It is safe to say that Drake may want to put the month of May behind him and in a hurry. Of course, the main reason is because of his highly publicized beef with Kendrick Lamar. A lot of witnesses to one of the biggest feuds in hip-hop history feel that Drizzy caught the L right on the dome. But now, the losses are snowballing, as Drake is down $565,000 dollars after Tyson Fury lost his big-time boxing match with Oleksandr Usyk last night. It was reported yesterday that The Boy was putting his money where his mouth was via the betting giant Stake.

For those who do not follow the sport, the fight between these two decorated athletes was a big deal. According to Sports Illustrated, Usyk became boxing’s first undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis did it in 2000. The Ukranian, who weighed in at 223 pounds, was 21-0 (14 KO) coming into the hyped-up slug fest. On the other side, Fury clocked in decisively heavier at 262 while also being undefeated at 34-1-0 (24 KO).

According to Uproxx, Fury appeared to be in the lead in the early going. However, the things took a quick turn for the favorite in round nine. Most likely the deciding factor in the split decision victory for Usyk, he whaled on him with a mean and clean left hook. He still remains perfect all while taking the bragging rights and glory of claiming the WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF, and IBO titles. While it is a major L for Fury, we can only imagine how Drake is doing after dropping to 0-2 in May.

Drake Lost More Than $500,000 On Tyson Fury’s Loss To Oleksandr Usyk

The biggest heavyweight fight in a very long time took place on Saturday in Saudi Arabia, as undefeated four-belt holder Oleksandr Usyk faced undefeated lineal champ Tyson Fury with the undisputed heavyweight crown on the line.

The fight lived up to the billing, with the two champs impressing at different stages of the fight. Fury, the favorite coming in, looked like he was taking control in the middle rounds until a stunning flurry from Usyk in the ninth round flipped the bout on its head. Usyk rocked Fury with a left that he didn’t see coming, and then chased Fury around the ring, battering him with punches and bouncing him off the ropes before the referee stepped in for an 8-count. Fury would finish the fight, but that 10-8 round was the difference in a Usyk split decision win and a split draw on the cards, giving the slight underdog the win and all five belts.

That ninth round effort will live in the minds of many for some time, with Drake being among them for the wrong reasons. Prior to the fight, Drake posted to Instagram that he had a $565,000 bet on Fury to win, and for a long time that looked like it had a good chance to cash until that ninth round changed everything.

Drake is no stranger to taking some losses this month, as his battle with Kendrick Lamar was a resounding majority decision win for K Dot in the eyes of the public. He tossed a little over half a million onto the fire by backing Fury, as a tough May continues for The Boy.

Drake may have just lost a battle to Kendrick Lamar in fans’ eyes, but he’s placing big bets on another fight that, instead of losing him power or respect, will only lose him one thing if it misses: money. Moreover, he placed $565,000 via Stake on Tyson Fury to beat Oleksandr Usyk in their upcoming heavyweight championship match on Saturday night (May 18), which will crown the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. If The Boy is successful in his bet on this Saudi Arabia-located match, he would win a payout of $1 million. So it’s all in for the OVO mogul, and we’ll see what happens in the ring to lift or plummet his spirits.

For those unaware, boxing fans looked forward to this match-up for a long time, especially after a delay back in February due to Tyson Fury’s training injury. However, some fans are also wary of whether or not the mythical and confirmation bias-heavy “Drake curse” will strike again. For those unaware, it’s a joke that the Toronto superstar often backs the losing team across sports, although he has more victories than people would like to give him credit for. Beyond this upcoming bout, Drake also has some other things to look forward to for 2024, including an invite to Michael Rubin’s White Party. It’s a massive annual celebrity bash full of A-listers, so we don’t doubt that it will provide some curious moments and narratives like it does every year. Most of all, it will be a nice reprieve after the absolute onslaught that was the Kendrick Lamar battle. Even the 6ix God needs a Sunday or two to rest, let alone after a pummeling.

Meanwhile, people are still chiming in on who won the beef, although public consensus seems decidedly in Kendrick Lamar’s favor. But Drake didn’t go down as many others in previous rap beefs have, and we’re sure he still has the fire to throw out subliminals and continue to focus on his flexing. Maybe the future will hold more developments in their rivalry. Still, we wouldn’t bet on anything as large-scale, relentless, or brutal as the past few weeks happening again.

Tyson Fury’s Dad Left Bloody After Violent Per Fight Scrap

Before this weekend’s huge bout, Tyson Fury’s father, John, headbutted a member of Oleksandr Usyk’s entourage. Fury’s dad went utterly wild, leaving a bloody mess in his wake. The fight between Fury and Usyk is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, but when the camps of the Gypsy King’s fathers met on Monday, they had to get in on the combat. John approached the Ukrainian fighters group, and while “Fury” and “Usyk” yells echoed throughout the room, a chaotic confrontation broke out. John was seen headbutting someone at the front of the group despite being outnumbered.

Security had to keep the opposing sides apart at the hotel where Monday’s media event was taking place. After what seemed to be a headbutt, John Fury sustained a cut, and despite his best efforts to clean it up, blood kept coming out. As the people in Usyk’s camp yelled “Usyk, Usyk, Usyk,” he had to be restrained many times. John was quickly taken away from the scene. He then turned around and yelled, “Show some respect,” while blood poured down his face.

Tyson Fury’s dad, John, was asked about what exactly happened that escalated the confrontation shortly after the incident. He explained that “some little idiot” had invaded his personal space, so he was left with no choice. After the emotions died down, John, with a much cooler head, expressed his remorse. “Sincere apologies to everybody involved,” John said. “It’s just the way we are. Emotions and tensions are running high. He was a very disrespectful fella.”

