m gonna be chillin’, I don’t give a f*ck,” he explained. Unfortunately for Kodiyakredd, this wasn’t his first run-in with the police, as he was also arrested in May of last year for alleged domestic battery.

At the time, his then-girlfriend alerted authorities after he allegedly pushed her into a pool at a Florida Airbnb. She was later taken to a hospital and treated for injuries to her chin, legs and arms. He denied the allegations, and the charges were later dismissed. What do you think of the Island Boys’ Kodiyakredd’s update after getting arrested for alleged reckless driving, false ID, and more? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Vince Staples & Sexyy Red Bring The Heat On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

The summer is right around the corner, so don’t forget our new Fire Emoji playlist update to catch you up with the best hip-hop releases of the week before June rolls around. One album we’ll surely be playing all season is the new Vince Staples album Dark Times, on which “Étouffée” is an easy and bouncy highlight amid a lot of lyrical depth and blunt storytelling. Speaking of projects, Sexyy Red also came through with a collection of tracks, In Sexyy We Trust, and you’ve probably already heard of the “BBL Drizzy”-assisted cut “U My Everything” with Drake. Lastly on the LP side of things, “Ice Storm” featuring Smino is definitely a highlight on the new Sango album, North Vol. 2.

Elsewhere on Fire Emoji, we have some killer singles to go over, whether it’s from rising stars or established commercial titans. For a mix of the two, we’d look no further this week than “Grippy,” the new Cash Cobain cut with a solid albeit divisive J. Cole feature. On the other hand, Quavo came through with another 2024 cut with “Clear The Smoke,” which is as confident and boisterous as the title suggests. Along a similar vein, YG’s newest single “Weird” sees him rapping with a lot of assurance and charisma about the weirdness of the rap game.

Rolling further along, we have yet another Cash Cobain appearance on Fire Emoji this week thanks to his feature alongside Charlie Wilson on Don Toliver’s “Attitude.” It follows a similar drill and Jersey-influenced woozy sonic pallet that Cobain’s been so consistent and prolific with over the past couple of years. But this new playlist update also leaves room for family matters (no, not that one… that was a few weeks ago), such as Big Hit, Hit-Boy, The Alchemist and Hitgirl LENA’s “Gank Move.” It’s a nice contrast between gritty drum timbres and watery backing chords, and is likely one of the week’s best lyrical offerings.

Meanwhile, we’re rounding this update out with Central Cee’s “BAND4BAND” featuring Lil Baby, yet another U.K./U.S. crossover from Cench this year. Finally, Key Glock sounds as tough and unwaveringly cool as ever on his new track, “Q-Dogz.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji pick was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments below. Check out the playlist above and, as always, come back to HNHH for more great music drops around the clock.

Key Glock, Mach-Hommy & More Went Full Force On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

HotNewHipHop‘s Fire Emoji playlist is back to round up the best of the best hip-hop releases that came out this week, and we have a nice balance of singles and projects. First up is the latest banger from Key Glock, “F**k Around & Find Out,” which trades out his usual Memphis griminess for a more upbeat bounce. Regardless, Glizock flows like butter on here, and no style in the world can take his city out of his cadence, confidence, or diction. As for one of the best hip-hop albums this week (or year so far, frankly), Mach-Hommy returns with #RICHAXXHAITIAN. While the whole project is stacked with astonishments by every metric, we’d recommend the soulful “SONJE” with Hephzibah as a taster.

Elsewhere on Fire Emoji, the AOTY contenders continue with Rapsody’s Please Don’t Cry, which once again shows off her range and skillset as a top-tier MC. Of course, a Lil Wayne feature on “Raw,” as well as Niko Brim, would raise excited eyebrows, but their chemistry is something that somehow managed to exceed expectations. Another match made in heaven is Chance The Rapper’s collaboration with DJ Premier, “Together.” Star Line Gallery is shaping up to potentially be one of the most tender and touching hip-hop albums of the past couple of years, something that fans can’t wait for.

There’s one more new album we wanted to shout out on Fire Emoji this week, and that’s A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s Better Off Alone. While there are a lot of solo cuts here, the extensive tracklist also provides some solid collabs such as the woozy Cash Cobain team-up, “Body.” In fact, Cobain has another feature on the playlist this week, as NAV remixed Cash and Diany Dior’s “Favorite Lady.” It’s another blend of Jersey club, drill, and more minimal plugg and electronic sounds fused with pop trap, and checks the boxes well enough.

Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Lupe Fiasco’s titular single for his upcoming project, “Samurai,” which is as classy as it is enveloping. If you’re looking for something more energetic, don’t head out before bumping 42 Dugg’s gritty “Win Wit Us.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji release was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check out the playlist above and, as always, check back in with HNHH for more amazing music releases around the clock.
