Drake’s Rigorous Tour Schedule Has Joe Budden Suspicious, Fans Remind Him It’s Been Five Years

Since July of last year, Drake has been making his way around North America on his It’s All A Blur tour. He was first joined by 21 Savage, and teamed up with J. Cole for the latest leg. His run with Cole saw him perform in over 80 cities, and combined with all the rap beef he’s currently involved in, undoubtedly left him exhausted. According to Joe Budden, the hitmaker’s relentless tour schedule is confusing to him, and may indicate that there’s something going on behind the scenes.

During a recent episode of his podcast, Budden said there’s no way Drake wants to tour as much as he has been, and must be doing it because he’s contractually obligated to. He believes that this means his deal is either amazing, horrible, or both at the same time. “Whatever he got with Universal, I don’t trust it,” he explained. “I do not trust that big headline that went out about $400M, $500M a year.”

Joe Budden Thinks Drake Got An Amazing Deal, A Horrible One, Or Both

“How he tours is funny to me,” Budden continued, insisting he has no inside info on the matter. “I’ve been saying it, and every time I say it nobody pays me any mind. That’s funny and it’s weird. It’s wrong. Nobody at his level tours that much, you don’t. Unless you have to do it, unless you’re on the hook… They’re working him.” Budden’s claims have sparked quite a reaction among social media users. They’re now reminding him that Drizzy’s co-headlining tour with Migos was in 2018, over five years ago, and arguing that his tour schedule seems pretty reasonable to them.

It’s no secret that Joe Budden is a powerful force in hip hop, with the NYC-born personality’s podcast racking up hundreds of thousands of views weekly. This, of course, raises the question of whether or not this actually translates to cash. Luckily, the subject came up during a recent episode, prompting him to open up about how much he’s earned over his ten years of podcasting.

“Off podcasting, off of this?” he began. “All together in the whole ten years? About $4M… Gross is $7M.” The room then erupted into laughter, and his co-hosts questioned whether or not he was being totally transparent. He insisted that he was, but some of them still weren’t buying it.

Joe Budden Claims He Earned $4M In 10 Years

“Early on we were doing it for free. Then we hit a little lick, Spotify. Then n***as left, the building crumbled a little bit, and my friends came and saved the day. Probably about $3.5-$4.5M… I’m serious, why do y’all think I’m lying?” Clearly, Budden isn’t looking to provide his audience with exact figures at this point. While $4M doesn’t sound too bad to most, his co-hosts and countless commenters suspect that the number is actually much higher. “Listen, years of hard work, y’all could do it too,” Budden told viewers. “It’s not unachievable. Like, this is not unimaginable if you work hard, keep your head down to the finish line man, and just focus on the content and what you need to do… $4.5M.”

Drake Really Did Send A Cease & Desist To French Montana, Gamma CEO Says Record Execs Love Rap Beef

Drake and Rick Ross are currently engaged in a petty feud that has been going on for an entire week at this point. Overall, Ross unfollowed Drake on social media, which subsequently led to some Ross bars on “Push Ups.” From there, Ross delivered “Champagne Moments” in which he alleged that Drizzy had once hit French Montana with a cease & desist over a verse he was going to release. Fans were a bit confused by this and weren’t so sure about the veracity of the claim. Although now, it seems like we have confirmation that this was true.

During an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast, Gamma CEO Larry Jackson spoke about the allegations against Drake in regards to the now infamous cease & desist. As he explains, Drake really did send it to French. “The cease-and-desist letter was a real thing. I thought that was really funny…but other than that, I got nothing,” Jackson said. “We all have different senses of humor. I thought it was funny. I didn’t think anybody was really trying to be nefarious. I just thought it was a joke.”

Drake Is Beefing With Everyone

Meanwhile, Jackson went on to deliver some interesting comments about rap beef and their implications. In his eyes, the label executives are the ones who are really winning right now. They get the money from the diss tracks that are dropped. Moreover, because these diss tracks stream well, it just makes the label more money. Ultimately, it serves a lot of these label execs for the beef to continue. This is a similar take to what Vince Staples said just a couple of weeks ago.

This weekend, Joe did a podcast episode with DJ Akademiks. During this episode, Ak tried to get to the bottom of Budden’s previous issues with Drake. As Budden explained, he really doesn’t have any issues with Drizzy. Instead, he respects the man as an artist. He just always has tough love for creators, and that comes through for the megastar. This led to some pressure from Akademiks, who continued to question Budden. That is when Joe revealed that a lot of his Drake intel doesn’t even come from OVO. It actually just comes from escorts.

“I think most of my Drake intel today comes from my love of escorts,” Joe explained. “I’m not trying to be funny. The escorts just always know. The escorts are ground level to it all. The escorts are the CIA of the subway system.” It is a very unique admission, and not one that everyone would be willing to make. However, Budden has always been shameless in the past. That said, this certainly implies something about Drake, and an alleged similar interest. Either way, Budden remains an entertaining figure.

