Drake has long been connected with the sports world, most notably via his love (and since 2013, official role as an ambassador) for the NBA’s Toronto Raptors. Now, he’s honoring some of his home city’s most beloved athletes as his brand October’s Very Own (OVO) announces the “Hometown Heroes Collection.”

OVO

The new merch drop honors “the legendary athletes who have shaped the city’s sports and culture,” per a press release. The ten-piece collection includes hoodies, t-shirts, and basketball and hockey jerseys featuring OVO branding, in partnership with the Raptors and the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs.

OVO is launching the collection with a campaign highlighting three Toronto favorites: former Toronto Maples Leafs captain Mats Sundin and former Raptors Muggsy Bogues and Morris Peterson.

OVO

The Hometown Heroes collection will be able to shop on the OVO website and at OVO flagship stores in the US, Canada, and UK, starting today, September 27, at 10 a.m. ET. Prices range from $68 to $198 USD.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that on multiple occasions, Drake has turned down an invitation to perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Jamil “Mal” Clay of the New Rory & Mal podcast claimed, “Drake has been offered the Super Bowl show for some years now and has turned it down. Probably four years, he’s been offered to perform at the Super Bowl, said no for whatever reason.”

Drake Asks Justin Bieber For An Invite To A Hockey Game

Justin Bieber and Drake are two of the most notable Canadian exports of their generation. That’s why it’s no surprise that they both rep some sports teams from their home countries. Drizzy is notorious for sitting courtside during Toronto Raptors games and was omnipresent throughout the team’s 2019 title run. But in a recent Instagram post, Justin Bieber pledged his allegiance to a different team in an entirely different sport.

“Had fun last night at the next gen game with the @mapleleafs” Bieber captioned an Instagram post. He also included two pictures taken during a recent Toronto Maple Leafs hockey game. The first picture of the bunch features the pop star and his boo both sporting some Maple Leafs merch. But in the comments, Drake popped up with a hilariously passive-aggressive comment about not being invited to the game. “Wow guy doesn’t even invite me to see some puck bunnies eh,” his comment reads. The post itself already has more than 1.5 million likes while Drizzy’s comment has racked up more than 14k. Check out Bieber’s post and the hilarious comment below.

Drake Wants To Hit Up A Hockey Game With Justin Bieber

Last week, Drake released the new music video for his song “You Broke My Heart.” The track was a standout from the Scary Hours 3 addition to his album For All The Dogs earlier this year. It closes off the EP and has racked up nearly 40 million Spotify streams since the addition to the album dropped back in November.

But the video attracted some controversy for one particular cameo. The biggest superstar in all of country music and one of the biggest-selling artists of 2023, Morgan Wallen, makes an appearance alongside Drake in the music video. Many still take issue with a 2021 incident where Wallen was caught using the N-word on video taken by someone’s doorbell camera. What do you think of Drake trying to get invited to Justin Bieber’s next hockey game outing? Let us know in the comment section below.

Maple Leafs Drop Kid Cudi Track As Goal Song Over Drunk Driving Lyric

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially replaced Kid Cudi’s “Pursuit of Happiness” as their official goal song. The Cudi track was heard during the Leafs’ home opener against the Canadiens on October 11. However, it was replaced by Mickie Krause’s “Dup Dup” ahead of their October 14 game against the Minnesota Wild. According to a statement provided to TSN, the Maple Leafs chose to drop the song over the lyric “Driving drunk, doin’ my thang” as they believed it promoted values inconsistent with those held by the team.

Prior to the 2023/24 season, the Leafs had used “You Make My Dreams” by Hall & Oates as their goal song. However, the team chose to switch things up, choosing the 2010 Cudi track for the home opener. Furthermore, the team told TSN that they would not be exclusively using “Dup Dup” for the rest of the season. They are expected to mix things up for the remaining 79 games. Special attention will be given to games with specific themes and matchups against Original Six opponents.

Maple Leafs Drop Game Versus Chicago

Unfortunately for the Toronto Maple Leafs, they were unable to find success in their third game of the season. With no Kid Cudi on the soundtrack, they were soundly beaten 4-1 by the 1-2-0 Blackhawks. After a scoreless first period, Chicago took the lead through MacKenzie Entwhistle. While John Tavares tied things up a few minutes later, Chicago added another two goals in the final five minutes out of the period. They added a fourth in the final period to put the game out of reach of the Maple Leafs.

The Leafs had a strong season last year, right up until the Panthers shocked them in the second round of the playoffs. Now in joint possession of the longest active playoff streak in the league, it’s another year to try and break the Stanley Cup curse in Toronto. Once one of the league’s most dominant sides, the Leafs haven’t won the cup since the late 1960s. After a three-game home open, they head on the road for the first time this season tomorrow. Ironically, they will face the Panthers.

