Joe Budden Explains Why He Doesn’t Interview More Rappers

Joe Budden has explained why he doesn’t sit down with more rappers on his podcast, saying that he doesn’t want to rely on guests. He spoke about his reasoning during an interview with the Rap Radar podcast.

“I’ll still interview a rapper or two,” Budden said at one point. “I’m just not gonna make it how y’all will make it. There’s not too many of them that I wanna pedestal. I don’t really fuck with all that, so.”

Budden also added that there are already so many podcasts that operate solely in the interviewing lane such as N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s Drink Champs. He continued, “I was too scared to rely on anything. I didn’t wanna have to rely on guests. I was never that well-liked…but the people that come and fuck with me, I have a relationship with them or somebody really, really close to me. Other then that, n****s be trying to pop up…but listen, I like that there are so many places for rappers to go. Cause I don’t wanna talk to them but I certainly wanna hear from them and hear more about them.”

While he doesn’t interview too many rappers on his podcast, hip-hop is still the main topic of discussion. On Sunday’s episode of The Joe Budden Podcast, he discussed the ongoing feud between Pusha T and Jim Jones. “Now let me be objective and do my job the right way,” he said. “I’m torn here like Latoya Luckett. Boy, am I torn. On one hand I know to leave Push it to you alone.”

Joe Budden Trolls Gillie Da Kid & Wallo For Sharing Hotel Room

Joe Budden came at his podcast rivals Gillie Da Kid and Wallo for sharing a hotel room on the road. Budden reacted to a video of the two on social media during an episode of his podcast, earlier this week.

“I know n****s keep waiting on me to kill Gillie and Wallo for sharing a hotel room,” Budden began. “They posted it and they be in the same room.” He added: “Nah, they both in the bed. There’s nothing wrong. N****s can’t even say facts no more without it looking shady as hell.”

While many fans shared laughs in response to the bit, some defended the Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-hosts. When Akademiks shared the clip, former NFL receiver Torrey Smith wrote: “I do the same thing. If my wife isn’t there and just one of my boys, one room with two beds is straight.” Another fan commented: “N***a making it seem like they was in the bed together.”

It’s far from the first time Budden has clowned Gillie and Wallo. The two sides have been trading shots for years at this point. In 2021, they expressed interest in battling each other on an episode of Verzuz, although it didn’t come to fruition. More recently, Budden and Gillie went at one another on Twitter.

Gillie recently posted on the site: “After the washed Up Rap career in and out all the rehabs all the beating on Bit$hes Now u Wanna Podcast Beef [laughing emojis]. I’ll beef when u start getting sum Ad money.” Budden later quote-tweeted his post: “You selling ass out here for cheap… watch your mouth when you speak to or of me.” Check out Budden’s latest words for Gillie in the clip above.

N.O.R.E Says He And Cam’ron Are “Good” After Apparent Diss

In the media world, and especially in the free-form thoughts in the podcasting space, you have to be careful with your words. Moreover, an appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast made N.O.R.E. start a brief spat with Dipset legend Cam’ron. For those unaware, Noreaga made some comments on the show about rappers flexing their extracurricular ventures without really being as successful as they think. Not only that, but the fact that Joe Budden and Killa Cam already have beef must have painted this issue in a worse light. Still, the Drink Champs host took to Twitter to say that he and the New York rapper cleared the air. On his Instagram Story, Cam posted the tweet along with heart and flexing emojis.

“Just spoke to cam we good!!!” N.O.R.E. wrote on Twitter. Furthermore, this came after he already denied dissing Cam’ron, who has his own sports and cooking show. “Me and you are friends from the 90s,” the podcast titan wrote. “You have my real life phone number. You hung out with me for days before you did Drink Champs just to make sure I was the same yalla that you know. If you thought at any time I was going at you, Why would you go to the internet 1st?”

N.O.R.E. & Cam’ron Settle Down Their Presumed Beef

While N.O.R.E. and Cam’ron are “good” now, the latter’s words against Joe Budden make it clear that there’s still animosity there. “Damn @therealnoreaga told you I couldn’t trust you. Lolol. Im just f***ing wit ya,” the 47-year-old expressed. “But what other rapper from the 90’s got the sports and cooking show? U know u my n***a for life. But ya man h*e buddons threw u under the bus on the very Nx episode said he didn’t know who u was talking bout. I don’t give a f**k how his numbers is N.O. Stay away from that crack head!!!!”