DJ Akademiks Talks To Joe Budden To Figure Out His Issue With Drake

DJ Akademiks sat down with Joe Budden on his eponymous podcast, Monday, to get to the bottom of his issues with Drake. The two reflected on Budden’s back and forth with the Toronto rapper following the release of For All The Dogs, last year. At the time, Budden accused Drake of “rapping for the kids” with the project.

After explaining that his own criticism of the project came from the place of an “entitled fan,” Akademiks explained: “I think your criticism was a little bit different. I remember asking him, because me and him had a conversation. I was like, ‘I’ve supported your music, reviewed it, and whatever for over a decade now. You kinda seem sensitive for the very first time about criticism.’ And he was like, ‘Nah, Joe’s criticism wasn’t just regular criticism. This n***a, he knows me.’” In response, Budden labeled that unfair and explained that he doesn’t actually know him like that.

As for the comments that set Drake off, Budden argued at the time: “He rappin’ for the children. Yo dog, I had to look up how old this n***a was when I finished listening to the album. You are 36. Your birthday is in 20 days. I Googled that, too. You’re going to be 37 years old. Get the f*ck away from some of these younger n****s. And stop f*cking these 25-year-olds. I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people. … He’s rapping for the kids, the streams, the accolades. He ain’t trying to rap for me. I accept that.”

The latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast began with a discussion around J. Cole’s Might Delete Later. Co-host Lamar “Ice” Burney was reviewing “Pricey” and noted the song features Gucci Mane and Young Dro. Budden interjected, “And Ari Lennox. Don’t do that to Ari. Ari Lennox is on track one as well. Shout-out to her.” It seemed like a well-intentioned shoutout for a split second before Budden added, “Don’t need her to go grab a football helmet again.”

What Did Ari Lennox Say About Joe Budden?

It would appear Lennox did not take kindly to her name coming out of Budden’s mouth. On her Instagram Story, Lennox posted a video of Consequence punching Budden backstage at a Love And Hip-Hop: New York reunion taping in 2013. After 24 Instagram Story posts of the same video, Lennox wrote, “Knocked your little glasses off and everything. Keep my precious name out of your psychotic, animal-abusing, women-terrorizing, demonic trolling, nicotine-encased mouth. All this meth smoke for a woman but not for any man beating your ass in real life. Bald b*tch!”

Of course, this is not just about one comment made this week. During the January 11 episode of Budden’s podcast, Budden criticized Lennox for expressing that she “was never comfortable” while opening on Rod Wave’s Nostalgia Tour last year.

Budden dismissed Lennox’s feelings — emphasizing that “it’s a blessing” to be able to tour as a musician and suggesting that Lennox should have told her team that she didn’t want to open for Rod Wave. For reference, Budden’s “football helmet” comment this week was a callback to mocking Lennox’s response to having a bottle thrown at her during one of her Nostalgia Tour sets.

“She went out there the next day with a football helmet on,” Budden said in January. “It’s only funny if it’s funny. […] I got a problem with this ‘woe is me’ era. I do. From guys, from girls.”

Lennox also clapped back in January. “Y’all, I don’t know what Joe Budden’s obsession is with me, but what I will say is that somebody needs to tell him to stop touching them dogs,” she said on an Instagram Live, as captured here. “I don’t understand why he’s so obsessed. Like, why are you so obsessed?” Budden apologized (sort of).

Joe Budden broke down J Cole’s apology to Kendrick Lamar from the Dreamville Festival on the latest episode of his eponymous podcast. In doing so, he found “good” and “bad” to take away from the incident. The apology arrived after Cole already dissed Lamar on the outro to his new mixtape, Might Delete Later.

“I’m all for J Cole’s mental health being well,” Budden began while discussing the positives. “I said last pod that anybody who wants to bow out of this thing please feel free to because this is not for the weakhearted. It’s not. It comes with a lot more than 1000 phone calls. If you not ready to move in a different capacity, if you not ready to speak in a different capacity like I said earlier, risk some relationships, if you not ready to see n****s that you thought were friendly turn unfriendly– This is before you get to anybody laying a bar. Your lifestyle has to change.” From there, he listed his credentials in the game. He further described Cole’s decision as a “bold, mature move for hip-hop.”

As for the bad, Budden explained that had he talked to any veterans such as JAY-Z, they would’ve advised against his move. “This is totally unacceptable,” he said of the way Cole handled the entire situation. That said, it seems like Staples has an opinion on rap beef that can only be described as both unique and nuanced. Although in simple terms, rap beef is something he doesn’t particularly care for.

We know this thanks to his recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast. During his call on the podcast, Vince was asked what he thought about the recent apology from J. Cole. Furthermore, he was asked what he thought about things heating up between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. As Staples explains, these are things that he doesn’t really care about. Instead, he cares more about artists getting their publishing. He says the war between labels and artists is more important than any war amongst peers.

Sexyy Red Performs At Rolling Loud Miami

The two later teamed up for a music video for the track, which features the actual birth of Sexyy’s second child as her water broke on set. She also joined Drake on his It’s All a Blur Tour as an opening act.
