Megan Thee Stallion Connects With Twice For Colorful K-pop Crossover “Strategy”

If you follow Megan The Stallion, you know how much of a fan she is of other cultures. That’s especially true when it comes to Japan. While K-pop super group TWICE hails from South Korea, the Houston rapper isn’t going to turn an opportunity to work with them because of that. That’s exactly what’s going on this weekend, as they have just dropped off “Strategy,” the opener and title track from TWICE’s 14th (!) mini album. If you aren’t familiar, they one of the most popular K-pop groups, with BLACKPINK and BTS maybe the only ones ahead of them.

They are known for songs like “What is Love?” “FANCY,” “The Feels,” and “I CAN’T STOP ME.” “Strategy” could very well join these tracks as one of their most beloved, though, because it’s extremely catchy. It’s got this cute charm and colorful personality about it that just works. The producers really made a winning instrumental by including various instruments and sound effects that are all perfectly placed in the mix. Also selling the record for us are the pre-chorus, chorus, and refrain. It’s a very empowering girl anthem about getting a man to fall of them under their own strategy. Megan also has a playful and animated verse on the backend that ties things together quite nicely. Once you hear, you will get addicted. Trust us, we are speaking from firsthand experience.

“Strategy” – Twice & Megan Thee Stallion

Quotable Lyrics:

Do you like that? (Huh?)
When I smack it and you watch it bounce it right back?
He really lost it when he saw me do the right, left (Hmm)
I’m a man eater, you are just a light snack (Baow)
I got him pressed like he’s workin’ on his triceps (Hmm)
I’m a flirt, I’m a tease, they be hurt after me

TWICE And Megan Thee Stallion Detail Their ‘Strategy’ For Bagging A Crush In A Colorful New Video

Megan Thee Stallion adds yet another K-pop collaboration to her growing collection, teaming up with rising nine-member girl group, TWICE, for “Strategy.” In the colorful video, the girls visit a shooting range, where they detail their plans for making a crush fall in love with them. Megan joins in to add some hot girl flavor to their scheme, dancing and rapping on a rooftop before joining TWICE a photo studio for another dance session.

Megan’s first K-pop collab came in 2021, when BTS tapped the beleaguered Houston rapper for the remix of their hit song, “Butter,” after edging her out for No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The song almost didn’t come out after her previous label, with which she was engaged in a legal dispute at the time, tried to block its release. But after clearing that hurdle, she has gone all-in, reuniting with BTS’ RM earlier this year for “Neva Play,” which became the official theme song for WWE’s Friday Night Smackdown show.

Meanwhile, TWICE is celebrating their own No. 1 debut with the release of their 13th EP, With YOU-th, this March. They continued to make inroads to America’s mainstream with a headlining performance on Amazon Music Live last month.

TWICE & Megan Thee Stallion Have A New Video On The Way

After a phenomenal 2024, Megan Thee Stallion and TWICE will close the year with a soon-to-be international smash in their new collaboration, “Strategy,” previewed on Sunday (Dec. 1). The K-pop powerhouse teased the collaboration on Sunday (Dec. 1) with a 16-second preview of the music video, which will debut on Friday (Dec. 6). The snippet highlights TWICE’s sleek choreography intercut with shots of Megan commanding the scene, holding a rhinestone-encrusted megaphone. The teaser includes a snippet of Megan Thee Stallion’s verse.

She raps: “Talk with my body, that’s my strategy / Other girls tryin’, but I’m really hard to beat / He’ll be mine off my strategy, my strategy, strategy.” “Strategy” marks Megan and TWICE’s second team-up. They previously collaborated on the remix of her viral hit “Mamushi,” replacing Japanese artist Yuki Chiba with the K-pop group. The track originally appeared on Megan’s project MEGAN: ACT II. The album debuted at #3 on the Billboard charts.

TWICE & Megan Thee Stallion Tease “Strategy” Music Video

With “Strategy” on the horizon and a banner year behind her, Megan Thee Stallion continues to redefine her artistry, proving she’s as multifaceted as she is unstoppable. Her ability to merge worlds—from hip-hop to K-pop—ensures her reign remains both dynamic and enduring. Reflecting on her prolific year, Megan told Vogue, “I have the freedom to say whatever I want and put something out whenever I feel like it. That’s why I could release two projects in one year. I can wake up tomorrow and decide to do it all over again.” Her creative independence has not only fueled her output but has also cemented her as a boundary-pushing artist.

2024 also saw the release of Megan’s deeply personal documentary, Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, on Amazon Prime Video. The film chronicles the Grammy winner’s journey through fame, grief, and resilience, including pivotal moments such as the heartbreaking loss of her mother and manager, Holly Thomas.

Which Artists Got Their First Gold Or Platinum Award In 2022?

2022 was an unusual year for music. Despite more records being released than ever before, there were only a handful of new hits; Billboard recorded only a dozen new No. 1 singles, while only new 23 albums reached the top of the Billboard 200. Those numbers reflected a dip from prior years, thanks to many of the songs and albums that topped the charts reigning for weeks at a time.

Meanwhile, the Recording Industry Association of America recently welcomed its “class of 2022” — the artists who earned their first Gold or Platinum certification last year. Among the 39 performers are TikTok favorites like Armani White, Bella Poarch, and GAYLE, while runaway success GloRilla stayed “F.N.F.” all the way to her own first certification. International artists also broke in a big way stateside with Afrobeats crooners Fireboy DML and Rema joining K-pop girl group TWICE in racking up the plaques.

A Gold certification denotes 500,000 units sold, while a Platinum record has sold 1,000,000 units. In the streaming era, one album sale is calculated as 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video song streams, which also counts as 10 track sales. In order for a qualifying track or album to be certified, often a label must request certification, so technically there might be one or two songs out there that qualify but were not certified.