Meanwhile, the Diplomats MC boasts more than a few notable interview-adjacent antics, most notably his infamous “You mad?” interview with Bill O’Reilly. Recently, he elaborated on how that came about. “At the time, I was at Roc-A-Fella and they had a great publicist at the time,” he recalled. “A lot of these opportunities were presented but people were scared to take the opportunity. So particularly with the Bill O’Reilly ‘You Mad’ situation, they was like, ‘You want to go on Bill O’Reilly?’ I’m like, ‘I don’t know who Bill O’Reilly is. Who is that? Not really.’” Still, he took on the chance and the rest is history. For more news and updates surrounding N.O.R.E. and Cam’ron, come back to HNHH.

N.O.R.E. Responds To Cam’ron Amid Joe Budden Beef: “Me & You Are Friends”

N.O.R.E. has responded to Cam’ron’s complaints on social media about a recent episode of The Joe Budden Podcast. The Dipset rapper believed N.O.R.E. and Joe Budden to be making fun of him while discussing other rappers who have ventured into podcasting. Cam recently launched a sports talk show titled, It Is What It Is.

“Me and you are friends from the 90s. You have my real life phone number. You hung out with me for days before you did Drink Champs just to make sure I was the same yalla that you know,” N.O.R.E. said in a tweet posted on Sunday night. “If you thought at any time I was going at you, Why would you go to the internet 1st?”

As for the comments that upset Cam, N.O.R.E. remarked during the interview with Budden: “You know what’s crazy? I’m looking at these rappers trying shows now—you know, rappers from our era—and they are so failing… They doing sports shows, they doing comedy shows. They talkin’ about, ‘Yo, I’m up. I’m just doing this for fun.’ No, you are not!” Budden laughed in agreement: “It’s great to see people fail … You can’t take the blueprint and hire different contractors. They sellin’ ass out here, huh?”

“Damn @therealnoreaga told you I couldn’t trust you. Lolol. Im just fucking wit ya,” Cam wrote online afterward. “But what other rapper from the 90’s got the sports and cooking show? U know u my n***a for life. But ya man hoe buddons threw u under the bus on the very Nx episode said he didn’t know who u was talking bout. I don’t give a fuck how his numbers is N.O. Stay away from that crack head!!!!” From there, Budden fired back at Cam in his own post. “Now that n***a know he too sensitive to do this w me,” he wrote. “Chill before I feel like playin’ back & you start makin’ calls again. Focus on your suits and pink set, that ‘crackhead’ lapped you lonnggggggggggg ago.”

Don Toliver Recalls Kanye West’s Important Advice

Don Toliver recalled an important piece of advice that Kanye West imparted to him during a recent appearance on The Joe Budden Podcast. Toliver’s interview came after the release of his third studio album Love Sick. Speaking with Budden, he explained that West said making something good is about feeling it in your veins.

“Kanye always used to tell me ‘If you don’t feel it in the veins, it ain’t what it need to be’ and as soon as you hear it, it has to be something,” he told Budden and his co-hosts. He later explained that success at the Grammys is one of his biggest goals for 2023. “I need to hold a trophy,” he remarked.

West and Toliver previously collaborated on Donda and the unfinished Donda 2. Afterward, Toliver spoke about the experience on Hot 97’s Ebro in the Morning. “That’s one of the people in the industry for sure that is transparent with me and I thank God for it, for real,” Toliver said at the time.

Elsewhere in his interview with Budden, Toliver discussed his upbringing in Houston, the aesthetic inspiration behind his latest album, and more. Toliver also explained being influenced by Marvin Gaye, Teddy Pendergrass, and Bobby Womack as well as OutKast, Kendrick Lamar, and Dom Kennedy.