John continued, “If you come close in a fighting man’s space, you’re gonna cop for something. What matters to me is respect for my son, but he wasn’t showing any of it.” John said the blood didn’t faze him one but. They are a family of generations of fighters, so it’s not supposed to. Tyson Fury takes on Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed Heavy Weight Championship on Saturday in Riyadh. Overall, the fight was already tense, but it went to another level today. Thankfully, the fight goes off without any more clashes and a lot less blood outside the ring.

Francis Ngannou Wants To Prioritize Tyson Fury Rematch

Francis Ngannou has confirmed that he will not appeal the result of his fight against Tyson Fury and will instead push for a rematch as soon as possible. “The rematch is what I want next the most. As for right now I feel like there is a lot of options for me, but I want to choose wisely, and I would go for the rematch first,” Ngannou told TMZ. Ngannou defied the odds to earn a split decision loss to Fury in their fight last weekend. Even Fury gave the former MMA fighter props. “He’s given me probably one of my toughest fights in the last 10 years. He’s a good boxer, He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be and he gave me a good fight,” Fury said after the bout.

Despite Fury having just set a date next February for his historic unification bout against Oleksandr Uysk, Ngannou wants his rematch first. “My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I’ll fight Fury, then I’ll let them do whatever they do. I’ll go back, maybe do some MMA fight and come back with some people in boxing,” Ngannou explained.

Ngannou Not Appealing Fight Result

Furthermore, Ngannou shot down any notion that he would be appealing the fight result. “Who am I gonna appeal to? [The British Boxing Commission]? I have no chance. I think that’s just another way of humiliation,” Ngannou argued. Instead, as mentioned, he wants to rectify the loss with a rematch win. However, Fury is yet to comment on Ngannou’s challenge.

One boxer who is filing an appeal, however, is Dillon Danis. Last month, the MMA fighter officially appealed the result of his boxing match against Logan Paul. It’s unclear exactly what Danis is appealing, given he clearly met the threshold for a disqualification given his attempted illegal grab on Paul in the dying seconds of the fight. Furthermore, given how thoroughly Paul was beating Danis at the time of the DQ, it’s likely that the fight would be ruled a unanimous decision win for Paul. Additionally, Paul responded to the announcement, calling it “embarrassing and desperate”.

While the man is smiling happily, Kanye is neutral at best. Ye was in the Middle Eastern nation to attend the high-profile boxing match between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou. He has spent the last few months living in Italy with his wife, Bianca Censori.

Fans were surprised to see West at the event, which led to some confusion over what the rapper was wearing. Eagle-eyed fans on social media spotted what appeared to be an old logo for the Premier League, England’s top soccer league, on West’s shirt. This led fans to speculate what black jersey with yellow stripes he was rocking. It appears that the most likely answer is a Liverpool goalkeeper’s jersey from the early 2000s.

Tyson Fury Defeats Francis Ngannou Via Split Decision Despite Knockdown

Tyson Fury was able to overcome a knockdown to defeat Francis Ngannou via split decision on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fury secured tallies of 96-93 and 95-94 from two of the judges while Ngannou got one judge to tally 95-94. The loss for Ngannou marked his pro boxing debut in his first fight overall since January 2022.

“I might have come up short today, I might be wounded but I can bite, I’m just a fighter and I’m ready to fight any time soon,” he said afterward. “We can run it back soon and I’m sure I can do better. This was my first boxing match, I’m not making excuses but I can come back even stronger.”

Fury spoke about the fight afterward, praising Ngannou. “That definitely wasn’t in the script,” he said, as noted by The Athletic. “He’s a hell of a fighter and a hell of a lot better boxer than we thought he would be. Tyson Fury Compares Himself To Novak Djokovic At Francis Ngannou Weigh-In

Tyson Fury was full of confidence as he weighed in against Francis Ngannou ahead of their boxing match in Saudi Arabia. “It’s like a table tennis champion facing Djokovic in the Wimbledon final — totally different,” Fury said dismissively of the MMA star, who is making his boxing debut. Both fighters made weight, with Fury coming up a little over 5 lbs more than Ngannou. There was a flicker of confrontation as Ngannou bumped chests with Fury after the British boxer put his forehead against the Cameroonian’s.

However, Ngannou was unfazed by Fury’s behavior. “I have played this game so long. This can’t get to me. It’s part of the game. We’re going to take a couple of minutes at the beginning, but I think this fight will end very quick,” the PFL star claimed. Both men are set to make bank from the fight, with Fury’s purse reportedly hitting $50 million.

Fury Eyes Usyk

However, the fight is little more than a warm-up for the main event in the eyes of Fury. Last month, sources told ESPN that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had signed fight contracts for this winter. The fight, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia, will be the first undisputed heavyweight fight in boxing’s four-belt era. While a date has not been confirmed, the fight will take place on December 23 or in early January. The details will be further set after Fury fights Ngannou. At the Ngannou weigh-in, Fury said he would take a week to recover before discussing the Usyk fight. Fury currently holds the WBC belt while Usyk holds the WBA, IBF, and WBO belts.

The fight is a renewal of a proposal from earlier this year. Fury and Usyk were originally scheduled for April of this year, with a fight slated for London’s Wembley Stadium. However, the fight fell through at the last moment. Instead, Uysk fulfilled his mandatory WBA defense against Daniel Dubois in an August fight in Poland. Meanwhile, Fury has not fought since beating Derek Chisora last December.