Drake Reps Toronto Sports On His Incredible New Chain

Drake is currently taking a victory lap after the release of his latest album, For All The Dogs. While the album might be getting mixed reviews right now, it is still going to sell extremely well. Furthermore, the artist just finished up his tour and he is set to take a few years off before dropping again. Overall, it has been a whirlwind time for him, and he understands that the time off is what is best for his health. It remains to be seen what Drizzy has in store for us, but no matter what, it is going to get a lot of attention.

Speaking of attention, it seems like the artist will be getting a lot of it thanks to his brand-new chain. If you were on social media last night, you probably saw this thing. Below, you can grab a good look at it, and overall, it is pretty glorious. Firstly, the main part of the pendant is the CN Tower. Subsequently, we get the Toronto Raptors logo and the Blue Jays logo hanging from the tower. Furthermore, at the back of the chain, there is a Toronto Maple Leafs logo. Unfortunately, if you are a Toronto FC or Argonauts fan, you will be disappointed.

Drake Celebrates Historic Toronto Hockey Win

On April 29, the Toronto Maple Leafs edged the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 in overtime to win their first-round NHL playoff series 4-2. It was a monumental achievement for the Leafs, who had not progressed past the first round of the playoffs since 2004. While the Leafs had made the playoffs every year since 2017, they were eliminated in the opening round every time. The post-2004 drought also included 7 consecutive seasons where the Leafs missed the playoffs entirely.

The city of Toronto was awash with jubilant hockey fans, celebrating the team’s win. The win was especially sweet given the Lightning eliminated the Leafs in the first round last season. Among the celebrating fans was Drake, the Toronto-born rapper and die-hard Leafs fan. Drake has never been shy about his hockey fandom. Furthermore, his OVO clothing brand has previously collabed with the Leafs.

Drake Shares Emotional Post On Instagram

A year ago, Drake posted a “goodnight Tampa” message on Instagram right before the Leafs choked a game-seven loss. Now he had reason to celebrate. Taking to his Instagram story, Drake posted a picture of a video of raucous celebrations in Toronto. He included an emoji whose eyes are welling up with tears. The rapper was not in attendance, instead performing in Chile. Drake, born October 1986, has never seen his Maple Leafs in the Stanley Cup Finals. The closest they have come in his lifetime is a 4-3 loss in the 1993 Conference Finals. The Maple Leafs will face the winner of the Bruins-Panthers series, which concludes on Sunday.

Drake recently took flak in another Toronto sports matter. When the Toronto Raptors were downed by the Chicago Bulls in the NBA Play-In. Some people blamed Drake. “That’s on Drake, really. If you don’t have Drake and if that doesn’t work the niceties of offering her things to make her stop shrieking, you get physical. You get her out,” radio host Pat Boyle said of DeMar DeRozan’s daughter. Boyle would go on to tweet “Explain yourself @Drake why weren’t you there last night? The Raptors loss is on you for not incentivizing Diar DeRozan to be quiet during free throws.”

Justin Bieber Stuns In Wild Puffer Jacket At Leafs Game

Justin Bieber has never been shy to show off his eclectic tastes when it comes to the fashion world. He is someone who has built a clothing brand of his own, so he knows what he is doing. Although you may not like his fashion sense, there is no doubt that he is confident in his skin.

Bieber is a public figure, which means his clothes are always on full display. Additionally, this is especially true when he steps out at a hockey game, for instance. JB is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and on Thursday night, he found himself in the Six for a game between the Leafs and the Kings.

Justin Bieber Turns Heads

The Toronto Maple Leads were able to score five goals last night in their 5-0 win over the Kings. However, it really was Bieber who shined last night thanks to his stunning puffer jacket. In the images below, you can see that the jacket had numerous shades of pink and purple, with even some blue. All of these colors combined to create some gorgeous heart shapes.

Some members of the Leafs commented on the Jacket, including Auston Matthews, who said “It was hard to miss.” In fact, many on Twitter seemed to have a similar opinion as Matthews.

“Bieber at the Leafs game looking like Willy Wonka,” one Twitter user wrote about the jacket. Another one said: “Nothing more Canadian than a pic of Justin Bieber wearing his Leafs cap and drinking his Timmies.”

Eventually, someone on Twitter was able to find the jacket for sale online. The store that carries it had it on sale for about $125. That is a pretty good deal for a garment that will make you like the Biebs.

Let us know what you think of the jacket, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the streetwear and sports worlds.