As for Love Sick, Toliver revealed that New York’s iconic Studio 54 inspired the record. “Just like the fact it’s like a thing to where the rules is like everybody has to party,” Toliver explained. “Not everybody’s getting in and the music and the whole scenery looks crazy. That’s what I fell in love with I really feel it after I found out Micheal Jackson went to Studio 54.” The album released on February 24 with guest appearances from GloRilla, Kali Uchis, Lil Durk, Justin Bieber, Future, Wizkid, Brent Faiyaz, Toro y Moi, and more. Don Toliver Remembers Joe Budden’s Support Before The Fame

While on his press run in promotion of Love Sick, Houston’s Don Toliver stopped by The Joe Budden Podcast, where the hosts continuously praised his discography. Toliver’s third-studio album is already critically-acclaimed as one of this year’s best projects. The Cactus Jack signee remains humble during his appearance in what Joe Budden calls a “full circle moment.” “This is my second time speaking to you, and my second time seeing you,” Joe recalls.

Fans of the two may remember them both sharing footage of their first run-in over five years ago. As Joe Budden prepared to go inside a New York City office, he was stopped by a young Don Toliver and his collaborator-friend YungJosh93. The two men asked Joe to check their music out as they handed him a CD. The podcast personality accepted it, but not before giving the up-and-comers a solid word of advice. “Hey, stop handing CDs out. No CDs,” he tells them in the nine-second clip.

A Young Don Toliver Approaches Joe Budden

“This n***a was outside with his music,” Joe Budden remembers on the Patreon-exclusive pod. It appeared to work out in Don’s favor rather quickly, as he goes on to chime in about their chance encounter. “I’m in that mode before I meet you, right,” the “4 Me” singer tells Joe. “I give you the record… By the time I get back to Houston I met the DJ that I’m working with today.” In his version of their meeting, Don Toliver says he and YungJosh were promoting their music outside of The Breakfast Club when they noticed Joe. “We rented a car and slept in the car. We was like ‘Alright, it’s six in the morning, we finna’ go wait outside for Angela Yee and Charlemagne.’”

Years later, their hustle has proven to have paid off tremendously as the 28-year-old awaits his Billboard 200 entry for Love Sick. The project, which was released on February 17th, sees features from everyone from GloRilla to Justin Bieber. Don Toliver surprised fans earlier this week with a deluxe version, which includes his “Embarrased” single with label head Travis Scott. The two performed the track during a live show at Irving Plaza on February 28th.

Twitter Bashes Joe Budden For Michael B. Jordan Rant

Social media went into a frenzy yesterday after the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast was released. A clip of the show’s hosts immediately went viral as they shared their thoughts on Michael B. Jordan’s heated exchange with podcaster Lore’l. The actor-director called out his former schoolmate during a red carpet interview for allegedly calling him corny back in 2021. While Melyssa Ford, Ice, Ish, Parks, and Queenz Flip all chimed in on the matter, it was Joe Budden’s comments that sent people over the edge.

In episode 606, Budden barks on Michael B. Jordan for how he treated Lore’l during their run-in. “You[‘ve] probably never been more visible than you are right this second, and that’s what you do to her,” he expresses. Joe also calls the Creed III star zesty and “a corny a** n***a” prior to bringing up his dating history. “And if I bring back those White girl rumors, then it’s gonna sound even crazier, ‘cause why are you talking to our sisters like that on the red carpet?” This is where spectators chimed in, calling the former lyricist a hypocrite as they reflected back on Joe’s own chaotic past. “‘You n***as think money hides corny’ is a spot on description of joe budden ironically,” says one user.

Twitter Calls Out Joe Budden For Being A Hypocrite

Other tweeters called him out for his abusive relationship with model ex-girlfriend Tahiry Jose. @Relly_95 tweets: “Joe Budden calling Michael B Jordan Corny for how he reacted to the girl who took shots at him when he was younger is hilarious considering man [gave] Tahiry two black eyes.” Joe’s former lover aired him out and shared her assault stories in a 2020 interview with Hollywood Unlocked.

Irregardless, Joe continues to stand on his statement, asking people to back off in a recent Instagram Story. In it, Budden writes: “If any other Black multimillionaire embarrassed a woman working on a red carpet cuz she thought he was corny in 7th grade y’all would call him a lot more than corny.” Lore’l has since denied calling Michael B. Jordan corny, admitting it was her podcast cohost Dominique Da Diva. The two were discussing his past relationship with socialite Lori Harvey when she said, “We all know the nice, corny guys treat you the best.”

