He further said: “I’ve been excluded on Oprah. I don’t know that it is. You know, I had a movie called Barbershop that I wasn’t invited to participate with the cast [on Oprah’s show]. I produced a show called Black White. It was a very controversial show and once again [Oprah] had the whole cast on and I wasn’t invited. So I don’t know what that’s really about. I really don’t know [why]. That’s something that I would love to find out.”
It’s not the first time Cube has expressed issues with Oprah Winfrey. Speaking with the magazine, FHM, in 2006, he previously revealed that the talk show host wouldn’t have him on for his aforementioned film, Barbershop. “For Barbershop, she had Cedric The Entertainer and Eve on, but I wasn’t invited. She’s had damn rapists, child molesters, and lying authors on her show. And if I’m not a rags-to-riches story for her, who is?” he said at the time.
Tucker Carlson’s Twitter show drew a non-trivial amount of eyeballs when it debuted in June, but viewership numbers have been dwindling since then. Still, he presses on, and on his latest episode shared yesterday (July 26), he was joined by Ice Cube, and the pair spent about a quarter of the 12-minute episode talking about the COVID-19 vaccine, specifically about why the rapper didn’t get it.
Carlson asked why Ice didn’t take the vaccine, noting he had “a direct order” to do so, and the rapper responded, “Yeah, I’m not real good with direct orders. […] No, it wasn’t ready. You know, it was six-month kind of rush job and I didn’t feel safe.”

Carlson jumped in, “But they told you you were safe,” and Ice responded, “I know what they said [laughs]. I know what they said, and I heard them. I heard them loud and clear, but it’s not their decision. There’s no repercussions if they’re wrong, but I can get all the repercussions if they’re wrong.”
The host then asked if it was a tough choice for Ice to make and he said, “No, it wasn’t a tough call. I wanted to be an example for my kids, really make sure they wouldn’t take it either, show them that I want to stand on my convictions and that I was willing to lose $9 million and more because we’ve probably lost more since then.”
The part about losing $9 million refers to what he said in a 2022 interview: “I turned down a movie because I didn’t want to get the motherf*cking jab. I turned down $9 million. I didn’t want get the jab. F*ck that jab. F*ck ya’ll for trying to make me get it. I don’t know how Hollywood feels about me right now.”
Elsewhere in the Carlson conversation, Ice noted he never intended for his vaccination status to be a matter of public concern, saying, “I never told anyone not to get vaccinated publicly. That was never my message to the world. I didn’t even want people to know whether I got vaccinated or not. I was pretty upset that that even came out, because I was just gonna quietly, you know, just not take it and deal with the consequences as they came.”
Carlson, for the record, proudly proclaimed he didn’t get the vaccine either: When Ice asked if he got the jab, the host exclaimed, “Of course not!”

Fox News dropped a bomb back in April when they surprised everyone by firing Tucker Carlson. Carlson had served as the network’s primetime news host since 2016 on Tucker Carlson Tonight. Because of the lack of reason given for his firing and the relative silence from Carlson himself in the weeks following there was little known about what would come next. In a tweet last week Carlson announced, then dropped the first episode of his new show. The show is posted exclusively to Twitter and features extended monologs of Tucker speaking from his house. Fox News isn’t playing around about the show though. They claim that his new web show is a direct breach of his contract with Fox. They’ve reportedly sent Tucker Carlson a cease & desist letter to try and stop the show’s creation. Unsurprisingly, the letter evoked a fiery response from Carlson. “Fox News continues to ignore the interests of its viewers, not to mention its shareholder obligations. Doubling down on the most catastrophic programming decision in the history of the cable news industry, Fox is now demanding that Tucker Carlson be silent until after the 2024 election,” his statement read.
“Tucker will not be silenced by anyone” Carlson’s legal team’s statement continues. His team is also insisting that Tucker’s voice is too important to be silenced. “He is a singularly important voice on matters of public interest in our country, and will remain so,” the statement concludes. This back and forth follows Fox News apparently confiscating equipment from Carlson’s house before he began shooting episodes.
Following his firing at Fox News, speculation was rampant online for an explanation. Tucker Carlson most recently crossed over into the hip-hop world when he invited Kanye West onto the show. After West made openly antisemitic comments and was largely de-platformed Carlson offered him a place to explain himself. Tucker Carlson, former host of the Fox News show Tucker Carlson Tonight, has taken to Twitter to share his plans of bringing his canceled show to the platform. The political commentator calls the platform, “the last big [platform] remaining in the world” that “[allows] free speech.” In the video, Carlson states “Free speech is the main right you have.” Adding, “Without it, you have no others.” The video has consequently sparked discussion on Twitter, as well as a response from Twitter’s CEO, Elon Musk.
Carlson was recently terminated from Fox News in April of this year due to concerns surrounding his coverage of the 2020 U.S. presidential election. The termination followed the settlement of a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit against Fox Corporation by Dominion Voting Systems. The suit ended with a nearly $800 million settlement from Fox Corporation. The suit involved claims that Fox News spread false information pertaining to their involvement in the election. Moreover, there are various other lawsuits pending against the corporation surrounding its coverage of the election. Lawyers claim that the coverage allegedly contributed to the January 6, 2021 insurrection, which led to various injuries and deaths. Similarly, one lawsuit comes from voting technology company Smartmatic, which is suing Fox News for $2.7 billion in damages.
The video also garnered the attention and a response from the site’s CEO, Elon Musk, who acquired the site in 2022. Musk retweeted the video along with a message stating he “want(s) to be clear that [they] have not signed a deal of any kind whatsoever.” Adding, “Tucker is subject to the same rules & rewards of all content creators.” Musk additionally states that “anything misleading will get @CommunityNotes.”

Various public figures have spoken out about Musk’s purge of the blue checkmarks on authentic accounts. Notable users who have pushed back against this new feature include GloRilla, Lil Nas X, Doja Cat, and more.

For now, the old folks who turn on Fox News after their episodes of Jeopardy are over will just have to sit tight. We’re sure the network will find his replacement soon enough. They were able to replace Bill O’Reilly, and they will definitely be able to do the same with Tucker. For now, no green M&M is safe, even with Carlson off the airwaves.

In a new article from Vanity Fair, it was revealed that Carlson was given the news on Monday morning by Suzanne Scott. Scott is the CEO of Fox News and reportedly never gave the host a clear reason for his dismissal. Consequently, Tucker Carlson was reportedly “stunned” by the news. At the time of his firing, he was looking to sign a long-term deal with Fox, and most insiders figured he was a lock to get it. Regardless, there are also reports that this came from “above.” This would imply Rupert Murdoch is giving the final say on all of this. Either way, Carlson is out of a job.
His dismissal came on the same day as Don Lemon’s firing from CNN. Once again, Lemon was very surprised by the news and slammed CNN on Twitter.