Joe Budden Calls Michael B. Jordan “Corny” For Run-In With Lore’l

During the latest airing of The Joe Budden Podcast, the show’s forerunner shared his frustrations with actor-director Michael B. Jordan. This follows the Creed III star’s latest appearance on the red carpet, where he ran into alleged frenemy, radio host Lore’l. Jordan and Lore’l attended school together in Newark, New Jersey, which was confirmed by the two during their chance meeting last week. Once the podcaster brought up their Chad Science Academy alma mater, the actor goes on to question her about calling him corny in a 2021 chat. Now, Budden is going viral for his opinions on the exchange, which was a topic of discussion on his popular show.

After the mention of Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, Joe Budden proceeds to discuss his and Lore’l’s awkward run-in. “Boy did he a have a fully automatic of zest… He looked at a girl like ‘Now look at where we are,’” Joe begins. The podcaster then calls him a “corny a** n***a” before doubling down on the statement. “You being Michael B. Jordan today—allegedly ‘Sexiest Man Alive’… You[‘ve] probably never been more visible than you are right this second, and that’s what you do to her. And if I bring back those White girl rumors, then it’s gonna sound even crazier, ‘cause why are you talking to our sisters like that on the red carpet?” The latter part of his statement is in reference to Jordan’s rumored preference for dating White women. The sound bite begins around the 12-minute mark during episode 606, titled “Alternate Ending.”

Joe Budden Isn’t A Fan of Michael B. Jordan’s Comments

Host Melyssa Ford chimed in, remembering how Michael B. Jordan looked as a teen on HBO’s Baltimore-based series, The Wire. “He was puny, he was scrawny… I’m sorry, this is what he was,” she tells the cast. “He was not the epitome of sex symbol at that time. And he’s walking around with like, headshots. This is f**kin’ Newark.” Some of The Joe Budden Podcast crew agreed, with others taking up for Michael B. Jordan’s outburst.

According to L’orel, she wasn’t the one who called him corny in the first place. In a new clip, the lead host of The Undressing Room Podcast confirms that is was actually her co-host, personality Dominique Da Diva, who made the choice words. While discussing Michael B. Jordan and Lori Harvey’s past, Dominque said “You know what I really think deep down inside? I think that Michael B. Jordan is a nice, corny guy, and I don’t mean that as a slight,” Dominique said. “We all know the nice, corny guys treat you the best.”

Joe Budden Doesn’t Believe NBA YoungBoy’s ‘Stop The Violence’ Act: “I Laughed”

Questions were raised after NBA YoungBoy launched his “stop the violence” advocacy in Hip Hop. Since living in Utah, it seems that YoungBoy has had a change of heart about his lyrical content. The rapper has been pushing a new movement, and he further explained his stance in his expansive feature with Billboard. “I think about how many lives I actually am responsible for when it comes to my music,” he stated at the time.

“How many girls I got feeling like if you don’t go about a situation that your boyfriend’s bringing on you in his way, you’re wrong? How many people have put this sh-t in their ears and actually went and hurt someone?” Additionally: “Or how many kids felt like they needed to tote a gun and walked out the house and toted it the wrong way? Now he’s fixing to sit there and do years of his life that he can’t get back.”

Although the message was received warmly, Joe Budden isn’t totally convinced. On The Joe Budden Podcast, the hosts discussed YoungBoy’s new outlook. Further, some even praised him for stepping away from the content that helped catapult him into stardom. Budden pushed back ever so slightly. “I don’t believe one f*ckin’ word of any of that sh*t,” he declared.

“I laughed every time that sh*t popped up on my phone,” he also added. “Get the f*ck outta here.” Ice argued that he respected YoungBoy’s public statements calling for an end to violence. Others noted that it wasn’t too long ago that he was filming a music video surrounded by people with firearms.

Budden further suggested that YoungBoy’s anti-violence stance was marketing, and he called Ice “gullible.” It seemed that YoungBoy was alerted of Budden’s mention. On the Never Broke Again LLC Instagram, a photo of YoungBoy was captioned: “Tell @joebudden ‘Don’t try this at home’ who ready? The mysterious message left fans thinking a surprise is in store, but we’ll have to wait for more news. Check out the clip above.
